Botching the planning
2 January 2010
This is one of the handful or so of featurettes on the DVD of Mission: Impossible II, and the only one that has a page here on the site. It consists of interviews, clips of the movie and behind-the-scenes footage. And yes, it is indeed a "making of", though it doesn't delve that deeply into any area of production. In fact, this feels more promotional than informational, with everyone just showering praise on one area or another(gotta love that Towne got to point out that he had to write the script *around* the action scenes, and not the other way around... maybe the studio thought that Woo being responsible for those would make people forget the plot, or didn't realize that aforementioned approach is, indeed, the wrong way to do it), and frankly, having re-watched the flick last night, I can't claim to recognize all of what they're saying. Are we all talking about the same movie? It's put together nicely enough, with good editing and pacing. And while there are better things on the disc, if you want to know about the film, this isn't too bad. I recommend this to fans of the picture itself. 5/10
