Hot for teacher!
Derek likes pretty boys, but he likes the pretty "straight" ones more.
This was a sexy, naughty story, but utterly unbelievable.
Even though Shawn is a student with two kids to raise and school to worry about, he seems to spend all his time sucking his professor's cock. No wonder he's failing his courses!
And the professor...he was like the Beast except prettier: gruff, aloof, angry. Even though we get some of his backstory, his coldness made him a wooden, uninteresting character. I needed him to change more as a character, and he didn't.
I also prefer my villains to be three-dimensional. Derek's father was too much of a caricature.
And finally: the kids. *shakes head sadly* They were props, left in the car on the side of the road so the MCs could neck in the woods, left alone (at preschool or in the next room) so Derek and Shawn could fuck. They piped up with cute observations when it was necessary to drive the plot along. In short, they were representations of what adults who've never been around children might imagine 4-year-olds to be like. Let me assure you: They are more demanding, more self-absorbed, and generally uninterested in adult lives.
All that being said, this was an extremely readable book. There were plenty of insanely racy scenes (worth reading for those alone), and the ending was satisfying enough.

Seventh re-read: 19.10.2021
I've been sick now for almost two weeks, and you know when you're sick you want to read your comfort books and this is one of them. While I haven't been able to read before now as it was impossible to concentrate, - I've been re-watching Once Upon A Time to pass the time - I'm glad I finally managed to read something and still enjoy it.

I decided to re-read this one again simply because for the past.... three months or so, I've struggled immensely with focusing/concentrating on books - or things in general. Hence why I've been re-reading more than I've been reading new books. I've made the mistake of re-reading a detailed book - Elder Races #1 where I just couldn't get into the book again. I struggled and I got so angry with myself because I know I adore the book. Then I made another mistake by starting another detailed book (much more than Elder Races), a book I love, and I found myself skimming before the damn first line was finished. I kept trying, I just couldn't dive into the story and I found the characters annoying rather than adoring. I knew I had to take a break before I ended up hurting myself and started this one again. Why? Because this one is easy, has little information and it so straight forward and hot that I'm sure I'll be able to still love it. And it worked. Thank god. I love this book, I can't help it. It's an obsession. I just wished we had gotten more of Derek and Shawn...

Me and my girl, Nazanin, were talking about this series and I got this strong need to re-read it again, so here I am. God I am hopeless. The book is still very enjoyable, I just wish we had gotten a sequel with these two. I wish this with almost every couple in this series. One book per couple isn't enough. At least not for me. The book gets better each time I read it though.. so strange. On to re-reading Christian's book.

The thing is, I COULD'VE LOVED THIS ONE IF ONLY IT HAD MORE DEPTH! Seriously, the story is so damn hot and has so much potential that I want to hurt someone. I'm completely honest here. I wished we had gotten a sequel for Derek and Shawn simply because this book feel like an prequel of how they started their relationship and book two could've been about them going deeper and building a stronger bond and become a family with the little ones. I mean, it could've been so damn good. Still, it's damn hot book; I love the theme teacher-student, I just wished the story was deeper and the connection was more and the book was longer. I'm gonna re-read book two now.

What kind of ending was that?! I wanted more! Professor Derek ‘Professor Asshole’ Rutledge (33) was cool with his cold and controlling ways and Shawn Wyatt (20) was cute and open. I liked how he wanted more for his sisters, the twin girls, Emily and Melissa ‘Bee’ Wyatt (4) and I liked the story. However, I wanted more. It needed to be longer and it needed a bit more depth and connection between the characters. The book was good, yet I still felt like I was on the outside looking in.

Shawn pulled off the cock with a little pop and looked up at Rutledge, still tasting him all over his tongue. 5 OMG Professor Rutledge Stars
Holy shit someone hose me down. Professor Derek Ruthledge was so yummy I think I melted into a puddle. Just a Bit Twisted, was such a sexy and sweet read. I really really REALLY loved Derek. He was so buttoned up, and cold. I loved his controlling domineering ways. It made when he showed a softer side all the more sweet. I truly fell in love with Derek Ruthledge. I also really like Shawn. I loved how loyal and sweet he was. Taking care of his sisters, working his ass off and going to school. Shawn could see under Derek's rough exterior to the amazing man he was. The sex was off the walls hot. I loved the naughty hot teacher/student thing going on. But I loved the sweet moments the best.
I normally love little kids in books. I am a total sucker for sassy little kids, but I was a little put off with Shawn's 4 year old twin sisters. They were cute don't get me wrong. There was some cute moments with Derek and the girls, but omg there was a super bad parenting moment that drove me nuts. It was as they were driving to Derek's father's house that the moment happened. Derek, Shawn, and both girls were driving hours to Derek's dads and the girls fell asleep. While the girls were sleeping, Derek just pulled off on the side of the road and took Shawn into the woods for some making out and a double handy. As a mom I was like WTF they just left the babies in the car? Do they not read the signs on the doors at Walmart?
lol It had me straight tripping. They could have got out and got hit by a car, started the car and wrecked it, died from heat or a number of other crazy shit that ran through my mind at that bad parenting moment. Still the book was a great read and I really did love me some Derek. I am just gonna pretend they never left two 4 year olds in the car on the side of the road for more than 10 minutes lol.

And get this, the professor's first name is Derek.
A socially closed off asshole named Derek.
Do you see why I might be
I like assholes. I also like dicks. I like when they go together especially. They get together a lot in "Just a Bit Twisted".
Sometimes you want the believability. And sometimes the writing just hits that spot that you hit the
level.And I was swimming there.
From the first time Shawn dropped to his knees and took the D to the back of his throat with very minor hesitancy (y'know being "straight" and all).
Derek would tell Shawn to get on his knees and the blonde couldn't get there fast enough. *swoon*

This author has more to this series, so I'm taking it she has improved? She's far from bad, definitely in the guilty pleasure territory.
The strong suit are the fuck times, the main character's characteristics, the sexual tension. *shudder* The parts that were rough were the transitioning from scene to scene, ending in a odd spot. The 4 year olds...eh, they weren't like 4 year olds I've been around but whatever...I kept ignoring them for the main guys. The story has moxie and she definitely can tell a story. Loved the way it ended even if it was a little rushed.
I know I'll return for more. Me likes the guilty pleasures.

And after a while, there even seemed to be growing some true feelings between them, which I appreciated. It still wasn’t much, but it was enough to satisfy me in this case.
There's a delicious power imbalance here between an arsehole professor and a failing student.
I really liked how badly Professor Rutledge wanted Shawn, and what he was willing to do to get him.
Although, I do wish this desire would have been based a little bit more on emotion, as right now, it was mostly lust and sexual chemistry..
Maybe it would have helped to also have Rutledge's POV?

i’m so glad i re-read this!
i think when i first read this book (it was my first AH book ever), i wasn’t really used to AH’s brand of writing yet and her sometimes insane plot lines, and honestly, i wasn’t really a fan.

i think when i first read this book (it was my first AH book ever), i wasn’t really used to AH’s brand of writing yet and her sometimes insane plot lines, and honestly, i wasn’t really a fan.

What a surprise!
The first book I finished this year is an honest to God anti-romance! I would never have thought that this appealed to me, but it so did. I absolutely loved everything about this story.
It was morally wrong on so many levels…
Shawn Wyatt is attending college to become an engineer. His parents died and left him and his two four year old sisters nothing but debts, so Shawn is working two jobs WHILE attending college on a scholarship.
When the college informs him in writing that his grades are too low to stay on the scholarship, he becomes desperate and tries to talk his a**hole teacher Mr Rutledge into giving him a passing grade so he doesn’t lose his scholarship.
The man says no.
Following a weird advice from his best friend, he offers Mr Rutledge a blowjob in return for a passing grade. Even though Shawn is straight, he’d do ANYTHING to stay on that scholarship so he can support his sisters.
The man accepts.
This plot is like a nightmare for any college student. It touches abuse of power, a forbidden sexual relation between student and teacher and even dives into prostitution.
HOWEVER, it is an amazing story! Rutledge is a real anti-hero. He even treated the girls like shit. I hated him so much and yet he did have that certain a**hole charm that mesmerized Shawn despite all their weird circumstances.
The ending was simply amazing too and so perfectly in character, it really touched me.
I wish they hadn’t talked so much about sex with the little girls asleep on the backseat, though. Who knows if they were really asleep…
Still, this was a perfectly dark romance that warmed my heart!

Just a Bit Twisted is book one in the Straight Guys series. I don’t know what it is about these books but I am so addicted to them.
Shawn Wyatt is twenty years old and is a college engineering student on scholarship. After the death of his parents, Shawn is also caring for his twin four year old sisters. He’s working two jobs, paying a baby sitter and trying to go to school and keep his studies up. Something had to give and it was his grades.
Derek Rutledge is thirty three years old and is one of Shawn’s professors. He’s well known around campus for being impossibly harsh and he’s cutting Shawn no slack. Shawn is failing. So out of desperation, he makes his professor an offer.
The relationship between these two may have begun on a deal but things changed. They changed. But Derek’s life is complicated and so is Shawn’s. Is there any way for this to go any further?
I loved this. My one complaint is the abrupt ending but I’m hoping to get a glimpse of them in the next book which is Shawn’s best friend, Christian’s book in, Just a Bit Obsessed. I can’t wait!

this book was so cute and adorable (it may have to do with little kids involved in the story though, which i always love). i loved Derek and Shawn together. i've been reading the series out of order (nothing new for me lol), but the way this series is filled with both mcs in each book not being able to resist one another/can't ever have enough of the other is the type of shit i live for. 🥰
p.s. i'm not manifesting this, but the fact that i've had a good 4-5 stars streak with this series so far (this one being my 7th book) kinda makes me scared for the remaining five i have yet to read but, as long as they end up being entertaining, even if it's not a favorite, it's good enough for me. 🤧

I enjoyed this story a lot! I loved it! But I had some issues like always!!! First it was really short! I needed more!!! I wanted to read more about them and their relationship! Second, I really wanted Derek’s POV! I wanted to know what was in his mind, I wanted to know about his feelings toward Shawn and why his so jerk! Haha!

Why did I ever wait that long to start on this series? Seriously? Apparently, I’m dumb! 😂 So with an opening like that, you sure must know that I loved this book. A LOT. 😁 And if you need another endorsement, I finished this book within 90 mins so .. yea, I loved it. 😉

The writing in this is god awful at times. Mostly the dialogue. And only if it's Shawn and Christian talking. Cut all their scenes and we’re fine.
Rutledge is so goddamn hot. I love how he constantly yanks Wyatt in his lap. One time he also pushes him off his lap and I just. Is lap sitting a kink?

Also Rutledge being like „I don’t like kids.“ And then being soft and gentle towards Emily and Bee? I don’t like kids but I like men who are good with kids.
Also the tenderness between Shawn and Rutledge. One time they button up each other’s shirts????? What’s up with that.

Wow...this was a hot little number...damn
Not totally believable, but who cares ??
So...Shawn Wyatt is a 20-year-old student, raising his 4-year-old twin sisters. His parents died a while ago and left him with a lot of debt. This means he has to work multiple jobs and pay a babysitter he can't really afford. To top it all off, he's also failing at school. He doesn't have the time to attend all classes and is late with all his papers. If his grades don't improve, they'll take away his scholarship.
He talked to two teachers, who agreed to give him more time and help him out a little, but professor Ruthledge is a cold-hearted bastard and he doesn't want to hear excuses.
Shawns best friend Christian suggests that he should flirt with Ruthledge, because he heard a rumor about the professor liking blond pretty boys. Shawn has always considered himself straight, but he'll do about anything right now to keep his scholarship.
When Shawn goes to speak to Ruthledge, he figures he doesn't have anything to lose. He doesn't really know how to flirt..so he just makes an offer right away, a blowjob for a better grade. The professor accepts, but he doesn't want to end it with just one blowjob so he offers Shawn a deal he can't refuse...
Turns out...Shawns not as straight as he thought he was, because he seems to enjoy sucking dick, way more than he should.

This was all pretty fast paced and pretty unbelievable...but I enjoyed the hell out of this short little number. I would have preferred it to be a bit longer and to at least have an epilogue.
It doesn't have anything about the future, and with Shawn being a student, I would have liked to know what happened....did they come out together...how could Ruthledge still be Shawn's teacher...
But I will have to do with what I got...unfortunately.

Anyway. I fell for Shawn pretty quick when I found out he was one of those guys who takes family seriously. With his parents gone, he is struggling and juggling the life of a working college student on a scholarship while trying to take care of his adorable four year old twin sisters. He needs to keep his job to pay the bills and he needs to keep his grades up to keep his scholarship. He is drowning under all the weight of responsibly but sees a the light through the darkness when his friend Christian tells him the rumor about Professor Rutledge.
Ah... the rumor. It seems the dear stingy and stoic professor likes him some young blond haired boys, well that's what we think or hear at a first. We soon learn after a eye opening, or should I say mouth/throat opening, visit to Professor Rutledge's office just what type of boys he really likes.
I liked the way the story moved. It moved a bit quick and yeah, Shawn did somethings most straight boys wouldn't do for money or grades, or so I am told to think, but I liked his inner thoughts and how he would question and over think what he was doing and then just went with it.
The story went where I wanted it to go and I was happy with that. I liked Rutledge fighting his feelings and wanting more just as much as I liked Shawn fighting his feelings about his oral fixation and being with a man. Not that Shawn was gay, but he was bisexual and thank goodness he needed a bit of help with his grades, otherwise we would never know how much he really likes cock, and Shawn, really likes cock.
It was fun to get a bit of Xavier and Sage from Straight Boy: A Short Story as well and I liked that we get to meet Christian as he talks about the threesome he was invited to. I can't wait to read his story.

Oh goodness this was a super sexy, off the charts hot read, and right from chapter one it grabbed my attention. Shawn is a college student who is struggling with his classes, working two jobs to be able to take care of his twin little sisters, his also straight. In comes the hot and stoic professor Rutledge, his gay and loves turning straight guys gay. He loves a challenge, and so a bargain with sexual favors is struck. What starts as something convenient quickly becomes hot and intense. Shawn's and the professors chemistry was so freaking hot, the first kiss so dirty and sexy!!
This was a quick, light on drama read with an OTT possessive professor, and a straight student who couldn't say no and found himself not so straight.

AH choose an interesting plot for sure for this couple. I was hesitant about this when I started reading it and I was highllllyyy skeptical.

Shawn frowned. “What?”

I can definitely see why some people won't like this book or even this series or even Alessandra as an author. She's not for everyone and even some friends of mine who read the same types of book has mine would probably hate her books.
But Christ, I can't help but devour and get absolutely smitten with her works. She has a way with writing chemistry that no matter how short or incredibly fucked up, it Just Works.
Shawn gave it an experimental squeeze and looked at the guy. Rutledge’s face remained impassive. For some reason, that pissed Shawn off. He smiled. “Looks like you have a thing for ‘pretty, empty-headed boys,’ Professor.”
Rutledge’s lips pressed together. Otherwise, he looked almost bored. “It’s just a physiological reaction to stimuli and a pretty face. You are not responsible for your physical appearance, so it’s hardly something to be proud of. Now, if you really intend to do it, stop wasting my time.”

Was the premise of this book questionable? Yes. Did i devour it regardless? Also yes.
The second you start reading this book, you're pulled in by learning about Shawn's family: his parents both died and he takes care of his 4yo twin sisters, Bee and Emily. I've begun to understand that, even though I do strongly dislike children, men taking care of little girls is the cutest fucking thing ever. It's a dynamic I always seem to love.
Shawn is struggling academically, and therefore, financially since his grades are too low for the scholarship he has. The main class that's causing him problems is Professor Rutledge's class. Logically, Shawn decides to explain to Rutledge that he's in a difficult position, but Rutledge does not care for "pity stories", so instead they end up forming a sort of...frisky agreement: Rutledge won't fail Shawn if he gives him a BJ.
Shawn is straight or so he thinks...until the hunk of a man called Rutledge started dirty talking and boom, dicks rise. I quite enjoyed Shawn as the mc, he actually participated in the dialogue and didn't just act as eyes for the reader to see out of. He also had some stamina, responding and rejecting certain statements made by Rutledge.
Rutledge is a cold, sophisticated ice-queen and I love him. He's always very forward with what he says and he makes it hot too. I'd probably be willing to do anything for this man.

Its time for my annual rereading of the straight guy series. I needed a pick me up and this series gives me what I'm looking for. Listened to the audio and read along. Still liked it. A lot.

I try and read my favorite books once a year. It's been a shitty month, and I need my guilty pleasure reads. Still loved it. Onto the next one in the series.

I love this series. The professor/student is a favorite trope of mine. I enjoy the hot chemistry between Derek and Wyatt and I loved how Wyatt and his sisters melt the ice around Derek's cold heart.
This series is my comfort read.
