The best part of this novella is that Ozias and Selene tax the rich to ensure shelter and food for everyone.Yay!
Unfortunately, there are a whole bunch of problematic things that pretty much ruined the book for me.
Some examples:
CN Acephobia
- Ozias is described as asexual by Selene.
Actually, he just hasn't gone through puberty yet and after that happens he's practically horny all the time and feels "finally like a male".
But there is nothing wrong or not developed enough with asexual men and all the other ace people, they are just asexual and this storyline would have been possible without reproducing discrimination.
- Ozias wants to wait until the wedding to have sex. Selene hardly accepts his limit and often mentions how long he keeps her waiting and whether she even wants him like that anymore... Urgh.
- Selene mentions that she only gives BJs on birthdays and special occasions and that she never swallows - except with Ozias, of course.
So with all her previous partners she only did this out of a sense of duty? Why is this in books in 2023? We don't own anyone any sexual practices. Urgh.
- Ozias says Selene's high sex drive is one of his favorite things about her - meh. Sense of pleasure changes in different phases of life, for very different reasons... Urgh.
- "In our heart of hearts, don't we all want to marry the handsome monarch?" - Well, no?! Heteronormativity is a cult. Beurk.

Zero to Hero
Please imaging the muses from the Disney Hercules singing that song while reading this review.
Both MCs were so stuck in ruts that it took a huge kick in the pants to get anything started. And then it took an extra dose of almost literally growing a pair. They both found their self confidence and fell in love while insisting to themselves they couldn’t, for some pretty valid reasons. I was hoping for a scene where Oz defended Selene’s honor, or at least her beauty, when someone was mean to her, but alas that didn’t happen. It was still a good book though.

Unassuming Devil Dons Dominance Igniting Fiery Filled Frenzy!!!
Selene is the only waitress in the Diner who's not afraid to serve the one the others have dubbed "demon". Does he look like one? Yes but that's besides the point. He always orders the same thing and doesn't even seem interested in making conversation. With the Diner permanently closing today, his will be the last order she has to take anyway.
Ozias hasn't been in the mood to eat for the last few days. He's received bad news but that's not the reason. Besides, the food here isn't that good. The problem? Not only is he the only heir to the throne of his father's planet but he must also find a mate as soon as possible!
He wants neither but has no choice. Maybe, just maybe. Since Selene needs a job and he needs a "wingman" of sorts. .
If she understands his offer correctly, all she has to do is go with him to this planet, hang out with him, weed out the duds and fakes, then fake a few headaches so they can leave early and she doesn't have to sleep with him? And in return she gets a new wardrobe and a salary? DEAL!
What may have started out as awkward soon leads to surprises and BIG changes for both of them! And I will say that. . .mutual discovery is EXCITING! 😉
As they grow closer and troubles arise, can he choose what his people need or will he choose what his heart wants? I invite you to enjoy their story and delight in their. . discoveries. I know I enjoyed it!

Ozias and Selene. Oh my! We're talking Hot with a capital H! I loved that we spent the most time getting to know our Ozias and Selene. Normally I don't read books with demons in them. I don't like genre. But this is Alana Khan so I had to at least try it...she is such an amazing writer. To my very great surprise I loved this story. I loved the growth in both characters and in their relationship. They become true friends and that makes their love, their romance wonderful. I'm enjoying this multi-author series tremendously!

Another cute holiday story.
Destined for a future he didn't know existed, Ozias's life is turned upside down again. This time though proves very advantageous for him.
Knowing he has a foreboding presence he seeks comfort and solace around a human female who has somewhat acclimated to his appearance.
When unforeseen circumstances force them together he sees an opportunity to employ her as his wingman.
This journey leads to more of an understanding for each other. A friendship that only grows stronger and stronger the more they are together

Ozias was raised on the planet Hallion by his human mother. She was Emperor Suetonius’s mistress on planet Infernia, until she got pregnant. Then she was shipped off to raise her son on her own. Ozias has never even met his father. So when his father and three brothers are killed when their spacecraft blew up, he is shocked to learn he is the next in line for the throne. At first he refuses to have anything to do with that, but he finally agrees to at least go and look at the planet. But when he learns he is expected to take a mate, he talks Selene into being his “wingman “, so she can discretely screen the candidates.
Selene is a waitress working on Hallion and is the only one there that will wait on Ozias. When the restaurant goes bankrupt he is the last customer to be served. So when he offers her a job for a few weeks for a ridiculous amount of money, she figures why not.
But when they arrive on Infernia, there is definitely something hinky afoot. These two will need all their wits about them to figure out the real agenda and escape with their lives!
An excellent, cute and sexy adventure with lots of intrigue and emotion!

I really enjoyed reading Selene and Ozias's story. Ozias goes to Selene's diner three times a week. Selene is the only waitress who serves him because of his demon qualities. This is the start of a wonderful romance when Selene takes a job working for Ozias on his home planet. Ozias is to become the new Emperor while Selene's job is to help him find an Infernian mate but, along the line, Selene falls hard for the sweet Ozias and Ozias cannot get Selene out of his mind and heart. This is a well written and a sweet and steamy romance with a wonderful epilogue and a happy ending.

Ozias has always been reserved, he has lunch at a human cafe three days a week despite how the staff look at him. Only Selene braves his tableside, so much so she has his orders memorized. But when he gets a communication that the father who abandoned him and the brothers he never knew have died and he is the next emperor of their planet he is floored. Oh and he has to find a mate. But he's never had any interest in females, he has no idea what to do, so he hires Selene to be his wingwoman and help him find a suitable life partner who won't mind just being there for show.
This one was interesting, Ozias originally presents as somewhat Asexual, but later we learn it's because he hasn't gone through his species version of puberty. After the shift, he turns into a dominant and slightly sex craved male. Selene Finds herself falling for him and really not looking forward to his coronation and also discovers she has a pretty good praise kink. I personally found it interesting how his species has a puberty thing that flips the switch on that sort of thing, and maybe it's just him, but it was different.

Wow, could not put this one down! I read it in one sitting. It's a quick, fun read with some really steamy sexy scenes(fans self), low angst, and a great happily every after. It's a must read!

Selene has just lost her job when she’s propositioned by Ozias, a regular diner where she waitresses. She’s just as surprised as Oz is to learn he’s Infernia’s new Emperor. She desperately needs the money and agrees to accompany him to Infernia. Once they arrive there, she’s awoken one night by his pain-filled moans and races into his room finding him burning up and in extreme pain. Over the next 2 days she nurses him back to health and finds he’s changed quite a bit from the quiet male to a primed-for-sex male after suffering through what the Infernians call the “Shift.”
Ozias is a low-level government lawyer on planet Hallion. His human mother was mistress to the Emperor of planet Infernia and was exiled when she became pregnant with Ozias. He’d never even met his father or three half-brothers. Now, they are all dead and he suddenly becomes his father’s heir. His new advisors tell him to find an Infernian mate ASAP. He hires an out-of-work human waitress as his “wingman” to help screen the plethora of female candidates to find someone who is tolerable and they both head to Infernia.
Now even though Selene and Oz are attracted to each other, she digs in to fulfill her promise to help him find an Infernian mate. Along the way, they uncover rampant corruption and are horrified by the oppression and terrible living conditions of millions of Infernians. Ozias’ circle of advisors are less-than-motivated to improve the lives of the impoverished.
Unexpectedly, Oz and Selene are covertly approached by members of a secret underground group who are secretly working to overthrow the corrupt governing aristocrats and make life better for everyone. First time reading this author. I started reading the series because Honey Phillips is the author of the first book in this series. So I figured I would stick with it and discover a few new authors while enjoying the series. This is the second book and I truly did enjoy it. Imagine Selene being offered the job as a wingman for the soon to be ruler of his planet. Ozias is half human common. He never did know too much about his roots and since his father wanted, nothing to do with his human after she was pregnant, he wasn’t interested. Come to find out his father and three brothers were all killed and now he seems to be next in line to be the emperor. It’s hard to imagine him being handsome seeing that he looks a little bit like what you would think of the devil. But the description is so good that you can see where you would find him handsome. Now they’re both off to his home planet, where he has to be crowned Emperor and told he needs to find a bride, considering both Ozias and Selene have fallen for each other and are so in love with each other. It does complicate matters. Along with those that would like to see him dead before taking the crown. This book has everything in it that keeps you reading, it’s exciting, backstabbing, figuring out who your allies are, all while, trying to figure out your relationship and save your planet. Awesome happily ever after.

Selene's in a bit of a tough spot (dumped by the guy she followed off-world and about to be without a job) when Ozias asks her to accompany him to his home planet. Which he's never been to. And he's now the ruler of. The kicker? Ozias and Selene don't know one another more than in passing (he's a patron at the diner she works at) and neither of them have ANY idea how steamy things are going to get.
To be fair, Ozias hadn't gone through his shift (basically puberty for his people) prior to landing on-planet and he didn't expect to be hit by all the feels and other bodily nudges that came along with it. Selene was his rock while he was going through everything AND he liked her as a person. Which means that THINGS HAPPENED as soon as his body was able to function in a semi-coherent fashion.
On Selene's end, she's trying to be realistic about this weird scenario she's suddenly found herself in. While she thinks Ozias is a hottie from the start, she doesn't REALLY start noticing him until he notices her. Then? THINGS GET PHYSICAL. Sort of.
An unexpected inheritance, a planet that needs a solid ruler, a male who knows what he wants, and a lady who can't stand by idly while her man is dealing with things. Alien lovin', YES!

Selene is a waitress at a diner where a demon-looking male shows up like clockwork three times a week. The other waitresses insist she wait on him since his appearance doesn’t frighten her. Their interactions are limited until the day the diner is going out of business. Oz has just been notified that he is designated to rule the planet Infernia since his father and three brothers had died. The possibility of him becoming emperor had never seemed a possibility since he was a half human bastard.
Oz’s social skills and ability to read other’s intentions are severely lacking so he hires Selene to help him maneuver what is sure to be a situation rife with pitfalls. He additionally is supposed to wed as soon as possible and he requests she act as a buffer between him and potential mates.
Oz had never had any sexual inclinations but he suffers an awakening after his arrival on the planet. It usually occurs during adolescence but his wasn’t triggered until he arrived on Infernia. Selene stays by his side during the ordeal. Once recovered Oz now has an extremely active libido and Selene helps him learn what to do with it. He realizes his previously unrecognized attraction to Selene had been the reason he kept returning to the diner. Fortunately his feelings are reciprocated and it all works out in the end.

A short and steamy tail (yes I said TAIL not tale lol... cuz she gets a bit of tail in a scene....bhahah) ok.. here we go. So he needs someone to help him find the right woman because he is a hybrid and hasn't been able to "feel" his mate.. or any feelings really. So he hires his waitress to come with him to his birth dads planet to help him find the right mate for him so he can take his rightful position there. She needs the money so she accepts (thinking he is a bit "off" but hey, money is money lol) So off they go.. Only to find out that when they land, he just needed his birth fathers planet for his emotions to kick in.. and when they do, he found his mate is right where he needs her... read the book to figure out who it is (snicker). Again, great short story and the plot is what it is for this short of a story. So those that are putting it down? get over it lol. But I enjoyed the fun in what the duo does to mess with his father's staff and the rest of his family while on the planet as well as the fun they have together :)

THE SHIFT!!!!!!
In the beginning, I wondered what Ozias' issue was, but I get it when you were raised by your mom and your father doesn't acknowledge you or your connection. Being an afterthought hurts, and it is not something that easily heals. But going "home" (pun intended) brings everything full circle. Not only does he help his planet, but he comes into his own and learns that he is loved more than he knew.
Selene has done aht most women dofall hard for the wrong guy and accepts her lot in life. Something about Ozias catches and ke3ps her attention. On a fluke, she becomes his confidant, and wingman and...falls hard. During that time, she learns to accept him and who is becoming along with seeing him for the first time. She also comes to see that sometimes taking the chance on an improbable turns out to be the most possible!!!!
Again, Alana has a way of giving us the push to see ourselves in the monster and know that we ain't so bad and we think we are.sometim3s we all need a wingman...ahhh better yet a wingwoman...heheheh!!!!!

Selene finds herself alone on a distant planet (after her boyfriend leaves for richer prospects) and soon to be unemployed. She has been Oz's waitress for months since none of the other staff wanted to serve a male who resembles the devil. Oz is also at a crossroads as he discovers that he is to become emperor of a planet he has never been allowed to visit and for citizens he does not know. Oz offers Selene an opportunity to earn money for two weeks as his wingman where her job is to discover friend from foe and hopefully find which female would make a suitable mate. Great World-building and Romance!!
Ozias was ignored by his family because he had a human mother. Upon the death of his father and half-siblings he is now next in line to the throne. Asked to travel to attend a gala and select a mate, he hires a “wingman” (or woman) to assist.
Selene is jobless and jumps at the job offered. She gets more than she bargains for when landing on his “home” planet for the first time he has his Infernian Shift, and she become his focus of interest.
Sweet and sexy, pure entertainment.

Ozias has not had the best experiences in his young life. His mom fell in low with a demon Emperor and was impregnated. Since they were not the same, the Emperor had to send her away and hide the pregnancy. She could not return to Earth because her son would look like the Emperor, aka a demon, and that would not be safe. Later as an adult, Ozias just felt alone and isolated, even though his mum did educate him on his father’s planet and people. Then one day Ozias meets Selene, a waitress, in the diner that he frequents. Selene treats him like a regular customer and not afraid of him. Their journey begins there. . . . Read On!

Ozias eats at the diner three days a week, he's meek and unassuming. Selene, tho nervous around him, always waits on him. When she lets him know the diner is closing, he has a ' proposition ' for her. She is appalled until he explains.
There are so many great characters, locations and details in this story to love and absorb. Alana is a wonderful storyteller and I know every time I open her book I am in for a pleasurable treat. If you need to read a sweet love story filled with plot twists, angst, the Infernium shift, and steam, this is the tale/ tail for you.

A compelling read, that is fun and sexy too!
Selene and Ozias are adorable together. Although they've been acquainted for a few months, they don't really speak until the day that both of their lives hit a fork in the path. They make a deal and spend the rest of the book quietly falling for eachother. I loved the flow of the story and can appreciate how this author combines humanity, humor, and sensuality, all while moving the story along in a way that keeps you turning the pages to see what's coming next! I enjoyed this book immensely!

This book was so sweet. Selene has had bad relationships in the past so she wasn’t looking for anything except how to survive. Her job was ending, so her living situation was about to become more difficult when an unexpected opportunity came along.
Ozias is a very nice demon looking male who has been coming into the diner where Selene works for quite a while. Read this book to find out how he changes both their lives. I liked this book a lot and look forward to more by this author.

This was a great addition to this fun multi author series and I really enjoyed seeing Ozias find someone to love him. Selene was the only waitress that would serve him at the bar and when he gets summoned as next in line to the throne, he asks her to accompany him. She's on board because the bar is ready to close down. With time together, they find they are more than pals looking out for each other. Expect an entertaining read that has great steam and a wonderful HEA. Good fun!

A great holiday alien romance, that added to the wonderful books our favourite authors produced for us.. Alana Kahn always gives us great reads and wonderful characters and this was just so, with this Christmas Holidate book. :D
Selene takes on the role of matchmaker for Ozias, but it kinda backfires when he falls for her! Not his own kind. Such a fun read and always enjoy this authors works. :D

When I first read Ozias, my reaction was "huh?!?!" He's not what we think a MMC should be. But read on because our Ozias is not what he appears to be. It's a good surprise, and he proves to be a good Infernian, more than good, and as hot-blooded as they are.

The newest installment from the various swoon worthy aliens residing on Planet Hallion. This one takes us to holidays on a different planet with a sweet and unassuming demon. Once there, the air has other ideas on how he should behave and his hired wingwoman decides she'd like a taste of his new personality. Great read, always a happily ever after, and an overall fun little romance.

Ozias and Selene had an interesting arrangement that was destined not to work right from the very beginning. This was an interesting sci-fi story with the greatest focus on getting to know and growing to love another person for themselves. Sweet yet steamy with some fun banter on the way made this novella a pleasure to read.

Incredibly sweet and hot. Ozias never entered how home world and when his father and brothers died, he is sumoned to inherit the throne, even being a bastardo, he is the some Heir now. He never had feelings or desires but when he enters his world... Things are about to get very hot. I just love this new world from this amazing author.
