- Darkness: Oh, Mother Night! Fold your dark arms about me. Protect me in your black embrace. I sit alone, an impotent exile, whilst this form, this presence, returns to torment me!
- Darkness: You think you have won! What is light without dark? What are you without me? I am a part of you all. You can never defeat me. We are brothers eternal!
- Oona: What care I for human hearts? Soft and spiritless as porridge! A faerie's heart beats fierce and free!
- Meg Mucklebones: What a fine fat boy you are, Jack!
- Jack: You don't really mean to eat me, do you, ma'am?
- Meg Mucklebones: Oh, indeed I do!
- [cackles]
- Jack: That would be a shame because someone as fair and lovely as yourself, Miss Meg, deserves far better than scrawny me. Don't you think?
- Meg Mucklebones: Think me fair, do you, Jack?
- Jack: All the heavenly angels must envy your beauty.
- Meg Mucklebones: [cackles] What a fine meal you'll make, be the rest of you as sweet as your tongue!
- [cackles]
- Princess Lily: I hear a throat begging to be cut!
- Darkness: Are you so eager to see blood flow?
- Princess Lily: As eager as you are to drink it!
- Princess Lily: Are you afraid to kiss me, Jack?
- Jack: I'm afraid you'll break my heart.
- Princess Lily: Then still your heart, for you are dear to me as life itself.
- Jack: How do you know my name?
- [cranes head away in annoyance from Oona, who is buzzing around his head]
- Jack: Stop it! Go away!
- Gump: I know everything, Jack. Yet I do not understand what has happened today. Suppose you tell me, Jack? You know these woods as well as any elf. Did you not see something odd today, any strange spirits? Did nothing untoward happen?
- Jack: I took Lily to see the unicorn...
- Gump: [In outrage] You did what?
- [the other elves chatter noisily]
- Gump: Silence!
- [They hush]
- [Look what we have been through. Look who you are. Have faith in yourself. It is the greatest lesson you have learned]
- Darkness: I've found my true mate and you know it. Beneath the skin, we are already one. Was it not your sin that trapped the unicorn? Even now the evil seed of what you've done germinates within you.
- Darkness: Ah, Blix. Come closer.
- Blix: You summoned me, lordship?
- Darkness: Are you not the most, loathsome of my goblins?
- Blix: Truly, master.
- Darkness: And is your heart black, and full of hate?
- Blix: Black as midnight, black as pitch, blacker than the foulest witch.
- Darkness: That is why I have called you here. Since I must remain in darkness, you shall be my eyes and ears.
- Blix: You do me a great honor, lord.
- Darkness: Something troubles me... I feel a presence in the forest... A force I have mercifully almost forgotten.
- Blix: Must be dread indeed to trouble you, lordship.
- Darkness: Looking upon these frail creatures, one would not think that they could contain such power. One could rule the universe with it.
- [points to Blix]
- Darkness: You must find them for me, and destroy them.
- Blix: What did they look like, lord?
- Darkness: [grabs the dagger and points Blix's forehead] FOOL! Let this serve to remind you: The creature is crowned with a single spiral, reaching like an antenna straight to heaven.
- Blix: I get the point, lord.
- Darkness: Bring the horns to me.
- [throws the knife on the table]
- Darkness: You will be well rewarded. You shall be a prince, here in my realm.
- Blix: A rare privilege, master... Why should I look, sire?
- Darkness: There is only one lure for such disgusting goodness, one bait that never fails.
- Blix: What be this bait? Please, you teach me.
- Darkness: Innocence, innocence.
- Jack: [solves the riddle] Flowers...? Bluebells! To hear them ring, it means your life is at an end!
- Jon Anderson: Holy lightening strikes all that's evil/ teaching us to love for goodness sake.
- [first lines]
- Darkness: I am the Lord of Darkness. I require the solace of the shadows and the dark of the night. Sunshine is my destroyer. All this shall change. Tonight, the sun sets forever. There shall never be another dawn.
