Widower Lark accepts a new job in Ireland and ends up neighbours with the local funeral home, owned by the shy and introverted Callum. Callum has a slight predicament; he can only keep the family business if he marries by the age of 35 which is only a couple of months away. Lark and Callum become friends and as their friendship grows, so does their attraction.
I adored every single thing about this book. The plot, the writing, the pacing and the characters. Callum was just such a fun and lovable MMC, and I loved the banter between our main characters. Morbidly Yours is full of heart and grief, with a dash of humour. Lark made me want to strangle her and hug her.
Would recommend this book if you're looking for a contemporary romance to help you out of your slump! I already want to reread this one. ...more

Beth is an unemployed nanny when her three gorgeous neighbours have a baby dropped off at their door, and they're not sure which one is the baby daddy. Beth meets Jack (the nerdy gamer), Cyrus (the dirty dancing stripper) and Sebastian (grumpy business man). The three of them employ her to look after the baby.
I loved Beth's relationship with each of the guys and the author made it feel super organic. Beth is just a FMC I want to wrap in a blanket and hold her. Her trauma is so beautifully written and I practically sobbed when she was rejected by her mum and grandmother.

I'm glad I read this book on Kindle Unlimited because this would have been a one star if I'd actually paid for it.
I want to start this of by saying I love Ana Huang's writing style. I loved her Twisted Series, except Twisted Hate - you know what you did, Josh - and I was very excited for this book. It had everything I love in a romance book.
Book 1 starts with the 'King of Wrath'. I expected fireworks and something truly amazing (perhaps some wrath) but was handed a repackaged Twisted Love, but without the lovable FMC and interesting MMC. 'King of Wrath' must be in another book, because it's definitely not the scowling and boring Dante Russo.
Positives: - The side characters - the only thing that saved this book in my opinion. It's bad when your side characters have more personality that your two main characters. However, this book has made me extremely excited to read Kai's story (King of Pride).
- The writing - Ana Huang has a writing style that is incredibly easy to read and lose yourself in, and I can't fault her here.
Negatives: - The plot - the plot for this book screamed "I used up all my good ideas in the Twisted series and have nothing left". Ana Huang is such a good writer but the plot was basic, predictable and boring. I don't mind a basic plot, but you need main characters with a personality to make up for this.
- Dante Russo - a repackaged Alex Volkov from Twisted Love, but with no personality or a single positive trait in sight. I felt like we were being told that Dante was a good person rather than being shown this, which made it harder to connect to him. I literally could not have cared less about Dante and if he'd died suddenly, I probably would have given the book four stars.
- Vivian Lau - I liked Ava Chen in Twisted Love, but Vivian felt like a hollow version of her. Her lack of personality was evident when we met her friends Sloane and Isabella, who were both phenomenal characters. I truly hope we gets books from them both.
- The break-up & reconciliation - the break-up made sense and we all knew it was coming. However, it got to the point that the reconciliation was dragged out for no reason. Maybe it's my strong dislike for our FMC but it just felt like she pouting because she could, and it seemed like she was mad at the wrong person at times. I would have loved for more communication between the two regarding the situation they were put in, since they were both 'stuck' in this arranged marriage with Dante being blackmailed.
- Dante & Viv - they do not make sense as a couple. The only thing that had as a couple was sexual tension, nothing else. For me to enjoy a romance, it has to be more than sex and chemistry, and unfortunately that's all this was.
- The sex scenes - shockingly bad, especially from our King of Wrath. Watching paint dry would be more enjoyable than Dante in the bedroom. This is probably down to Dante not having a single interesting personality trait!
Would I re-read this book? No.

Sadie was such a fun character and I loved how she brought out a naughty side in Holden. Easily my favourite couple of the series so far and their chemistry was amazing.
I will say, the third-act break-up was frustrating and it felt really unnecessary for the story. Would loved to have seen them work through Sadie's commitment issues rather than use it as a tool to force them apart for the last 10% of the book.
Can't wait for Finn x Olivia's story. The hints throughout the series have me rushing to read book 4!

What a fabulous start to the Rose Hill Series! Ford x Rosie were perfect. PERFECT!
This is probably one of the easiest 5 stars I've given for a while.
There's something about a socially awkward MMC who also acts like a complete DADDY that just hits right. I adored everything about him, and his relationship with his daughter was adorable. Elsie Silver writes the best MMC's.
Rosie was hilarious and knew how to put Ford in his place! She is the perfect love interest for Ford, and their banter was so clever and enjoyable. Elsie managed to write dialogue that didn't feel overly mean, and held a lot of sexual tension.
The side characters were brilliant, the bowling team especially, and you also get to meet the MMC for book 2. The sneak peak had me kicking my feet in excitement, and I cannot wait for Wild Eyes. However, the best character was Ford's daughter, our little storm cloud. I won't say too much but I fell in love with her so quickly!
Whilst the storyline was basic, I really didn't mind (or notice that much) because the characters were so enjoyable! I feel like I could talk about the banter between Rosie and Ford all day, but Elsie Silver really outdid herself with this one. I loved having two characters that matched each other's energy perfectly, whilst being complete opposites. The work emails between the two of them had me cackling. Plus, the smutty scenes were *insert fire emoji*. DADDY FORD CERTAINLY HAS A WAY WITH WORDS... and pens!

The book lost one star because I found everything a little too predictable, and I wish there'd been a bit more angst between our FMC and MMC. But I definitely will be reading on in the series because I adore interconnected standalones!

Ada is not interested in settling down any time soon. She's recently divorced and hoping to develop her career as an interior designer so when her college friend offers her a job opportunity, she jumps at the chance. Except when she arrives at the ranch, she discovers her boss Wes is none other than the cowboy she got a little frisky with in the dive bar the night before.
Wes is golden-retriever energy through and through. I adored him in book 2 and was excited to read his story. Ada is a bit of grump who wants to get the job done, but can't deny there's a connection between her and Wes. I adored Ada and I loved watching her develop friendships with the other women in this book! And I loved seeing bits and pieces of Brooks & Emmy!

I was both excited and anxious for this book.
I loved Gus and Teddy the moment they started arguing with each other in book 1, and I needed their story to be perfect. AND LYLA SAGE DELIVERED.
A single dad x nanny romance was the perfect story for them. The plot, the development, the tension was so well-done and you can see the growth in Lyla Sage's writing. This is definitely her strongest book to-date.
Gus x Teddy have to be my favourite in the series and Lyla has set the scene for book 4 perfectly. I am beyond excited for Dusty x Cam's book.

Josephine Doyle is Wells Whitaker's no. 1 fan, even though he's currently going through a rough patch. He was once golf's rising star but he's self-destructing and taking every one down with him including ripping up Josephine's sign and sending her home. After a storm destroys Josephine's family business, Wells approaches her with an offer... Caddy for him and they'll split the prize money.
I had some apprehension going into this book, particularly around Josephine being a fangirl and how that would be represented. But Tessa wrote Josephine's character so beautifully and I absolutely adored her. Wells was the biggest arsehole at times but secretly a big softie which I adore.
I loved the storyline, the pacing and the writing. I've adored Tessa Bailey's book in the past and this is definitely one of my favourites. I'm excited for book 2 in the series, as we've already been introduced to the characters and includes my favourite trope - single dad x nanny.

'The Darkest Corner of the Heart' follows the younger sister of Sammy/Cal from book 1.
I really enjoyed Maddie's story, who we initially met in book 1 as an adorable 4 year old who loved ballet. Maddie is 21 years old and is days away from 'the big ballet' audition when she injures herself during practice. Her brother Sammy seeks out the best physiotherapist in the area which is where we meet James, our grumpy MMC.
Maddie and James are such a sweet couple and I really enjoyed how their relationship progressed. I did become slightly frustrated with how obsessive James was with the age-gap between them (10 years), and I felt his reasons for worrying didn't warrant how much he kept bringing it up. However, they were so cute together that it didn't ruin the book for me. The smut was also very well written and I need James to call me a 'good girl' and pull my hair.
There's just something about grumpy men who are completely soft for their girls that just has me... *dramatically sighs and clutches heart*. I also loved the snippets of Grace & Cal, and what they've been up to over the last 17 years. Those two truly have my whole entire heart!
This book touches on some sensitive topics and I thought the author handled them beautifully. I loved seeing Cal's and Maddie's mum, and her journey around alcoholism. It is not the most satisfying ending but it does the character justice.
The four stars is because I did find the beginning both slow and rushed, but I adore the world that Lisina Coney has created. Excited to see what else she writes and I hope this isn't the last we see of these characters!

Bree's writing style and I love theThis was one of my most anticipated releases of the year and I'm really sad to say I am disappointed. I do love J. Bree's writing style and I love the world she has created.
However, there were so many issues with this book that I just can't ignore.
My biggest one is the ending which was clearly added in last minute. (view spoiler)[ Pemba being dead for the last 5 years (hide spoiler)] made absolutely no sense. J. Bree gave us teasers that featured the character in her newsletter, and book 1 refers to him in the present tense. I love a bit of cheeky foreshadowing but this was added in to shock the readers. The ending felt rushed and parts of it made no sense to me despite re-reading several times. All the stuff with the reborn witches and Baylor... I'm still not sure I understand what happened.
The last 20% of this book needs some heavy editing, it feels incredibly messy compared to the first half of this book.
BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY...
SOREN DID NOT SPEND ONE PAGE IN THIS BOOK ON HIS KNEES BEGGING ROOKE TO FORGIVE HIM.
Where was the grovelling we were promised? If I had to read the words snarled or growled one more time, I was going to throw my kindle across the room. That man should have been kissing Rooke's feet but instead we got some random humping halfway through the book, that felt like it came out of nowhere. The relationship development was all over the place and I only started to like Rooke and Soren together in maybe the last 15% of the book. I do hope Soren develops a personality in book 3.
I also felt like I had no sense of time in this world. Rooke x Soren just seemed to be heading to different forests and waiting to marry during winter solstice, but we the readers had no idea if that was a few days, weeks or even months away. We were more than 50% through the book and suddenly winter solstice was upon us.
Our goblin prince Gage has a mate and I was so excited to delve in this. They go into enemy territory for her and yet... barely anything happens. Gage didn't even seem that bothered himself. I really felt a Gage PoV would have helped this book. I did love the storyline with Thea x Tauron and I can't wait for more of them in the next book. I feel like Thea is going to be incredibly important to the storyline and I absolutely adore her.
Now, I usually give indie authors some grace with editing errors but due to this book being delayed, and one of the reasons readers were given was that it was going through another round of editing, I can't ignore some of the glaringly obvious mistakes in this book. The book shifts PoV (sometimes in the same sentence), as well as switching from first to third person. "Magic Sauce" did make me laugh but whoever was paid to edit this book... let's just say J. Bree was ripped off.
I'm hopeful that book 2 fell into the 'book-2-plot-bridge-trap' and that book 3 will tie this series up in a neat little bow....more

Not the best ending to the 'Heartsong' duology!
This book was missing the angst and tension that we had in book one and this one just fell a little flat for me.
A lot of the issues could have been resolved quickly if Lucy and Cal spoke to each other without trying to protect each other's feelings, which ultimately made everything worse. Cal also just felt like a completely different character, and I hated that he couldn't see that his actions were more harmful to Lucy.
I also felt like we lost a lot of the side characters that made book one so enjoyable! Would love to have seen more of Alyssa and Dante.
I'm pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this book!

Lucy reconnects with her childhood crush Cal by applying for a job at his auto shop. Cal is no longer the young boy that Lucy knew as a child. He's cold, grumpy and a bit of a loner, and he's still not moved on from the death of his baby sister and Lucy's childhood best friend Emma.
There is a lot of mystery around Emma's death which definitely kept me interested in the book, plus Lucy & Cal both have secrets they are keeping from each other. I did find Lucy a bit annoying at times but overall, she was a fun character to follow. Some of the reasons behind her decisions made me want to roll my eyes but overall, this is a very cute read!
This book is full of angst and tension, so get ready to dive into book 2 immediately! The ending had me grabbing the second book before I'd even closed book one.
