Dinoshark is a 2010 low budget Syfy horror film.

Background

The film premiered on Syfy on the evening of March 13, 2010.[1] The film had 2 million viewers during the premiere.[2] Dinoshark is sort of a follow-up to Dinocroc. When Roger Corman wanted to do Dinocroc 2, Syfy executives said that television audiences respond better to new-but-similar ideas more than direct sequels.[3] April MacIntyre, of Monsters and Critics compared the film to old B movies.[1] There is a planned sequel called Dinocroc vs. Supergator. Roger Corman said that the plot is hard to believe, but he asks the audience to accept thtat verything else is logical from then on and is something that could happen. Dinoshark has been described as Dinocroc with flippers.[4] Before the film was released, Margaret Lyons of Entertainment Weekly said that this along with Sharktopus were destined to be television film classics.[5]

Plot summary

The film opens with a baby dinoshark swimming away from a broken chunk of Arctic glacier. The glacier was brke by global warming. Three years later, the dinoshark is a ferocious adult. The dinsoshark kills tourists and locals off of the coast of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The first one to notice the Dinoshark is Trace, who witnesses his friend get eaten. He has trouble convincing people that a 150 million year old is eating people.

Reception

A Dread Central review said that that i f you're not a regular watcher of schlocky shark flicks, then you'll probably have a good time laughing at this silly offering in which half the cast sound like they were voiced over by George Lopez.[6] April MacIntyre, of Monsters and Critics, said that she wouldn't want the film any other way.[1]
