Hierarchy
Hey neuro I felt it better to respond here on your talk page rather than at my RFA, in that you brought up a situation that has been skirted around for sometime here at Wikipedia. "Hierarchy" and the Wikipedia motto that the administrator is just another editor with some extra buttons. However, lets be realistic, any individual that has the power to block another editor is not just another editor. Likewise, an individual that has access to other areas that an average editor does not, is not just another editor. As William James once explained; “…hierarchy is established as quickly as one individual has the ability to censor another”. Which can be viewed as “Blocking”. Do I look up to administrator, Ahhh. Like any group of individuals, you find Great - Bad and indifferent. Do I hold administrators to a higher standard, Yes I Do, just for the fact that they do have the ability to Block/censor another individual. . Buy many neophytes editors do look-up to administrators for guidance, So for my feelings, that oppose was perfectly legitimate. Thanks. <font face="Times New Roman">ShoesssS Talk</font> 14:35, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
:I was talking about an ideal, not an actuality. I am well aware of the sad actuality. Thanks, <b>—&nbsp;<font color="#5A3696" face="Trebuchet MS">neuro</font></b> 14:38, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
:::LOL some day the two will meet. However, I do not see it happening in my lifetime. <font face="Times New Roman">ShoesssS Talk</font> 14:41, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
::::Wikipedia will no doubt be long dead before either of us bites the dust. Whether actualities and ideals meet within Wikipedia's lifespan, I don't know, but let's hope so. <b>—&nbsp;<font color="#5A3696" face="Trebuchet MS">neuro</font></b> 14:43, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Notice
Thanks for that. I considered doing that, but I was in a rush to do something, so I didn't bother at the time. I also noticed you've only been here longer than me for one day, so Happy Belated! Kevin Rutherford (talk) 22:04, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Still confused
I'm still confused about the "blocking a registered user without any prior notice or warning" question - I elaborated at the RfA talk page--<font style="font-family:Monotype Corsiva; font-size:15px;"><span style="background:#002868;color:#fff;padding:0 4px">SPhilbrick</span><span style="background:#ADD8E6;padding:0 4px;color:#fff;">T</span></font> 17:23, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
::Drop me a note on my talk page about the areas you need me to explain further, and more than happy to address those concerns. <font face="Times New Roman">ShoesssS Talk</font> 18:22, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

Nice request
Hi there Chris, I notice that you are interested in Bloc Party. I have nominated Intimacy at FAC here and would appreciate some input from you and possibly a verdict. <font color="red">RB88</font><small>&nbsp;(T)</small> 19:17, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

:: Much appreciated. It's been stagnating for a while and I reckon it just needs a tiny bit more input for promotion. <font color="red">RB88</font><small>&nbsp;(T)</small> 11:57, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Copyright conversations
This is so the way they go. :/ I wonder if VPT would bring feedback from people who actually know the answer? Those of us who handle copyrights don't seem necessarily to be that technical. At least, some of us. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:57, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
:The issue isn't one of technicality, it is one of legality. The template does nothing to stop the downloading of the copyvio content. I think that VPT might be the wrong way to go, I might bring it up on the mailing lists later. :) <b>—&nbsp;<font color="#5A3696" face="Trebuchet MS">neuro</font></b> 14:03, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
::All righty. :) I'm all for blocking the illegal transmission of copyvio material via Wikipedia, but I'm not even sure what "raw source" means. :D So far as I know, this whole computer thing is just magic. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:07, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
:::If you're using Firefox, CTRL + U. That should explain what it is. :) <b>—&nbsp;<font color="#5A3696" face="Trebuchet MS">neuro</font></b> 14:08, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
::::Ah! I see. And I've looked at an article currently blanked the standard way with copyvio, and I see the copyrighted text there. This gets put on my computer automatically when I look at a page, I take it? Is there any way to get that material to disappear short of requesting that taggers blank it? As you probably know from reading the thread that launched the change, the problem then was that people weren't blanking at all. Maybe what we should do is request that they blank it but leave the auto-blank function as at least some safeguard over the old-fashioned copyright warning right on top of the plainly published material? This should be at WT:CP. I'll go duplicate it there. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:12, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
:::::What you have seen is the raw source, most of it HTML. The copyviocore template you use simply creates a <div> attribute that is designed to tell the browser to not show the text to the end user. So instead of the text not being there, it is simply being told not to show. And therefore, for it to be told not to show, it has to be there. You can see the copyright dilemma. :)

:::::I'll follow you over to WP:CP. :) <b>—&nbsp;<font color="#5A3696" face="Trebuchet MS">neuro</font></b> 14:17, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I see you have interveined before in the case of this user's user page. This user has lately been trying to annoy me (even putting a vandalism warning in my user page for no apparent reason), and upon inspection I see his whole user page is a nonsensical mashup of stuff which even includes him having made more than 25000 contributions to Wikipedia (when in fact he only has about 116), him living in BOTH Florida and Washington, memberships in Wikiprojects he isn't a member of, barnstars he hasn't earned, you name it. Since you've been into the subject before I wondered if you knew what is the action to be taken on the matter. Thanks in advance. --uKER (talk) 06:40, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi! Just to leave you a little note here, that if you think of anything related to identities on Wikipedia, should not always be stored as WP:SOCK.
