Lemme just start this by saying that is definitely NOT the book's fault. In fact, the little I did read was actually really interesting and a great start to the book. HOWEVER, I have discovered that this series is definitely one I have to be in the right mood for. And I am definitely not in that mood right now.
I will always rely on this series for books with creepy, atmospheric vibes and a focus on plot, instead of characters, but rn I'm most definitely in the mood for either a contemporary/rom-com OR a light, fun fantasy book. So, yep, definitely not in the right headspace to read this.
I'm kinda embarrassed for DNFing this so early, but I've felt a reading slump creeping up on me for weeks now and I DO NOT want this to be the book to finally cause that.
So, anyway, definitely a mood issue for this one, but I'll definitely come back and pick it up again in the future! ... eventually. When I'm back in the mood for some creepy horror vibes, I'll retry this but for now I'm gonna move onto something else. :)...more

Putting this one aside for now because I'm just really not feeling it. Something about the plot really isn't grabbing me and I'm seriously struggling to connect to any of the characters. The author's writing style also just doesn't have that lovely readable quality that it did in the Boneless Mercies and I don't think I can force myself through.
I might try it again in the future, but for now I'm gonna move onto something else.
