Butting heads leads to knocking boots in this wildly sexy enemies-to-lovers, grumpy/sunshine, small town cowboy romance by Jessica Peterson.

My dad and I have been estranged for years. But as his only living relative, it’s no surprise I inherit his massive cattle ranch when he dies. Something that is a surprise? The stipulation in his will, which requires me to live on the ranch and actively manage it for a year before I can access my inheritance money.

I haven’t stepped foot in Hartsville, Texas, population one thousand, since my parents split when I was six. Now a city girl through and through, I never imagined having to move back to cowboy country. But I need the money to invest in my company, and a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.

There’s just one giant roadblock to my plan: the ranch’s foreman, grumpy cowboy Cash Rivers. I don’t care how good he looks in his Wranglers and chaps. He’s rude, he’s growly, and he wants me gone. I’d fire him in a heartbeat, but I need this cowboy to teach me the ropes of running a ranch.

We’re enemies from the get-go. But turns out, Cash is really good at this ranch thing. He’s got strong hands, an intelligent mind, and let’s just say everything really is bigger in Texas. Working alongside him leads to conversations beneath the stars. Throw in some cheek-to-cheek dancing at the local dive bar, and it all feels so right that I start to fall in love with life on the ranch. And maybe with him, too.

But my stay in Hartsville is only temporary. And you know what they say about cowboys: they may break horses, but they also break hearts. If only Cash hadn’t already lassoed mine…

CASH is the first standalone book in the brand new steamy, interconnected Lucky River Ranch Series.

❥ small town

❥ ennemis to lovers

❥ grumpy X sunshine
❥ no third act breakup

I honestly didn't expect to love 'Cash' the way I did, to say that it took me by surprise is an euphemism. the storyline was raw and unflinching in its portrayal of grief, set against the backdrop of sun-scorched Texan landscapes and an agonizing slow-burning romance that left me breathless.

Mollie, expecting to inherit her father's ranch and wealth after his passing, is instead surprised to learn that she must reside at the ranch for a full year to claim her inheritance. as she navigates the daily struggles and lives of the people who loved her father, she finds herself falling deeply in love with the land and the memories it holds. however, her emotional journey is complicated by two challenges: Cash, the rugged and judgmental ranch hand, with the undeniable & unwavering attraction between the two of them; and all the what ifs linked to her long lost relationship with her late-father, which push her further to stay.

i honestly adored the bittersweet interactions between Mollie and Cash, which were marked by intense tension, witty banter, and palpable sexual attraction. the romance unfolded at a perfectly paced slowburn, with tender moments, heartfelt declarations, and even swoon-worthy jealousy-fueled confrontations, and hilarious family dinners. I also found myself deeply moved by the protagonists' poignant monologues about their shared loss of a father figure, as well as their distinct experiences of grief. throughout the story, the author masterfully balanced the sweet and steamy moments, crafting a captivating cowboy romance that left me breathless. the characters' complexities and vulnerabilities made their emotional journeys all the more compelling. overall, I highly recommend this novel to anyone seeking a beautifully written love story that will tug at your heartstrings.

many thanks to Valentine PR for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

”You’re a cowgirl now, honey. And cowgirls can’t be tamed. Wouldn’t dare to try.”

I’m almost always gonna eat up a cowboy romance and here was no exception. I’d happily wear the hat for cash 🤭

The story goes as this; City girl inherits a ranch by her late father who she didn’t have a relationship with and is forced to take ownership of it —not knowing whether she’ll keep it or sell it—while the grumpy cowboy that’s in charge of it was promised it. With this between them, they find themselves at odds with their pre conceived notions about each other which is the driving force to their dislike to love dynamic until their time together and helping her navigate the ranch changes that.

Onto the list of my favorite cowboys goes Cash, who is a family man through and through, and I adored how he showed up and loved those closest to him. This man was the greenest and filthiest flag, caring and so damn thoughtful with others and mollie. I just love a man that can communicate and is in touch with his emotions. He knew what he wanted but struggled to go after it until incentive kicked in and I was glad to see him put himself first with the weight of familial responsibilities. The transition from city girl to cow girl was something haha

Took me a a little, but I soon warmed up to Mollie as I began to understand her in seeing how she struggled with regret when it came to her grief. Other than the direction of her life and trying to please everyone. i liked her determination in general but more when it came to acclimating to the ranch life until she didn’t need to because cash showed her she always had it in her

mollie and cash? The dislike to love, banter, tension, communication and more so the emotional depth here was fleshed out phenomenally. I loved seeing them slowly let go of the pre conceived notions they had by opening up and getting as personal and vulnerable as they did. It warmed my heart whenever they had deep conversations as I enjoy that type of intimacy in baring yourself to someone and feeling seen and heard. both of them on opposite ends of a door besides being in a bathtub were two of my favorite scenes. They were so supportive of one another’s dreams and in a way that was ultimately the sweetest by the end 🥹

other facts; there’s a slight breeding kink, no third act, one horse trope, small hint of insta love maybe? The length of time they got together could make it feel that way but *the build up to their feelings and knowing what they wanted was enough for me*

I honestly had the best time with this. It was the same yet much different from other cowboy romances I’ve read. The found family here made me excited for more and I can’t wait for Wyatts book!! the drama at the end sets up his book quite well 👀 undecided on 4-4.5 stars ✨

some quotes

“Mollie luck, if theres one thing you don’t need, it’s someone telling you what you can’t do. You know what you’re capable of.”

“We all deserve a happy ending. I won’t get mine unless mollies in it.”

“Ask me to give you what you want.” i stare at him. “I can’t--“ “But you can.” He steps closer, melting his hips into mine. “Because you gotta know by now, I can’t deny you anything, Mollie. Not a fucking thing.”

"Because truly, there is nothing sexier than a man who shows up for the people he loves. He's showing up for me."

“I’ve never wanted to burn anything down. But i’d burn down this whole town if it meant never seeing that look in her eyes again.”

pi-Zap-8 '𝐂A𝐒H' Is the first full length romance book in the new 'Lucky River Ranch Series' by author Jessica Peterson. Spoken in dual perspectives (Mollie & Cash).

I purchased this after seeing it pop up a time or two on my newsfeeds and couldn't wait to dive in once I'd gotten out from under my Arcs, and I'm so glad I did, this pulled me in straight away! And you've gotta love a good cowboy book and Cash didn't disappoint.

🤠 Small town
🤠 Hot cowboys
🤠 Enemies to lovers
🤠 Forced proximity
🤠 Opposites attract

Not gonna lie, I didn't like Mollie to begin with, she came across like a money grabbing cold selfish b*tch but delve deeper into her character and she had more depth and hurt feelings towards her father with regrets that they both didn't push harder at reconnecting.

Cash was everything, he'd missed out on so much in life, when his parents passed away he stepped up and took on the father figure role to his younger siblings, putting his own life on hold. Even as he grew older family came first.

This was the perfect no frills cowboy romance book that didn’t need all the unnecessary angst, real to life living on a cattle farm, the scenery, the characters made this such a unique book which has me excited for the next brother to fall in love.

I loved the push and pull these two had from the get go, the slow burn, the enemies to lovers, until they realised they were both placed in a situation out of their control and maybe just maybe it was the perfect set up by her father.

It’s a chill cowboy romance if you don’t mind rushed ‘I love yous,’ cardboard characters, and a plot held together by smut and tropes.

This made my small town heart so happy 💕

Cash is a TRUE cowboy and would do absolutely anything for Mollie. The hate to love banter in the beginning was soooo good. I really feel like this book was a beautiful mix of the simple wild + king of country and I really really enjoyed it!

I loved the character growth Mollie goes through because her mom absolutely drove me insane 😂

If you’re in the mood for a small town with a broody cowboy and a female main character that takes no shit, this is for you!

“Show me how good you can swallow it. Every last drop, Mollie. Don’t you fucking stop.” HE SAID WHATTT 🥵

Save a horse ride a cowboy more like save a horse ride the broody most delicious man name Cash!!! This man and his moustache really was all that, like I just know he not only has BDE but he’s so hot! But to top it off, he’s actually really sweet, caring and goes to bat for the people he loves deeply. This really was just the best time from start to finish and any book where they go from hating each other to lovers, SIGN ME UP!! + he calls her a brat, IM GIGGLING!!

📌 Slow Burn: Full Spice @ 70%

📌 No Cheating/Sharing

📌 OMD: FMC has a friend with benefits that she does have off-page sex with in the very beginning of the book. And she does invite him over, @60%, for a hookup. However, nothing happens between them. This is before MCs are intimate with each other.

“Real-life barns aren’t nearly as picturesque as Yellowstone makes them look.”

Remember how I said I don’t read books with cheap, ugly comic book covers? Yeah, me too. But here we are, even though this is one of the worst. The blurb just sounded too good and very much my thing.

And the book started out very well. City girl Molly inherits a huge cattle ranch and a lot of money from her estranged father, but there’s a stipulation in his last will. Before she can access the money or sell the ranch, she must live there for one year and help run it. To do this, she needs the support of the ranch’s foreman, Cash. (Very fitting name, right?) Not surprisingly, Cash has little to no desire to take the city girl by the hand, especially since her father has promised him the ranch.

Tensions are inevitable. They vent in quarrels and then in banter, but Cash and Molly also quickly begin to respect, like, and trust each other. And of course there’s also sexual tension, a whole lot of it. Claiming that a romantic relationship between them is impossible, they refuse to give in and dance around each other.

This is the good part of the book—it covers Molly’s first two weeks at the ranch. Then the unfulfilled lust becomes too much for Molly, so she invites Palmer, her occasional hookup from Dallas, to the ranch to relieve her pent-up lust for Cash. Um… excuse me, what? Not sure how many women would do that instead of using a vibrator in this situation, but what do I know. Molly does it, and it’s incredibly thoughtless and blatant to get the hookup on the ranch, thinking/hoping no one will take notice when everyone at the ranch knows everything about everyone else.

Needless to say, Cash notices the visitor, especially when she drags Palmer to the bar where the small town meets on Fridays. So we get a bar fight first and a ridiculous bar sex scene later. From there it’s mostly sex and figuring out the future. They are both all in, including marriage and family planning, and it got more and more boring. I mean, I’m glad there’s no stupid third act breakup, and it’s always nice to see people solve their problems by talking reasonably, but it all happened too fast and easy. They went from zero to three hundred.

Despite the so-so story, I really liked the characters. I’ve seen reviews about Molly’s despicable greed for money and ungratefulness (towards her father) and how Cash is nothing but a heartless, mean asshole for treating Molly so badly in the beginning. I don’t agree. I think their behavior is perfectly explainable and believable and not too condemnable.

It’s true, Molly did not have a relationship with her dad, and that’s more on her dad and her mom than on her, because she was a child when it happened. However, she always had the hope that maybe one day she would fix it but now it’s too late. She’s angry, and sad, and remorseful, and the stipulation feels like another rejection. Molly’s grief is painful and real. And once she’s at the ranch, she really gets involved. She changes and she starts to love the life of her father—the ranch, the land, the people. It makes her feel closer to him than ever.

As for Cash, he had a very close relationship with Molly’s dad. Garrett was more of a father to him and his four brothers than he was to his own daughter. He took Cash under his wing and showed him everything he needed to know about running a ranch. When he finds out that Molly will inherit the ranch after all, even though her father promised it to Cash, is a big blow to him. He IS an asshole, but he’s also angry and devastated because there goes his and his brother’s future. Of course, it‘s not fair to blame Molly for her father’s broken promise, but it’s easy to comprehend his resentment toward her. Particularly since she makes it clear that she wants to sell the ranch after her mandatory stay. Cash’s reaction is human, all the more since his interest is not only financial; he has dedicated his life to the ranch and he loves it. He’s not stubborn either, he quickly realizes that Molly is more than he thought, that she’s Garrett’s daughter through and through. Then he is very attentive, thoughtful and devoted.

So again, as so often, I liked the MCs and the first half of the story, but after the first sex it went downhill and got boring. What I liked in particular, though, was the cowboy feeling. Given, I don’t have a clue about real ranch life, but this book feels more like cowboy reality than most cowboy books. And the preview of “Wyatt” made me curious about the sequel, especially because I already loved Wyatt here.

my thoughts: (sorry they’re very scattered)

I had a really hard time with finishing this book.

I felt so bad for Molly in the beginning. She deserves the world 🥹🫶🏻

Yay for a FMC with a normal sex life!!

He really pissed me off in the beginning with how he was acting. He was so immature.
“Maybe that’s what pisses me off the most about Mollie—how she feels like the world owes her something.”
What the hell gave him that idea?!! Men 🙄

”For a second, I just stare at her. Stuck-up City Girl is actually offering me help?”
“The spoiled, self-centered trust-fund brat is paying attention to me in a way no one has in a…while.”

“City Girl is actually doing something nice for someone? I’m confused.”
UGHH she has been nothing but nice to the others since she showed up. You. Are. The. Problem.

He purposely took her on a long hilly tour of the ranch (on horseback) so she would be sore the next day.

He makes her cry and can’t sleep because he feels bad. Do you know what he does? He jacks off because he thinks she hot…what the actual hell??

He was so confusing. He was making fun of her boots, and then he loved them. He hated her, and then he loved her. I could barely keep up.

”Thank you, cowgirl, for sticking with me, even when I didn’t deserve it.”
He’s right he didn’t deserve it

The epilogue was so stupid. It was just a cliffhanger for the next book. I’m not interested because it looks like friends to lovers, but he’s a manwhore.

In the end, I did smile a couple times when things got cute, but not enough to make me actually like the book.

Gonna pass on this. Always looking for a good cowboy romance but this just wasn't doing anything for me for some reason. Nothing specifically wrong aside from there seemed to be a lot of telling readers stuff that is not important. I've been reading a lot of duds lately and just not in the mood to sit through another bland read. Also the heroine Mollie kinda annoyed me. Sobbing over finding out she won't get the money her dead father left her unless she follows the stipulation in his will of living on his ranch for 1 year really didn't endear me to her. Felt very spoiled and entitled. She doesn't need the money by the sounds of her successful boot company, but I didn't get far.

Cash by Jessica Peterson 🐴

Oh my, what a fun start to a new cowboy romance series! Jessica's books are always so much fun and I loved how everything in this is setting up to what I expect to become a favorite series of mine.

This book follows Cash and Mollie. Mollie's father passes away unexpectedly and she inherits the ranch. She hasn't spoken to her father in years though. Meanwhile Cash has been the foreman for the ranch ever since Mollie's father took him and his family in after they lost both of their parents. Cash had expected for the ranch to go to him since Mollie and her father were not close, so it comes as a suprise for them both when the will indicates that Mollie is getting ownership. There is a condition for her to stay on the ranch for an entire year before she receives the inheritance associated with it though. She's a city girl through and through, plus Cash has these opinions of her leading to a rough first few days on the ranch together. Mollie quickly dives into the ranch life hoping to prove herself to everyone and Cash takes notice. The assumptions they both had about each other quickly fade away.

I started out expecting Cash to be a strictly grumpy cowboy and I was ever so pleasently suprised for him to be a big ol' softie underneath it all. He's so caring and protective of everyone he cares for, almost to a fault. Seeing Mollie become one of those people for him was so lovely. The two of them are so perfect, balancing each other out. This leans slightly towards being a slow burn, but once the burn is over it's hot. The spice is so, so good. Yet it's was balanced with some tender moments between them. Particularly towards the end of the book (if you know, you know).

While I expect this series to technically be standalones, I can see the intent and need for reading all of these books in order. Once you get to meet all the brother's in this book you're going to want to read them all anyway. I can't wait for Wyatt's story next!

This was my first book by Jessica Peterson and wow! It will not by my last! I absolutely loved this introduction to Lucky River Ranch! I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this book, and I devoured it in less than a day. This book was a brilliant combination of introduction to characters and world building without taking away from the story and the blossoming (and sizzling) romance between Cash and Mollie.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩: cowboy romance, working cattle ranch setting, enemies to lovers, grumpy x sunshine, opposites attract, forced proximity, found family.

I really loved both of these main characters. Mollie - I want to be her when I grow up! She is driven, strong, independent, sassy and witty. She was thrust out of her comfort zone but she didn't shy away from giving everything a try and earning the respect and admiration of everyone at Lucky River Ranch. I loved how she was able to get to know her father through his land and his cowboys. Her journey was beautiful, and I loved how she was able to heal that part of herself by being at the ranch.

"𝙔𝙤𝙪'𝙧𝙚 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙬𝙜𝙞𝙧𝙡 𝙣𝙤𝙬, 𝙝𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙮. 𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙬𝙜𝙞𝙧𝙡𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙣'𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙙. 𝙒𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙𝙣'𝙩 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙧𝙮."

Cash - I loved him, despite the fact that he was a little judgmental of Mollie at the start, he quickly changed his tune when he realised that Mollie held plenty of the same qualities of the man that he had admired the most. He quickly got on board with her Boss Babe personality. He was such a hard worker, and I really admired Mollie for being able to help him ease his mental load.

"𝘾𝙖𝙨𝙝 𝙞𝙨 𝙨𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙙, 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙝, 𝙛𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙤𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙤𝙬𝙗𝙤𝙮-𝙩𝙮𝙥𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨".

Mollie and Cash were such a wonderful match. Their banter turned flanter was quick and witty, the tension between them was so thick. I was so invested in them, and absolutely appreciated how honestly and openly they communicated with each other. They were such a great team, and the way they were both willing to work so hard to achieve both of their dreams!!

I'm so excited to see where the rest of this series goes and see more of Cash and Mollie in the other brother's books! I also need more of the ranch family - they were so special!

Thank you to Jessica and Valentine PR for the opportunity to read and review early. It's always a pleasure!

This is a hard review to write because I was so excited to get an early copy of this. The premise had me SALIVATING. I especially love a good cowboy romance.

This book had me confused from the beginning.

The female main character had a really crummy relationship with her dad. And after he passes, she's expected to inherit millions, which is really going to help build the company she has started with her friend.

The male main character was told he was going to inherit the ranch, only to inherit all his old mentors family photographs he locked in a lock box

There's a stipulation, mollie must live on the ranch for a year before gaining full access to her inheritance. Each month she'll get a stipend. When her boot company needs a serious influx of cash she decides to move there. The only thing, the foreman, Cash, hates her and wants her gone.

Literally neither of the two mains were likeable. So.... I put the book down at 19% because I actively despised both of them. But I saw people finishing and giving 5 stars so I thought, solider on, it probably gets better. At 43% I thought it's picking up. But I mean that's almost halfway through the book for me to be even remotely interested in it.

Then the about face between the two main is WILD. Apparently they both secretly pining for each other but their interval thoughts before this don't really mention that. Only when Mollie decides to bring her bootycall down from Dallas does Cash finally say, she's mine. And then they rawdog it. They've known each other like 2 weeks. And then they have sex 10000000x. At one point he said "I'm going to come inside you so speak now or forever hold your peace." I'm sorry, what? Then they are in love a month later? What

Tack on her mom fat shaming her, not listening when she says she likes the ranch. And then the mom having a very quick turn around. This just wasn't for me. I was reading just to finish.

I'm super bummed this didn't work out. Add on I didn't like some of the language they used. Calling her dad her daddy, etc. And the weird way he went from giving her beard burn to having a Tom selleck mustache. It was whiplash. And I couldn't picture it because it was all over the place.
Well. It wasn't for me. But I am glad the people who loved it, did.

So I just recently read my first Jessica Peterson book (Southern Seducer) and LOVED it. To say I was ecstatic that I then received this ARC would be an understatement. And let me tell you I was NOT disappointed. I absolutely LOVE Jessica's characters. Her world building. The emotions that her characters are experiencing and how she makes them very relatable. The chemistry that is building and building until you feel like you just can't take it anymore. MAN does Jessica make it worth it. She did all of that once again in this book. I LOVED the intro to this series. I loved our MCs. They had a pretty hard enemies to lovers in the beginning but they gave each other a chance. They realized they were both not in an ideal situation and then things started to shift. I liked the way they walked around their feelings for a long time. I didn't like Mollie's decision for a distraction but I loved Cash's response. I also liked that there wasn't a true third act breakup but still some angst on what was going to happen.

Mollie is angry. She had planned to come down to bumble F Texas to get her dad's money so she could invest it in her business and what was she told but she has to LIVE on the ranch for a year to be able to get it. Being a cowboy does not sound appealing. She is a city girl at heart but maybe it won't be as bad as she thinks. But then she remembers she will have to deal with him- Cash Rivers. Her foreman. The man who gave her a straight up scowl and who is so hot it is unfair. Somehow she finds herself agreeing to these terms and makes her way to the ranch. And then Cash tries to scare her off but he has another thing coming if he thinks she is that soft. She was raised on this ranch. She is a business owner. She has grit. So she sets out to prove him wrong and then things start to shift between them. She realizes they are both grieving her father but in different ways. She is bitter that she was never able to right things with him and that Cash had a relationship with him. She realizes that there is more to Cash than meets the eye which explains him coming to the bar the first night she goes out even though he hasn't been out in forever. Or how he starts to do little things for her that make her think what if they could be more. But she can't with him. He is her foreman. Their relationship can't get muddied. So she will just distract herself with someone else. But wow does that backfire in the best possible way. And now her and Cash are going for it. She finds herself wondering if she could work at the ranch. She finds herself not missing being alone. But then her mom calls with some news and Mollie has to decide if she stays or if she goes.

Cash is in shock. His mentor died unexpectedly and though he verbally told him the ranch was his he gave it to his daughter, miss prissy pants herself. Now Cash doesn't know what to do. All of his plans for his family's ranch are out the window. Mollie is most definitely going to sell the ranch immediately. Unless he can scare her away from it. No way does she last out here when she is used to a life of luxury. But then he realizes he went to far. He is not a bad guy. He just is a caretaker. He has a lot on his shoulders. So when he sees that Mollie isn't quite what he expected he starts to wonder. He hasn't been able to do anything for himself in a long time. There's just too many people depending on him. But she helps him see that he deserves things for himself. He questions muddying things between them but can't fight what his heart is telling him. So when she brings some wanna be cowboy in the picture, Cash is done fighting his feelings. He is staking his claim and his claim is on Mollie. He wants to prove to her how amazing she is. He wants to prove to her that he can make her happy and that the ranch can make her happy. He thought he was doing that but then her mom called and told her she can come home. Will he be enough? Will they be able to make what they have work? Because he is a ranch man through and through but he is also a Mollie man.

GAH I just loved this. I can't emphasize it enough!! Just a very easy, enjoyable read. I laughed, I kind cried, I smiled, I got a little irritated- just a range of emotions that ended with a big old smile on my face. This book was great about letting you know that people are not always what meets the eye. And if you take the time, you might just be surprised what you find. There was the small town vibe. Touch her die vibe. Treat her like a queen vibe. So if you like those I would HIGHLY recommend this one. Oh also of course HOT cowboys!! I can't wait to see who all of the guys pair off with. And that ending with Wyatt had me shaking my head with a smile. I am also wondering who Wheeler will end up with anyone?? Oh and Jessica- I saw that secret shoutout to John Beauregard!!

Thank you to Valentine PR and Jessica for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

ATTENTION EVERYONE!!! There’s a new cowboy on the block and his name is Cash!! Y’all are seriously gonna fall in love with him!

This book is genuinely my FAVOURITE cowboy romance that I’ve read! Which is kinda crazy seeing as this is Jessica’s FIRST (and definitely not last, thank god) cowboy romance!!

Ms. Jessica Peterson seriously outdid herself with this one! I was completely hooked from the beginning!! Cash’s cowboy hat, moustache, and wrangler jeans, wrangled my heart from the get go!

And let’s not forget Mollie! I absolutely ADORED her and she was just the perfect match for Cash, and he was the perfect match for her!! And Let’s just say she “Wore the hat and…”.

But in all seriousness I had such a fun time with this book. So if you’re a fan of hot cowboys, grumpy x sunshine, small town, enemies to lovers, also no third act breakup this book is definitely for you!!

Also, I cannot wait for the rest of the series!! (Especially Wyatt! I just knowwww he’s gonna be good!!)

4.5✨ i ate this up the way i’d like to eat up cash rivers. and honestly i don’t need to say anything more. but i will.

cash was so great. coming off so fucking rude and gruff and antagonistic and conniving, only for him to turn around and be the sweetest, kindest, most caring and giving person on that ranch. the way he gives every piece of himself to his family. the way he can’t help but care for and look after mollie. they way he can’t help but want every piece of her and do what it takes to get her and make her stay. i really loved everything about him and his character. a honest to god cowboy and i was just salivating for it the entire time. and a moment of silence & appreciation for a man with a hairy chest. i went feral.

mollie was a city girl but not a city girl. i think that’s what i loved most about her. she was born to wealth and privilege and opportunities but she did not let it make her a spoiled city girl. she worked harder than ever, and the reason why was devastating, but she built a life for herself. and getting it turned upside down gave her purpose and a life she didn’t even know she was looking for or wanted. but she took it all in stride. she became a fucking cowgirl and she made her daddy proud. i couldn’t be more sure of that. plus i loved how she dished it out to cash in return. they talk so much shit and they’re so antagonistic with each other. even when cash is apologetic and nice she’s just like “I hope you get bitten by a snake.” i died. i loved them.

i love how the started seeing each other for their real selves and not the shitty person they thought the other was. all the soft and heartwarming and vulnerable moments that made them see another side of them. they opened up to each other in ways they never thought they would with anyone else. they way they cared for each others dreams as much as their own and did what it took, and compromised where they could, to make them come true.
and the family… everyone was so wonderful. the way they come together and care for one another was a beautiful thing. i cannot wait to see more of them. especially after that ending! i just so thoroughly enjoyed this. it was so heartwarming which i loved and provoked so much emotion with the heavy topics, but (and maybe i’m toxic) i kinda wish there was a conflict to get my blood pumping LOL a lil drama. but it was still great either way. it gave me the ultimate yellowstone vibes. including yellowstone references. and brooks & dunn. so naturally i lived in my oversized brooks & dunn tshirt while reading this. it was giving.

“I’m not crying. There’s no crying in cowboying.”

“Don’t know what I love more. My morning coffee or my afternoon beer.”
“Depends on who you’re having it with, I think.”
“Then I think I like my coffee more.”

“Honey, I’d marry the shit out of you. Not because it’s the right thing to do, but because I’m in love with you.”

“You’re a cowgirl now, honey. And cowgirls can’t be tamed. Wouldn’t dare to try.”

Jessica has done it again. It just gets better and better every time she writes a book 😩

I’m obsessed with Mollie and she is every bit a woman I want to be one day but Cash just 😮‍💨😮‍💨 Cash.

His mustache is basically its own character.

I loved the town, the ranch, the brothers. I feel like it was the perfect balance between introducing you to new world without giving us too much world building and missing out on the romance. Every scene was perfect & I cannot wait for book 2.

This cowboy romance is so good, you’ll be screaming out yeehaw before it ends 🤭🤠

4.5 (save a horse) stars

“𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒂 𝒄𝒐𝒘𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍 𝒏𝒐𝒘, 𝒉𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒚. 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒄𝒐𝒘𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍𝒔 𝒄𝒂𝒏'𝒕 𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒅.”

After inheriting her estranged father’s cattle ranch upon his passing, Mollie is surprised to learn the stipulation in his will states that she must live on the ranch & actively run it for a whole year in order to claim her inheritance.

Cash is the broody and misunderstood ranch hand that grew up on Lucky Ranch, and was promised it would be his by the ranch’s previous owner, his mentor & father figure, Garrett. Due to the legalities, Cash is less than enthused as he’s forced to work side by side with Mollie, the city girl that knows nothing about running the ranch. Are they able to set aside their animosity long enough to work together, or will the simmering tension burn into something more?

This book was such a joy to read. Mollie is such a strong and independent character that didn’t let the strain of her new circumstances stand in her way of learning about life of the ranch. I loved getting to see Cash slowly let his guard down with Mollie and showing his big heart that cares so deeply.

The chemistry between Cash & Mollie was evident early on and that fueled the misconstrued hate they shared into a sizzling attraction. The banter and riffs between the two were so good that it was easy to get lost in the story. I was turning those pages long into the night! Another thing I really appreciated was the open communication among these characters. It was so refreshing to see in a romance. Plus the mouth on this man?!? I just— 🥵🫠😮‍💨 yeah, you’re going to want to pick this book up immediately! Thank me later💋

I saw this book alllll over my IG feed so I decided to give it a read since it was on KU! And I’m so glad I did, because Cash was a lot of fun. This is an opposites attract (cowboy x city girl), small town, western romance.

Mollie Luck comes to the small town her estranged father lived in for the reading of his will. She is an up-and-coming cowboy boot designer who was raised by her mom in Dallas and always heard the worst things about cowboys and them choosing their ranch over love and family. She plans on staying in town long enough to hear the reading of the will and sell Lucky Ranch once it’s all in her name. She ends up meeting Cash Rivers, his family has owned the ranch next to her family’s property for six generations but he’s been working as the foreman on her father’s ranch for the past decade. They butt heads immediately, he assumes the worst about her being a city girl in the small, country town and doesn’t think the best things about her being absent from her father’s life—a man he saw as a mentor to himself. He also was told the ranch (and money) would be left to him, so it’s a shock when Mollie gets the ranch instead! It does come with a stipulation though, she has to live on the ranch for a full year and actively participate in the day-to-day operations of the cattle ranch to access the funds!

This was a fun one. If you want an opposites attract romance with a western, cowboy setting, this definitely hits! I really liked Cash, he calls her ‘City Girl’ and ‘honey’ and has had a lot of responsibility on his shoulders with the debt his parents left him with, raising his 4 younger brothers, and trying to earn money to keep their own family ranch in their hands. It was nice seeing him happy with Mollie. We also get introduced to side characters too which will be fun to see them get books in the series.

One of the best if not the best cowboy books I've read 🫶🫶 Love Cash 💘

I haven't read many books with cowboys in it so this was a nice change and I absolutely loved this. Cash is a grumpy foreman cowboy on the ranch. Mollie is the city girl who's father has left the ranch to her. Mollie wants to sell to put the money into her cowboy boots business. Cash had thought he would inherit the ranch in the will and use it to better his family’s future as well as the Ranch. Things haven't gone to plan and now Cash and Mollie have to learn to work together for both their sakes.
I loves how Mollie put in the hard work even with running her own business and proved she had what it takes and showed Cash a different side of her.
Cash wanted to fight Mollie ever step of the way but feelings changed and she showed him that everything was going to fall apart if he just took some time for himself. She was the change he needed and he showed her what life on the Ranch with him could be like.

First impressions aren't always right and these too proved that along the way.

I enjoyed this book so much and I can't wait to see what comes for the rest of the Rivers men and Lucky River Ranch.

💗 Grumpy-sunshine
💗 Small town
💗 Cowboy romance
💗 Dislike to lovers

Mollie returns to the ranch where she was born after her father's death. She finds out she's the heir, but in return, she has to live on the ranch for a while. The thing is, Mollie’s a city girl now—she’s not the little girl who used to live on that ranch anymore. And to make matters worse, she has to deal with a grumpy cowboy who doesn’t want her there.

I wasn’t expecting the emotional weight this book would bring. I found it really interesting to see the different perspectives Cash and Mollie had of Garrett. I really liked the scenes between them where they were honest about what Mollie’s father represented in each of their lives.

Their communication was one of the biggest highlights for me—I love a couple that knows how to communicate!

I loved watching Mollie rediscover herself and, at the same time, seeing Cash do the same, including setting new priorities in his life.

And of course, the chemistry between them was written so well. The moment they finally give in? My Kindle practically caught fire.

All the characters won me over, and I can’t wait for the next stories. I’m super excited to read Wyatt and Sally’s story—ever since the first hint at the beginning of the book, I knew I wanted them together.

Thank you so much, Valentine Pr, for sending me this ARC!

“I’m not crying. There’s no crying in cowboying.” “Cute League of Their Own reference,” Cash says, even as his nostrils flare. “But cowboys do cry, Mollie.”

When I say I want to read a cowboy romance, THIS IS WHAT I MEAN! 🤠

If you are looking for a heartwarming, genuine, small town, cowboy romance, this is definitely for you. The chemistry between the two MCs, Mollie and Cash is so authentic and truly incredible. Their flirty banter, possessiveness, and just genuine heart to hearts was my favorite. The tub/through the door scene had me actually melting.

We love a male character that isn’t afraid to show his emotions and that is 100% Cash. He’s vulnerable, honest and really just a top tier book boyfriend and easily slides into my top 3.

Mollie is fierce, adventurous and afraid of no one. When she wants something she will get it no questions asked. She busts her butt for her business back home and the ranch and I admire that about her character.

“You belong here, cowgirl.”

The side characters in this book were amazing! I cannot WAIT for more in the Lucky River Ranch series! 😍

If you’re looking for an enemies to lovers, cowboy romance and love Elsie Silver and Lyla Sage books, this is right up your alley!

A huge shout out to the author, Jessica! This book is my first of hers and I am totally in love with her writing and can’t wait for more of the Rivers boys!

Thank you to Valentine PR and Jessica Peterson for the ARC of this book! 💗

🇺🇸Cash by Jessica Peterson has quickly become my favorite cowboy romance—what an absolute gem! From the very first page, I was hooked. Cash, the main character, is everything you could want in a cowboy hero. He’s sexy, charming, and just downright irresistible. Honestly, I couldn’t get enough of him! 🫠🥵🤠

One of the things I loved most about this book was the enemies-to-lovers dynamic between the two main characters. Watching them go from rivals to something much deeper was so satisfying, and the tension between them was electric. The way their relationship developed felt natural and intense, keeping me glued to the story. And let’s talk about the spice—absolutely amazing! The chemistry between the characters was off the charts, and those steamy moments were everything.

On top of that, the found family trope was perfectly executed, adding an extra layer of warmth and heart to the story. The sense of community and belonging among the characters made the story even more special.

I can’t wait to dive into the next books in the series and see what else Jessica Peterson has in store. If you’re a fan of cowboy romances with heat, heart, and a touch of drama, this one’s a must-read!
