Enjoyed reading this although it felt like it was trying to almost be a spin off of 50 Shades of Grey in parts but still managed to make me emotional. And we do love a strong female main character who (spoilers) has to learn to be vulnerable with those that she lives even if she isn’t ready to admit that.

James was an interesting character with some red flags that get looked over and are used to compare him to the main villain of the book but they also nearly turned me off continuing reading. So there’s that too. I definitely think it needed a bigger highlight of the trigger warnings although I was glad to see some listed in the authors note (just a shame my kindle skipped straight to chapter one without me reading them).

Overall I’d give it 3.5 stars

This is a very spicy and entertaining romance, and I loved the connection James and Cassie had.
After a steamy one night stand, James finds his way back into Cassie's life and they come to a friend's with benefits exclusive arrangement.
Cassie is strong, brave and determined, but has past trauma and doesn't trust easily so it takes time for her walls to come down.
James is possessive, respectful, comforting and sweet, and the perfect match for Cassie, he just needs to convince her.
When Cassie's abusive ex resurfaces it puts her life in danger and she has tough decisions to face.
This is a page turner with character growth, lots of spice and passion, a sweet romance, and supportive friends.
It also draws on insecurities, trauma, escaping abuse, and healing.
A great read that had me hooked.

Whew… this book! This book is equally spicy and sweet. Okay, maybe not equally. There is a LOT of spice in this book.. like a LOT. I wasn’t ready for it, haha. It starts off with the spice almost right away, but then the story grows, and there is so much more to it.

Cassandra is a strong FMC, and James is both strong and sweet. Cassandra has had a difficult life and she is brave, but also closed off. She has to learn how to let others in, and to rely on others. It’s really nice to see her walls break down. Not only just for James, but for her friends also. James is a little possessive, BUT he is also super sweet – you just don’t get to see the sweet side right away. He winds up winning my heart, and Cassandra’s heart.

When Cassandra’s ex-boyfriend comes back, the book becomes unputdownable. I was driving and thinking about the book. I was out with friends and I couldn’t wait to get back to reading the book. That’s how good this book is – and it’s been a while since a book has done that for me.

So romance readers, if you love spice and a great story line, this book is for you!

Steamy and spicy!! Those are two words I would use to describe this book. The tension between James, the mmc and Cassie, the mfc, was high throughout the book and I absolutely loved it! James definitely had some red flags, however you could really see how much he cared for Cassie. I loved the use of the ‘He falls first’ trope. There were a few moments I disagreed with Cassie on, some of which were to do with her friends. However I still really enjoyed her character. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a spicy read.

If you are someone who loves spicy books and especially loves a fast burn with steamy scenes - you should check out this story!

Cassie and James have great chemistry together! I loved Cassie - she is strong and smart and has some great character growth. She has to deal with past trauma and learn to be vulnerable and trust others again.

I love it when the guy falls first! Overall I liked James - he was protective and caring and really helped Cassie open up to the idea of trusting again. This story has some suspense woven into it. It does deal with some tough topics (like DV.) I think it is handled well and the characters felt authentic to me.

Sweet delusion was a great debut novel full of romance, great relationships and lots of spice. It follows the story of James and Cassandra that after a “one night stand” decide to strike a deal to continue as friends with benefits. This is a boy falls first book. The found family was really good. I really liked the bi representation. I liked that Cassie never backed down against James and was clear on her boundaries. I also liked that James respected those boundaries. Her friends were amazing, I honestly cannot wait to see if the author will do Cassies friends stories because i feel like i will like them more than hers. The spice on this book was also really good, Overall this was a good book and i congratulate the author for it.

Things that I didn’t like (if you don’t want to read why i didn’t like it please stop reading ❗️❗️❗️)

I disliked when Cassie got angry with her friend, it was her idea and the way that she treated her after it happened disgusted me. And even though she did it because she was jealous that doesn’t make it any better.

James sometimes made me angry because of how possessive he was, i just think it was a little bit much. Some possessive moments are okay but i just think he did it too often.

I would have loved to see more romantic moments between them that didn’t end up in sex because i liked the few that were in there.

Also when she got jealous of seeing him with other people but if he was jealous of her then he didn’t have the right.

Besides those things it was an enjoyable read and I really do wish the author does the other girls stories because i just think that they will be amazing and will probably like them more than Sweet delusions. Im super exited for Amelias story specially, since i just could relate to her the most and I like the snippet we got of her and who she might end up with.

I've read a lot of books but this one broke me. I've never cried before while i was reading but this one made me cry and not for the obvious reasons. I have so many words to describe the book but i just can't seem to find the right ones.

The main charachter Cassie is amazing, i love her. She is strong, very straight-forward, she isn't afraid to speak her mind and put people in their place if they disrespect her. She's been through so much and is still getting up and trying to live her life the best way she can. Her past shaped her, it made her the woman she is today with high walls in place to protect her from anyone and everyone. She isn't great with opening up to people, talking about her feelings but when her one night stand shows up at her workplace, she can't deny the chemistry they have.

James is... James is absolutely my dream guy. He knows what he wants and that is Cassie, he's willing to fight for her. He respects her completely. The way he respects her boundaries, the way he makes her feel alive again, how he cares for her. He is EVERYTHING. He made me cry, i was reading late at night and i won't spoil what he did for her but it was so beautiful, i just had to stop reading because the tears kept on coming. I want a James for myself, he raised my standards. HE IS THE STANDARD.

I can relate to Cassie so much, not in the sense of what happend to her in her past but the way she struggles to let people in, the way she shuts people out when something bad happens, how she can't express her feelings or has difficulties in figuring out what those feelings mean. This book is absolutely one of my favorite reads EVER! And let me tell you the spicy scenes are mindblowing, out of this world beautiful, sexy, spicy, addicting, just AMAZING!

Bea did an amazing job, because this book is very dark and very real. It shows the bad sides, the demons, the aftermath of it all and her way with writing about the dark but still giving us the light and hope is just amazing.

I interacted with Bea on a Facebook group and was recommended to read this since it was just released and on KU. At first glance, it didn’t really look like a book I would read but I decided I wanted something different and started it one random Sunday. I’m very thankful I did!

I assumed this would be a simple billionaire romance with lots of spicy scenes, but what I wasn’t expecting was being thrown into the dynamics of what it’s like to be a survivor of abuse and the trauma of recovery.

Cassie at first glance looks like the type of FMC that just wants simple and easy fun. Don’t we all though? James at first glance (well after that memorable night at Oasis ;)) seems like a air headed billionaire that doesn’t like being told no. A typical tripe, right?

The chemistry between the two (not just in bed!) of them as they get to know each other and the complexity of the worlds they came from clashing together made for such an interesting and unique relationship.

Cassie wants casual. James is more serious. Cassie’s past and James promises of a future cause for a lot of tension and miscommunication by not communicating which is typical of this type of romance, but somehow Bea Miller killed it with adding her touch to this story to make it HER story.

I don’t want to go too much into the plot because I don’t want to give spoilers, but once the plot kicks in I was shocked and literally covering my mouth as I read. I thought we only had to deal with the one specific instance and by the end of the book I thought everything was just resolved and then suddenly get hit with something that sadly happens more often than we think. I still haven’t picked up another book since finishing this last night!

Overall, this book was so well done and it’s amazing that it’s a debut! I may just have to purchase a physical copy to have too. I’m so excited to see how Miller develops as a writer in the future and I look forward to reading their next works.

“You’re so beautiful, diamonds pale in comparison”

‘Sweet Delusions’ by Bea Miller is an absolute page-turner that had me hooked until 4 am! Starting with a steamy one-night stand, the story takes an unexpected turn when James, after a mind-blowing encounter, refuses to let Cassie slip away. His irresistible offer at her office adds a layer of intrigue, setting the stage for a captivating plot.

Cassie, the main character, shows strength and straightforwardness, seeking simple and carefree fun. Yet, as the narrative unfolds, we learn about the profound impact of her past trauma, which led her to build protective walls, wary of any chance of heartbreak. Cassie’s struggle to open up and express her feelings adds depth to her character, making her relatable and authentic. James on the other hand is a determined, respectful, and caring figure, unyielding in his pursuit of what he wants. His ability to balance passion with respect and support is commendable, setting a standard for the ideal partner.

The beauty of “Sweet Delusions” lies in the genuine development of the characters’ relationships. Cassie’s gradual opening up to James, and his patient, non-rushed approach, showcase a realistic portrayal of emotional intimacy. Even when supporting Cassie from the sidelines, James proves to be a constant pillar of care. What stands out to me the most in this book is its authenticity. The characters feel real, and their struggles and triumphs are relatable. If you are looking for a blend of passion, character development, and a touch of reality that resonates with readers long after the final page then I definitely recommend giving this book a read! I cannot wait for more releases from Bea! 🫶🏻

The book opens with Cassie and her client leaving court. After a stressful day she heads to her favourite club and there she meets James. They hook up and Cassie leaves thinking she'll never see him again. He shows up at her office two weeks later with a offer which she accepts. They become fuck buddies, she starts to catch feelings and freaks out. She gets her friend to have a threesome with her and James buy her feelings show even more once she starts getting mad and jealous of her friend. Meanwhile she starts reveving anonymous gifts at her office. Her Ex makes an appearance and throws her life into shambles. Full of fear she makes mistakes but in the end she figures out what she wants and does her best to right the wrongs. Andrew returns and abducts Cassie, she ends up in the hospital. The book ends with James and Cassie happily together.

I love how the characters relationship develops and how Cassie opens up to James with her trust issues. We get little hints throughout about her abusive ex and her past which she tries to keep a secret. I enjoyed how realistic the book was and I also love how beautifully written, caring and down to earth James is in the book. The storyline is good and the story isn't too long, it does take a while to get to the good part but overall it was an enjoyable book 😊

I absolutely loved this book!! James is an absolute dream😍 and Cassandra is such a bad ass bitch with a haunted past. I loved how the author took time to carefully integrate this cute and sexy story with a very serious topic- domestic abuse and she did it beautifully. I was constantly inspired by Cassandra and her bravery and I thought it was amazing use this story to bring awareness to this issue.

I’m head over heals over Sweet Delusions and you best believe it won’t be too long before I go back for a re-read because who could possibly resist James? Cassandra certainly couldn’t and neither can I!

This was a book, I couldn't put down.

Yes, there was some spice to it, but with a few limits tried, and an interesting FFM scene, but the story is what got me. This deals a lot with the how someone handles Domestic Violence, but after the fact. Cassandra has a lot of walls built up and hard to get through, but James and her friends show that they are there for her, and that's what captured it for me. Plus, she is sassy, and a no-nonsense Lawyer.

It wasn't just her either, but those around her. Each character has so much more about them, that if there are more books, I can't wait to dive in and learn more about each of them.

Sweet Delusions by Bea Miller is a spicy 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 and sweet ❤️ romance novel featuring two headstrong individuals falling in love with each other. It also poignantly handles dark themes such as an abusive ex.

Cassie is a strong, hardworking, ambitious woman and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. She is a criminal defense lawyer saving the spoilt, rich men from going to jail. Although she does not approve of their actions, this job helps her maintain her affluent lifestyle and freedom. Due to her abusive ex, she has sworn off relationships and is only interested in casual hookups.

Enter James Walton, a devilishly handsome and confident man. Their first encounter in the pub, which Cassie frequently goes to with her friends, makes a searing impression on both of them. While Cassie doesn’t expect to see him again, James wants to explore more of this relationship and makes her an offer that she can’t refuse.

This leads to the start of a beautiful and steamy relationship. James proves to be a kind and caring person who takes Cassie by surprise with his thoughtful actions.

“It was clear he cared about me. He’d told me time and time again, but even if he hadn’t, his actions spoke loudly. Padding me up when we went ice skating, cooking for me, always driving me home and walking me to my door, even when it was late and he had work in the morning. He respected my boundaries, massaged my sore feet, and kept me company when I was upset about work.”

While the steamy scenes did raise my heartbeats, it were the scenes where James brought down Cassie’s carefully constructed walls that made Sweet Delusions a love story worth reading for me.

Moreover, Miller has deftly portrayed the pysche of a victim of domestic abuse. The crippling self-doubt and the deep-seated fear in Cassie that she is less of a person because her ex never loved her, used her insecurities against her, and isolated her almost made her walk on the path of self-sabotage and destruction when she had a shot at happiness.

However, don’t worry. This story has a happy ending. Cassie and James’ journey to that happy ending was well worth my time and made my heart swell with unshed tears of happiness. (Too many happy words in a paragraph, lol!)

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. I was reading late into the night, so engrossed I was with this billionare romance which also seamlessly wove in the journey of recovery from past abuse.

Recommended to spicy romance lovers.

Sweet Delusions by Bea Miller

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Love Books Tours and I am leaving this review voluntarily

Blurb

Love is a slippery road to ruin.
And she won’t fall again.

When up-and-coming lawyer Cassandra Leigh dragged a handsome stranger into a storage room at her favorite club, all she wanted was to blow off some steam.

She never expected to see him again.
Especially not in her office, sporting a charming grin and an offer she could not refuse.

As they spend more time together, James proves to be patient, kind, and incredibly skilled in the bedroom. Cassandra is almost tempted to let him in.

But when her abusive ex-boyfriend hunts her down, his sudden reappearance sends her into a tailspin that threatens to destroy her career, her friendships, and her burgeoning relationship.

Will Cassandra let her fears dictate her future, or will she lower her guard and learn to trust again?

My Opinion

This isn't a book I would have usually picked, but I am trying to expand my reading and this was a pleasant surprise. Before I went into this book I had looked at the reviews so I did have some idea as to what I was about to read. Now this book is spicy but there is so much more. Bea Miller has done a very good job of creating a safe space for Cassandra following her abusive past.

I don't want to give away any spoilers so I will keep this short. This was my first book by Bea Miller but I am sure I will be back for more.

If you're looking for your next steamy, sexy read, you'll want to grab your copy of Sweet Delusions now.

We need a consensus on what we mean by "steamy." Sometimes, it's pretty mild, but not always. Let's put those peppers on the books or similar! I prefer clean romance, but I never blame the authors for my mistake. Besides, I like to branch out sometimes. On occassion, it's new book love. Sometimes, I'm I find out I was right.

So, this wasn't my cup of tea, but if you enjoy steamy romance, you'll love it. The MMC seems sweet., but he also comes off as controlling, which I do not like. But that seems to be big among #bookstagrammers lately, so you might?

I did enjoy the FMC. Some of the personal issues she deals with are great to see in an MC. We don't see them from a personal level very often, so I like to see this rep. I also really enjoyed her group of friends. They were a lively group, and I enjoyed the strong female friendships. If you're looking for your next steamy read, I definitely think you should give this one a try.

If you love steamy, open-door romance, this is a book for you. It involves a lot of past trauma, and some modern trauma in the story. So taking care of your mental health is incredibly important.

Stuck With you series book 1.
I did really enjoy this book. I loved the cover and blurb. This one did surprise me. I loved Cassandra and James. James was all alpha but very caring with Cassandra. This is very spicy. I couldn't put it down. Read in one sitting. This was an easy read. I loved the writing style. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down especially when Andrew shows up. I definitely recommend this book. You will not be disappointed.

This book forms part of the Stuck With You series - I can't find any other books in the series yet, so am BC assuming that this one is the first book.
Either way, this definitely reads absolutely fine as a standalone read and I knew the second I saw the cover, that this was going to be the sort of book I'd love!

I was quite surprised by the length of this as often books in this genre vary from quite short novella sizes to the longer full length novels and this one took us on quite an in depth journey which I loved and can't believe how quickly I raced through it.

This book sets out with a bang and we open with Cassandra sharing a spicy encounter with James in a nightclub.
She's out for fun without emotion given her past and the trauma that remains after her previous abusive relationship.
But James has other ideas and sets out to get what he wants.

This was a slightly different read to many in this genre and I absolutely loved that there was no real power dynamic here.
James was the most respectful, caring person and it was so lovely to see how he went about getting what he wanted from Cassandra without overstepping boundaries or being demanding.
This was so refreshing without losing the passion and spice that we love.

Cassandra took time letting James in due to her past abuse and especially when her ex made a reappearance.
I found this backstory added authenticity to her as a character and brought focus to her personality and resistance to trust.

I loved the way the relationship develops and the way each character responded to both last and current events and found a real connection to them and their story. I was really rooting for things to work out for them together.

This was well written and with a nice, easy reading style.
I was hooked from start to finish.

This was my first 5 star read of 2023. I received this as an arc copy and can honestly say I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys spicy romance that has a happy ending. I felt the female main character was very sassy but closed off emotionally in the beginning which works well with the story. The main characters start as a FWB relationship where he falls first. The main characters were fabulously written and the side characters only added more depth to the main characters and helped move the story along at a good pace. Within the first few chapter you come across smut. This and all the smut throughout the book is written brilliantly. Despite this being a romance it had me almost sobbing in the middle as the heartbreak was written so well that you as a reader felt it too, but I only felt this added to the book. I would 100% recommend you read the authors note at the beginning of the book to see the trigger warnings but overall this is a book I would happily read again

Cassandra, a lawyer, ends up meeting James when she just wants to relax & have a little fun. They end up connecting more than she even thought was possible, more than she thought she wanted (it’s clear at first that he’s never met someone who just flat out says what she thinks, so he seems quite taken with her).

Her friend Rina is so nice!

Told only from Cassandra’s point of view, this was very effective in seeing how she is slowly trying to gain some self-confidence, in trying to avoid triggers that make her think of her abusive ex, eventually realizing how she is slowly connecting to James in a very real way.

Then her abusive ex shows up, & she decides the only thing she can do is what she’s done in the past, to just... disappear.... & when James finds out about her plans, when he tells her he loves her, it’s just so... heartbreaking...

This was a fantastic book, more than 5 stars...

It’s not only worth reading, but I’ve now added it to my list of books to reread.

Sweet Delusions by Bea Miller is book one in the Stuck With You Series. If you like books about possessive MMC, a badass FMC, one night stand, he falls first, and is spicy then you will love this book.

Let me first say this book was not what I expected at all and I could not put it down. The patience that James has for Cassie blew me away. He never forced or begged her to do or give more than what she could.
Cassie was so strong, even though she put up walls her heart was so open to victims and helping them. I loved James and Cassie’s relationship. I loved the side characters as well, her BFF’s Daisy, Rina, and Amelia were the friends we all want. Elias was funny and I loved James sister Elizabeth. I don’t want to give too much away but you should really read this book. Thank you to Love Book Tours and Bea Miller for letting me read this book in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions.

This one is very spicy! In a way its insta love— he falls first, but she is very reluctant. James also takes on an alpha male role though she really is the one who pulls the strings. She does not do commitment very well, especially after her last relationship, so how “all in” James is about her scares her. She submits to him physically very easily, it’s a very saucy book, but emotionally it takes her a while. She really fights it. Even though she is pressing for a friends with benefits situation, something that James is not about since he wants all of her, she does start to learn more about him (aside from just how obscenely wealthy he is), and not particularly all by choice. He kind of makes her get to know him lol especially when he brought her to his birthday bash that his (rich) parents threw for him.

Thank you Love Books Tours for the copy of this book!

Well, when I read the first couple of chapters, I knew this would be a goodie, I didn't expect to finish it in 1 sitting, though! This is exactly the kind of book I love sitting and getting lost in.
I love, love, love James, the perfect alpha male with tenderness galore.
Cassandra and her friends have such a lovely relationship, I love their humour, warmth, and the family they have built.
Trigger warnings for domestic violence, explicit violence, kidnapping, and attempted sexual assault, among other things.
This is capital Hot! There is explicit steam and lots of it, but it was fun to read! If you prefer your romances to be closed door - this isn't for you.
It's part of a series, and there's lots of characters that could be next in the series, and I hope to find out who soon!
A new to me author, but it won't be the last time I read her work!

This is Book 1 of the Stuck With You Series, and I absolutely loved it.

The story follows Cassandra and James - one a lawyer and the other a very sexy man.

Cassandra is incredibly strong and a role model to all women. She is smart, clever, and has survived great pain in her past.

While she doesn't give her trust easily, James sneaks up on her!

This combination, even in the early days were incredibly cute, and I was on their team from day one.

But then the ex finds Cassandra...

This book is utterly enthralling and all-consuming. While there is spice, it has a detailed and twisty story that it utterly addictive and you'll find yourself binging all 450 pages until the end and wishing for Book 2 to be released!

Amazing book that I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend to all romance lovers.

such a good book!!! def in my top 5. got me out of a slump after I've dnf'd about 10 billionaire books bc they were too cringey or predictable and couldn't hold my attention.
the writing style was amazing and loved the plot, didn't have much faith in it to be good but I really liked how the author handled the DV theme and while I've never experienced it, I work with both victims and abusers and it was in my opinion realistically portrayed.
I was pleasantly surprised about how sexually open minded the characters were. I'm a huge fan of 🌶️ and honestly it was spot on, it wasn't forced and happened very naturally, absolutely loved every 🌶️ scene.
I related to the FMC and I've actually never cried while reading a book but I guess there's a first time for everything lol. loved it, can't wait for the next one!!!

Ok - I cannot remember the last time I read a book that was this spicy! But in a good way! It reminded me that I actually do appreciate a bit of smut 🤣

From the start this was giving me reverse fifty shades vibes - as in rich guy wants the girl more than she wants him. But I think I I actually ended up enjoying this a lot more as it was more than just about the sex.

Cassie is a great character most of the time. I found her to be a little bit abrasive at times but I really did enjoy learning more about her character as the book went on. James also has been written so brilliantly and I found myself unable to put this down to see how things played out between them.

A really great read. Great if you love a bit of spice. However - it does touch on some themes that people may be triggered by so I’d recommend checking the trigger warnings first 😊

I really enjoyed this book. It was nice to have it start out with some steamy fun, and some that was instigated by the woman. I also liked that it was the woman who want d some fun and nothing more and the man wants a bit something more, as it is so rarely portrayed that way.
It was really fun getting to know the characters, their personalities and backgrounds. It was nice to see inside who they were and see why there was a connection building, once they had their steamy moment and he found her. The added twist of the abusive ex boyfriend appearing was very interesting and added a layer to the story, especially with how it caused her to fully spiral out of control.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story and the blend of darkness and happiness it had to bring. I liked the writing style and the way the author was able to get story to flow so well that it felt very real.

What an absolute brilliant start to the Stuck With You series.

Cassandra is a phenomenal lawyer with the best heart and the most wonderful intentions. In her spare time she advocates for victims of domestic abuse at a shelter.

The she meets James, a perfect specimen of a man. She has never been able to trust anyone especially given her past with her ex. James persists and Cassandra’s walls come crashing down in the most beautiful spicy love story.

Everything is perfect until her ex comes back to haunt her. I cannot tell you how quickly I read this! I needed to know what happened and I was absolutely not disappointed.

Absolute must read this summer. It on Kindle Unlimited too if you have that available!?!

When I picked up this book, I thought it was going to be a typical spicy romance, but it was so much more than that! This book also deals with the delicate topic of abuse, and it is handled beautifully. The FMC is a survivor and has built an amazing new life for herself, but when her abusive ex storms back into her life, she second guesses everything.

I loved the strength of Cassie! Throughout the whole book, she was so authentically herself and didn't apologise for it, which is so refreshing. James has to be the perfect man! He is an alpha male who knows exactly what he wants and goes all in to get it but also respects all of the boundaries that Cassie sets.

I can't wait to see where this series goes and who else gets their happily ever after 🥰

Sweet Delusions follows Cassandra, a talented lawyer as she comes face to face with the stranger she had a one night stand with… only now he’s in her office with an offer too good to turn down. As they start to get closer, Cassandra’s past comes knocking at the door, threatening to de-rail everything

A steamy romance, Sweet Delusions, is a definite page turner! It delivered everything it promised, and even more too. The story moves at a good pace with a perfect mix of emotion, steam, angst and more. The writing is extremely easy to read making this a book you could read in one sitting!

I really enjoy a book that has well thought out and thorough character development and I really think the author hits the sweet spot with this in Sweet Delusions.

Would recommend!
