Jesse’s writing is totally absorbing with lots of metaphors, beautiful descriptions, and quirky characters. I felt like I was in a Wes Anderson film for a good portion.
Because we only get Jude’s POV, I couldn’t really get a handle on who Romeo was at first. He felt like this enigmatic thing, ever changing, because Jude only ever described him using metaphors and there was very little dialogue between the pair in the beginning. But as I got further into the story, that all changed. I let go and just enjoyed Jude’s perspective, his heartache and his passion. The second half became this rollercoaster of emotions, painful and steamy and so good! I loved getting Romeo’s side of the story.
I’m not sure the cheating trope is for me. It makes me extremely anxious, but I’m so glad I read this one....more

The descriptions, emotions, and stages of addiction and recovery were so well done. Gage’s cycles of cravings, guilt, and healing were all so realistic. The romance was cute and low-angst. Alexei’s optimism and determination felt like a perfect match for Gage.
But the therapy talk just got a bit excessive for me. It was tedious to wade through all the internal monologuing at times, that on top of the actual therapy appointments on page. It just felt like the characters over-analyzing every little detail and it was exhausting to read....more

It was captivating from the first page. I adore Sutton and Wren. They’re so good together—passionate and sweet. Their story has just the right amount of angst, with this underlying mystery that Briar Prescott has weaved through each book in this series. I love how she holds back and releases info slowly and meticulously. It keeps me turning pages and wanting more. I do think the ending came a bit abruptly. I wanted more of them together, happy and actively working on their relationship before the epilogue. But overall, a great addition to this awesome series. ...more

I liked Chase and Amos’s personalities and how they related to each other, all the sarcastic banter and the black cat/golden retriever vibes, plus the cuddly sweetness and spice. But the whole background plot of the reality show was cheesy, annoying, and felt rushed. It just didn’t feel like as much effort was put into this story as NR Walker usually puts in.

He’s like a cardboard cutout of a person with “cute freckles.” ...more

I hurt for him so much but it really became bizarre and unrealistic how many terrible things happened to him. We didn’t get enough of Ripley until later in the book, which was past the point of me caring. I just couldn’t like him. Also, this was 100 pages too long. The first 25% was boring and dragged, and the end was outrageously unrealistic. Overall, not Barbara’s best work....more

It’s so unique and the romance is so incredibly sweet with the perfect amount of toxic, jealous, obsessive/possessive tendencies to really stir shit up. I loved both Atticus and Reid, for very different reasons. There were definitely quite a few red flags between them but it all somehow came together and worked. Just a whirlwind of a book that keeps you on your toes with all the feels.
