ജീവിതരേഖ

ബദൽ ജീവിത പ്രചാരകനായ പിതാവിന്റെയും മാധ്യമ പ്രവർത്തകയായ അമ്മയുടെ മകനായി ബർലിനിൽ ജനിച്ചു. ജൂതനായ പിതാവിനെ നാസികൾ കൊലപ്പെടുത്തി.

1966 ൽ ഫീൽഡ് മെഡൽപുരസ്കാരം ലഭിച്ചെങ്കിലും നിരസിച്ചു. ലോകത്തിലെ പ്രധാന സർവകലാശാലകളിലെ ജോലി വാഗ്ദാനങ്ങളും സ്വീകരിച്ചില്ല. 1968 ലെ പാരീസ് വിദ്യാർത്ഥി പ്രക്ഷഓഭത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്തു. ഇറ്റാലിയൻ പ്രതിരോധ മന്ത്രാലയത്തിന്റെ ഫണ്ട് സ്വീകരിച്ച ഹയർ സയന്റിഫിക് ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ടിലെ അംഗത്വം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു. പരിസ്ഥിതി രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിലും ആണവ വിരുദ്ധ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളിലും സജീവ പങ്കാളിയായി.
