I love this series so much, I'd heard a lot of mixed reviews of the sequel and it scared me, to be honest. I loved the first book so much, it's richness of world building and the fun and lively cast of characters but I honestly don't think Brigid let me down with this sequel at all. Lia Mara was an incredibly strong and intelligent character who showed a lot of vulnerability, which I think Brigid does well in her novels. I loved the budding relationships between Lia Mara and Grey and while this book did lack Harper (I will do anything for that Queen) I don't think it took anything away from what I'm imaging an insane conclusion.

Writing a book about an Aro-Ace main character is It’s 2am and I’m completely enamoured with this book. Alice Oseman really moved me with this story. Writing a book about an Aro-Ace main character is a bold move, it’s a term that very much exists, that’s also completely overlooked, even by a large part of the LGBTQ+ community.
I’m not Aro-Ace, so I’m unable to comment on how well Georgia’s journey was presented, however, I will say that there’s more than one was to be Aro-Ace, just like there’s more than one way to be Queer, to be Transgender, to be Non-binary. No two people share the same journey. Our journeys are our own. They’re special and unique and make us who we are. So if you’re feeling like this story didn’t represent your own journey of being Aro-Ace then that’s completely valid, however, you also have to realise that Georgia’s journey could be someone else’s experience. That’s the true beauty of being our true selves.
I’m really happy that Alice wrote about the hate that comes from a marginalised part of our very own community. I’ve noticed so much internalised homophobia and transphobia from Cis gay men and women who think it’s their narrative or no ones. We praise about acceptance when really the LGBTQ+ community has so much work to do. Lloyd’s values are sadly a strong part of so many people and it needs to be stamped out.
In short, what I'm saying is that Alice Oseman has written an incredible novel that deserves to be read by everyone. I experienced so many emotions while reading and it left me feeling incredibly emotional....more

I was so hesitaI just want to start this review with some trigger warnings. This book deals with mental health, grief, death and attempt at self harm.
I was so hesitant to jump into Mason Deavers Sophmore novel. I loved I Wish You All the Best so much, as someone who identifies as Genderqueer, it means so much to me. It was the first book I read where I felt seen and understood. It's also a book I happily recommend to everyone.
However, The Ghosts We Keep did not disappoint.
I really related to Liam. When I was 12 years old I lost my Grandmother, who was basically my 2nd Mother. I never knew grief until then and it made me spiral out of control, I became someone I didn't recognise and this is exactly what happens with Liam. They don't understand how to process their feelings and emotions and it makes them do things that they usually wouldn't do. Grief is a complex thing.
Mason Deaver handled the topic of grief and mental health so well. I will happily recommend this one to people as well....more

I’m not going to lie, I had a few issues with this book. I loved the previous duology these authors co-authored, I loved how they wrote a gay relationship without stereotypes and didn't invalidate a bisexual person just for being in a gay relationship. However, Top Secret is not like that Duology. While I connected to the characters individually, I couldn’t feel a chemistry between them romantically....more

I’ve never read a graphic novel before this series so I wasn’t sure if I’d truly feel anything but there’s so many cute relatable situations in this piece of art. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the perspective of our four suspects and seeing how they all used this bad circumstance to become close friends. One of my favourite things about the book was the character development of Addy. At the beginning of the book she was incredible superficial and certainly not an enjoyable character but by the end I was fully rooting for her, she's a character not to judge. I definitely think that Karen has a niche for creatively writing mystery and suspense but also making it relatable. The investigation held by the police was so messy and I honestly believe that to be quite accurate. These days I find the Police force just try and get everything resolved quickly so they can move on from it all. It was recently announced that the book is set to be adapted for TV, which I think will do so well and I'm excited for the sequel that'll be released in 2020....more

I was at a hype of Becky albertalli but thinking it over this book wasn’t all that good. It felt forced and naive. There was no chemistry. ...more

I thoroughly enjoyed the romance between Tanner and Sebastian and it was interesting reading about Mormon culture since it's not something I am used to. This was my first Emery Lord novel and it certainly will not be my last. This book broke my heart, made me cry and then mended me all back together only to break my heart twice over. And I wouldn't have it any other way. Just a simply stunning novel of a girl finding herself amid a difficult circumstance while finding new friends and her faith.

The writing of the novel is well done, I liked the past and present storyline that is created. Adam really details the life Griffin had when him and Theo first got together, it was just a general cute story. However, the pacing was so slow. I don't know if it was intentional but it shouldn't taken someone a few days to read a book this short, especially a Contemporary. The one thing that I can praise Adam for was the representation of Griffin suffering with OCD, it was refreshing to see it not being generalised and I did feel for Griffin, because OCD isn't fully understood and can alter someone's reality so much, however, aside from the OCD, Griffin was an asshole. He wasn't a likable character. He was selfish, he cared for no one but himself, causing himself to really toy with people's emotions. I can understand that people may say that he's just human and we all make mistakes but you can't blame grief on being rude to the people who love you.
I was really hoping to see healthy relationships portrayed in the novel, especially as people had claimed it was one of the best LGBT YA books they have read, I just didn't agree with them. The relationships are toxic and certainly not healthy for anyone, let alone someone grieving. The wat Griffin used one of his friends who admitted he had feelings for him was so disgusting and low on so many forms and then the situation isn't dealt with in a manner that could be concluded. There's no progress in the book; Griffin started out as a selfish person and ends as that same person.
Overall, I was just left with a bad taste in my mouth and I'm not sure I'll read another Adam Silvera book. ...more

Honestly there's both a lot of positive and negatives for this book. Beast tells the story of an ever growing 15 year old guy called Dylan who ends up falling for a girl who happens to be Transgender. Essentially I knew it was going to be just a little like every other YA contemporary book I've read; and I was right. Both Dylan and Jamie were naïve to the point where I felt like they were going two steps forward a hundred steps back the entire novel. Dylan was forever looking for a sign that was never going to come hurting Jamie in the process. The sad thing is that I don't think issues for Transgender people were represented in the best way possible. That's not me saying they were highlighted in a bad light, because I'm not. I just think the author could have spent a few more weeks researching into those specific deadly issues.
And while this has mainly been filled were negatives I did enjoy the book. The writing was nice, easy to follow and told the story greatly. I loved how Dylan's mother was so open into learning about different genders and sexual identities because I know hands on how many LGBT people don't get that. I also appreciated both characters on their own, aside their naivety. I really related to Jamie and her want to just be accepted as a girl, not a girl with a penis. I also loved how Dylan had a strong personality among his insecurities.
Really this was just a nice stepping stone for people who'd like to learn a little more about Transgender people....more
