Все это плохо, а особенно - бабы. Так никакого будущего не видать.
Что делать: не воевать, не добывать уголь, не писать пьес и абстрактных картин; бегать голышом под дождем, сексом не только заниматься, но и разговаривать о нем три раза в день после еды, а мужчинам, напоминаю, всем надеть красные штаны в обтяжку. Женщинам - перестать рассуждать; на примере главной героини совет выглядит особенно полезным. Господи, какая же эта леди Чаттерли, пользуясь лоуренсовской терминологией, ТП! "Тебя что, не волнует будущее?! - Очень волнует. А у тебя волосы везде разного цвета." Получается, что не трахают тетку - она страдает и томится, трахают - она только и способна, что собирать незабудки и совать их куда попало. Да, не забывать наслаждаться природой! Природа и молодые фазанята всех спасут, если только их не перестреляют толстобрюхие аристократы.
Хочется, в общем, верить, что после публикации этого милейшего бастарда романа-рассуждения, пасторали и порнографических картинок у господина Лоуренса все-таки наладилась интимная жизнь.

Итак, Школа американского балета в Нью-Йорке. Ученики готовятся к зимнему показу «Щелкунчика».
Главные действующие лица:
ДЖИДЖИ, она же Жизель, единственная чернокожая танцовщица в школе. Жизель занималась в кружке в Калифорнии и, приехав в НЙ, сразу заполучила роль Sugar Plum Fairy (главная роль в американском Щелкунчике), потому что она, видите ли, luminous. Джиджи милейший нежный котик. У нее лучшие подъемы и арабески. И она единственная из всех учеников здоровается с вахтером! НО еще у нее ужасный ПОРОК СЕРДЦА, и мама постоянно говорит ей, доченька, не перетрудись, береги себя, вот тебе пульсометр. Джиджи отважно засовывает пульсометр в дальний ящик стола и по ночам танцует в зале в подвале. That’s how dedicated she is!
БЕТ, белобрысая сучка, похожая на балерину из музыкальной шкатулки. До Джиджи все ведущие роли (как мы узнаем чуть позже, нынешние 16летние дети в прошлом показывали и Дон Кихота, и ЛО, и вот разве что до Раймонды не добрались). Старшая сестра Бет — солистка АБТ и танцует ВОСЕМЬ спектаклей в сезоне, где у нее главная роль! ВОСЕМЬ! Бет об этом только мечтать. Бет мстительная, гадкая сволочь; носит на шее кулон с колесами, которые помогают ей классно танцевать, и держит всех учеников школы у себя под каблуком.
АЛЕК, белобрысый прекрасный принц, soon-to-be-ex бойфренд Бет. Папа Алека — председатель попечительского совета школы. Алек красивый, добрый, делает из оригами цветочки, как научила его японская няня. Не понятно, какого хрена от потратил лучшие годы жизи на Бет, но с появлением Джиджи он осознал наконец свою ошибку и предложил Бет остаться друзьями (сделав это на сцене театра).
ДЖУН, корейская сучка, которую мама-перфекционистка грозится забрать из школы, если та не получит нормальные роли вместо дублерши Sugar Plum. Джун не знает своего отца; известно только, что из-за внезапно беременности ее подающая надежды мама вынуждена была бросить балет, а папаша сказал — я дам денег, а видеть вас обеих не желаю. Есть подозрение, что ее отец — блондин.
Прочие: УИЛЛ, лучший друг Бет и Алека, вероятно, гей и завистник.
АНРИ, мальчик из школы Опера де Пари, тоже завистник, еще и по-английски фигово говорит.
ЛИЗ, анорексичка.
ЭЛИНОР, добрая душа с булимией.
ЕЩЕ ОДНА корейская сучка.
КЭССИ, бывшая лучшая балерина школы, которую в прошлом сезоне так удачно уронили на генеральной репетиции, что она сломала ногу и отправилась в рихаб с нервным срывом.
РУССКИЙ директор школы, который пристает к воспитанницам и (по мнению одной из чтиц аудиокниги) коверкает английские слова.
МНОГО АМБИЦИОЗНЫХ РОДИТЕЛЕЙ.
*** Я даже не буду говорить про балетные нелепости этой книжки (да-да, стекло в пуантах есть, не волнуйтесь), просто скажу, что это самый гормональных из янг-эдалтов, которые я прочла за последнее время. Этакая «Школа в Ласковой Долине», умноженная на десять и присыпанная балетом. Более того, одной книжкой авторицы не ограничились! Поэтому если душа требует ЛЮБОВЬ И КРОВЬ И ЩЕЛКУНЧИКА, читайте или смотрите смело, точно не разочаруетесь....more

Книга Лифаря были выпущены на русском языке в Париже в 1939 году. Первую часть, "Дягилев", я сознательно читать не стала, только что изучив подробную и довольно бесстрастную биографию авторства историка Схейена, общая картина мне была понятна. Биографию импресарио на подписью его последнего фаворита надо читать с карандашом и перекрестно сверять с другими источниками, а такой задачи или желания сейчас у меня не было.
Другое дело — Дягилев и я. Это уже портрет Лифаря — каким он был или, по крайней мере, хотел казаться, и вот эта, "авторизованная" биография, уже очень антропологически интересна.
Приехал в Сезоны вместе с парой товарищей по несчастью по приглашению Нижинской. Вот как проходил первый смотр: «И действительно, хотя прыжки моих товарищей через столики были скорее спортивные, чем балетные, и немного тяжеловаты, но, как начало, как базу, их нельзя было назвать безнадежными. Дягилев наблюдал их без одобрения, но уже не мрачнел и не бледнел, как в первый раз. Настал мой черед. По-видимому, я прыгал лучше своих товарищей, легче, пластичнее, без напряжения, ибо лицо Дягилева прояснилось, а в глазах его вспыхнули одобрительные искорки... Подумав, он сказал: — Все-таки я отправил бы их всех в Киев, но мне жаль этого мальчика, тем более что из него выйдет несомненный толк. Он будет танцором.»
Сразу пошли репетиции: «На репетициях «Свадебки» постоянно присутствовал её автор — Игорь Стравинский, и не просто присутствовал, а принимал горячее участие: вначале он только делал указания, сердился, жестикулировал, потом входил в азарт, снимал пиджак, садился на место пианиста — передавал симфоническую звучность балета, пел в каком-то исступлении ужасным голосом, но так убедительно, что в этом не было ничего комического, и играл до изнеможения. Под его исступленную игру все уже не репетировали, а по-настоящему танцевали; часто его игру сменяла пианола с катушками балета. После репетиции он надевал пиджак, поднимал воротник и каким-то слабеньким, щупленьким уходил в бар.»
Жил небогато: «Мне приходилось жить очень скромно, так скромно, что я не мог позволить себе курить больше чем по половине папиросы после каждой еды (...) Мы, «мальчики» труппы, имели особую форму: чёрные штаны с пятью пуговицами по бокам у колен, вроде бриджевых, белые рубашки с засученными рукавами, белые чулки и чёрные туфли (туфли, хоть и не совсем регулярно, выдавались администрацией раз в две недели).»
"Сергей Павлович" проявляет первый интерес, но Лифарь — кремень, пускай и дрожащий: «— Прекрасно, Лифарь, зайдите ко мне завтра, я вам дам программу. Сам не знаю почему, к Дягилеву я не пошел... Сергей Павлович часто впоследствии вспоминал и говорил: — Почему ты не пришел тогда за программой! Все было бы иначе, и ты не потерял бы напрасно год!»
(то есть нет ручек — нет и печенья, то есть ролей и протекции; Харви, машем тебе рукой)
Пока Дягилев охвачен волнением страсти, юношу терзает культурный голод: «Я, тогдашний, был обуреваем настоящей страстью развития и, как только мы приезжали в какой-нибудь новый город, тотчас же отправлялся в музеи.» (какая зайка!)
«Дягилев недоумевал: Кохно и Долина привел в музей он, а этот мальчик из кордебалета сам, по собственному побуждению, один ходит по музеям и старается что-то понять...» (вот уж действительно, все сам, все сам)
Отправили пацана шлифоваться к Чеккетти: «В Чеккетти было мало общей культуры, он ничем не интересовался, кроме балета и своего огородика, но о танце у него были свои выношенные мысли.»
Предложили поставить балет, но он отказался, но совсем не потому, что таланта не было, напротив: «(...) были вызваны совсем не тем, что я стал охладевать к хореографической работе-творчеству, а скорее обратным — боязнью так уйти в эту новую область, что отстать от танца в самом начале моей танцевальной карьеры. Поэтому я стал уговаривать Сергея Павловича помириться с Мясиным и снова пригласить его в Русский балет.»
Служба артиста балета опасна и трудна: «На одном из спектаклей «Лебединого озера», который я танцевал с Даниловой, со мной едва не произошла катастрофа. В ожидании своего выхода я находился за кулисами и вместе с Баланчиным делал какие-то па; неосторожный прыжок — и я со всей силы ударяюсь головой о бетонный потолок (к счастью, я был уже в парике); кровь полилась из головы, и я почти потерял сознание. Не понимаю, как у меня хватило силы выйти на сцену и — в крови и со страшной болью — протанцевать свою вариацию. После спектакля меня отвезли в госпиталь, там сделали небольшую операцию, и я несколько дней пролежал дома...»
Однако артист великодушен и очарователен: «Выдвинувшись из кордебалета и став первым танцором, я не отвернулся от труппы, не стал относиться свысока, а постарался изменить отношение к кордебалету и премьеров, и самого Дягилева.»
Далее мы узнаем о разных привычках С.П. и ласковых прозвищах, используемых в "семье" Сержа и Сергея Павловича, всячески "котушки", "коти" и "спасибушки" льются елеем через край.
Миниатюра "Дягилев получает посылку с книгами", узнали себя? «Получение пакета с книгами, в особенности с давно жданными книгами, стало событием едва ли не более важным, чем балетная премьера: Сергей Павлович радостно нервничает, распаковывая пакет и вынимая одну книжку — одно сокровище — за другой...»
Вот прелюбопытное о том, что уже сто лет назад нельзя было в лицо сказать соратникам/конкурентам/коллегам по цеху, что их новый спектакль не алё: «Успех, хотя театр был полон, напоминал салон, в котором уважаемое лицо испортило воздух — все делали вид, что ничего такого не заметили, и два раза вызывали Стравинского.»
В общем, воспоминания, как видите, прелюбопытные, хоть и наверняка наполовину вранье. Больше всего меня задело простое и, кажется, очень правдивое описание болезни и смерти Дягилева: нигде, например, до этого не читала про вставную челюсть великого импресарио, а тон автора в этой главке становится трагическим и спокойным.

Вероятно, секрет в том, что Долецкая читает, будто травит байки в кругу друзей. Режиссеры звукозаписи утверждают, что так оно и было; для достоверности иногда слышится звон бокалов и чей-то смех. Чтица запинается, начинает заново и добавляет некоторые подробности, которых "в книге нет".
Это не просто собранье лучших текстов Долецкой-журналистки разных лет (хотя книге точно не помешал бы редактор, который бы выкинул из текстов кое-какие повторы), но определенного рода автобиография живой легенды современного медиа-бизнеса. Судьба у Долецкой точно была незаурядной, семья и знакомства - и того интереснее. Очень меня позабавила фраза "если у вас были родители, начинайте откладывать на психотерапевта", хотя отношение к родителям у нее трепетное и очень уважительное. Строгое воспитание и привитые с детства манеры, в том числе одинаково здороваться и с королем, и с уборщиком, сослужили свою службу в дальнейшем. Случайные и тщательно спланированные встречи с Джорджем Клуни, Кейт Бланшетт, Карлом Лагерфельдом, Аллой Пугачевой, Виктором Пелевиным, с Роллинг-Стоунз и с кем только нет описаны живо и ярко, однако эта сторона жизни главного редактора Vogue была более-менее известна и без книги.
Больше всего меня тронули именно личные главы - о первой любви, о смерти близких, о собаках, о мышах на даче, да даже чуть снобская глава о поисках идеального водителя. Долецкая очень профессионально держит читателя на крючке: подсыпает остреньких историй о романе с гитаристом-алкоголиком, о случайном обалденном сексе, вскользь упоминает о многочисленных выкидышах - но никогда не раскрывается полностью. Королеве российского глянца удается остаться энигмой, даже написав как будто бы довольно интимную биографию....more

It's a garden variety YA romance story which the author tried to embellish by throwing in some vengeance/anti-rape plot. Frankly, while rape is obviously bad and no one should have sex with anyone without consent of both parties, this very story felt rather implausible and thus hard to relate to.
The characters are cute-ish, though — but I am still getting my money back)...more

Во-вторых, если по-честному, то я начала эту книгу где-то в апреле, и до сегодняшнего дня добралась примерно до сотой страницы (соответственно, не подозревая, что текст не совсем, точнее, не только про любовь), при том, что она мне вроде бы нравилась. "Пронзительная" история любви юноши и зрелой девушки, английская меланхолия, точеные фразы, будто специально задуманные, чтобы быть растащенными на цитаты, чему тут не нравиться? Однако текст шёл медленно и монотонно, не разрываясь на события, будто бесконечный серый месяц какой-нибудь северной зимы, от которой тоже можно получать удовольствие и эстетическое наслаждение, но ужасно, нестерпимо хочется весны и жизни....more

Still, the novel was too badly-written to my liking, and I skimmed the pages quickly, even the ones about Rome. The ending also seemed far-fetched and tear-jerking. Sorry, folks....more
