Twelve humans are left stranded on a wintry alien planet. I’m one of them. Yay, me.

In order to survive, we have to take on a symbiont that wants to rewire our bodies to live in this brutal place. I like to call it a cootie. And my cootie’s a jerk, because it also thinks I’m the mate to the biggest, surliest alien of the group.

BARBARIAN ALIEN is a sequel to ICE PLANET BARBARIANS. You do not have to read both in order to understand the plot, but the story will be richer if you do!

5 Raahosh & Liz Stars

*******May have mild spoilers*********

OMG book 2 was better than the 1st, and I didn't think that was possible. I loved Liz and Raahosh so damn much. This book picked up a bit before book one ended. Liz and all the other human women were sick, and waiting around to get their khui. Some of the big blue aliens have resonated, but they were hiding who it was. Raahosh was helping Liz, but being pushing and rude about it. Then after Liz got her Khui Raahosh kidnapped her from the tribe because he resonated to her and she was his. That was when the fun started.

Raahosh was so scarred inside and out. His past with his father and mother colored his views and choices. On top of that he felt ugly and unwanted because of his scars. Raahosh was stubborn, surly, and quiet. He was also strong, loyal and brave. Liz was outspoken and sassy. She was very outdoorsy and loved to bow hunt. I loved how Liz had no problem telling people what she thought. Liz and Raahosh were an amazing couple. The relationship build up was great. The sexual tension was off the charts. I loved them. They are my favorite couple of the series(so far).

Some of my favorite moments in this book happen after Raahosh and Liz get back to the tribe. I loved how Liz stirred shit everywhere she went until Vektal reversed his decision that was keeping her from her man. Not only did I love Liz and Raahosh, but I fell in love with Aehako. He was so fun and easy going. When Liz told Aehako about the "human courting gift" that he should make for Kira I lost it. So fucking good. I loved this book and can't wait for the next one!!!!

Re-read 9/9/21: This is probably my least favorite in the series because I really do not vibe on how controlling Raahosh is. I'm definitely still an alien smut ass bitch, but I'm looking forward to moving onto the installments in the series that I enjoyed more than these first two. Onward and upward, baby!

Original read 9/2/19: Still an alien smut ass bitch, don't mind me living my best life and marathoning this entire series ✌🏼

Boy, do I love me some alien skank.

Not gonna lie, I didn't like Liz in the first book...and I didn't like her any more in this one; however, I DID love Raashon (or whatever his name was...on my phone and too lazy to double check).

I would say more, but like I said - phone + lazy - and I want to move right into number 3...

Trying not to plow through my horn-y, free alien series too quickly here...

But sadly, I know I will be through them all by tomorrow... Bummer.

I just can’t do it. I try not to DNF, especially not with a bad rating but fuck Liz, Raahosh deserves so much more.

Hmm Liz is a bitch. Like how are you gonna complain about a grumpy mate when you’ve been nothing but an asshole? Especially after he continues to take care of you and you just treat him like crap?

Ugh she’s so annoying! So angry that she couldn’t make a choice but he didn’t either. Idk how long I can endure this bullshit.

Liz is my favorite female-abducted by aliens-then crash landed on an ice planet- only to be mated to other aliens - character. She is spunky, strong, sarcastic and funny, and has a potty-mouth. All the qualities of the best girlfriend-to-go-drinking-with!

All of the human females who landed on Not-Hoth have to accept a small, wormlike parasite into their body in order to survive the atmosphere. It is called a Khui and it is a helpful little guy in that it keeps them warm on this ice-rock of a planet, it heals their bodies when they are hurt, and it picks out a perfect mate for them. Okay, maybe that last one isn't so helpful, but more like that overly-involved parent that decides they know what's best for you.

okay, helicopter Khui, stop trying to run my life!

So, Liz calls her Khui a Cootie - which I have to say is adorable. I love Cootie! He is the cutest thing ever.

who's a cute little parasite? You are!

But, Liz is pissed off at her Cootie because it chose Raahosh as her alien mate. Raahosh is the ultimate alpha male of the aliens. He's broody, moody, and ties her down when she tries to escape him while she's weak and sick.

I have the alien version of Grumpy Cat, and he just roped and tied me like a calf at a rodeo. Asshole.

But, as unruly as Raahosh is, Liz is unrulier. more unruly. unable to be ruled... whatever. You get what I'm saying. Liz is not about to put up with his overbearing alpha ways. Raahosh has totally met his match.

Vektal to Raahosh: "Humans must be gently wooed. They are fragile."

My 'fragile' human's fist slams into my cheekbone. "Put me down," she bellows again. "You fucking suck!"

I...suck? But I am eating nothing.

So, even though her Cootie has chosen Raahosh, Liz is determined to reject him. Good luck with that Liz cuz those Cooties are persistent little bastards!

When Liz sees a healer at the cave:
"She's going to speak to your khui and see how you are doing."

"Super. Tell it I said hello and he's a little bastard."

See? I love Liz! She's delightful!

This book is sooo funny! Liz is a laugh-riot the whole time. It's smutty, though, so don't read this if you can't deal with alien porn. Honestly, I didn't think I would be a fan of the alien porn myself. And, yet, here I am... Life's funny sometimes...

Oooh, Me likey a lot!

After finishing the second book of “Ice Planet Barbarians”, I believe it is safe to compare the books to a box of chocolates. You know you will love them (because chocolate, dah…) , but you are not sure what kind of flavor or texture you will get.

I think this time I got the crunchy, sprinkle with nuts chocolate outside but with a gooey and melting milk chocolate inside, maybe with a surprise hazelnut in the centre.

Raahosh (i.e. the angry one who growls according to Kira’s translator) is simply a huge sweetheart. Tough, muscled all over, with ridges, scarred, really scary.
But apparently he has the best heart, the best intentions and he is truly a virgin.

Raahosh never had a loving family. He never had something that belonged to him. So when his khui is vibrating and purring for Liz, he is so happy that he found his mate. Until Liz starts talking and it becomes obvious that she hates him and unfortunate Raahosh cannot understand his khui anymore.
“My khui is an idiot.”

Still Raahosh does not give up. He steals away Liz and he tries to convince her to accept him as a mate and to carry his child.

Liz is an independent, smart mouth, feisty girl who does not want to become a mommy
no matter how much her khui insists….

“The cootie in my chest thrums, and I smack it to silence it. Fucking cootie.”

…and
no matter how hard Raadosh is trying to convince her.

“I really hate this guy,” I say as I chew aloud. “Can’t make lemonade when the lemon’s such a huge dick.”

Of course being a virgin and all and knowing nothing about the strange human courtship, does not help our big blue friend.

Needless to say, I loved this book. I laughed my head off and I had a great time with this awkward couple. They definitely deserve each other.

(If you don’t know what khui is, please read the first book. It is an interesting surprise…)

Overall Book two was pretty fucking hilarious and Ruby Dixon has forever won my reader loyalty for barbarian yummy smut in space of course.

The Ice Barbarian series continues with premise of human girls who got kidnapped, then ship crashed so now they all trapped on an ice planet with no resources ... till certain sexy aliens shows up *Cheering!*

I gotta say I greatly enjoyed our heroine Liz more than Georgie in the first book. Liz had more spunk, more backbone, just more everything

“My ‘fragile' human's fist slams into my cheekbone.
"Put me down," she bellows again. "You fucking suck!"
I…suck? But I am eating nothing."

Raahosh was also one of those hot-quiet-alphas that just sneak into your heart kind of thing.

“What did he just say?" one of the girls asks.
"It doesn't translate well," Kira says, touching her ear where the translator piece is. "Something like ‘Angry one who growls'."
"It's his name," I say, though I'm guessing. ‘Growly Bastard' suits him”

After an attack and personal loss, Raahosh is scarred inside and out and needs MY HELP! I mean Liz, his mate, Liz...

Basically, Raahosh reacts to Liz who isn't sure whether she wants to mate. Liz hilariously bitches and rants assuming he doesn't speak English when ... plot twist he totally does. *fucking deadddd* The two work to survive in the different caves with Raahosh trying to win her heart and Liz trying to escape.

Fun hilarious sexy alien. Why wouldn't you read it?

“Don’t your people have words like that? What would you call me?”
“Liz?”
She smacks my chest. “Like a pet name. A nickname that one says out of affection.”
I think for a moment. “Woman?”
She makes an exasperated sound. “You know what? Never mind. Just forget—“
But now I understand what she is asking. “My woman?” I murmur, tilting her head toward me”

I think this series is the definition of ‘in it for a good time, not a long time’ though I am absolutely in it for a long time too.

They’re ridiculous and cheesy in the best possible way. And whilst they’re lighthearted and silly, there’s enough substance and heart to the story to make the reading experience enjoyable.

I had so much fun with it! 😍

My khui is an idiot. It must be. Why else would it ignore the women of my clan and the moment we enter the den of the dirty, ragged humans, it begins to bleat in my chest like a quill beast? Or that it chose the frailest of the sick humans to select as my mate?

description

This is the story of Liz and Raahosh. She is one of the human survivors on Not-Hoth, while he is one of the blue, horned aliens in need of a mate. Only he is dark and brooding, and he has a tormented past that makes him kidnap his woman. Liz assumes he doesn't know English and he doesn't correct her, which leads to a few very funny moments.

I found Liz a bit confusing in the first half. In the last book she seemed very positive, while in this one she's quite the opposite. Not to mention that the signals she gives her man alien are mixed, so he doesn't really know how to act around her.

Also, I didn't like the part where they had to return to the tribe.

So yes, I liked it, but not that much.

BR with the Alien Smut Loving Aussie Ladies

As there have been complaints ::cough::Aileene::cough:: about this lack of review, I've decided to show off the new lingerie line for all those panty melting Ice Planet Barbarians. The underwear colors coordinate with the name written on the front, in a very classy way, obviously. Now your crotch coverings can match your alien lover's body color. Couples who care match.

Matching chest coverings to come. Serious Not-Hoth alien lover inquiries only, please.
(P.S. this is my first attempt at photoshop, so don't judge too harshly. I'm not entirely sure about Vektal's color.)

Initial Review:
I don't feel like writing a true review, maybe later. Instead I'm going to post pictures of scary creatures in Australia, which probably are running around the ice planet, Not-Hoth.

Coconut Crabs

Flying Foxes (don't they look like a bear, fox, and a gargoyle had a baby?)

Saltwater Crocodiles (Someone call Crocodile Dundee!)

And the python that can end it all for the croc
(Pretty amazing. It was a five hour battle between the two, the victor eats it whole.)

“If you come again,” I warn him, “It’s all right. But I’ll try and be gentle with you.” I give him a wink as the look on his face turns incredulous.

━━━━━━━━━━━ ♡ ━━━━━━━━━━━

Liz (h)...your hand in marriage? This is a hard one to rate because, like with Ice Planet Barbarian, Dixon writes great romance, great steam and great humour — you can just tell she enjoys herself when writing these and it's contagious. However, some elements were better than others. There was a lot of good here, but sadly also a prominent amount of bad too 🙁.

Although I quite liked Georgie as an fmc in the first book, I enjoyed Liz even more. Yet, I am not fond of Raahosh (H); he's even more dickish and disrespectful than Vektal had been. But what's most shocking to me is the reviews saying that Raahosh deserved better because they don't like Liz? Excuse me, who's the one who
— forced the other against their will to take a khui
— kidnapped the other away from her friends
— insists on impregnating her even though she's not sure about it
— doesn't give much of a choice or say because "it's decided"
— touches her in her sleep??
— as Liz says "Raahosh isn't exactly Mr. Boundaries"
— ridicules Liz for talking too much
"You belong to me, female."
— proclaims that if Liz doesn't satisfy his khui, it'll "stop asking and start demanding" (SA 😻)
— doesn't inform Liz that women carry alien pregnancies for 3 YEARS
— first time they have penetrative sex he just thrusts into her no preamble

That's a lot of negativity to start a mostly positive review, but it's something I needed to get out of the way. I just don't see the appeal of writing love interests that don't respect their woman's decisions and think they're in charge. Like the top review said, I think we're all tired of the badboy/alphamale heroes. It's a shame because Raahosh does have a loving, dare I even say swoony, side to him.

“You are everything to me, Liz,” I say softly. “My world. My heart.”
“Is that a declaration of love?” she asks sleepily, her voice muffled by my chest.
I nod. My people normally do not declare love boldly, but I love Liz. She is mine and I am hers. “I love you, Liz.”

I think Dixon could have chosen to lean even further that way, rather than have Liz be resigned to doing what he wants. Raahosh had potential: he has the biggest dick in the tribe, he's a shy virgin, and he has one broken horn and a scarred face. Yet once again this just all leads to Liz being an absolute sweetheart.

I clasp his ankle to stop him, and he gazes down at me with those narrow, blade-sharp eyes that seem to hide all emotion. "You misunderstand me," I say. I don't know why it matters to me that I don't hurt him, but it does. "I think it's obvious that you're scarred. You're missing a horn. But I didn't say it was unattractive." I lick my lips. "I kind of like it."

I just think that if Dixon had maintained more of the bashful blushing Raahosh thing that she had sometimes going on, it would have worked a bit better. At least Raahosh eats good? But gosh, Liz is just perfect. Like look at her, she's so bae.

“My lips caress his, slow and sensual. He freezes against me, his big hands down along my sides, his body looming over mine, and he’s stiff and unyielding. So I continue to coax him with my mouth. “This is how you kiss, big guy,” I murmur between pecks of my mouth against his, letting my lips caress the hard line of his mouth.

In addition to hot (god, let me not even start), she's also so loving and tender, like.

“Just trust me, baby.” She raises our linked fingers to her lips and kisses my knuckles like I kissed hers. “But give me a few days, all right? You have to take care of yourself for my sake. You have to sleep, and eat. I want my mate to live.”

And of course, she's funny as fuck. She gives Raahosh the time of is life and is like, "bye" 😹.

“Not your mate,” she yawns. “Last night was just for funsies.” Then she grabs the furs and pulls them back over her.

They argue like a married couple and it's kind of everything.

“Dammit, don’t make me feel sorry for you.”
He grunts and savagely cuts another bit of meat off the kill, then chews it, the expression on his face bitter. “I do not want your pity, woman.”

And she doesn't take Raahosh's shit when he's pissy.

“Yeah, I thought so.” I gesture at the cave mouth. “So now I’m going to go out and catch us breakfast. You can sit in here and like, beat your chest like a caveman or something.”

This man was left bamboozled 😹. And in addition to that, Liz is so strong.

— expertly braids her hair
— makes her own bow and arrows
— brainfully uses her last arrow to threaten the baby metlak rather than using it on just one out of the many adult metlaks attacking her
— saves Raahosh from metlaks
— carries Raahosh's unconcious body back to their cave
— nurtures Raahosh back to health
— while he's recovering for all of 9 days, she does the hunting and makes more gear
— after Raahosh is exiled, she pulls strings to get him back
— scares all the other men in the cave away so they can have their cute lil reunion fuck

Raahosh, you're a lucky (undeserving) man. Liz is a catch in nearly every way. I can agree that she was a little bit harsh on the other girls at the beginning, but can we all agree that they were in the process of starving/freezing to death so they're not gonna be their most pleasant selves? 😀

Anyway, the steam in this was really good too. All around, Dixon is seriously making her way up my favourite author's list because she seriously writes dialogue with such flair and witt, it's a delight to read. Add that to my love for her female characters and the excellency of the sex scenes, and her book's storylines, AND the way she makes sure to always include a sex scene after both characters get reunited and well... I think she's honestly a great author. I was also impressed with the way she seamlessly begins to tease the couple for the next book, and also starts slowly unraveling some details about the sa-khui families. Yeah, Dixon doesn't info dump 😌💞. And can we talk about the ultimate "punishment" for Raahosh and Liz? That was so perfectly thought out, and so fitting - I'm seriously impressed. Definitely looking forward to continuing this series, though I'm not sure any fmc will top Liz 😚.

“I’m going to make you come,” I tell him, dragging my nails down one thigh lightly. “And then I’m going to take my time with you. All right?”

My proposal still stands and all that 🤭. Rounded it up to four stars for you only, Liz 💞💘💕.

Awww, I loved it!

That settled it, I am addicted to this series now. I want the next book yesterday! And the next one too!

Just like the first book, this is a silly read (hello, aliens!), with silly situations (aliens!), but is a silly I like, a lot, so... give me silly!

Liz was pretty funny, not that her main worries and attitude were very believable according to the circumstances but hell, who cares? I liked it all.
Raahosh is the best, so sweet and innocent!

The sex was pretty cool too... ;)

I don't know how to review these books 😂

So I am just going to leave the best quotes. I liked this one but not as much as the first book but I still had fun with it. I am actually really wanting to find out what happens with the next couple bc they seem super interesting and fun! I did really like Liz and Rahosh though they were both grumpy and stubborn and really cute.

Here you go....

"Having an alien lay claim to me feels.. weird. I don't even get a choice? This is like me saying "I want a cheeseburger" and someone slapping a pickle into my hand and saying "Fuck you, you get a pickle."

"My khui is an idiot."

"I have the alien version of Grumpy Cat, and he just roped and tied me like a calf at a rodeo. Asshole"

"She will be my everything. My first mate. My first lover. The mother of my children."

"When I imagine happiness, I imagine her face. It doesn't matter that she is different she is mine and I am hers."

"Oh boy, I have a bona-fide alien virgin."

"If I lose you, I have nothing"

"That's fine. If Georgie jumps off a cliff, it doesn't mean I have to, also. She may be blinded by blue alien dick, but I am not."

"There is no ownership. You are mine as much as I am yours".

Also, the heroine was annoying for half of the book.

I think I'm addicted to alien smut.

I'm starting to have feels about the stories... What is happening to me? Who the hell am I?

"I will give her anything she asks for. Anything. Everything."

This was a great sequel to Ice Planet Barbarians. And I think I love Raahosh even more than Vektal.

That's probably because he has the whole damaged leading man thing going on. And the caveman thing. And the stupidly big alien peen thing. There wasn't as much talk about the ridges this time round though. Aileene will be disappointed.

This was SO HOT. I love the steaminess of this series. The sex. It doesn't even matter that it's alien on human when it's this well written and it just sizzles off the bloody pages.

"Now I see why Georgie was totally cool with Vektal claiming her as his mate. If he's anything like Raahosh, he dicked the brains right out of her."

Liz. Oh what a gem. Seriously, she is such an asshole. I love her. She's also sarcastic as all hell and supremely entertaining. She's also strong and holds her own and even saves Raahosh at one point, because she's so badass.

"The fact that he was a big ol' virgin tells me that with the few ladies in the tribe, they weren't exactly banging down his door for his dick."

There was far more *drama* in this one, because of the way Raahosh goes about mating with Liz, but fear not my fellow alien smut lovers, there is a happy ending in this bad boy.

I would like to read Aehako and Kira's story now please. I especially can't wait to see what Kira thinks of the gift that Liz told Aehako to make. It's going to be great, gimme, gimme!

This one was a bit cheesier than the first, but I loved it nonetheless.

I made myself read book 2 because I'd heard that the series gets better as it goes. Unfortunately, this one also didn't work for me. I will say that the tone issues did get a tad better, but that's probably the most positive thing I have to say here.

There is a vast array of characters throughout these first two books and I have such a hard time differentiating between them all, human and alien alike. They are really flat.

Book one had some dubcon and that trend continued here. I think it was particularly awful to me here because the big joke becomes that our alien learns that no means yes. Ha ha ha. A riot.

I gave it a college try, but I've just got to accept that whatever magic is here for other people, just doesn't exist for me.

Grumpy alien & crabby woman!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💋💋💋💋
Heat/Steam: 🥵🥵🥵🥵
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌕🪐☄️🌎
Character development: 👽🥶😨🥰

The heroine: Liz - she is fiercely independent and immediately hates Raahosh. Liz is a talker and and independent woman who is used to fending for herself. She hunted with her father as a child and wants to be useful.

The Hero(es): Raahosh - He is the largest man in his tribe and the best hunter. He has a broken horn and some scars on his face and wants nothing more than to find a mate to cherish. His Qui resonates as soon as he sees Liz.

The Story: Raahosh immediately knows that Liz is his mate but hides it since Vektal lets it be known that the women have different customs and are able to choose their own mates on Earth. Though when Liz refuses the Qui (or what she calls a “Cootie”), Raahosh forces her to accept it. She will die without it.

He knows forcing it on her will anger and turn her against him more than she already is, he decides to take her away so they can be alone until she accepts him as her mate. Liz doesn’t realize that Raahosh learned English on the alien ship, so she is pretty mean and snarky when she wakes up. I really didn’t like her much at all. I thought I would hate the book, but it got better as it went on and it was pretty steamy as well.

I admit there are more times than not that I really disliked Liz, but the story did get really good at times. Especially when they go hunting together. And it turned out Liz’s outspokenness worked for her in the end.
