Christina Hendricks and “House of the Dragon’s” Paddy Considine have been tapped to lead “Small Town, Big Story,” a new Sky Studios drama from Chris O’Dowd
O’Dowd (“State of the Union”) created and will direct the six-part dramatic comedy, which tells the story of the effect on a small Irish village when a Hollywood production begins shooting on its doorstep and rattled residents struggle to keep a long-buried secret under wraps.
The series is an Equity production, which is being shot in the U.K. and Ireland, but Sky has emphasized that all cast agreements comply with SAG-AFTRA rules in light of the ongoing actors strike. The cast were contracted before the strike.
In the series, “Mad Men” star Hendricks is set to play Wendy Patterson, a hot-shot L.A. producer who grew up in the fictional Irish village of Drumbán while Considine stars as local doctor and community stalwart Seamus Proctor.

Title: The Baytown Outlaws Director: Barry Battles Starring: Clayne Crawford, Travis Fimmel, Thomas Brodie Sangster, Daniel Cudmore, Billy Bob Thornton, Eva Longoria, Andre Braugher, Paul Wesley, Zoe Bell, Michael Rapaport, Serinda Swan, Agnes Bruckner A deeply but pleasantly weird sort of Southern Gothic battle royale, “The Baytown Outlaws” is a boisterous, sweat-soaked mash-up of “The Boondock Saints,” “Smokin’ Aces,” “Wild Things” and “Sucker Punch” (minus the latter’s material excess). While stipulating that it is at its core fairly slight — and also constructed of prefabricated parts and characters who, despite their colorful nature, are basically kind of hoary clichés — it’s also hard to deny that director Barry Battles’ zonked-out genre [ Read More ]

Even after falsely billing Billy Bob Thornton and Eva Longoria as the stars of this action-packed B-movie extravaganza (as if that would pull in the crowds), the producers and director/co-screenwriter Barry Battles have no need to apologize. This ode to Tarantino, Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!, and Jerry Lewis marathons is deliriously silly, frenetically violent, and insanely entertaining, especially for those who prefer Mad Max over The Rules of the Game.
The actual leads are Clayne Crawford, Travis Fimmel, and Daniel Crawford, who respectively play three orphaned siblings who've grown up to be the gun-toting, bemuscled, sweaty hunks Brick, G.I., and the mute former wrestler Lincoln. These charismatic Southern rednecks work for a local sheriff (Andre Braugher) who employs them to slay on the sly his county's criminal elements.

There are a few gangsters heading to the theaters this weekend. Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn and Emma Stone star in the violent melodrama Gangster Squad, one of the films opening Friday. Set in the jazz era of the late '40s, director Ruben Fleischer tells the story of a group of Lapd officers going up against a big mob boss in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Barry Battles' The Baytown Outlaws features Billy Bob Thornton, a wannabe gangster who has kidnapped a wheelchair-confined teenager named Rob. Eva Longoria, who plays Thornton's ex-wife, hires three outlaws to try and rescue the boy. Photos: Ryan Gosling,

Of the two or three dozen entities thanked in the credits for Barry Battles' redneck shoot-em-up The Baytown Outlaws, God ranks number eight. It's hard to decide which is odder: that the Almighty rates so low, or that he's acknowledged at all in a film so ostentatiously (if unmovingly) devoted to sleaze. Maybe someone in post-production realized how little chance this vial of synthetic testosterone had with the moviegoing public, and decided a Hail Mary was in order. Billy Bob Thornton and Eva Longoria are top-billed here, but they're background characters, showing up only occasionally as

The Baytown Outlaws opens this Friday, and as you already see from our title – today we have another new clip which will finally give us a much better look at Eva Longoria! As you already know, Longoria plays character named Celeste, a woman who wants to save her son from an abusive father, but soon becomes a target on the run from an odd cast of characters…
Barry Battles directed this action comedy from a script he co-wrote with Griffin Hood, which follows the Oodie brothers who act as vigilante killers for the local sheriff. The whole mess actually starts when they accept a job to rescue a young boy from his godfather…
After her ex-husband shoots Celeste three times in the gut and kidnaps her godson, it’s time to play dirty. She hires three outlawed, redneck brothers to bring him back to her. What begins as a small...

I've been intrigued by the prospects of Barry Battles' The Baytown Outlaws since the first trailer was released, due largely to the amount of it's absurdly crazy, out-of-control antics and the presence of Eva Long-leg-oria in daisy dukes, tank top, and cowboy boots. Okay, so I'm easily sold sometimes, but The Baytown Outlaws looks like a batshit crazy good time. It's not going to win any Oscars, but it seems like the kind of movie that can appease your mindless action appetite with some...

Love it or hate it, it seems the grindhouse inspired aesthetic of sleaze and violence is here to stay. The latest straight to DVD title to take up this tradition of imitation exploitation is the brilliantly named director Barry Battles and his southern set action flick The Baytown Outlaws.
The plot concerns the Oodie Brothers; McQueen, Brick and Lincoln (Clayne Crawford,Travis Fimmel and Daniel Cudmore) who basically run roughshod over a small town with the help of the local Sheriff who adopted them as kids and make a living as bounty hunters/hitmen. After a violent and hilarious case of mistaken identity, the Oodies are hired by Celeste (Eva Longoria) to rescue her crippled god son from her crime lord ex-husband Carlos (Billy Bob Thornton). Carlos doesn’t take this lying down however, he sends a crew of violent biker chicks, road pirates and ruthless Red Indian’s after...

As you already see from our title we have five new clips and ten pretty cool images from the whole thing, so make sure you check them all out!
As you probably know, Barry Battles directed this action comedy from a script he co-wrote with Griffin Hood, which will tell us the story of three brothers who agree agree to help a woman save her son from an abusive father & her ex-husband.

Not every film hits the mark. Hell, some films don’t even get the chance to take aim at the mark, either going straight to DVD or getting buried on some distributor’s shelf, only to finally sneak their way onto the shelves of video stores around the country (they still have those, right?) years later. Or dumped onto VOD without fanfare, as is the fashion nowadays. Just to be clear: I’m not saying these movies are great or destined for cult classic status, but in my very humble opinion, they are very watchable, and definitely deserve a second look if you skipped them the first time around for whatever reason. In no particular order… The Baytown Outlaws Director Barry Battles’ “The Baytown Outlaws”, about three Alabama redneck brothers who head off to Texas to save a handicap teen at the behest of Latina spitfire Eva Longoria, is about...

Director Barry Battles’ feature film directorial debut, the self-styled “Southern Whip-Ass Extravaganza” (though later promos for the film have lowered that by a very noticeable decibel or two) pits three violent Alabama brothers against Billy Bob Thornton, playing a Texas crime kingpin name Carlos. Not just any Texas crime kingpin, Carlos happens to have a legion of badass (and amusingly, themed) killers on his phone’s Contacts List. When the brothers bust into Carlos’ crib and abducts a teenager name Rob (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) at the behest of Celeste (Eva Longoria), the boys get more than they bargain for. First of all, Carlos has, you know, that Contacts List mentioned before, and Celeste neglected to tell the boys that Rob is confined to a wheelchair and is mentally challenged. Complications, as they say, ensue. Opening with a violent, over-the-top gunbattle between the Oodie Brothers — played with smelly verve by the trio of Clayne Crawford,...

The Baytown Outlaws
Directed by: Barry Battles

Release Date: January 18, 2013 (VOD on December 4, 2012)

Thoughts by Tsr: Joe Carnahan’s Smokin’ Aces came to mind while watching this trailer. That’s a film I enjoy watching from time to time, so on paper that wouldn’t necessarily be the worst comparison to be made. Unfortunately, this doesn’t have quite as strong of a cast as that film, something that adds to the sense that The Baytown Outlaws is simply a cheaper, even scuzzier knockoff.
I like a couple of the supporting players (while there are a million rounds of ammunition fired, the most exciting part is when Andre Braugher pops up for one second), but I guess Eva Longoria and Billy Bob Thornton are the ones who are supposed to get me to check this out. Pity then...

Barry Battles’ “The Baytown Outlaws” used to be called “The Baytown Disco”, which was just such an odd name as to be catchy. The new title, on the other hand, is a bit generic, but I guess that’s what happens when you sell your film to a distributor and said distributor thinks he knows better than you how to sell said film to the general public. Oh well. In any case, the film still looks awfully fun, though if you take a look at the poster above, it’s interesting that the film’s three main stars (the brothers in the film) don’t even get a mention. I can understand Billy Bob Thornton, but Eva Longoria? Really? After her ex-husband Carlos shoots Celeste three times in the gut, it’s time to play dirty. Barry Battles. The Baytown Outlaws (once known as The Baytown Disco) could and should be a ton of fun. On paper, it sounds like a Southern-fried Fargo, a double-barreled Grindhouse thriller set below the Mason-Dixon line. Even that first poster embraced its gritty, sleazy potential, turning a traditional Star Wars pose into a Smokey and the Bandit tribute. We were holding off fully embracing Baytown until we managed to see some footage, and now a full(ish) trailer setting up the not-so-complicated criminal plot that has been posted on Yahoo Movies. And the clip delivers on the giddy, guilty promise of the film.s explosive potential. Check it out right here: Nabbing Billy Bob Thornton for the role of chief redneck villain is fantastic. Adding Eva Longoria as the gratuitous hottie is effective (while not entirely groundbreaking). But the hook appears to be the idiotic brothers hired by Longoria.s...

Man, why’d they change the title to “The Baytown Outlaws”? “The Baytown Disco” just sounds so much cooler. It certainly seems to fit with the tone of the movie, which is wacky, violent, and brimming with politically incorrect redneck fun. In any case, Barry Battles’ “The Baytown Outlaws” has been acquired by Phase 4 Films, who have now set the action/comedy for an early 2013 release date. I’ve been following the film for a while now, and this is certainly good news (gratuitous title change notwithstanding). After her ex-husband Carlos shoots Celeste three times in the gut, it’s time to play dirty. In the fight for her godson, Rob, she hires three outlawed and redneck brothers to bring him back to her. But nothing can be that simple in the South. What begins as a small rescue mission rises to a southern battle royale. This odd team...

Here's the first promo trailer for an indie movie called The Baytown Disco, a comedic action flick about three Alabama brothers who end up on the run after trying to do a good deed. Brick, McQueen and Lincoln Oodie are known for operating on the wrong side of the law, but after a damsel in distress (Eva Longoria) requests their services, they decide to help rescue her son from her crooked ex-husband (Billy Bob Thornton). Unfortunately for them, the whole thing quickly goes to hell. Before you get too critical of the trailer itself, keep in mind that this is just a sales trailer trying to land distribution. If you ask me, the concept seems pretty outlandish and fun, and it even has a hint of The Coen Brothers' humour in there. First-time director Barry Battles co-wrote the script with Griffin Hood and it landed on the 2009 Black List. While that doesn't always mean anything,...

We’re still getting these movies? I sort of thought Smokin’ Aces would be the final trace of that pseudo-Tarantino ’90s crime-action riff, perfectly (relative use of the word) exemplified with The Boondock Saints. But there’s one more: Bary Battles‘ The Baytown Disco, a Southern-set actioner about three hillbilly brothers (Clayne Crawford, Daniel Cudmore, and Travis Fimmel) tasked by a woman (Eva Longoria) to rescue her godson from his criminal father (Billy Bob Thornton).
It’s not that I’d object to Disco if it was well-composed — well, actually, why would I object to anything that is? — it’s just that a new trailer, from Deadline, puts it right in the same company as those aforementioned films. And I hate those aforementioned films. Be it the grainy cinematography, clunky dialogue, bizarrely staged action scenes (I’ll concede that trailer editing could have an effect on this), or the sense...

When a film is described as a "Southern-fried whip-ass extravaganza" you just have to hope that people like Larry the Cable Guy aren't anywhere near it. Thankfully, The Baytown Disco from director Barry Battles keeps the blue collar comedian away, but brings real Southern flare to the story of three infamously ruthless Alabama brothers who find themselves on the wrong side of a smash-and-grab job after Celeste (Eva Longoria) dispatches the trio to get back her godson from her nefarious ex-husband Carlos (Billy Bob Thornton) who has kidnapped him. With a thriller buried in the deep South, this could be interesting. Here's the first trailer for Barry Battles' thriller The Baytown Disco (via Deadline): When the fetching Celeste (Eva Longoria) has a falling out with her nefarious ex-husband Carlos (Billy Bob Thornton) who kidnaps her beloved son, Rob. Knowing her ex can be a maniacal psychopath, not to mention a bit trigger-happy,...

I gotta admit, I’ve been waiting to see this ever since I saw the posters and synopsis for the film months ago. (Or maybe it was just the movie’s tagline: “A Southern Whip-Ass Extravaganza!”) And yup, it was definitely worth the wait, even if this trailer is kinda out of sync. Thankfully that doesn’t keep the film’s sheer awesomeness from shining through. Yes, it’s incredibly politically incorrect, but I get the feeling director/co-writer Barry Battles has more than just that up his sleeve. This odd...

A new poster for Barry Battles. The Baytown Disco promises .A Southern Whip-Ass Extravaganza!. And with Billy Bob Thornton in the lead role, that.s not too hard to imagine. Brace yourself for something epic, as the first official piece of marketing adopts a Star Wars-inspired character montage made famous by illustrator Drew Struzan. We have it below, or you can click here for a hi-res version: That.s not all. In addition to the poster, LLeuju Productions dropped two new images from the film, which you also can find in our Baytown Disco gallery. Why are we interested in this? And who is Barry Battles? Well, we.re not 100% sure yet, either. The actor, whose primary credit is Boys of Summerville, has one short on his directing resume (Mr. Extion), but he has cooked up a premise that has us pining for Raising Arizona-levels of Coen Brothers insanity.

Yet another groovy poster for Barry Battles’ “The Baytown Disco”, complete with a comprehensive synopsis for those of you who desire such things. I am dyin’ to see a trailer to this thing. It’s either gonna really fulfill all my dreams and expectations, or it’s gonna suck. I honestly can’t see it falling in somewhere in-between with a film like this. Here’s hoping it goes balls-out. (Balls-out or go home, that’s my motto.) "The Vampire Diaries" star Paul Wesley and his magnificent jaw line are headed to Louisiana, but it isn't for a quickie with Sookie.
The young actor will be joining Billy Bob Thorton and Eva Longoria in "The Baytown Disco," where Wesley will be playing a federal agent, of all things. No fangs necessary!
Barry Battles will be making his full-length directorial debut; he also co-wrote the script with Griffin Hood. The script has been loitering about since appearing on 2009's Hollywood "Black List," a yearly compilation of scripts that film execs liked but which aren't being made into movies in that particular year. Yeah, we don't get it either. But what it does mean is that if you look really hard, you can probably peep the script online already.
But back to "The Baytown Disco." According to The Wrap, Wesley's character federal agent Anthony Reese "comes into a small Southern...
