She is Mary Poppins meets The Sound of Music's Maria in her ways of governing children, He is a Naval Captain who is stubborn as a mule and has to have everything ship shape and perfect in every way.
Georgina Rowe is a woman shaped by a hard childhood and even stronger opinions. She is one of Miss Prentice's Protégés, a group of well schooled governesses who are considered elite and top-notch. Unfortunately, due to her very outspoken nature, she has yet to land a job.
Henry Kincaid is a Military man through and through. He is living his best life even if it is a bit tiring at this moment in time, but he knows his hard work and dedication are about to pay off. At least until he arrives home to find his sister, has abandoned her 3 young children and their humongous dog Norbert in his study to go on a long vacation with her husband to Egypt!!!!
Forced to find a governess to save both the sanity of himself and his staff, Henry runs to Miss Prentice on the advice of an acquaintance, and after a rather strange interview comes away with a rather disgruntled view of his new nanny.
Georgina is forced to keep her mouth shut and her ears open as Miss Prentice skillfully controls the interview to land her a job with Mr. Kincaid, all her opinions lead her to believe that Capt. Kincaid is an arrogant, pig headed man who knows nothing of the kids he has been left with...needless to say she isn't 100 percent happy with her new job, but beggars can't be choosers.
Miss Rowe and Mr. Kincaid butt heads from the off in this absolutely humorous and witty romance. Can't wait to buy the Official Copy when it hits store shelves....more

It has the promise of a good story, but not my style. My teenager, however, loved it a bit more than I did, which is why I am giving this a 4. He managed to read it in about 5 days. He said it definitely could have been better, but considering this seems to be part of a series, he's going to look to borrow Book 2 when it comes out to see if he wishes to continue reading....more

After skimming some of the recipes, I am updating my review to 5 stars. A nice little compendium of generic cookies found in most cookbooks. The difference is, now I don't have to pull out 20 cookbooks looking for the recipes I need during family events, I just have to grab this one book and have all the recipes right in front of me.

First Impressions:
Cover Art is Amazing, the posted pictures don't do it justice.
The panels are beautifully drawn and in an easy to read format... very dark and somewhat creepy they give you an air of drama and intrigue and have the feel of an old school psychological horror movie.
Still trying to get a feel for the story flow, this may be a "need to reread" to catch everything.
Final Impressions and Questions *Spoilers*:
I give this book 4 stars because of the artwork alone, I withhold 1 star because of storyline issues. There are no narration boxes aside from the little splits in the story that flashback to Ipo and her husband's story.
I am praying the second book answers the myriad of questions left by the first book.
1) Who/what exactly are Ipo and her Husband...it is hinted they are demons of some sort but only from her husband.
2) What does this make Milly and Billy? Why did they have to find out their heritage in this manner? What exactly was Ipo trying to teach her children by her actions that she couldn't just have explained to them and then shown them?
3) What is the arrangement with the "others"? And why did the author not just start with Ipo's story instead of throwing us into the middle with her adult children? It leaves alot of confusion.
4) What exactly is Dad's role in all this? He takes a sideline during this whole story and almost acts like comedic filler/character filler...like he is there but not there so to speak.
5)The dialogue is quite sparse and without some kind of sideline narrative it leaves a feeling of "huh", especially when there are storyline changes/location changes. Can we expect more fleshing out of the story and possibly more narrative aside from dialogue in Book 2?
Conclusion:
Any way, I eagerly await Book 2 in 2023 and hope for more in the way of storyline. I love the artwork and will keep these books for just that alone. It may just be that with this series I am not the target audience, but I will continue to follow it regardless....more

This is a slow burn reader, if you like action and adventure right away, this is not that book.
It builds up with a good backstory, a current situation POV and is told entirely in a first person view.
It brings Post Pandemic Apocalypse into view but in a way that doesn't involve some crazy plot or unnatural creatures or what other things you get in most books, movies and TV shows.
This book has a lot of current issues brought into view and discussed...
Marriage Troubles Mental Health Race Gender Roles Religion Politics Ethics and Morals
All in all, this book made me think a lot and view things from a more open minded perspective. I actually related to the main characters more than expected and it really had me wondering how I would think and feel; how would I respond in a crisis like this....more

I am very much liking this book. I do recommend reading Book #1 SAND of the sand chronicles in order to have a better understanding of this book. Definitely can be read as a stand alone but obviously not meant to be.

Written in the "minimalist method which uses as little punctuation as possible", which seems to be more common with Contemporary authors, it feels like you are at times reading nothing but paragraph after paragraph of run on sentences.
This is noticed especially in dialogue rich sections and sections where the Main Character tends to run multiple thoughts together. I actually had to run back into a paragraph and re-read certain areas to make sure I understood exactly who said what.
I may not understand this new "minimalist method" of contemporary writing, and may find it highly confusing at times; but in the end to book garnered Four Stars for a decent story and interesting pictures....more
