Ce vidéo-documentaire vise à apporter quelques éclairages sur le contexte brésilien des années de la dictature (1964-1985). Il fait suite au film (1) qui présentait la Commission Nationale de la Vérité (CNV).
Les deux historiens, Angelica Müller (chercheuse associée au CHS qui a participé aux travaux de la Commission Vérité) et Bruno Groppo (Centre d'Histoire Sociale, CHS) abordent des questions comme les influences internationales (Etats-Unis, France) qui ont favorisé l'arrivée ou le maintien de la dictature militaire, ils expliquent également l'évolution du régime durant cette période, la répression et la façon dont l'opposition à la dictature s'est positionnée à l'issue de la dictature. Des extraits du témoignages de l'ex-président Lula permettent de saisir le Brésil de la fin des années 1970, à l'aube de sa transition vers la démocratie. Deux séquences ont été enregistrées lors de l'émission "La marche du Monde" (radio France Internationale), qui a également contribué à la mise en place des traductions de témoignages pour ce film.
