Allison is traveling to her sister’s house when she gets into a car accident. When she goes to check on the person in the other vehicle, he tries to kill her. She also sees what she thinks is a dead body near the crash. An action-packed, suspenseful story of Allison, with the help of Sergeant Jackson Archer, evading the people who have targeted her.
Who is trying to kill Allison and why? Can Jackson protect her? Why is the FBI involved? Is there a mole in the police department, as Jackson suspects? These questions and more are answered in Accidental Target.
Allison Moore is a great protagonist. Thrust into a situation where she is being hunted by some very dangerous people, Allison shows an incredible amount of bravery and determination. She continually worries about other people even though her life is at risk. I love her selfless and nurturing spirit and how Jackson expresses his admiration of her throughout the story.
Sergeant Jackson Archer is blunt and brutally honest. He has a rough and gruff exterior, which he uses to keep people at bay and to hide his pain. Suffering from the loss of his wife and child, Jackson hasn’t healed from the loss. He is a man of integrity with strong values and honorable intentions, but his personal demons threaten to destroy him and hinder any chance of a romantic relationship.
Allison sees past the walls Jackson erected, but, since both struggles with self-doubt and feelings of worthlessness, their romance is slow-building. The extreme and dangerous circumstances force them to examine their feelings for each other. Plus, they make a really good team!
In addition to the well-developed characters, there is a suspenseful mystery and tons of action that kept me immersed in the story. Allison and Jackson get into some harrowing situations, and neither knows who to trust. With attempted murders, crooked cops, FBI investigations, kidnappings, and more, there is never a dull moment for this couple.

Night of the Vampire is an immersive paranormal romance that follows Killian and Lizzy, a vampire and witch who work together to try to save a friend Night of the Vampire is an immersive paranormal romance that follows Killian and Lizzy, a vampire and witch who work together to try to save a friend from an evil curse. Killian is desperate to save his friend from a deadly curse when he enters a local voodoo shop in search of help. He doesn’t expect to be drawn to Lizzy, the beautiful witch who owns the shop. Lizzie hasn’t fully realized her power and doesn’t know how she can help Killian and his friend. However, she can’t resist the feelings she has for the mysterious Killian. Will they save Killian’s friend in time? Will Lizzy embrace her powers? And can they resist their feelings for each other when fate seems to want them together?
The romance between Killian and Lizzy is chemistry-charged and steamy. They have an intense relationship, and Killian knows from the first meeting that Lizzy is special. Lizzy, however, takes some persuasion. Because of some terrible happenings in her past, Lizzy hesitates to let Killian get close. She doesn’t trust him or herself, and she questions his secrecy and motives. I like that Killian has to work a bit to win Lizzy over. She doesn’t fall at his feet like one would expect when facing a sexy, enigmatic, alpha vampire. I also like that, though Killian is a possessive and dominant leader who is used to getting what he wants without question, he respects and supports Lizzy’s independence enough to let her make her own decisions.
Another highlight of the story is the strong messages about the bonds of friendship and family. Killian and his clan are so loyal toward each other, and their trust in each other, even when they don’t always agree, is implicit. They have a long and complex history, and they value each other. Killian, in particular, is motivated by his love of and loyalty to his friends, and he often puts himself at risk to protect others. Though he has one friend in this close-knit group that has resentments, their unbreakable bond is always present. I love that Lizzie finds a family in Killian and his clan, which is what she had been missing for most of her life.
I enjoyed this unique and well-paced story, and I’m curious to find out more about Lizzie and Killian’s world. Who is targeting them? Will Lizzie and Killian ever catch the evil forces that threaten them? Will Lizzie connect more with her Aunt and work with the coven to develop her skills? As this is the first novel in the series, I have a feeling all of this and more will be explored in future books. Thanks so much to Netgalley, Everblood Publishing, and the author for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

I won this book in a Goodreads Giveaway and was intrigued by the cute little dog in the corner of the cover. As I had never read a book by Karen Ranney, I enthusiastically dove in. I love reading books by newfound authors, and this one didn't disappoint.
Elanor Craig of Hearthmere lives a life that most only dream of. The niece of a wealthy businessman and owner of her own property, Elanor is also engaged to a young and handsome Earl. But Elanor lives in London and desperately misses her home in Scotland - a home she is only allowed to visit for one month each year. While visiting Hearthmere, Elanor meets Logan, and there is instant chemistry.
Though at first they don't seem to get along, the chemistry is instantaneous. Logan is intrigued by Elanor, and when he delivers a surprise to her home, their lives become irrevocably entwined. When Elanor returns to London and her insufferable family, she feels smothered. That is until Logan reenters her life. With Logan, Elanor is herself with no front or protocol. As the couple grows closer and closer, they must decide what is more important - obligation to family or love.
I absolutely loved this story. The characters are well-developed and the story is engrossing. I enjoyed watching the love story between Elanor and Logan unfold. And I adored their furry little connection!
Bruce is a rambunctious puppy that teaches Elanor how to love and trust again. He is her bright spot in an otherwise dreary life. Orphaned at a young age and surrounded by vapid, greedy, and selfish relatives, Elanor learns to love and fight for herself with the help of Bruce and Logan.
This historical romance has a wonderful and steamy romance, villainous and predatory antagonists, and a sweet and lovable dog. What's not to love?

Asher is an ancient vampire who is part of The Brotherhood, a group of supernaturals who live by a strict moral code and mete out justice only to those who deserve to die. One of the most dangerous men in the world, Asher never thought he would fall for someone. But there’s something about the fierce vampire-huntress that he can’t resist. Bound together by emails that have targeted both Jo and the Brotherhood, Asher and Jo work together to find out who is behind the attempts on Jo’s life.
The feelings between Jo and Asher are deep and passionate. I love that Asher is attracted to Jo’s strength and confidence. He likes how she handles herself in battle, and he’s amazed by her skill. Jo, in turn, appreciates Asher’s skill in combat and immense self-control. Neither ever let their guard down, and they are both slow to trust, which makes sense considering their pasts and their lives as hunters. It also makes for some sizzling chemistry! Jo and Asher are so drawn to each other, and their connection is strong and awesome to see grow.
The other characters in the book are interesting as well. I intend to go back and read the first two books in the series to learn more about Morrigan and Maccus, minor characters in this book who have lead roles in the first book, and as well as Alexei and other characters that have small appearances in Burning Ash.
Burning Ash is a great story for readers who enjoy paranormal romance with strong heroines, powerful alpha males, and a lot of action. Though it is the third book in the Forgotten Brotherhood series, it can easily be read as a standalone, as can the other books. Thanks so much to Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

When Bryce, war chief of Clan MacKinlay, and Dorie, the daughter of an enemy clan leader, learn that they are to marry, neither is happy. However, Bryce, who lost his first wife and child years ago and has no desire to remarry, sees how maltreated Dorie seems and vows to marry and protect her. With secrets, lost love, and past abuse plaguing Dorie and Bryce, can this reluctant pair find love or will fear and the past keep them apart?
I love Dorie and Bryce! They are so different, yet they relate to each other well. They both struggle to open up, trust others, and examine their true feelings. They fear losing the people they love, and they both understand the pain and grief of loss and the guilt of surviving. I think that their connection grows deeper and stronger because of their shared experiences.
I also like how much Bryce and Dorie respect and admire each other. Bryce knows Dorie’s secret but waits for her to reveal it to the others. He also knows about the decade of abuse Dorie received at the hands of her father and brother, and he does what he can to help her. Dorie understands Bryce’s conflicting and complex feelings when it comes to love, marriage, and commitment, and she gives him the time and patience to heal. They are both self-sacrificing and determined to do what’s best for the other before thinking of their own wants and feelings.
There’s another character in the book that stole the show for me – Rascal. I loved Dorie’s loyal, protective, fearsome, and lovable dog! Rascal helped Dorie to heal and was Dorie’s first real friend. He helped her feel safe and loved, and she helped her and Bryce more times than I can count. Rascal is an endearing and heroic pup that I absolutely adored!
Her Reluctant Highlander Husband is a heart-warming and, at times, heartbreaking story that I very much enjoyed. It made me feel all of the feels, especially when it came to Bryce and Dorie’s pasts. He mourned his wife and daughter so much and felt such guilt about moving on. Dorie’s story of guilt, abuse, neglect, and subsequent PTSD is equally heart-wrenching. They are a couple that deserves a happy ending, which I so hoped for!
Finally, I have to comment on the poignant messages about understanding different kinds of love, learning to live again after loss, escaping and healing from abusive people, and supporting family. The author weaves powerful and thought-provoking messages throughout the story. Plus, the romance is positively swoon-worthy! Thanks so much to Netgalley, Entangled Publishing, and the author for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

A mash-up of Beauty and the Beast and Pride and Prejudice, The Beast and the Bookseller is an immersive historical romance about a reclusive duke and A mash-up of Beauty and the Beast and Pride and Prejudice, The Beast and the Bookseller is an immersive historical romance about a reclusive duke and a strong-willed woman who runs her family’s bookstore. The story begins with some major Beauty and the Beast vibes with Garrett Maximilian, the Duke of Montrose, charging into Elizabeth’s bookstore. As he is the main patron, and her drunk father is not meeting the Duke’s expectations, Elizabeth takes over her father’s duties and promises to deliver the Duke his books. This begins a friendship between Garrett and Elizabeth as they bond over their love of literature.
For a relatively short historical romance, the book packs a punch. Elizabeth and Garrett are well-developed characters with compelling stories that highlight many of the problems faced at that time. Gender inequities, the mistreatment of women, abuse, the horrific treatment of patients in mental institutions, alcoholism, and the lack of control women had over their own lives are all shown through Elizabeth and Garrett’s situations and struggles.
The focus of the story, of course, is the blooming relationship between Elizabeth and Garrett, and it is lovely. Garrett is very similar to Darcy in Pride and Prejudice in his actions and way of thinking. And Elizabeth very much resembles Elizabeth Bennett, which I love since they’re actually reading the novel aloud to each other. Both characters expose the other to new experiences and feelings, and their relationship evolves from a working relationship to a friendship to something even more special and swoon-worthy.
I love how Elizabeth and Garrett connect over their love of books, and they use it to battle their worries and grow closer. Garrett has such terrible memories of his childhood, and it has scarred him tremendously, even though he does everything he can to right the wrongs he witnessed. With an alcoholic and verbally abusive father, Elizabeth has experienced her fair share of turmoil. I think that’s why their book talks become so important to both characters.
Elizabeth and Garrett have long and deep discussions about the books they read, and they even read the books aloud to each other. These scenes are very romantic, and the chemistry between them leaps off the page. However, Elizabeth and Garrett come from different social classes, and they both feel like they’re not good enough. On top of that, Elizabeth’s father causes trouble for Elizabeth, which puts her romantic interest in Garrett at risk. Internal and external obstacles stand in their way, and they have a lot to overcome if they want to be together.
I really enjoyed the story. It was fun and witty, but it also tackled some heavier subjects and included some very touching moments. You can’t go wrong with a Darcy-like hero, a bookworm heroine, and a swoon-worthy romance in my book!
Special thanks to Entangled Publishing for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

When Lark’s father tries to marry her off to the highest bidder, Lark takes matters into her own hands and asks Adam to marry her. Desperate to get away from her drunk father, she sees a future with the strong, serious clan leader.
Adam is drawn to the beautiful Lark and is sickened by the thought of her married to another man. So when she begs him to marry her, he quickly agrees. He should have told her the truth about Wolf Isle, but how do you tell your wife about a long-time curse?
The marriage between Lark and Adam is unconventional, and both have secrets that they are afraid to reveal for fear of rejection. Adam doesn’t tell Lark the truth about Wolf Isle until they arrive there, and Lark withholds information about her parents and past abuses. They both have so much to hide, but they also have so much to gain. They just have to learn to trust each other. They are strong and independent, but both are also vulnerable. I loved watching Lark and Adam grow closer and learn more about each other. They have a lot of chemistry, and they complement each other well.
Other characters in the story are interesting as well, and I’m hoping they will be further developed in future books. We are introduced to Adam’s brothers, Lark’s sisters, and many of Adam’s friends and allies. They are dynamic and interesting characters who influence Lark and Adam’s budding relationship. Adam’s brothers are so different, and yet they are united in their loyalty to each other and their quest to bring Wolf Isle back to it’s former, pre-curse glory. I can’t wait to read each of their stories!

Certain they won’t miss the vegetables she took, Aileana is shocked when she is chased back to her castle by none other than Laird James MacDonald. The Devil, as he is widely known, believes he’s chasing a thieving boy back to his enemies castle. When he learns the identity of the thief is one of the Grant sisters, he demands a marriage to compensate for the theft.
Aileana and James handfast and return to his castle with the agreement that they will remain together for two weeks. Unbeknownst to Aileana, James needs to marry a Grant to inherit his fortune, and, like Aileana, plans for the union to end as quickly as possible. Neither expected to develop feelings for the other. Can these enemies put past grievances aside and admit their feelings? How will Aileana react when she finds out the real reason James married her? And how will these enemy clans with a long-standing feud ever accept a union?
Aileana and James have a fantastic enemies-to-lovers romance, and watching them go from suspicious and distrusting to captivated and besotted is lovely! Drawn to each other from the start, they are very attracted to each other, but they also connect on a deeper level. Some of my favorite parts are when the couple talks about their pasts, their families, and their clans. I think they learn a lot about each other and themselves, as well as the long-standing feud between their clan and how destructive it is.
Spending time together forces them to see the feud from each other’s point of view, and, by spending two weeks with James’ clan, Aileana sees first hand how the feud affected James’ people. I think James and Aileana go through similar revelations, and once they start seeing each other and the clans as human beings and not just enemies, they change. I love how their respect and admiration grows, and their feelings slowly change. Plus, their chemistry is fantastic!
James is so different from the “devilish” rumors that surround him, and his devotion to his family and clan equals Aileana’s. Aileana, like James, is strong, smart, and bold. I love her free spirit, and her willingness to jump in when help is needed. Her actions, kindness, and thoughtfulness show everyone that she is as good a person and leader as James.
Twelfth Knight’s Bride is such a great historical holiday romance. I loved the characters, the enemies-to-lovers romance, and the messages of love, forgiveness, and moving on. Readers who enjoy swoon-worthy historical romance with fantastic characters and an epic love story will adore Twelfth Knight’s Bride! Thanks so much to Netgalley, Entangled Publishing, and E.
Eager to make a fresh start after a terrible break-up, Annie moves back to the quaint town where she grew up. Intent on fixing up and living in the house she inherited from her godmother, Annie almost immediately clashes with Jon, a popular local. As they grow to know each other and feelings develop, can Annie and Jon put their misgivings aside and take a chance on love?
A heart-warming story about finding love in the most unlikely of places, The Cottage of New Beginnings is the perfect book for readers who enjoy small-town romance. I enjoyed the romance between Annie and Jon, two kind and giving people who aren’t looking for love. They have great chemistry, and their stories are interesting. Both have scars from past relationships, and both are reluctant to trust and love deeply again. However, their feelings for each other are strong.
Annie is still recovering from a surprising break-up and feels fragile. She’s not used to being alone, and it takes time for her to build confidence and strength. The author shows how deep Annie’s wounds are, and how the town, her new friends, and potential love helps her to find herself and rediscover her roots.
I really like the small community of Thorndale. It is quaint and charming, much like it’s inhabitants, who are well-developed and interesting. Thorndale has changed since Annie last visited and has a modern vibe while still maintaining the older charm that Annie remembers from her childhood. I also like how the author introduces several unique and defined characters, some from Annie’s childhood and some connected to Jon. These old acquaintances and new friends add depth tot he story, and, as this is the first book in the series, I am eager to read more about these characters in future books.
Thanks so much to the author and Rachel’s Random Resources for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

I love Dalanee and her amazing family, and having so many of them in Voklane was a special treat. If you've read the Bella and the Beast-Master series, Delanee is one of their children, and they, their kids, and more are in this book. Oh, and so is Delanee's matchmaking grandmother. Love her! It was amazing to see this special family together.
It was great to finally learn more about Ryan. He's a secretive guy who keeps his personal life and his professional separate, but the lines begin to blur when he offers Delanee, an inquisitive journalist, protection and brings her to his home. His backstory and unusual ability are so intriguing! At Ryan's home, Delanee meets his adorable daughter and the other women in his life. They're all such dynamic characters, and they definitely have the found family vibes going on. Many of the main characters from the previous books also band together for Ryan and Delanee, and they have found family vibes, too. I really enjoyed this aspect of the story and that Ryan was at the center of this amazing group of people.
The slow-building, opposites-attract romance, of course, is my favorite part of the story. lol I love a swoon-worthy romance, and Ryan and Delanee did not disappoint. They have amazing chemistry, and I enjoyed the push and pull between them. There's a lot of suspense and intrigue, too, and the resolution to the overarching plot has a few surprising twists that I definitely didn't expect.
I'm so sad this series is over! It's been a wild ride filled with action, adventure, epic world-building, and remarkable characters. And every single romance is wonderful! The only reason my heart's not completely broken is because there are spin-offs, so we get to stay in this amazing world a little longer! Special thanks to Sarah Westill for sending me a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own....more

These friends turned lovers turned estranged people soon learn their feelings didn’t end when their relationship did.
Teal and her sisters all have abilities connected to the elements. For Teal, the weather is affected by her emotions. This is a power I definitely would not want to have. lol She can’t hide her feelings very well, as the tumultuous weather proves. She’s an interesting and layered character, who goes through so much throughout the story. I liked Carter too, though he definitely frustrated me at times.
Teal has been abused and emotionally manipulated for years and he, though understanding, doesn’t really get it. He’s being too vague with his feelings and letting her second guess herself. I hate this. He should know better. And he runs so hot and cold. I’m not loving his character. The fact that he sided with the grandmother earlier and then did this, which feels like a rejection even though I think it’s because she wants a quickie and he wants forever and making love, is so wrong. He has so much groveling to do. He’s so kind and understanding in some ways, it in others, he lacks empathy. I think, like Tral, he is a flawed person who doesn’t always do things right, but that doesn’t necessarily make him unlovable.
They definitely prove by the end that they are perfectly imperfect and they accept each other the way they are, and, overall, I liked their love story. I also really liked the strong messages about family, sisterhood, friendship, self-acceptance, and more. Though it’s a fun and romantic paranormal rom-com, it also has some touching and emotional moments and a lot of heart.
