Maddox Kane came along and rocked everything I thought I knew, and as prideful as I was, it was damn difficult to change my tune.
Ever wonder what happens to a couple after they get their HFN? This book explores that and let me tell you: shit hits the fan. Hard.
These two enemies turned lovers navigate cohabitations, insecurities, parental relationships, the cops, and prison. It's a doozy.
At first, I was kinda over it. Maddox and Devon are stuck in a cycle of hurting each other, apologizing and resolving to be better, profusely admitting they love each other, and then go back to hurting each other. I get it, but also I don't want it lol. It's very on brand for these melodramatic guys, I just wasn't enjoying it.
Then there's the Jim plot and I checked out my sense and went along for the ride.
Overall, I still love the four main guys in this. I adore the volatile nature of Maddox and Devon, but it was exhausting to wade through haha. I can't wait for Xavier and Nate though!...more

In my defense, I picked this up on a whim because I only own this book from the series! So reading this blind, I did.
Right from the start, I was intrigued. I think both the main characters match what you'd for a rich Dom and the innocent but wants to be bad Sub.
I've read a handful of Nikki Sloane at this point and I think she does character depth in a steamy novel well. Even though the scenes were few, the bits we got to see the characters' vulnerabilities really shined.
Storyline, not my favorite. The conflict at the end with the reveal? Makes sense why she'd have issues with it considering her background and upbringing, but still frustrating.
There's also a baiting chapter ending that had me yelling lol.
BUT THAT CLUB SCENE HOLY SHIT I WAS PANTING.
Overall, pretty solid for what it is! But can human men stop referring to a "wolf" inside of them while they're fucking? That's a surefire way to kill the mood. ...more

I needed more character and relationship My favorite parts of this whole book were any scenes with the Prices. Outside of that, I didn't care for it.
I needed more character and relationship development. I just read a 600 something page book and still don't really know either main character outside of their sexual preferences and surface details. Tess was not a compelling FMC and was naked more often than clothed. I also didn't enjoy the way she spoke to Ryan a lot of the time. Plus she's 10 years older than him but acts way younger? Ryan was sweet but just there. We get one scene where his sister asks him to pay for a school trip and then it's like he doesn't have a mom or sister the rest of the book lol.
The third act conflict was a result of them both not communicating well with each other because they spent the first 2/3 of the book just pining and fucking.
Coming back to add: I'm also upset over the fact that these two agreed that marriage wasn't in the cards for them, they didn't care for it and it's not necessary, ONLY FOR THE EPILOGUE TO BE A PROPOSAL? ...more

In typical SS fashion, there's religious influence in the overarching story and the writing is lyrical, which could be a drawback for some. But despite the mildly slow intro, there's already so much depth in this 150 page prequel and SS can really write delectable smut. I'm wholly intrigued in what's to come.
I feel like I'm on the precipice and anticipating, no, begging, to be pushed off the edge.

This is book two in the Ardelean Bloodline seGrab a warm beverage and your fluffiest blanket, because this shifter romance brings all the cozy vibes.
This is book two in the Ardelean Bloodline series and follows Lena, Cade (from book one)'s sister and pack Alpha Female. She's aloof, studious, and keeps her heart and secrets close to her chest. Her determination to keep everyone at arm's length wavers when in enters Finn, the ex-enforcer for an Irish pack. And surprise surprise, he's her mate.
We follow the two after they meet and the back and forth of Finn trying his best to court and reassure Lena that he won't leave her for any reason and Lena's relentless self doubt. I do quite enjoy Finn as a hero, I'm a big fan of the soft dom with a firm hand. Lena on the other hand, I see where she's coming from and why she's the way she is, but I am desperate for some character development.
I thought their dom/sub play would aid in her healing, help her open up and be more trusting, but it feels like with every scene, Finn falls further while she's holding the story back with her hesitations. I'm not saying we should have a case of magic dick/orgasms suddenly cure her of issues, but the way this was, it got a touch repetitive. I still felt for her but I was ultimately frustrated with her.
Outside of that, it's clear that the author has put a lot of thought and care into this series. The politics on the domestic and international front have been nicely developed since the introduction; all the characters are distinct and have their own thing going on; the world is fully fleshed out and quite robust.
Overall, there's a lot going on in this installment but it serves to be a nice way to escape for a while. This ends in a cliffhanger and I'm excited where this goes next and to see the two develop their relationship further.

My primal and chasing loving babes, don't walk, run to read this. (See what I did there?)
This was an excellent little smutty novella. Spicy but still giving me enough character backstory to make me care about them finally getting together. The kinks just made it all the better.
The only thing that made me cringe a bit is the MMC personifying his "beast". In OVs? hell yeah I'm all for it. In normal people stuff? ...not my fave. ...more

So the circumstance of this is taboo and hot for sure (it's the FMC and her mom's fiancé). Don't worry, the mom is actually a horrid woman so you don't feel bad for the MMC getting with the FMC on that front.
The MMC is an assertive Dom with BDE. There's endless smut, some daddy kink, and lots of spoiling the FMC. There are crossed lines a handful of times (he fucks her next to her sleeping mom at one point) so beware before reading.
But again, the circumstances are hot, but the smut was mild and nothing special to be completely honest. I wasn't vibing with the writing, and I despise how the FMC spent the time after the third act.
There is some groveling at the end though!

These charWhile I do enjoy that this pack was nontraditional with its atypical alphas and an alpha-like beta, this ultimately missed the mark for me.
These characters are 21 years old and up, so tell me WHY they all read like they were in high school? I've read high school aged books with characters more mature than any of the characters in this one.
Secondly, "I love you" was exchanged at the 23% mark. TWENTY-THREE PERCENT MARK. Done so with zero relationship development.
THEN, when the Alphas and Omega finally collide, the book decides to skip over their preliminary meetings? Just told us after the fact that XYZ does this and ABC does that in the span of a paragraph? SKIPPING all the necessary groundwork required to 1. give me some insight on each person in this book and 2. build the dynamics between everyone.
What results is a shallow story, unsatisfying romance, and, unfortunately, a slog of a read.

"Like God, or Satan, or whatever the fuck is out there is playing another trick on me. I don't know if you're ready to hear this yet. You probably aren't, but I'll regret it for the rest of my life if I don't tell you...I love you."
Fuck me. I flipped through my book to find a quote and I'm legit sobbing right now because of how much I love these characters.
Yes, these books are smut focused (absolutely filthy and mindblowingly amazing btw) but the character and relationship development?!?!? Spectacular. I am stunned that a smutty halloween novella (The Dare) evolved into such a substantial full-on duet.
I am so proud of how far each of these characters have come: in finding themselves, each other, and happiness. They deserve the world. These five characters have carved themselves a spot in my heart and they're there to stay.
*I am deducting half a star because of the drama with Reagan and HS bullies. It felt like it was squeezed in last second and while the resolution was pretty satisfying, I expected more.
But that plot point aside, IDGAF, this is going down into my hall of fame favorites.

Cyrus (kraken) is so sweet; he's the most precious creature to ever exist but can be domineering when need be. Did I mention he has a British accent? Reece (human) is burly and gruff on the outside, but we quickly learn that he's a big softie, a pillow princess and proud. Their relationship development was lovely and I adored seeing the two of them overcome their insecurities. I even teared up a couple times while reading this.
And the smut?! There's TENTACLES, praise kink, degradation, breath play, toys, and a mild dom/sub dynamic. Needless to say, this was H O T.

that aside, I'm conflicted with this one.
It's evident the author put a lot of thought with the politics and nuances of the OV and I loved that. Never did I ever think about what would happen to a pack that was already bonded with an estranged omega, or how some omegas could manipulate alphas with their heats and purposefully trigger ruts. I was horrified and fascinated. Also the prime alpha is a woman and I vibe hard with that.
AND THE CONSENT IN THIS. SO FUCKING SEXY. The smut was quite nice; I enjoy a dom/sub dynamic.
The writing though..left much to be desired. I'm fine with first person POV but I kid you not the first paragraph of the first chapter was: "I did this. I did that. I thought about this. I......" you get the point. The pacing of the rest of the story dragged a bit and I did struggle to keep myself invested in the story.
I do wish the FMC was stronger and self-assured but I'm hoping that means more character growth in the next few installments!

I went in expecting angst (look at the title! how could you not expect angst?) but this was not it. Not saying it's a bad book. I did enjoy it! Just wasn't what I was expecting. For context: I don't read synopses because I want to go into a book as blind as possible lol
Title aside, this was incredibly sweet. The omega, Esme, is the twin to a movie star. She's gone through her life under constant media attention and inspection. She's scrutinized and always seen as the undesirable sister, if you will. But one day she finds an Alpha with an irresistible scent and that leads to a lovely courtship between his pack and Esme.
The Nautilus pack are so sweet, caring, and accommodating. Esme has a ton of, very valid, hesitations that the Alphas all work to help soothe and alleviate. They are the definition of comfort, puzzle piece/perfect fits for Esme.
I loved the artistic side all the characters have. Loved all the nesting, spoiling, knotting. Also pleasantly surprised some kinks were thrown in here too! One Alpha is a Dom while another enjoys primal/chasing (though the primal edges to the cnc side more but still a grand time).
I'll be honest, during the conflict before the HEA, I cried lol. The writing and story had me sucked in and I was holding my breath reading the book. I felt for Esme and was reacting how she was and I'm laughing at myself now but it was an experience.
I wish there was a bit more tension and angst considering their relationship was really easy. Also some MM action? Totally expected some sword crossing but was left hanging. But it's still a fun time.

I haven't read a witchy smutty romance I actually really liked UNTIL THIS ONE. This leaned heavily on the paranormal, there was no half assing here, it truly committed. There's so many supernatural creatures in this world alongside the humans and Blair just casually uses her magic whenever she wants so I was having the best time.
While I didn't love the writing (the writing threw me off every now and then, also I kinda hated that Dax kept calling Blair "babe" cause that's so boring) I did very much appreciate all the kinks and smutty tropes generously stuffed in here.
We have *clears throat*: daddy kink, praise kink, spending daddy's money, spanking/impact play, use of toys, butt stuff, somnophilia, sex club scenes, voyeurism, exhibitionism, and one of my favorites in paranormal/fantasy romances: SHADOW PLAY.
We love a daddy dom, don't we? And when the fmc is getting with said daddy dom as revenge on her cheating exboyfriend? I honestly can't scream "hell yeah" loud enough.
The story progression was predictable, but are we really reading for the plot? I'm here for the vibes and a growly salt and pepper man who's here to throw me around. Sexually and consensually of course.
