Poor Thumbelina. She wants nothing more than to feel the warm sun on her face and listen to the sweet song of the birds. But in this classic tale by Hans Christian Andersen, even the simplest pleasures can be life's most difficult challenges for a girl no taller than a thumb.
This story is about a woman who wanted a child, so she went and talked to a witch. The witch gave the woman a seed, which the woman planted. The woman kissed the bud, and a tiny, tiny child sat at the center of the flower. This story was a little different, however it was a fun read. I also feel as though it would be a great story for young children.
One of the most beautiful picture books I have ever had the pleasure of reading. The illustrations are very nice and tell the story very well. The writing is clean. I highly recommend for a permanent collection.
I loved this story and the movie when I was little, but as an adult I now see how disconnected the story is. It says that she uses a dish as a lake, but somehow she actually ends up at a lake. I feel like the book should have said she lived by a lake instead. If that had been the case I would have loved this book.
