it was amazing

My first impression of this title and story line concept was interest, but some skepticism. I’m not personally a huge fan of motorcycles or biker clans (motorcycles are fun, but not an obsession). Additionally, holiday stories are generally not my preference either…too cliche. However, Frozen by Lies by Martha Sweeney caught me completely by surprise. That translated into me devouring the book rapidly and chomping at the bit for the second book. This is unusual for me…unless I really enjoy a story. Martha did a masterful job of keeping the tale rolling along, mixing the unusual combinations of bikers, holidays, hot chocolate, whiskey, and sexual tension…without spoiling the illusion and fantasy world. The characters had depth and presence. The banter was very believable and often fun. The story was deep in layers upon layers of hidden meaning and potential. Admittedly, I’m already a fan of Martha Sweeney’s work. However, as objectively as I can be, this was certainly one of her best works by far…next to another favorite by her called, “Moss Manor.” I long to see this series in film form someday, and can’t wait for the rest of the series.
