I love books about shifters and books about menage. Kryssa is a dragon-shifter, Xander is Fae and Caleb is a cross between an avian-shifter and a dragon-shifter. I had such high hopes for this since so many shifter books are about wolves, but this one just really fell flat for me. First of all, the sex scenes were really disappointing and fell flat. I don't know if they were meant to be PG-13 or what, but in the one (ONE!) and only menage scene, you can't even really tell if Caleb was involved other than holding Xander up. There were so many opportunities to have a great menage scene, like in the shower, the hot tub, the kitchen, the office, etc, but every single time either the phone rang or Kryssa walked away. I felt like I was missing like the wiki for Therians in this book because it seemed like the book just assumed that the reader GOT IT when talking about the food fascination, the Pleasure Bond, etcetera. I did not like Landon at all or the fact that they left what he said to her the night he proposed until the end. It just, to me, concentrated way too much on the shifters and not enough on the menage relationship. The concept was REALLY cool about the pastry cafe, but I almost think that this would have even been a better book if the shifter aspect was removed, Kryssa/Xander/Caleb were human, and there was a lot more sex in it. Highly disappointing. Apparently from reading the blurb at the end, this is pretty much what the author writes, so I doubt I'll be reading any more by Xakara. I will say that the descriptions of Kryssa in her various dragon forms were very beautiful and picturesque. I love dragons so it was easy for me to picture what she looked like with all the iridescence and twinkling.

I borrowed this with my Amazon Prime membership, I admit, pretty much solely based on the cover. I did not expect much. I was blown away by how great I borrowed this with my Amazon Prime membership, I admit, pretty much solely based on the cover. I did not expect much. I was blown away by how great this book was. Seriously, freaking, GREAT. The first 20% or so is rather depressing because these two characters are very, very tortured souls that have been through a lot in their lives and are trying to survive and come out on the other end. But it is absolutely amazing and both of them, for as little as they see of themselves, are amazing people who fortunately see the other as their soulmate. It's an incredible story. It is vanilla. No one is tied up, fucked in the butt or in a menage, so if you aren't in the mood for vanilla, pass. However, if you are in the mood for seriously hot vanilla with a smoking hot tattoo artist and a romantic sweet side that will make you just go AWWWW, this is a great read....more

I really expected a lot more out of this book with such a great plot description, and books about MMA fighters are traditionally very hot. This one was very hot, but the plot really fell short. There were just too many little things that were thrown in and then never followed up on. The whole "we're going to fight for you and the winner gets you" was a little too caveman-ish for me. I don't feel like Xavier really got a fair shot at all with this book and while Ryder is super-hot especially in Dom mode, it just felt like he didn't explain himself well. And what is with the anal with no lube!? Just didn't enjoy it...it felt very forced....more

I freaking LOVE books with alien erotica. I thought the whole plot with the Kadothians and the Hive was really cool, and the fact that they had a view of Jupiter was a little more...I don't know, real since it was in our galaxy for starters. It reminded me a lot of the Brides of the Kindred series by Evangeline Anderson. But I don't know...something about the hormones from the kiss seemed to really take that decision for Casey out of her hands, even though granted, she was really caught up by Lorn from the start. And I don't know what happened but when Nast came into the picture, it really started to fall flat for me. And I really anticipated more interaction with the Hive and there wasn't any. And no resolution to whoever messed up the pleasure 'bots. And I can't even express how dumb that story was that they made up to give her family. Maybe there will be more in the other books in the series, since I assume there will be more, but I hope the other ones are better. However, it was entertaining and the sex was hot and I loved the relationship between Lorn and Casey....more

This was a great anthology of stories written by the best writers of erotica in the business. There is definitely something for everyone in this one. MMF menage. MFM menage. BDSM. MF. Hotter than hell firefighters. Cowboys. Doms. Sex at the beach. What is wrong with any of that? Nothing in my book, if you pardon the pun! My favorite stories were the ones by Cherrie Lynn and Kristen Proby for sure, although the other three were enjoyable as well. This book definitely does not disappoint....more

This book was absolutely amazing. I loved it SO much. The alternating points of view were so great. COLLIN...good LORD, I want a firefighter like that just for five minutes. I loved Finnley's character. There was enough suspense, action and romance in this to make everyone happy...and the sex scenes were so freaking HOT.

I didn't like any of the characters in this book. Tilly, while she was really independent, just rubbed me the wrong way and it just seemed like she fell a little too fast for Landry. Cris...don't even get me started on how much I disliked him. Landry...slightly more likable, but for someone that claimed to love Cris so much, he sure did take a lot of pleasure in humiliating him and hurting him. I don't care for books with total power exchange in them and books that feature humiliation on every other page even less. Plus, it just was a little too convenient that Landry was so into Tilly when he is...gay. I just didn't enjoy this book and was relieved when it was over, although there were some sex scenes that were quite hot....more

HoweveNo question that this book definitely was needed as Ewan was one of the least talkative in the Guard and to hear his story told was incredible. However, he was a little...grouchy and sexist to say the least. However, it was quite entertaining to see him and Janet spar on a regular basis and their adventures through the Highlands. They definitely had chemistry, no question. I enjoyed reading it but it felt like the first half of the book dragged just a tad...almost like the author was trying to keep to a formula and was a little tired. But it was a nice solid read and I loved the ending. ...more

It starts out with an explanation of what we saw in the last book...why Saint tensed up when Templar's betrothal was mentioned. Yeah, because he hit Helen with a proposal and a run-away-with-me and give your family the finger and got pissed when she didn't give him a yes immediately. Mmmphm. What a stubborn Scot. But Helen, along with Bella in the last, is one of my favorite characters...just so cool how she gets involved and doesn't shy away from danger. Loved it and it was SOOO hot! All I know is that I was furiously Googling images of Bella in a cage and was totally caught up in the romance that developed (albeit against their wants) between these two strong independent characters. Bella is amazing...I have loved all of the Highland Guard wives to date, but I think Bella is my favorite so far. Just so daring and brave and strong. This was a great book and there is SO MUCH heat between her and Lachlan. It's incredible. Based on the glance we got of Erik "The Hawk" MacSorley in The Chief, I knew this book would be very interesting as we got a peek inside the laughter Based on the glance we got of Erik "The Hawk" MacSorley in The Chief, I knew this book would be very interesting as we got a peek inside the laughter and smiles that Erik puts on the outside. And it did not disappoint. There was plenty of laughter and smiles, but Ellie had a way of pulling out a more serious, intimate side of him. The intrigue and politics that were woven into the story as Robert the Bruce fought to overtake King Edward were done very smoothly and in a way that really brought the reality and gravity of the situation in without making it seem forced or boring. The romance that developed between Ellie and Hawk (both unknowing of who the other really is) was really hot and I loved all the plot elements with the swimming and boating. Great book and I am loving this series....more
