Sex and lies in 1963 France
What a great surprise this little series! Acerbic but fun portrait of a microcosme straddling conformism and modernity at the dawn of sexual liberation. Everything works, from the historical context to the characters, well conceived and well acted. A great little soap opera with a surprising deep insight into the gender politics of the period, and into the eternal dynamics of power and generational conflict. A world away from the usual cookie-cutter Amazon series. Bravo les français.
Lovely show
Three dimensional characters, retro feel, interesting story lines
Worth a watch for sure.

Enjoyable !
Well, there are a few french TV show that is worth watching. Mixte is one of them. Well-acted and well-written, it has Aldo these true « retro » and nostalgia touches that keep us scotched to the screen.
BRILLIANT
I discovered this show by chance (they really don't advertise European products enough) and I'm so glad I did.
It's a gem: funny, tender, smart, overall it's a wholesome show.
It portraits very well the contradictions of the 60s, the old strict norms and the "revolution" coming.
You will laugh, get moved and fall in love with every character.

I love the show!
I've probably watched some episodes twice. It was that good! Highly recommended. It was more fun with the subtitles but the dubbed version is enjoyable too. Extremely well written. The actors make you forget this is fiction.

Loving and inspiring
Awesome and touching. To remind us to enjoy life, mostly because of these times. Impeccable performances, wonderful soundtrack, direction, photography, the storytelling, everything great! And it made bring good memories from my high school.

French sixties
Great show.
Very dark behind a light appearance. The characters ( teenagers and adults) all have a real existence, and every one of them is quite complex.
It's a pleasure to see a french show so nicely produced.

Boys and girls in the same high school in the same year where it was frowned upon for girls to wear a lot of makeup
what a nice surprise
I started to see without much expectation, but I was completely wrong and thankfully. How wonderful, the characters, the environment, the story. It's more drama than comedy, in fact there's little comedy. I loved seeing.
Couldn't stop until the end
One of those series we want to see until it arrives to the end and so adictive you don't want to stop watching. Every episode has some surprise and a lot of interesting stories going on at the same time.

A tv musical, set in a lovely French village
I forced myself to watch this whole first season (hoping there won't be a second), and often finding it hard to focus or be interested in the goings on. My main complaint complaint, apart from the very crowded storylines and over abundance of characters, was the constant overwhelming music and dance scenes. It really was like watching a Broadway musical (which I abhor) on tv. The actors, young and old, were ok but there were far too many and it all felt rushed, superficial and too busy to be able to get to know anyone properly. Very reminiscent of the productions and story of West Side Story. The period details were fine and luckily, the village itself kept my interest, as I adore everything French. The series A French Village, set in WW2, is much more enjoyable and more intelligent. This series will appeal to a certain audience, but not to an over-65er like me. It's just too fast-paced and unfocused. There were a few good social commentaries and themes, but it all got lost under the weight of the loud and constant songs.
Why no Season 2????
Great series, not just about the kids; teachers and families too! Well dubbed, excellent acting, deals with delicate subject matter for 1963. I can't figure out why Amazon nixed a second season. Disappointed in Amazon's decision, but it works as a one season wonder!

Beautiful coming of age series!
A well written story depicting how the lives get intertwined when they start co-education at this high school. Amazing cast portrays each character true to the heart, hats off to the direction. Screenplay is awesome, the loactions are wonderful. A mus watch series, eager for the second season!
Hidden Gem
Found the Hidden Gem foundling thru Prime.
For some reason with the exception of a few American shows, the international shows are becoming my preferred shows to watch. The international shows still have a sense of modesty and innocence that are becoming instinct in American shows.
Heck, even the American commercials are sensual. There's no more leaving some things to the eye of the beholder.
More importantly, the industry no longer care about the innocence of the young.
Therefore, I tend to live the international shows!!!

Simply brilliant!
I binged this in two days. This series is so entertaining. Amazing characters - and their development is great. The writing is quick, funny but also emotional. You really start to care about the characters. The scenery, music, fashion are also great, you get a nice 60s vibe.
Must watch!

OBSESSED
I wasn't prepared to love this show as much as I did, I opted for the English subtitles and French dub and was amazed by how invested I became. I am completely devastated to see that there are no current plans for a season 2 as the show was left with multiple loose threads. There's so much prime story telling left to this show, I know it will stand the test of time. I watched with my father and even as a show about 'teens' he agreed that it was a mature and enticing watch. So many characters still need more screen time and I know the original creator has more in store for us. Let's hope Amazon prime reconsiders the cancellation.

Simply wonderful
I was hooked after the first episode. A perfect mix of comedy and drama. The writing is superb and the production designer deserves an award. Each episode is so well directed and leaves me wanting more.
A charming surprise
As others have mentioned, a few facets of this drama are anachronistic - some music, some language, some conflicts - but in doing so, it captured the struggle between adult expectations and love beneath the surface in a way that may help young people better understand the limitations of life in the 1960s.
It also shows the ugly side of homophobia and misogyny, and the ways the characters were doing their best in a world that was hard to navigate unless they followed a s path set out for them. As a result, they are easy to care and cheer for.
For a lighter story, it was filled with deep truths. I hope there is a second season.

WANT SEASON 2
"Mixte 1963" is an outstanding series that captivates viewers with its compelling storyline and dynamic characters. It's truly a shame that there isn't a season 2 already in the works. The creators have crafted a world so rich and engaging that fans are clamoring for more. Furthermore, the chemistry between the characters is palpable, drawing viewers into their interconnected lives and relationships. Whether it's the forbidden romance between two students from rival schools or the tensions simmering beneath the surface of a prestigious boarding school, each storyline is imbued with tension and emotion, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats. The show's popularity has surged, with an ever-growing audience eagerly awaiting further developments. Here's hoping the makers heed the call and continue the journey with a second season, building upon the success and momentum of the first.

Great French high-school series
It's very entertaining and I was inmediately hooked. The stories of the characters are relatable and touching and soon you're invested. The main topic is also interesting, about the first mixed high-school in France and the struggle they all went through: the girls, the boys, the profs...It's kind of a French "Sex education" but set in the sixties and not so focused on sex. I totally recommend it.

This is not just a typical school drama
This drama tells the story of students and teachers who fight desperately while being thrown around by the times.
In every aspect, this drama surpasses other school dramas. Each character's individuality is well expressed, and the atmosphere of 1960s France is also well created. (I particularly like Simone's character.) Additionally, as a Japanese viewer, I think French people's clothing is very stylish. The subtle differences in the clothing of each student and teacher are also interesting to watch. The music that plays throughout the drama is also excellent.
The music, fashion, and individuality of the characters are all matched together very well.
