It's a novella and while it had potential to be more, I think the author did a nice job with what she told in the length of the story, and Persephone's own actions (and reactions) I quite like how Persephone was willing to stand up for herself, and Hades' part in the pomegranate seeds agreement.
Overall, a fun novella which contains erotica so it's not for the kiddies. One thing I will say I disliked is how Persephone and Hades responded to Demeter's wrath causing the death of mortals, but then with this story's length, I can see why the author chose to not elaborate on this topic.
Recommended for people who like various retellings of the Hades and Persephone myth. 4.25/5 stars.

I also enjoyed her writing, there were parts of it that made me smile, her style is engaging as she gives you advice in your quest for love (or booty)
My only real complaint was that she thinks a bit of lying is okay, such as a woman lying about her age or a man lying about his height. I know it's common for people to fudge up personal details to make themselves look better and many don't see it as a big deal, but it just stuck in my craw. She was very firm on using up-to-date pictures, so a point for that.
Although I already said there is good advice in this book for all ages/both sexes, there are several points in this book that are geared towards mature women, and I also found them on-point, the author does a good job of explaining why certain points (such as finances) are important.
Overall it's a pretty good book, with well-organized chapters, and lots of great advice and some enjoyable bits of humor. I met my own fiance through online dating before I had this book, and it was nice to see that I had done plenty of things right that this book matched (but then, the results speak for themselves!) So even if you're not a mature older woman, there is still a lot of great advice that ca apply to anyone.

Ugh. This book started out with such promise, and a decent, realistic premise that seemed like this book would be much better than it actually was. A Ugh. This book started out with such promise, and a decent, realistic premise that seemed like this book would be much better than it actually was. A personal trainer has a chance meeting with a widow who overate to deal with her grief, and he offers to help her get her life back on track after a chat with her and seeing that she is a nice person who just chose an unfortunate way to deal with her grief. Nice when a relationship starts with the guy offering to help the girl with something instead of antagonizing her and being a jerk to her (which I see in too many romance novels)
However, as the relationship between Logan and Holly went on, it felt less and less real to me. Their reactions and thoughts were just... flat.
And don't even get me started on Amanda Walker. Tip to romance authors out there - the busybody who keeps butting into other people's affairs even after being told NOT to... (Chase Walker tells his wife to leave Logan and Holly alone, and Amanda's all like fuck off, I'll do whatever I want) is not an endearing character. Especially when they purposely flout their defiance to those who tell them to leave things alone!
I was absolutely appalled at Logan spanking Holly. For a personal trainer to celebrities, Logan honestly should have known better. Pulling Holly across his lap and giving her behind whacks (without her permission or foreknowledge on top of that) would have gotten anyone fired. Holly's own antagonistic behavior (Logan's excuse for assaulting her) was also weird and didn't make sense, I think the author was just looking for an excuse to write about him spanking her.
Logan's macho BS was just over the top. When Holly finds a job and gains some happiness from it, Logan shows up, tries to embarrass her in front of her co-workers/clients, and demands that she quit. And she does, with the stupid rationalization that since her job starts so early in the morning (opening a gym and working the front desk) that's going to cut in on her nights with him. Because apparently it's more important for Logan to have his nookie than for Holly to have a means of self-support as well as something that gets her out of the house and interacting with people, helping them, and making a difference in their lives.
The thing that made the most sense to me was Holly's backstory. It worked to explain Holly's initial situation, but I was severely, severely disappointed that she never confronted her parents on how she was treated. I would have very much rather seen Holly express her pent-up anger to her parents instead of pulling the asinine stunt she did at Chase and Amanda's party (which only made her look stupid, even more stupid than Logan)
Logan is also an idiot. Because apparently, women who wear pants sizes in the double digits are fat, even if said woman wears a size 10 or 12. Weight is not easy to maintain, much less lose, and for Logan and others to think Holly is still fat when she is at a healthy weight is just insulting to women who choose to not starve themselves into a size 0 or 2.
What was a promising premise turned out to be a whole bunch of fat-shaming as well as toxic masculinity....more

Beauty and the Beast is one of fairy tale's more familiar tales, given how often it has been retold, not just through children's books, but novelizations, TV shows, graphic novels, and movies.
Some versions of this tale might be objectionable, but compared to some of the other classical fairy tales, beauty and the Beast is, IMHO, relatively mild even though it has death and deceit in it....more

Overall I enjoyed this from the perspective of someone who likes trying out classic/acclaimed novels. I'm glad I didn't live in this era though, lol.
This deals with a lot of different things, like a disabled man finding new life/purpose after a life-changing injury suffered in WWI. This book was surprisingly forward for its time, and though I don't think this is one of the greatest novels, it's still a worthy read from a historical, literary, and mental/psychological perspective....more

Man, do IMoral - people (and animals) do really stupid things when they're in love, and sometimes this attraction can prove fatal for the smitten one.
Man, do I feel really bad for that poor lion, but I hate to admit it, it was pretty clever of the maid's father to demand that the lion let his teeth and claws be cut (or filed down, or removed, depending on the version) before the marriage would be allowed, and once the lion was without his teeth and claws, he's either beaten off or killed....more

I think some of the I write this as a huge/longtime fan of Hades and Persephone (and mythology in general) I am not a fan, or hater of this webcomic. I think some of the criticism this series has gotten is warranted, but not all of the hate. I honestly enjoyed some of the twists that the author made to the mythologies she incorporated into this work (plenty of Greek mythology references and side stories tied to those) and some of the panels and images are absolutely gorgeous and visual treats.
That said, the translation of webcomic to paper is not entirely successful and some of the pages don't look great and/or are hard to read, and the anatomy is really wonky in some places. All in all, this won't suit everyone, but I find it entertaining and creative in some parts....more

As a big sci-fi fan, I enjoyed that aspect of this story, though I will admit that I was curious about some of the dinosaur world, but as this is a work of erotica, there's more focus on the couple (yeah yeah, I'm a geek, lol)
One thing I found to be an unexpected (but not unwelcome!) surprise is that the male lead has two penises. That's not something I see (much less read about) often in porn, so if double-dongs are your thing, give this book a try. And even if it's not, still, give this story a try if you like dinosaurs and erotica and science fiction all wrapped in one.
The information is a little sketchy at first, but the author does a decent job of worldbuilding and by alternating between the perspectives of the King and his mate, we get a good picture of the situation and how they feel/respond to one another and the situation in general, especially with how they meet one another in the first place.
The sex scenes themselves were pretty darn enjoyable, especially with the aforementioned double feature ;) Overall it's a solid work of erotica for the introduction of a world/series of sexy dinosaurs. 4.5/5 stars....more

There's an occasional jab at the genre, but not quite nearly enough to make this a real satire, and honestly, I'm not quite sure these jabs were actually intentional, or just the author slipping up on anachronism.
The book reads like something set in the 19th century (which seems to be the most popular century for Harlequin-type romances in my reading experience) but the cover shows the woman very clearly in 20th-century attire. WTF.
There's also an over-use of metaphors and purple prose. Generally, I don't read Harlequin novels as romance is not my favorite genre, but this was just so over-wrought in a bad way that I had to wonder what was even the point of this. What was KFC thinking with this book? Who approved this book? Why didn't it have KFC in it??? (compared to an actual Harlequin book, this was pretty meh, so it's not even good as a straight-up Harlequin!)
This book had so much potental as a comedy/tongue-in-cheek/satire/KFC promotion and it failed miserably on all fronts....more

That was boring as fuck.
Now, I'll admit that I don't normally read 'light' or 'sweet' books. This book was a Little Free Library find, and it is not my first Sparks book - I read 'At First Sight' (a hand-me-down from a former coworker) and found it to be trite and watered-down pap. But I'd heard plenty enough about the Notebook, not to mention that it was turned into a movie (haven't seen the movie) so thought I'd give Sparks another try. This book HAD to be better, right? Uh, no.
And this book was boring AF. I have a relative who had Alzheimer's, so it's not like I couldn't sympathize with the main character, but the book was fucking dull.
After two books from Sparks, I likely will never read anything else from him....more
