About

As Senior Web Developer at White Noise Communications I have built more than 50 websites for companies such as Euroz Hartleys, Future Battery Minerals, Catalyst Metals and Astral Resources, transforming Adobe XD projects into custom Wordpress themes, incorporating various APIs and js libraries and using robust development workflows, from local development, staging and testing, through to live deployments. My role includes domain and web hosting management and extensive troubleshooting of inherited websites and hosting, including security issues.

I have also run Kite Online since 2013 specialising in digital audits, digital strategy development, content marketing, SEO (including use of tools such as SEMRush), pay per click (including $10,000USD/month Google Ad Grant management), email marketing and social media, and have designed, developed and project managed a number of websites, specialising in Wordpress, with a focus on information architecture, usability and responsive design.

Kite Online clients have included Prince's Trust Mosaic, CareTech Foundation, Championing Social Care (UK) and Optiro.

I work extensively with Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to track user interactions with websites and design and develop user interfaces accordingly.

I combine technical knowledge with the ability to communicate complex ideas to help clients effectively engage with their customers.

I have an eye for detail, can anticipate project issues, risk and identify opportunities, and find creative solutions to complex problems.

I have a background in film & television production and previously worked in Australian federal politics. I have researched and written speeches for multiple politicians including Secretaries of State in the UK.

Photography is a big part of my work and life and I'm also a devoted Fremantle Dockers and Arsenal fan.

  • Prince's Trust Mosaic website

I designed, developed and content-produced the new Prince's Trust Mosaic website including migrating existing news and blog content spanning close to 1000 posts and 1 gigabyte of imagery.

The project had a heavy focus on user experience particularly regarding site architecture which had hampered the previous site. Prince's Trust Mosaic key targets/stakeholders are now front and centre - mentors, corporate mentors and partners, institutions/programme hosts, donations.

The design and architecture utilise Mosaic's extensive news and blog content, imagery and video content. The homepage video was re-purposed and looped using existing Mosaic promotional videos via Adobe Premiere Pro.

The site is built on Wordpress using the Genesis Framework and a bespoke Genesis child theme, and adopts the Gutenberg editor.

The site incorporates multiple custom Mapbox GL JS maps with cluster marker functionality.

The site adheres to EU GDPR laws via plugin cookies and custom Google Tag Manager triggers and variables.

The site uses the CSS Grid Layout extensively.

Due to it's size, the site was manually deployed/migrated, relying on WP-CLI for search and replace (GUID excluded).

Version control is handled via Bitbucket and the Command Line.
