i didn’t really know what to expect going into this, but wow, i was completely blown away. the whole concept of gods throwing mortals into a competition to decide the next ruler hooked me right away, and the execution was perfect. the pacing was just right—fast enough to keep me engaged but not rushed—and the world-building was amazing. i loved how it mixed modern-day settings with mythological elements. the characters—gods and mortals—were great, and their relationships were developed really well. not to mention, the slow-burn romance with hades? i was hooked on every single moment between him and lyra.
speaking of lyra and hades, their romance was definitely one of the highlights. the tension between them added so much depth to the story and their characters. hades, despite all his power and control, shows vulnerability when it comes to lyra, and it made their dynamic even better. lyra, cursed to never be loved, struggles with her feelings for him, and watching that slow build felt natural and compelling. their chemistry was undeniable, and i can’t wait to see how their relationship grows in the next book.
lyra’s personal growth throughout the book was another major highlight. she starts off feeling trapped by her curse, but as the story progresses, you really see her develop into a strong, determined character. her relationships, especially with hades, play a major role in her evolution, and it was really satisfying to see her come into her own power. her journey wasn’t just about surviving the games, but also about figuring out who she is beyond her curse. by the end, she’s completely transformed, and i’m really excited to see where her story goes next.
even though i’m usually kinda over the whole “games and trials” thing, this book made it feel fresh. each trial was super creative, and i loved how the characters had to work together even though they were technically competing. the manipulation from the gods added a whole extra layer of tension, and it made the stakes feel so much higher. it wasn’t just about winning—it was about surviving, and that kept me hooked the whole time.
and then there’s the ending—completely insane. i wasn’t expecting this to be a series, but now i’m counting the days until the next book. the final twist threw me for a loop, and i’m so excited to see where the story goes from here. overall, the mix of action, mythology, romance, and humor totally hit the mark for me. honestly, i loved every part of this book....more

i absolutely loved this book. from start to finish, it was such a cute and fun read—definitely one of my favorites this year. the concept, plot, and characters were all super engaging, and the ghost aspect added a cool, spooky twist that i really enjoyed. the victorian elements throughout the story were also a big highlight for me.
that said, i have to admit, jade really annoyed me during her whole “dating” situation with brad. she made some seriously dumb decisions and wasn’t being a great friend, which was frustrating to read. she was an idiot for like half the book, and i had to really push past that to keep enjoying the story. but once i got over it, the rest of the book was just as fun as i hoped.
the plot was pretty predictable, but that didn’t take away from the overall experience. i do wish the ending hadn’t felt so abrupt—it felt like we finally got to the moment we were waiting for, only for it to end way too fast without seeing more. still, the journey was worth it, and i had such a great time reading this book!!...more

the sequel picks up right where the first book left off, and honestly, i enjoyed it even more this time around. the humor, quirky characters, and the mix of fantasy with office antics made it another super fun read. the plot gets more interesting as evie continues her journey from assistant to apprentice, and i found myself even more invested in her story. the world-building is still great, creating a fun but dangerous setting for everything.
the character development in this book was really enjoyable. evie's interactions with the villain were a highlight once again, and i loved seeing their relationship evolve. the romance is progressing in a way that feels natural and engaging, even with the occasional frustration when trystan tries to push evie away. despite those moments, the chemistry between them stayed strong, and it kept me wanting to see what happened next.
the stakes felt higher this time around, with magic and treachery making things feel more intense. the mix of tension and humor kept the story flowing, but the subplot with evie’s father still felt a little out of place and didn’t really fit in with the rest. still, it didn’t take away from how much i enjoyed the book. i’m definitely looking forward to seeing how things go in the next one!!

i’m completely in love with this series, and the second book did not disappoint. after the amazing experience with the first book, i had high expectations, and this one exceeded all of them. the plot, the concept, and especially the characters—all of it just got better.
this book picks up right where it left off, with everbound university on lockdown after the assassination attempt. the stakes are higher, the dangers are more intense, and maven’s journey becomes even more gripping. i was on the edge of my seat the entire time, watching maven navigate the increasing dangers around her while still struggling to keep her secrets hidden.
the characters really came into their own in this book. the dynamics between maven and the guys deepened, and i found myself even more invested in their relationships. each character brought something unique, and seeing how they started to figure maven out was so satisfying. the tension between them was so strong, and the more they revealed about themselves, the more i fell in love with their group.
there were moments of uncertainty at first, especially with how intense everything got, but those worries quickly faded as the story progressed. i couldn’t get enough of the action, the twists, and the growing connections between the characters. by the end, i was completely hooked and left wanting so much more.
i honestly don’t know how i’m going to last until the next book releases—i need more of this world and these characters asap!!

i absolutely loved this book. from start to finish, it had me completely hooked, and i couldn’t get enough of the plot, the characters, and the entire world morgan b. lee has created. it’s genuinely one of my favorite books i’ve read this year.
the concept of everbound university as a mandatory graduate school for the descendants of the four houses was fascinating. the idea that these legacies are cursed and must form a quintet to break their curses was such a cool twist on the story. i was insanely invested in the main character, maven, who’s anything but your typical legacy. her determination to stay unbound, even with all the dangers and powerful legacies she’s matched with, made her journey so fun to follow. i especially enjoyed how she rejected her matches, knowing full well the chaos it would cause, yet doing it with such calm confidence.
the characters were all so well-developed, each with their own unique traits and secrets. the cutthroat blood fae, the charming dragon shifter, the unhinged nightmare prince, and the overprotective ice elemental—each brought something different to the table, and watching their interactions with maven was a highlight. they all had their moments, but it was how they reacted to maven’s rejection that really showcased their personalities. i found myself rooting for them, even when they were clearly out of their depth trying to handle someone as fiercely independent as maven.
by the end, i was left wanting more. this book was such a good mix of tension, great characters, and a plot that kept me hooked. i’m already dying to read the next one!!

definitely one of my favorite reads this year!! the whole vibe of the book was dark and atmospheric, and i was hooked from the start. the concept of dracadia university on this creepy, haunted island was so insanely cool. the mix of gothic elements with the academic setting totally worked for me.
the noctisoma stuff? amazing. i couldn’t get enough of the way it tied into the story and the history of the island. it added this eerie layer that just kept building tension throughout the book.
and then there’s devryck, aka doctor death. i’ll be honest—i thought he was a total asshole at first, but he really grew on me. the whole professor-student relationship thing usually isn’t my thing, but in this book, it was done really well. their chemistry was intense, and it felt natural as their relationship developed.
the whole secret society aspect was really intriguing. i loved the idea of these hidden rituals and the sense that there was so much more happening beneath the surface. it added a layer of mystery that kept me guessing. i just wish we got to dive deeper into it because it felt like there was so much potential there. every time it came up, i was fully invested, so it would have been great to see more of how it all played out behind the scenes.
even with those little things, i loved this book. it’s dark, intense, and had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. the plot twists kept coming, and the atmosphere was perfect.
the story wrapped up in a way that left me completely satisfied, making it a book i’ll definitely remember....more

i had such a great time reading this book. it was the perfect blend of dark fantasy and humor, with a plot that really pulled me in. i waited weeks for this release and stayed up all night to devour it the moment it came out. the concept of a reimagined hercules in a titan-infested world with god-like spartans was so unique and refreshing, especially with the sarcastic tone that kept the story entertaining.
that said, i’ll admit i was worried at the beginning. the writing was rough, and i genuinely thought i wasn’t going to like it. but as the story progressed, it started to grow on me. by the time i was about 100 pages in, i was fully invested, and the writing no longer bothered me. it’s surprising how quickly my feelings changed once i got caught up in the story and characters.
speaking of characters, i didn’t like any of them at first, but they quickly grew on me. by the end, i found myself attached to all of them. the mix of terrifying mentors and professors brought out both fear and fascination, which added to the overall tension and excitement.
i also enjoyed the greek mythology elements woven throughout the story. with my background knowledge, it was a lot of fun picking up on the references and seeing how they were reimagined in this world.
i can’t wait for the next book in the series!! the story has so much potential, and i’m excited to see where it goes next....more

after devouring the first three books in one sleepless marathon, i can confidently say this one took things to a whole new level. the heirs are still major assholes, but the tables are turning even more, and it’s been incredibly satisfying watching them struggle. darius, in particular, is someone i’m trying really hard to hate, but he’s making it difficult, especially with how his dynamic with tory is evolving. the tension between them is off the charts, and i found myself rooting for them more than i’d like to admit.
darcy and orion’s relationship? still not a fan of the whole student-teacher thing, but i have to admit, it’s starting to grow on me. orion really shines in this book, and despite my reservations, i found myself liking him a lot. he’s definitely one of my favorites now, which i didn’t see coming.
seth was unexpectedly hilarious, and i’m reluctantly starting to like him, even though i don’t want to. caleb has his moments, especially with tory, though i know they’re not going to last. and max? well, he’s just kinda there.
the reckoning brought out the best and worst in everyone, and i loved every second of it. the twins, as always, steal the show. their bond and the way they handle everything thrown at them make this series what it is. watching them face off against the heirs and come out on top was so satisfying.
some of the scenes had me laughing out loud, especially anything involving orion’s classroom antics—seriously, he’s hilarious. the book is packed with tension, drama, and just the right amount of snark. it’s hands down my favorite in the series so far, and i’m already itching to dive into the next one.

a fitting conclusion to a series that’s been a fun ride from start to finish. while i didn’t enjoy this as much as the first book, which remains my favorite, it still delivered plenty of action and wrapped up the story nicely. penryn and raffe’s character growth throughout the trilogy really shines here, and it’s been rewarding to see how far they’ve come. i’m a little sad to see their journey end, especially after speeding through the entire series in just two days. it’s been a wild, action-packed ride from beginning to end!!

this book took everything i loved about the first one and turned it up. even though i knew parts of the plot going in, the story still kept me hooked with twists and surprises i didn’t see coming. kaz’s final plan to outsmart van eck was genius, and watching it all play out was so satisfying. the stakes were higher, the tension was intense, and the payoff hit even harder. the way the crew played off each other’s strengths and weaknesses was so well done—it made every part of the plot feel like it was building toward something big.
one of the best things about this book was how it handled the multiple povs. each character had their own distinct voice, and their personal journeys felt just as important as the main plot. no one got overshadowed, and every perspective added something to the story. kaz’s relentless drive for control, wylan’s clever problem-solving, jesper’s quick thinking, matthias’ honor and conflict, inej’s unwavering loyalty, and nina’s sharp resourcefulness all balanced out the crew. the heists were thrilling, but what made it even better was how each character had personal stakes in everything, so their wins and losses hit harder.
just when i thought i had things figured out, the book threw in twists that completely caught me off guard. the heists and schemes were so well thought out, and whenever something went wrong, the crew found a way to turn it around. the tension was nonstop, and every twist felt earned—like it fit perfectly with the crew’s skills and the obstacles they were up against. it made for such an exciting, unpredictable read that had me on edge the whole time.
the relationships between the characters were another huge part of what made this book so good. whether it was kaz and inej’s deepening trust, wylan and jesper’s growing bond, or nina and matthias’ shared moments of connection, every relationship felt real and earned. both the romantic and platonic dynamics in the crew were stronger this time, and it added a lot to their interactions, making the highs and lows hit even harder. as the stakes grew, their bonds got stronger, and none of the relationships felt rushed or forced.
what i really loved was how each character had their own sense of morality, but they still worked together toward a common goal. even with different motivations and values, their loyalty to each other kept them solid. loyalty and trust were such big themes, and they were woven into the story in a way that made every choice feel more meaningful.
the ending left me feeling both satisfied and a little bittersweet. while it wrapped everything up perfectly, it was tough to say goodbye to these characters and this world after spending so much time with them. the closure was handled so well, tying up loose ends but still leaving me wishing for more adventures with this crew. it was the perfect end to an amazing journey, but i wasn’t quite ready to let go. now, i’m already looking forward to reading king of scars and getting back into this world with nikolai.

after the rollercoaster that was the previous book, i dove into this one with a mix of excitement and dread. the story picks up immediately after that insane cliffhanger, and i was hooked from the very beginning. i’ve never been a fan of the amnesia trope, so it was frustrating to see evangeline revert to her naive ways.
apollo’s manipulation was beyond infuriating, and it only made me hate him more. evangeline not getting her memories back until halfway through was a drag, but when she finally did, it was like a floodgate of emotions opened up. the way her memories came rushing back, piece by piece, was both heartbreaking and beautiful, reminding me just how much i love her relationship with jacks.
speaking of jacks, he continues to be the shining star of this series. his complex, tormented character kept me glued to the pages, and i’m more obsessed with him than ever. the dynamic between him and evangeline has only gotten better, and their scenes together were electric. even though the story had its frustrating moments, the ending was so powerful that it left me in awe.
this series has been an incredible journey, and i’m actually sad it’s over. but if there’s one thing i’ve taken away from it, it’s my absolute love for jacks and the unforgettable tale he shared with evangeline.

i went into this book with high hopes after enjoying the first one, and i’m thrilled to say it absolutely delivered. this is, without a doubt, my favorite in the series so far. the pace was kinda fast at times, but the story was so engaging that i didn't mind much. jacks continues to be the standout character—somehow, i like him even more now, which i didn’t think was possible. his role in the story keeps getting better, and i couldn’t get enough of his interactions with evangeline. speaking of evangeline, she really grew on me in this book. she didn’t have much time to grow between books, but she felt more determined and capable this time around, which made me root for her even more. their dynamic and chemistry made every scene they shared together a highlight.

i knew this book had a reputation for being both beautiful and tragic, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how much it would wreck me. by the end, i was a complete mess. the mix of sadness and the love between patroclus and achilles hit me in a way few books ever have. i’ve felt emotional over books before, but nothing like this. even now, i can’t stop thinking about it, and the sadness still hasn’t faded.
patroclus’ journey was one of the most emotional parts for me. he starts off so isolated and overlooked, and watching him find friendship and love with achilles felt like seeing him finally come to life. their bond—full of trust, respect, and love—was unbreakable. i loved how they were everything to each other, and no matter what, they always had each other’s backs. those quiet moments when it was just the two of them, away from all the war and chaos, were some of my favorites. they were filled with so much tenderness that felt so real.
the prophecy over achilles hung like a dark cloud the whole time, but i still wasn’t ready for how it all went down. achilles’ pride—what made him a hero—also led to his downfall, and seeing how that affected his relationship with patroclus was just heartbreaking. i thought i was ready for the tragedy, but when patroclus died first, it totally blindsided me. i was expecting achilles to sacrifice himself for patroclus, but instead, we watch him unravel after patroclus is gone. those final scenes—achilles in grief, refusing to let go—were some of the hardest i’ve ever read. and then it just kept getting worse.
the gods, especially thetis, added so much tension. every time she showed up, i felt anxious, because her hate for patroclus and the way she pushed achilles toward his fate were constant threats. her influence was strong, but in the end, it was still achilles’ choices that led to the tragedy, and that’s what made it so hard to accept. even though you could see it coming, the way both patroclus and achilles went out was still devastating.
their love was the heart of the story, and it went way beyond just a romance. while achilles was all about how history would remember him, it was patroclus’ love and memory of him that really shaped his legacy. even after they were both gone, their love still echoed through the story. this book shows so beautifully how love can last beyond death, and you realize by the end that their relationship is what held everything together. that love is what sticks with you after it’s all over.
i read the book while listening to the audiobook, and while i’m not sure how much the audiobook changed the experience, it definitely made the emotions hit harder. the narration brought everything to life, but part of me wonders if reading it on its own would’ve felt different. either way, i don’t regret it—it just made the story feel even more personal.
this book was such an emotional rollercoaster, and it totally drained me. the characters, their love, and the way the tragedy unfolded had me hooked the whole way through. it’s the kind of story that sticks with you, making it hard to move on right away. even though it broke me, it was an unforgettable experience, and i wouldn’t change a thing....more

i had such an amazing time reading this series, and i’m honestly so sad it’s over. every book kept me hooked, and this final one was no exception. but seriously, the fact that the whole world almost ended because percy got a nosebleed? that is so insane and kinda hilarious in a twisted way. it’s kinda amazing how rick riordan can take something so small and turn it into a massive plot point.
now….. octavian. there’s no way around it, he’s the absolute worst. i genuinely don’t think i’ve ever hated a character more. every time he appeared, i just wanted to throw the book across the room. his actions throughout this entire series were infuriating and made my blood boil.
and then there’s leo’s “death.” what the hell was that? it left me in shock at first, but i totally called it that he was going back to calypso (who i still hate, by the way). that twist was a little heartbreaking at first and, in a weird way, satisfying because it showed just how much leo had grown, even if i’m not thrilled about who he ended up with.
even though it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to this incredible series, i’m excited that i’ll get to see these characters again when i dive into the sixth book of pjo and trials of apollo. this series has been an incredible journey, full of action, heart, and unforgettable moments, and i loved every single one of them!!!

the reunion between percy and annabeth in this book was everything i had been waiting for. after two books apart, finally seeing them back together was a dream come true. their bond is stronger than ever, and watching them team up with the others was so satisfying. the way they all worked together to unravel the mysteries of the prophecy of seven and face gaea’s forces made for some of the most thrilling moments in the series.
percy’s dynamic with jason was also a standout. it was interesting to see how these two leaders navigated their roles and learned to trust each other. their partnership added a lot of excitement to the story, and i loved every scene they shared.
