Cyclonetracker7586, the NOAA copyright tag doesn't seem correct. The image is listed in the source as coming from the Himawari-9 satellite and published by the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere at Colorado State University. Please check the licensing information. --Paul_012 (talk) 14:12, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Paul 012 The Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere at Colorado State University (CIRA) is a branch that operates under a cooperative agreement with NOAA, this is why I posted NOAA's licensing information of this GIF since it comes from CIRA, which produce satellite images from GOES-16 (with the help of NOAA), GOES-18 (also with the help of NOAA), and Himawari-9 (with the help of the Japan Meteorological Agency and NOAA), I hope that you understand what I am saying, cheers and have a good day sir :) . A cooperative agreement with the NOAA doesn't seem like reason for images created with such assistance to be considered NOAA work. Maybe a wider discussion will be needed to examine the issue. --Paul_012 (talk) 17:05, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Paul 012 Is it better ask a admin to switch the licensing information to the Japan Meteorological Agency since this was taken from their satellite? Because I did find this information on this page Rammb-Cira Satellite Library which is the same website I got this GIF from we can credit the JMA for Himawari-8 and Himawari-9 imagery. That would make the attribution clearer, but as the image doesn't come from the JMA website I don't think it'd be appropriate to use the {{JMA}} tag either. --Paul_012 (talk) 05:06, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
