There have been a lot of Star Trek shows coming out in the past few years, but few have captured hearts and minds like Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. This prequel series follows Captain Pike (Anson Mount) and his crew aboard the USS Enterprise, filling in the years before Captain James T. Kirk took over the ship in the original series. After experimenting with weightier storytelling in Star Trek Discovery and Star Trek: Picard, Strange New Worlds signified a return to form for the franchise with its adventure-of-the-week episodes and lighter tone.
It's obvious that Paramount+ knows it's got a hit on its hands, because Strange New Worlds has already aired two seasons and has a third on the way in 2025. But that's not all! The show also got an early renewal for season 4 all the way back in April of 2024, so we've known for a while now that we've...

Sarah Michelle Gellar’s long-awaited return to the small screen has been cut short.
Paramount+ has officially canceled Wolf Pack ten months after its freshman finale.

Gellar, best known for her work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, played an arson investigator named Kristin Ramsey.
Despite spending much of the freshman season against the group of werewolves at the show’s core, the now-series finale found fans being let in on a big secret:

Paramount has decided to not move forward with a second season of “Wolf Pack,” Variety has confirmed.
Based on Edo Van Belkom’s book series and created by Jeff Davis, the show follows two teens whose lives are changed when a California wildfire awakens a supernatural creature. Season 1 aired in Jan 2023 alongside the “Teen Wolf” movie. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rodrigo Santoro, Armani Jackson, Bella Shepard, Chloe Rose Robertson and Tyler Lawrence Gray starred.
Sources say Paramount hoped the audience behind the series would have grown from Season 1 to Season 2, but due to the dual Hollywood strikes, the likelihood of that happening was cut short since production was stopped. Season 2 would’ve arrived roughly two years after Season 1 debuted.
The series serves as the latest Paramount+ original to be canceled following “Joe Pickett,” which ended after two seasons in October 2023. Along with the rest of last year’s cancellations including “iCarly,...

Wolf Pack, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, will not return to Paramount+ for a second season.
Although the drama series never was officially renewed for Season 2, the team was actively working on it, with production having been slated to begin in February, sources close to production told Deadline. Series creator Jeff Davis told the cast about the cancellation this week.
It comes as Paramount+ continues cutting costs, which also includes mass layoffs. Bob Bakish addressed this in a memo to his team on Thursday that the company will continue to reduce its global workforce “to operate as a leaner company and spend less” after Deadline revealed over the weekend that the company was bracing for more staff cuts, thought to be in the hundreds including the programming teams.

Paramount+ is letting its wolves go.
The streamer has canceled Wolf Pack after a single season, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. The series, an offshoot of former MTV favorite Teen Wolf and from creator Jeff Davis, wrapped its eight-episode run last March.
Sources say the streamer was keen on doing a second season of the series, but ultimately delays caused by the writers and actors strikes last year would have meant that a sophomore run would not have been ready until 2025. That, sources say, wasn’t going to work for Paramount+ as the platform would have had to spend more to market the show after being off the air for an extended period of time.
Star Sarah Michelle Gellar, who also exec produced the show, told The Hollywood Reporter in March that writing for a potential second season was already underway. “We plan to do one,” she said when asked...

After 26 years away from the supernatural monsters of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," Sarah Michelle Gellar is back in the pack with "Wolf Pack." The Paramount+ series, created by Jeff Davis ("Teen Wolf"), is based on the book of the same name by Edo van Belkom. When a fire causes animals to flee the forest, and some teens are injured, they discover that werewolves are real and living among them. Some of those attacked have become wolves as well. The series also stars Armani Jackson, Bella Shepard, Chloe Rose Robertson, Tyler Lawrence Gray, and Rodrigo Santoro.
The draw for many fans, however, is Gellar's return. After all, she did star as Buffy, a groundbreaking show for the time about a young woman who was far more than she appeared to be -- a vampire slayer who not only fought monsters but had a bunch of them as friends.
It may be flawed and of its time,...

[This story contains major spoilers from the first season of Wolf Pack.]
Sarah Michelle Gellar is already quite familiar with the supernatural world, but what drew her to the Paramount+ series Wolf Pack goes deeper into what the show represents.
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress’ latest project, which she stars in and executive produces, has her embracing werewolves, but in a way that gives her the opportunity to discuss important real-world topics, which she says is the reason she did the show. “Supernatural stories, in a really odd way, allow you to tell the most superhuman stories,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter.
While the series, written and produced by Jeff Davis, starts off as a “slow burn,” Gellar’s character eventually has two twists that most probably didn’t see coming — including when she’s revealed to be a werewolf. By the end of the first season, the high school-set horror show has answered many questions surrounding Gellar’s shocking character,...

Now, starring as Garrett Briggs, a father to werewolves and a park ranger with a secret in the Sarah Michelle Gellar-starring series, Santoro has taken on a new battle. He says, “I was just connected to the storytelling and the characters.”

Wolf Pack is one of the more exciting TV debuts this season. Thanks to the pedigree of the predecessor series Teen Wolf and a strong young cast led by Armani Jackson and Bella Shepard, there was strong momentum going into this week’s premiere. Oh, and it marks the return of one Sarah Michelle Gellar — yes, Buffy herself — to the young adult horror TV genre.
Gellar had previously stepped away from regular acting work to spend time with her young children. It’s a big deal to work with the TV veteran — and Jackson in particular was intimidated by the prospect.

Paramount+ has spooked up two hits with debuts “Teen Wolf: The Movie” and “Wolf Pack,” both of which hail from MTV Entertainment Studios, creator Jeff Davis (who’s under a multi-year deal at the studio) and MGM.
The former — a film revival of the beloved 2011 young-adult supernatural series that reunites a majority of the cast, including stars Tyler Posey and Tyler Hoechlin — broke the streamer’s record for the most-watched original move in the first day of its debut.
The latter, which stars and is executive produced by Sarah Michelle Gellar, marked the platform’s most-viewed YA show since the “iCarly” reboot, making it the No. 2 YA series premiere overall in its first 24 hours.

Horror television has been dominated by vampire shows based on books like True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, and Vampire Academy to name a few. Werewolves appeared on some, and also got their own show in Teen Wolf, based on the comedy movies. It’s a show with “Wolf” in the title, created by Jeff Davis, the same guy who created both “Criminal Minds” and the ridiculous and beloved TV show version of “Teen Wolf.” It’s got a diverse cast of hot 20-somethings playing teenagers who sometimes turn into wolves, and, most importantly, it stars supernatural teen drama icon Sarah Michelle Gellar. So it’s unfortunate that “Wolf Pack” doesn’t all come together, at least in the first two episodes made available for review.
The series centers on teens Everett (Armani Jackson) and Blake (Bella Shepard), two opposite teens who both get bitten by some mysterious wolf-like creature when their school bus is derailed by rapidly spreading wildfires. Everett ends up in the hospital with a nasty bite that seems to be quickly disappearing, while Blake rushes home...

Scream queen Sarah Michelle Gellar is back on the small screen, and we’re here for it! Edo Van Belkom’s “Wolf Pack” will leap off the pages in a new TV adaptation starring Gellar. “Teen Wolf” creator Jeff Davis has a two-in-one rollout of wolf-themed stories arriving at the end of January with the original spin-off film coming out the same day as “Wolf Pack.” Davis serves as executive producer on “Wolf Pack” in addition to writing as a part of his multi-year deal with MTV Entertainment Studios.
Joe Genier, Mike Elliott and Karen Gorodetzky also serve as executive producers for Capital Arts, and Jason Ensler, Michelle Gellar and Christian Taylor executive produce as well on the Paramount+ original series. Gellar plays a major role in the series, trading vampires for werewolves.

That was more than a little disappointing.
Wolf Pack Season 1 Episode 1 sloppily introduced us to a new group of teen wolves, and honestly, I expected far better than what we got on "From a Spark to a Flame."
Paramount+ put its marketing muscle behind the series in a way that made it seem like Sarah Michelle Gellar's arson investigator Kristin would be front and center.
Honestly, I wouldn't have minded the lack of Smg if the rest of the plots were half-interesting, but the series premiere served up a subpar installment that makes me worried about the series' future.
Out of the four teenagers, Blake was the easiest to connect with, and I have to imagine that was because Bella Shepard's acting was leaps and bounds better than her co-stars.
Blake's storyline was heartbreaking, primarily because she seemed to have more common sense than her father.

TV often turns to tried-and-true genres to create an instant connection with viewers. But no one would expect teenage werewolves to occupy the same space as procedural dramas and workplace sitcoms. Yet, that seems to be the case with the new Paramount+ show, Wolf Pack. The series follows in the footsteps of MTV’s Teen Wolf series. But here’s how it’s different.

While Teen Wolf and Wolf Pack might seem like they have loosely similar premises, and its true shows have the same mastermind behind them both: Producer Jeff Davis. Are you a Buffy fanatic who plans to check out Wolf Pack purely to get your Sarah Michelle Gellar fix? If so, the former slayer herself has something to tell you.
“I think the main thing for them to know is that it’s a little bit of a slow burn with me, and to trust that there’s a reason I’m on this show,” the actress tells TVLine ahead of Wolf Pack‘s Jan. 26 series premiere on Paramount+. “It might not be obvious at first, but I promise there will be twists that they will not see coming.
