Shah Rukh Khan Played Young Boy Hopeless In Love In Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. ( Photo Credit – Red Chillies Entertainment / YouTube )
Shah Rukh Khan has been a star ever since he arrived, singing loudly Koi Na Koi Chahiye Pyaar Karne Wala in the 1992 released film Deewana. The actor was awarded the Best Male Debut Filmfare for his performance in the film. However, Srk has always been a hungry actor. It seems hungry for love, for accolades, for work, and for awards.
In 1993, while he was just starting his career, he did something that was unimaginable for a newbie, that to an outsider to pull off. However, it seems Srk is being called the king today for a reason – he knew how to strategize and how to hustle.

Veteran Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah has reminisced about his cult-classic film ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ in which he starred as a photographer. The actor said that director Kundan Shah had a lot of footage before editing the film but he went on to ruthlessly chop the film at the edit table as he was very clear about the story.
Naseeruddin said: “I did the film because I found this script very funny and Kundan Shah, the director, was a very good friend. But, when I started working on it, I thought, ‘This is the stupidest film ever being made, if it is ever made’.”
The actor also shared that working on the film was a tough process as he had a different perspective of the character which wasn’t aligned with that of Kundan .
“And these were not the days of vanity van, we couldn’t afford a vanity van.

New Delhi, Aug 12 (Ians) The cult classic ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ which was released four decades ago, in 1983, stands as an enduring testament to the power of satire and humour, coupled with social commentary on corruption and media, in the Indian cinema.
Directed by Kundan Shah, and starring an ensemble cast including Naseeruddin Shah, Ravi Baswani, Om Puri, Pankaj Kapur, Satish Shah, late Satish Kaushik, Bhakti Barve and Neena Gupta, the movie was a dark satire on the rampant corruption in Indian politics, bureaucracy, news media and business.
It still remains a timeless classic because of its razor-sharp wit and incisive take on corruption, politics, and societal hypocrisy.
Produced by National Film Development Corporation of India (Nfdc), the film’s narrative revolves around the misadventures of two bumbling photographers, Vinod Chopra (played by Naseeruddin), and Sudhir Mishra (played by Ravi).

Mumbai, June 1 (Ians) Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, who was most recently seen in the second season of the historical fiction streaming show ‘Taj’, shared that he didn’t find his cult classic black comedy ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ funny while he was filming it.
Talking about why ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ sequel is doomed, the senior actor said: “That was a time I believed deeply in the method, believability and logic. I found many situations in the film ludicrous and I didn’t find anything funny while shooting that film. And maybe that’s why it is funny because none of us were laughing at ourselves while performing it. I realised I was mistaken and I was being unreasonable, I should have tried to get on director Kundan Shah’s wavelength instead of trying to get the film on mine.”

Parallel cinema cuts loose from the musicality of Bollywood and the common perception of Indian cinema at large. Coming out of West Bengal in the 1950s, parallel cinema appeared as an alternative to the glamour and dance; socially conscious and experimental in style and mood, it maps the origins of art cinema in India, and for the first time, the rest of the world was looking at India as an innovator of film language (Satyajit Ray’s 1955 train sequence Pather Panchali is one of the most celebrated in film history). This mix traces some choice moments in Parallel Cinema’s sound. As more and more film personalities come forward to return their awards, Pahlaj Nihalani, the chairperson of the censor board and an active member of the ruling party, is all set to hold a meeting of the top brass from the film industry to remind them of how much the film industry has benefited from the present regime. Says Pahlaj, "It was the Nda, the National Democratic Alliance of which the Bjp was a part, which granted the 'industry' status to the film industry. Before that the film fraternity did not receive any of the financial benefits that industries are entitled to. We are what we are because of the Nda's decision to consider us an industry." Nihalani points out that the Nda-bjp also opened doors for the film industry to receive bank loans. "Before we got 'industry' status no bank wanted to touch us. After the industry status we were entitled to bank benefits.

Popular Marathi film and theatre personality Bharat Jadhav will now be seen in Kundan Shah's Hindi film P Se Pm Tak. The film is a story of a prostitute who goes on to become the Prime Minister.
Ask Bharat if there will be any vulgarity in the film and he says, "No, there's no vulgarity in P Se Pm Tak. It's a graph of a prostitute who goes on to become the Prime Minister. So her character speaks the language of a prostitute but it's not cheap."
Bharat will be seen playing a dead person in the film but is shown to be alive to the other characters. So is the film similar to Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (Kundan Shah's cult comic caper)? Clarifies Bharat, "No, it's not. In that film there was a still dead body. But in this film I'm dead but I also sing and dance.

Long before Shah Rukh Khan became the reigning Badshah of Bollywood, the superstar had worked with ace director Kundan Shah (best known for his cult comedy Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro) in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. And it was during the film’s shoot that the director was bowled over by Srk’s sweet gesture.
Recalling the incident, Kundan Shah – who is currently looking forward to his dark comedy P Se Pm Tak – shares that he had gone to a bookstore where he had liked a few books immensely. But when it came to billing, he realized that they cost a little over two thousand rupees, not a small amount back in the ‘90s. So, the filmmaker left the books, hoping to collect them at a later time. Later that day, at the shoot, he happened to recount what happened at the bookstore to Shah Rukh. The film got delayed Preity was first seen in Mani Rathnam's Dil Se where she shocked the nation and made Shah Rukh blush by asking him if he was a virgin. The startling female hero of Revolver Rani (Rr) has been warmly received by critics. And Kangna Ranaut is all set to do another film with the Rr director Sai Kabir. Says Sai Kabir, "Yes I'm doing a film called Divine Lovers with Kangna and Irrfan in the lead. It would be a complete contrast to Revolver Rani. It won't be loud, aggressive, violent and splashy like Rr. But again Divine Lovers would be about the Great Indian Dream." Divine Lovers would be set in Mumbai and Aligarh. Reveals Sai, "It'd be set in the lower middleclass and it would be also about the moral corruption of the middleclass." Also on the anvil is the sequel to Revolver Rani. "I want to build my hero Alka Singh as a franchise. She'll be my toy to tell many stories. I want her to do many things in the future including fight America and revive the Soviet Union.

To celebrate the Indian film industry's centenary year, here are 10 essential movies – from a silent film about the life of the Buddha to a violent gangster epic
Prem Sanyas/The Light of Asia (Franz Osten, 1925)

Among the few silent films that remain are three Indo-German co-productions that predate the arrival of the German technicians and directors who worked in the Bombay Talkies studio in the 1930s. The Light of Asia was shot in India but edited and processed in Germany and intertitled in English. The script was adapted from Sir Edwin Arnold's epic poem The Light of Asia (1861) while the opening credits proclaim it was "Shown by Royal Command at Windsor Castle, April 27 1926" and that it benefited greatly from help offered by the Maharaja of Jaipur. The film shows westerners touring India (Mumbai, Delhi, Varanasi) who come to Bodh Gaya, the site of Gautam Buddha's Enlightenment.

For the director of Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, one of the most brilliant social satires of Indian cinema, it comes as an embarrassing shock to be accused of muscling into Sujoy Ghosh's territory to direct the sequel to Kahaani 2.
"Why would I want to make Kahaani 2? That's Sujoy Ghosh's domain. I think he did a brilliant job in Kahaani. The way he recreated the bustle and tension of Kolkata was amazing. I don't think any other director could do justice to the Kahaani brand."
Explaining how he became embroiled in this unsavoury controversy, Kundan Shah says, "I went to the producer Jayantilal Gada with a woman-oriented subject. It was his idea to name it Kahaani 2 as he says the rights and title are with him. But I am not comfortable with this at all. Why should I claim any creative right over the Kahaani franchise?...

Kahaani was a highly acclaimed blockbuster film which gave Sujoy Ghosh the much needed success as a director. But now looks like its sequel is caught up in a web of controversies. After a recent dispute between the producer Pen India's chairperson Jayantilal Gada and Sujoy Ghosh, where Ghosh had apparently asked for a whopping amount of Rs. 35 crores for making the film, the two now seem to have had a fallout. Gada recently confirmed that he signed Kundan Shah of Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro fame to helm the sequel to Kahaani. Shah who also confirmed of signing the movie revealed that the second installment will not be a continuation to the prequel but an entirely different story. However the main idea of making it a woman-oriented film still remains the same. Sujoy who is obviously unhappy with the recent turn of events, has however claimed that he is definitely...
