We are pleased to introduce the 2024-2025 class of Weil Legal Innovators, our flagship multi-stakeholder public service initiative. This dedicated group of rising law school students will have the opportunity to work on social and legal challenges at these leading nonprofits: the ACLU of Texas, the Clooney Foundation for Justice, Graham Windham, the International Rescue Committee, the National Women's Law Center, The Posse Foundation, Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, the United Way of New York City and the World Wildlife Fund. The Innovators deferred entering their first year of study at one of our WLI partner law schools to complete a year of public service focusing on a variety of issues, including gender equality, human rights, housing justice and ESG. As part of the program, they will also participate in robust professional development programming throughout the year facilitated by leaders in the nonprofit and business sector, as well as mentorship from Weil lawyers and professional staff. Congratulations to the class of 2024-2025, we are excited to see all you will accomplish! Weil won a decisive victory on behalf of client New York City Regional Center, LLC, when the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit issued an order affirming in its entirety a lower court’s dismissal of all claims in a $50M+ investor “mass action.” The Second Circuit’s ruling upholds a September 28, 2023 decision by the S.D.N.Y. dismissing with prejudice all of the more than 100 EB-5 investor plaintiffs’ fraudulent inducement and breach of fiduciary duty claims asserted against NYCRC. The Weil team was led by David Lender, Co-Chair of Weil’s global Litigation Department, and Gregory Silbert, Co-Head of the Firm’s Complex Commercial Litigation and Appeals and Strategic Counseling practices.
