It’s time.

When the Duke of Lust sends Anna’s great love, Kaidan Rowe, to work against her, Anna must decide how much she’s prepared to risk.

In the most sensual and fast-paced installment yet, Sweet Reckoning brings all the beloved Neph together one last time to fight for their freedom.

I can finally mark this as "read" because as of March 10, 2013, the first draft is done!!! I cried many tears, both happy and sad. It's bittersweet to complete my trilogy, but I'm so excited to share this journey with you! You have no idea how much each and every kind word via email/goodreads/twitter/facebook has pushed me to keep going. Thank you. <3

PS...I freaking love Kaidan. And Kopano. And Blake. And Jay. I want Anna to be besties with the 16/17/18-year-old me.

Sweet Reckoning is kind of book that makes you smile, laugh and swoon; book that makes you feel emotional and sad, anxious and nervous, hopefull and happy. It was phenomenal ending to this series and it secured very special place in my heart and on my bookshelf.

According to the prophecy, Anna is destined to free Nephilims and rid world of demons. But when presented with a choice, will she choose her love Kaiden or saving the world?

Book started calmly, with the hints of danger lurking behind our beloved charcters. But soon enough, there was twist after twist and story surprised me at every turn. I was constantly holding my breath, overwhelmed with worry about what will happen to Anna and Co. And there is no better compliment for author that the fact that I read this book in one sitting, unable to put it down!

In previous books, it was clear that Kaiden is the most swoonworthy as well as most tragic character in this series. In this instalment, his self-loathing (when it comes to his soul) was breaking my heart and simultaneously, his kindness was melting it. He truly is wrothy of "hero" status.

Anna matured a lot through out this series and I liked her more and more with every instalment. Together with Kaiden, they are one of my all time favourites bookish couples and I am sad to say goodbye to them.
"As I acquanted myself with all of him for the first time, I learned the power of being a woman - the wekaness in his eyes brought on by my touch - and the underlying trust and love I saw there."

One more thing. I love how this author is able to write steamy scenes without completely fading to black or being explicit. It is very difficult to do so in YA genre and it shows how talented Wendy Higgins is. I am already excited to see with what she will come next.

Angel books and I normally don't work well together. I mean, we practically loathe each other. I hated it. And it hated me. And I'm okay with that. That is, until this book series arrived.

My love for this series has already been a established fact ever since I have read and DEVOURED the H-O-T-T-N-E-S-S that is Kaidan Rowe first book. It has made up for all the stressful nonsense crap and headaches I got from its predecessors (that I've read) in this genre. Many angel books have tried to win me over. Most of them ended up in my y-u-no-just-burn-to-the-pits-of-hell pile and only a VERY few had managed to squeeze their way into my heart. And from them, I think this is my absolute favorite.

Wendy Higgins introduced a whole new world of angels and demons. And I am extremely sad to see it all end. After the ending I was crying bucket loads of tears! I will truly miss the gang. I'm already having a hard time coping to the conclusion of this series. I don't want it to be over!

But as they say, even the best things come to an end.

The book started as a slow burn, but as the story goes on, it just set fire everywhere! All the twists and turns just started to fly all over the place. Some you can predict, but mostly would just sweep you off your feet.

DO NOT OPEN THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK. DO. NOT.

The book was far from perfect, I was expecting for some things to hold more importance, but didn't. But overall, I was happy on how things concluded. This series touched my heart in more ways than one. The epilogue particularly, made me teary. It was just so heartfelt and I imagined all so vividly, it was one of the sweetest scenes I have ever read.

I'm gonna miss KAIDAN KAIDAN KAIDAN everyone. Especially the ones who didn't survive in the series. Yes, we have some casualties. But that's all the spoiler that I will give.

Kudos to Wendy Higgins for this last installment in this beautiful series!

Note: I blame Sweet Peril for this

"I need you to know this is different for me. I've never felt like this with someone. I don't just love you, Anna. I adore you"
Kaiden is like my hottest book boyfriend. I've never seen him, but GAWD-DAMN I melt when I hear him say things like that to Anna.

I cant believe that after all this time The Sweet Trilogy series is over.

I was a fan before Wendy Higgins got published and I have to say I loved the series from the start. There was lots of waiting around between Sweet Evil (book 1) and Sweet Peril (book 2) but it was worth all the seconds I waited.

The way the series ended is just perfect. There would be no other way to end it and the epilogue...

"I don't just love you, Anna. I adore you."

I've never been so satisfied, so really, really satisfied with a series' ending. This is absolutely one of the best series-enders ever! I love Sweet Reckoning and I love the whole series itself. Wendy Higgins, you are such an amazing writer and I mean it with all my heart!

Sweet Reckoning is nothing but perfection. I love everything that happened in this book. It was clearly wrapped up as best as I could have hoped for.

First, there was a great character improvement with Kaidan and Anna. They both grew more mature and intelligent. And the way they handled challenging things was really amazing. The plot delivery was also awesome. Compared to the first two books, Sweet Reckoning was fast-paced and a lot more remarkable. And oh, the romance. There were lots of surprises that really stunned me when it came to Kaidan and Anna's relationship. Can I just say that they're now officially my new favorite OTP? Hell yeah!

I also love the way the Nephilim characters stick to each other all throughout the book. Blake, Ginger, Marna, Kope, Zania-- they are all amazing! And even Jay.

There were sad things that happened in this book, but it was paid off with its SWEET and happy ending. I'm actually very emotional right after reading this book. *sobs* True to its word, it's really a SWEET and perfect tale. Never will I forget this series because I totally embrace it and it's now one of my favorite trilogies!

I HIGHLY recommend this to everyone! I swear. You'll miss half of your reading life if you won't read this. (Excuse me for being exaggerated. I just LOVE this book and this series!) (-:

Title: Sweet Reckoning
Series: Sweet Trilogy #3
Author: Wendy Higgins
Release Date: April 29th, 2014
Rating: 5 stars
Cliffhanger:. No
HEA:

Wendy Higgins completely astounded me. In this incredible end of Sweet Trilogy she’s used every trick I could only imagine to make it perfect. From the first chapter that slowly drew me into the world of angels and demons, I had fallen in love with earlier, to the fascinating, heartbreaking romance and strong friendships, Sweet Reckoning was the bomb!

Kai and Anna, both matured and changed for the better. It was amazing to see them grow up so much. My heart broke repeatedly for Kaiden who’s suffered through all of the three books.

This time though, he was not only demonically sexy but angelically good and strong person as well. That made me love him even more. The romance was that good that I can’t remember how many times I swooned during reading Sweet Reckoning.

I don’t want to spoil you anything, so I won’t be giving away much about the plot is. The best is to read it without any additional knowledge – the only thing you should know is that the whole book is very intense and unpredictable. I enjoyed every second of it, and I am proud to write that the whole series was brilliant and that I am very sad to see it has ended.

Overall, this was a stellar conclusion to the series that captivated me few years ago. From the start to finish, Anna and Kai's story didn't let go even for a single second. This is one of those books that every paranormal YA junkie should read.

It’s action packed, full of good and bad and so sexy at times without being explicit novel ,that literally had the strength to swept me of my feet. Sweet Reckoning is exactly what every hopeless romantic needs and I can recommend it to all of you, knowing you will end up loving this story and characters just as much as me.

Sweet Reckoning was the personification of it's characters, both deliciously good and chaotically evil. By evil I mean it had it's flaws. Unlike sweet Anna the book wasn't perfect, but just like Kaidan it was entertaining and steamy.

Anna Paquin is in trouble. She is trying to gather up this army of Nephilim to her side before the final showdown with the Dukes. Only nobody knows when the "prophecy" is to be completed, nor where, ot what exactly they have to do to make it work... Anyways let's skip those details until the very last of the book shall we? Let's just focus now on how Kaidan and Anna are in love and how the Dukes are now on Anna's ass because they think she might just be the good pure girl the Prophecy professed would bring about their doom.

The Sweet Trilogy did not turn out to be a game changer. True it had some quite great, imaginative, new ideas on the whole battle of good versus evil when it started off in Sweet Evil but as it has progressed I feel like it kept leaning more towards fluff entertainment than actually wanting to leave it's mark behind on the genre. It has some great steamy scenes, and Kaidan is still to DIE for, but I was expecting a bit more. I was expecting epic, and that is just not what I got. I guess I was a bit disappointed that it didn't go bigger and instead relied on some old-timie remedies to solve it's characters final problems that were unimaginative.

Let me tell you, these Dukes are not quick on the ball. In fact, they were kind of crappy bad guys. While entertaining and quite hot to the touch the book did have it's faults. First off the cheese went deep like you wouldn't believe it. It bothered me, a lot. It was just so...

description

Let's just say I rolled my eyes a lot while reading this novel.

Another thing is the way that I didn't like how the issue of Anna having sex in the novel was portrayed.

Now I am not saying the book was not worth it, it was. It was a fitting ending to the series if not the most inspired. Again, I was expecting more due to Sweet Evil being such a different book with a strong start but I still enjoyed the whole series! I still found it entertaining and Kaidan is certainly not to be missed by all means. The whole series is fun and a breeze to get through. Even the side characters leave a mark.

I thought it a sweet touch at the end there that all the Nephlim still had to bear with the sins their father's passed down to them. Ultimately it was up to them if they manage to overcome their very basic needs in order to make it through the pearly white gates of Heaven, just like with any other human being. I enjoyed the epilogue as well, immensely. I liked that it was years after the final showdown and I liked this new side of Kaidan we got to see just before the series ended. It was definitely sweet.

Would I read the series again? Yes. The characters are great and I will miss them dearly. But maybe I wouldn't put my expectations so high next time, I would just read it for what it is and just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Sweet Reckoning extra sweet teaser, from Wendy Higgin's blog:

I texted Kaidan, who was listed in my contacts under “James,” for James Bond. He’d chosen it. He had me listed as “Hot Chick From Gig.”

Video chat in 30.

His immediate response made me shake my head.

Clothing optional?

It was nice to know he could keep a sense of humor in the face of calamity. Or maybe he wasn’t joking...

“Are you two flirting?” Patti asked, her eyes darting to me from the road.

I blushed and deleted his message.

Overall, the story in this series is very entertaining, although, despite the fact that these books are for teenagers, I do think they are too vanilla.

Having said that, I have to admit that I have a big issue with this series:

The world that is depicted here is very black and white, it is based in very basic concepts that generalize the way things are.

After having read 3 instances of this series, I have come to have a big problem with all the christianity based ideas that form this “fantasy” world. I found these ideas really offensive and it bothers me that they can reach so many young influential minds through these books.

An example of this would be that Anna needs to preserve her virginity until marriage in order to keep her heart pure Well, this is truly morally repugnant, the idea that having sex outside marriage would make your heart impure is plane wrong.

Another example is that every time the books talk about lust, it is done from a heterocentrism perspective. Since we are in the 21st century, the supposition that heteronormativity would be the normalcy is backwards and discriminatory and personally I can’t abide by it, no matter wether the books are fantasy or not.

The ideas that the series is funded on have put me off this series, and although I do plan on reading the last installment, I would not recommend this series to anyone.

3.5 stars actually.

I was expecting a lot more. I agree with many of the reviewers regarding the climax and of course that Kaidan wasn't the Kaidan we see in the first two books in the trilogy anymore. I agree he's in love with Anna and that he's being good and true to her. But he was always in love with her (since when she gave all her money away in book one in Hollywood) and he'd stopped working in the second book as well but he hadn't changed.

I didn't believe in the whole "purity" thing because the purity or impurity of an action is based wholly and truly on the emotion behind it. And what's more pure than love?

However, Anna's bravery and everyone else's total belief in her and in the good was truly endearing. They were ready to sacrifice themselves for a good cause.

I'm definitely going to miss all the characters. I'm very sad to watch them go, maybe more so because they hadn't left with a bang.

Nose Graze — Book reviews & blogging tips

2.5 Stars

Sweet Reckoning kind of ended how I feared it would: not that intense. From book one, I expected an epic WAR between heaven and hell. Imagine a war like the one in His Dark Materials. Huge, intense, all-encompassing. Sweet Reckoning didn't have a war. If anything, it had one small battle at the end. The lack of a larger, overall war made the whole conflict feel a bit trivial.

I wanted the whole book to be one epic war, but really it was just a lot of waiting, hiding, and romancing.

I hope this won't be too sensitive of a subject to bring up, but I kind of took issue with the "no sex before marriage" part of the book. Basically the idea is that Anna has to be "pure" in order to fulfill the prophecy. If she has sex with Kaidan, a man she loves, before marriage, she will become "impure" and not be able to fulfill the prophecy. But if she has a halfass, non-legal wedding with him first and then has sex with him, it's totally fine. I just think that whole idea is ridiculous. Failing to say a few words before having sex doesn't make you any less pure.

Throughout most of Sweet Reckoning , I sat there trying to figure out if I was enjoying it a bit, or if I thought it was silly. There was a lot of fussing over romance and pregnancies that had me rolling my eyes at times. But I must admit that some parts of the book were enjoyable. Sometimes Kaidan annoyed me, how he was CONSTANTLY thinking about sex. It was hot at first, but honestly it got so old. But other times, I really adored him and Anna together.

Ultimately I guess I was stuck somewhere between disappointment and mild amusement. I swung back and forth too many times for me to figure out a good "average", which is why it's so hard for me to actually rate this book. I don't think it was bad, it just never got as huge, epic, or monumental as I thought it would be. Plus I hoped there would be more involvement from heaven/angels, but they were absent the entire time. I feel like that entire part of the plot just never developed. It was all about the demons, but I expected the angels to actually get involved at some point, or at least show their faces, and that never happened .

I just hoped for something a lot more "epic" and it never got there. The romance between Kaidan and Anna remained mostly sweet and fun to read, but I wanted a lot more from the plot/conflict than we ever got.

3.5/5

This book took me a while to read because it seemed to be a little boring or less action then the first two books. Overall, I really liked it and it was a great trilogy.

The ending of the book was really good though I felt that it was rushed. There was a lot of action in the ending in a short time which made it kind of rushed but it was good nonetheless. I loved the characters, especially Kaiden. He is such a sweet guy and so good for Anna (and vice versa). I loved the minor characters .

I think that there should be a spin-off series, which I would read, if it exists. Who knows, it might and I just don't know it.

Wow.

Ms. Wendy Higgins just perfectly wrapped up this series. From the start of this series to its conclusion, everything is consistent, balanced and that ending is damn epic! I JUST LOVE IT! Sweet Reckoning is just a wonderful, satisfying conclusion. It wasn't rushed and every important detail in the story is perfectly executed. Everything just exceeded beyond my expectation. This is really how you end a series. A total hands down.

The transition of the story is indeed fast-paced and I can't stop reading. I fell in love with this series so much and it's been a long time since I'm hooked in a Paranormal series. I miss that kind of feeling. I love the character developments of Kaidan and Anna because they've become more matured compared to the previous books. Despite of all the conflicts they've been through, they were able to managed it by focusing on the problem and communicating sensibly. I really admire these two. With regards to their chemistry, OMG. AMAZING. I can't help this giddy feeling peeps!

When Kaidan said:

"I don't just love you, Anna. I adore you."

OMFG. HOLY SMOKES.
I. JUST. DIED.
I SIGH FOR KAI.

Kudos also to the side characters, because they had a great participation in this book. I love how Ms. Higgins didn't left them out. My favorite side character is Ginger, because she might got the angst, but she's sweet too. (total badass chick.) Also, Patti. Such a sweet, loving character. I love her.

Lastly, The Epilogue just made tear up a little.

It's a MUST READ series. I am definitely recommending this to everyone.
My guilty pleasure is satisfied and patiently waiting for Sweet Temptation.
Kaidan Rowe and Anna Whitt forever!!!

*Spoilers for previous books*

Oh, this series was so much fun.  I am always on the lookout for a paranormal story that makes me want to smile with happiness while my heart is beating fast from the romance and perilous situations.  And The Sweet Series did just that!  While I did have a personal issue with an event that happened, I'm sure it won't bother a lot people the way it did me.  But any who.....yes!  This series was fabulous, and since there is so much I can't talk about, here's my favorite things about Sweet Reckoning:
He closed his eyes. “I’d do anything for you.”
“Just love me,” I whispered.
An epic love story - A bad boy with a tortured past, and a truly good girl whose past is filled with love.  The two of them were polar opposites, yet when they were together it was an explosion of emotions.  Since Anna and Kaidan have finally announced their love for one another, I just knew that this book was going to be fabulous!  And I was so right!  I swooned over their interaction and I found myself grinning like a fool while fanning my face towards Kaidan.  My gosh, that boy can heat things up in the blink of an eye.  I got every single tiny moment I wanted with them, and it left me a very happy girl!
The odds were stacked against us. A year and a half ago I had held my hands up to the heavens and told them to deal me in, and they had. Now the prophecy was about to happen—this war on earth between the demons and their children—with me leading the way. My stomach was in knots.
True friends - I was thrilled that the twins, Blake, Kope and V played important roles in this book, so I got to spend a lot of time with them!  Each of them are true friends to either Kaidan, Annna, or even the both of them.  They could always be counted on in times of need, and they always had each others backs.  I loved that strong friendships played an important part in this series.  It makes me miss these characters almost as much as Kaidan and Anna!
Kaidan or the world? I’d been spared making that choice today, but it seemed inevitable that I’d have to eventually. Could I do the right thing if it meant Kaidan would lose his life? Tears threatened to fall again, but I fought them back, putting on a strong face and closing my eyes.
Please, God. Don’t make me choose.
Uncertainty and the unknown -  The way the story proceeded, there were twists that unfolded that I never even saw coming.  There were so many different parts at play, that it made certain elements of this book hard to guess, and I loved that!  I loved feeling clueless at times right along with Anna!  It made for a very eventful ride!
“Everything will be okay,” I said quietly. “The sooner we get rid of them, the better.”
His jaw worked from side to side. I wanted him to talk to me.
“What are you afraid of, Kai?”
“I’m only afraid of one thing.” His blue eyes hit mine. “Losing you.”
A wrapped up ending - If you know me, I deal much better with a Happily Ever After than a Happily For Now ending.  Not only was this ending wrapped up, but there was even an epilogue!  I wanted to jump up and down, I was so over the moon ecstatic that this book contained such a solid ending!
“It’s time,” I whispered.
While I'd love to stop my review here, I can't.  Because there was a scene in Sweet Reckoning that was too religious for me.  I was perfectly fine that angels, demons and God existed in this series.  That wasn't the problem.  What was the problem was in regards to having ones faith tested.  That situation left me feeling off, and I was not okay with how it was handled.  YET, I still love this series.  I loved the characters, the story-line and that ending.  So I will definitely be reading more books by Wendy Higgins!

Series review (slight spoilers):

Oh boy.

Our story.
Girl meets boy. Girl finds out she's the daughter of a Duke (a fallen angel that embodies a certain sin) and an angel. Since she's 'pure of heart,' she's to lead the other Nephilim into battle against their fathers, who force them to commit their sins. They can be free and have a chance at redemption. But how will she ever keep her virginity?!

Our heroine.
Naive.
Farts rainbows.
Cries an awful lot.
Loves everyone immediately. Unless they're bad.
Feeds the homeless, makes sure everyone turns their homework in on time, thinks things like: "As its gossamer form neared, a song blossomed in my mind - a sound more enchanting than children laughing and choirs harmonizing. My heart grew wings."
Virgin.

Our love interest.
Son of the Duke of Lust.
Boywhore. In this case, that's no exaggeration. His one purpose in life is to seduce every single girl.
Until Anna.
Intense, moody stares.
Kaiden is pronounced like Thai, FYI.
Will push away heroine until last possible second, so triangle-y things can occur.
He eventually gets tested, no worries. False alarm. It was for sterility.

Relationships
Anna loves Kaiden, who we all know loves her but he won't let them be together because his father would bring down the house. Anna meets Kope, who is another Neph and who speaks with absolutely no contractions. He falls for her immediately. But then another girl enters the picture, and when it's established Anna truly has only one inside her heart, Kope cuddles with new girl and love is reborn.

Jay, her human friend, is attracted to Marna, a Neph, but doesn't believe he has a shot with such utter gorgeousness so he goes out with his friend Veronica for, like, two years. But he always holds a torch for Marna, and they get together the day it's announced that Veronica is moving to Spain.

Ginger, Marna's sister, loves Blake, but he's to marry a girl who will be his trophy wife.

Anna's dad loved her mom (an angel), like, epically, but then some weird shit goes on between him and Anna's foster mother. What even happened there???

I guess you can catch love quicker than the flu.

Redemption.
Mrs. Cleaver and gang are to rise up against the Dukes, as told in a prophecy, so they can live their lives freely and have a chance at heaven. She'll have to maintain her purity in order to wield the Sword of Righteousness, which means absolutely no sex. (It was decided at some point that pure heart = virgin.) Super hard, with McHottie pumping those pheromones. Does anyone have a chastity belt they can lend a girl??? But this is what it will take to save everyone. And everyone could mean everyone. Because apparently these evil Dukes can get saved as well, even though they are murderers, sex trafficking ring leaders, and generally disgusting assholes. Lovely.

My thoughts, in a nutshell (if you couldn't already tell).
I really, really expected to like this series more. But it's not at all how I imagined it would be. Love triangle issues aside, I have so many problems with the mixed messages and the grating narration of the heroine. The last book was better, if only because I finally felt some emotion, but overall the Sweet Trilogy is a major disappointment. If there was such a thing as permanent eye roll damage, I'd have it.

I'm not happy with myself for waiting as long as I did to read this one. It's the best series ender I've ever read.

Let me start with the cover. Not just this cover but all three covers. It finally dawned on me what the covers were up to in this book. The color. Each book's cover color is the emotion for the book. I loved that because when the cover makes sense for the book, I'm a happy reader.

Kai. I adore Kaidan Rowe. As the son of the Duke of Lust, he's not supposed to love any girl. But he fell for Anna in book one. He protected her and he risked the wrath of his father for her. Plus he's one sexy boy. British accent, dark hair and blue eyes - this boy is the total package. Skilled with knifes and determined to be on Anna's side. I love him.

Anna makes me happy. She's true to who she is and fights the battle given to her. And she loves Kai. So much. I adore seeing them together. And they do get to spend some time together in this book. So nice.

The story is brilliant. Truly. Painful and hard, they battle together to fight for the good of humans, the rest of the nephilum, and their hope of being together. I wasn't sure what to expect with the ending but not what I got. I enjoyed all the twists and turns. I loved how the secondary characters played such important roles. I cried for some loss. I rejoiced at some victories. And everything came right down to the end. Mostly, I enjoyed the ride.

If you haven't read this series yet or finished it, you need to. I planned to pick up the books I had missed along the line this year and this was the first one. Couldn't have started with a better one and others aren't going to be able to keep up.

Originally 4.5 stars, epilogue bumped it up to a perfect 5 stars.

I’ll keep this review short and sweet. (Ha! Get it? I know, I’m a nerd). Anyways, Sweet Reckoning lived up to all of my expectations and more. In this final installment, Anna and Kaidan, along with their allies, work towards fulfilling the prophecy from Heaven that dictates demons on earth will be sent back to Hell and those Nephilim who are on the side of good will have a second chance at Heaven. Many dangers and unexpected road bumps mar their path, but Anna never fails to believe in good, and to believe in Kaidan’s and her love.

Ms. Higgins has developed into a marvelous author, this final book in the series was her best one yet! I loved following Anna and her journey through all three books, and how her experiences and relationships from her life help to guide her and her decisions. And the scenes between Kaidan and Anna? Hot, steamy, tender, loving, anguished and beautiful.

This book brought tears to my eyes more than once (but never a full cry). The epilogue was EVERYTHING! My favorite part of the book (and those of you who’ve read it will understand). So, a full 5 star sweet rating. Bravo Ms. Higgins, you are on my autobuy list for anything you produce in the future. I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes YA, romance, and paranormal elements.

UPDATE: just changing my review to one star because this series makes me mad a year and a bit later.

NO REVIEW - but this was absolutely terrible, definitely the worst in the series. I curse past Amber and her "once you start a series you must finish" mentality. So much religious belief shoved into these books that it made me a bit confused as a non believer. If you're a Christian, that's great. I just don't particularly want to read about a character who'll destroy the world if she has sex before marriage. Is that a spoiler? I don't remember that much nor care.

Just flat-out amazing. The perfect ending!
This is by far my favorite book in the series. There is so much action and the relationship between Kaidan and Anna is fantastic!!!
I love the development of all the side characters and their relationships! I felt such an attachment to every character.
I also love the world and the angel/demon elements. They are so cool and unique!!
I cried multiple times throughout this book and the ending just had me in full-on tears!! This story and the characters are so close to my heart <3
I highly recommend this series :)

Actual Rating 3.5

Before I start, it should be said that my rating doesn’t really reflect whether or not this was a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy and I can whole heartedly say it was.

This trilogy, I should advice, is not for everyone. Fans of JLA will love it, but if tons of cheese aren't something you’re fond of, you might want to skip it. It’s weird, considering I myself have little tolerance for cheesy stuff, but Wendy Higgins makes it work. These books are the perfect guilty pleasure and are terrific brain candy. And while I cannot say I loved them, I can most definitely say I thoroughly enjoyed them.

I think one of the strong points of this series is the world building. The author’s take on nephilim/angels/demons is original in many ways and brings something new to this sub-genre.

The characters themselves are an interesting bunch as well. There are some I am not overly fond of and there are others I adore, but they all have something to add to the story and I love that they had depth to them.

Anna has come such long ways since book one, and unlike the last book, I didn't have a problem with her in this one. One of the major reasons is that once she finally wraps around her head some things, she becomes determined and strong. Of course, when I say strong, you shouldn't imagine "badass", because in all honesty, Anna is anything but that, but she is something. Something that allows her to become the center of what will happen and allows her to take responsibility and call some of the shots.

I am not going to say much about Kai, but you should know that Kai will never let you down with his swoon-worthiness. He continues to be supportive, protective, and, in spite all his kick-assery, sweet.

Anna and Kai never fail to put a smile on my face and I was so glad that after all their struggles, they could finally have a relationship. The problem with this was that their relationship really became cheesy, to the point where I couldn’t help but roll my eyes half the time.

One of my biggest problems with this book is also the fact that everyone's in a relationship with everybody. I am the kind of reader who hates that sort of thing. It just really bothers me. I don’t like it when all the characters in a book are happy-happy and in a relationship. I feel like that takes away the struggle and changes the focus some.

And while that is true for this book, I wasn’t disappointed in the end. There were definitely times where I was wondering why things seemed so easy, but I felt like the author did the trilogy justice in the end because the final showdown was exciting. I was on the edge of my seat; I was eagerly awaiting to see how things would turn out and I did have a lot of fun.

All these characters that we’ve come to love over the past couple books have come so far and I felt like the author did justice to them. I was happy with how things ended and for the first time in a while, I enjoyed the epilogue.

I can close this book with a smile and be happy for all the characters and all the endings they got, and while there are things I would most definitely change, I am satisfied.

I’d recommend this trilogy to anyone who loves books about nephilim and doesn’t mind cheese so long as they are having fun.

Life was often so cruel, so ugly. And then, in the midst of all the madness, a precious gift would be placed in your lap, because life could also be so sweet.

It’s time for Anna to fulfill the prophecy.

The third and final book of the Sweet evil series – Sweet Reckoning by Wendy Higgins continued on how Anna and her Nephilim friends will expose the prophecy together with the new and still unknown allies, she was ready to face the Dukes and give what they really deserve – to accept the redemption or stay in hell.

But it will not be easy for them to accomplish it; there were still hindrances in their way that they didn’t know if they can win it or not.

My reaction after reading this:

Oh my gosh! The story leaves me breathless and the ending was pure sweetness.

The Sweet Reckoning, the final conclusion of the book, tells what will happen for the Nephilims and for the fallen angels. The story really explodes my heart at the intense scenes and sexiness of Anna and Kaidan. From start to finish, I can’t really tear off my eyes from the book, which I imagined if I blink once there were tendency that it will gone. But, it’s just my paranoid imagination.

Their characters here really improved; they became stronger, braver and… addictive. Kaidan and Anna Whitt’s chemistry was undeniably impressive.

I honestly cried at the scene of Anna and Patti, it really broke my heart. It’s just..

I will not tell you why, discover it for yourself, baby. *Smirks at the corner.

I didn’t want to finish it, but good stories must really come to end. Agree? But, you can really re-read it. LOL.

I will forever cherish this moment that I become a forever admirer of this book.

Sigh for Kai.
Anna Whitt for the win.

Thank you for this lovely story Ms. Wendy Higgins. Thank you.

Oh this book fell so far so fast...I really don't understand how this series has such high reviews. I wanted to stop reading so many times, but I just can't not finish a book so I literally forced myself to read it.

This story is literally about how one girls "pureness" will rid the world of demons. And by pure, of course the author means a virgin. And just in case you forget that at any point in time, don't worry, it was mentioned on almost every page. Basically the fate of the world rests on her virginity.

I'm sure you can imagine my face right now.

Also are we really supposed to believe that this group of children can take down the Dukes of Hell? I mean, I know it's fiction, but come on.

Warning: there will be spoilers after this point because I don't feel I can actually get across my feelings without saying what's happened.

This series seemed to follow the Twilight theme of innocence. The books focus heavily on the wanting sex and how that's unpure. In order to get around this, the author has the main characters get married (she's 17) because then it's right in God's eyes - and then they're free to have all the sex they want (because OMG that's all they can think about after). Then we have another couple, neither of them are the "pure" chosen one but are stained with demons, so of course when they have sex the girl gets pregnant - at risk to her life. Can you hear the life morale's happening?

Another Twilight-esqe theme: sacrifice, or lack of. There is supposed to be a battle, like a huge battle between a group of teenagers (ok some are young 20-somethings) and the Dukes (full bodied demons) and yet, there's no real loss? Oh we got fooled into thinking there might be, but no, everyone has to come out perfect and happy. Cause that's believable in a war.

And for God's sake, STOP ALL THE F**KING TEARS. The amount of crying in this series is just ridiculous.

Honestly, there's a lot more wrong with it but it's just making me angry thinking about it.
