I was excited that this was in Ella's perspective, along with the perspective of the serious and handsome Lord Cayton and a Russian ballerina Kira Belova. I laughed like a moron several times because of Ella's humor and optimism. I can relate to her, except for the optimism....more

The suspense, the mystery, and the romance was all there and I can't wait to read the sequel! The plot was on point with its who-dunn-it twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters were well-developed and actually grew as the climax did, which is great because we all know no one is perfect and growth is a natural part of life if we want to have a happy and/or successful one. Relatability is key to a great story, in my opinion, in character, if not, in the plot and setting. The humor, faith-elements like trusting in God and His perfect will, and emotion in the story pulled on my heartstrings. Not to mention, I got a somewhat satisfactory ending. But hopefully my worries will be put to rest in the second novel. ...more

Mystery, suspense, and tragedy cause fear and anxiety in their lives as secrets unfold, dots are connected, and hope is offered...if they accept it. With the help of friends and handsome, charming young men, the two women learn to live, love, and have faith in not only themselves, but in God, who made it possible for their journeys to interweave one another's and bring healing for all those involved.
What a book! I absolutely loved it! The mystery, romance, and faith elements were all there, thriving and keeping me on the edge of my seat. Hope and faith are such powerful virtues that bring life to a soul that is exhausted, depressed, and/or dying. This story shows how necessary they are for life to be truly lived. Jamie Jo Wright is such a talented and terrific writer and I am so glad she wrote this book to bring awareness to human trafficking and how it affects those involved. It is an issue that needs to be talked about and addressed so we can be moved and convicted to do something about it. May God help us. ...more
I am a BIG fan of mystery novels, so this was a treat! So much so I am rereading it! Although I am not wholly familiar with Carrie Stuart Park's work I am a BIG fan of mystery novels, so this was a treat! So much so I am rereading it! Although I am not wholly familiar with Carrie Stuart Park's work (having read only book 1 of the Gwen Marcey series), her writing style, humor, and overall storyline are descriptive, entertaining, and suspenseful. It didn't take me long to pick up this book again and devour this mystery! If you are looking for a mind-boggling mystery that will keep you guessing about whodunnit even after you put the book down, I wouldn't necessarily say this book is for you because you will be slightly disappointed. However, I will say that if you want something not too startling and amusing but addresses the need for God AND it is a head-scratching mystery; this book is for you. Not to mention the romance and information about dogs are included, which is a plus for me. Carrie Stuart Parks' works are a definite keeper in my library. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Happy Reading!...more
