An interesting mystery. Probably one of the best Amish novellas I've read. It has two very likeable people Eli and Martha; both seasoned in life and I so appreciated reading about them. I most certainly would have loved a full length story on these two.
This turned out to be one of my favorite novellas composed by Vannetta Chapman. It is delightful relating to the characters and their down to earth personalities, true to the Amish ways. All is not perfect, but the mannerisms and idiosyncrasies of human nature are represented honestly and realistically.
Shipshewana, Indiana is one of my favorite places to visit, and I could easily imagine each of the area highlights. Not only a wonderful mystery and story of relationships, this is an educational revelation of the history of the area.
I'll definitely be reading this story again. The detailing wrapped itself around my heart, and brought the past to the present. I highly recommend this entertaining novella! You can easily read
Mischief in the Autumn Air is An Amish Harvest Novella by Vannetta Chapman. I so loved the characters in this novella Eli and Martha. Martha’s Aenti Irene is something else. This novella will have you turning the pages until the very end so you can solve this mystery. This story is packed with faith, love, devotion, heartache and a longing for more. I so loved this most wonderful story. Be sure to order your copy of Mischief in the Autumn Air by Vannetta Chapman today. 5 stars! I received a copy of this book for my honest review.
Loved this mystery. Very cute. A page turner! Fir those who don’t get it... it’s all about the love. What do we hear when we listen to a Sunday sermon? Does it make us wonder and linger on the preachers words? Think about that when you read this.
Martha Beiler didn’t want to leave her home and friends in Sugar Creek to live with her aunt in Shipshewana. Her aunt was cranky and not easy to be around. She was widowed and couldn’t take care of the farm so, reluctantly, she went.
Martha was given a job at the auction house as a bookkeeper for Eli Wittmer, an auctioneer. Some interesting things were going on at the auction house this particular day. Eli was auctioning off some furniture for friends and some guy was bidding way more than the pieces were worth. And, he was doing so after Eli was wrapping up the bids on each piece.
Why in the world was he paying so much for the pieces he wanted? When Eli found the answer to that, he and Martha helped the young man with his search. What were they searching for?
Join the search and find out. Did they find what they were looking for? What about Martha and her cranky aunt? Did a relationship form between Martha and Eli, a confirmed bachelor?
I know you’ll enjoy reading this book as much as I did!
As we come to the last story in this collection, Mischief in the Autumn Air by Vannetta Chapman, we are presented with a little bit of a mystery to solve. It's a staple I have noticed in Vannetta's story. There's always a little mischief and a little mystery, and it works so well with each of her stories. Mischief in Autumn is no different. With twists and turns, bring readers like myself into it, it's like I'm checking out the clues along with Eli and Martha! I do find it interesting to see how clues are gathered in the Amish culture. Don't you? Of course, besides our little mystery exploration, it might just lead to a little exploration of love for our characters.

I loved reading this story about Martha and Eli! No two people could be less ready for romance in their life.....but sometimes God has a better plan! The part that captured my attention was about the maps on the furniture. I found myself wondering what they were all about, where would they lead and what was the treasure at the end? I think a lot of times we are so busy about everyday life that we forget to look around, learn about our history and community and take it for granted. This was a pleasant reminder to look into those things. After all, we just might find a treasure at the end!
I was given a complimentary copy of An Amish Harvest from the publisher in exchange for an honest review which I have written.
Mischief in the Autumn Air is a charming novella by Vannetta Chapman. An Amish auction leads to a mystery map. What kind of treasure would be discovered? Eli and Martha begin a quest and what they find in the end is a whole lot more than they expected. Chapman's characters are realistic and likeable...a bit of a nagging aunt, a curious (maybe even nosy!) and opinionated employee and a boss who has scars of his own. Throughout the delightful story, the author reminds readers about the mystery of God's ways and sometimes the challenges of life are like a map, pointing the way to Him. This was my 1st time reading a book by Vannetta Chapman, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Amish Mystery.
The thread of the book is summed up well from these words by the author.."Eli and Martha both had scars, but the wounds themselves had healed, and what remained was a map of its own sort - one chronicling the ups and downs of life."
A mystery and romance rolled into one. A middle aged widower and widow find love solving this intriguing mystery. Interesting, sweet read. I received a copy of this book for a honest review. Recommend!
