My Thoughts: I loved this book! Can't wait to read the sequel. I love when a hero or heroine fight their attraction to each other. It adds more spice to the romance. Sebastian (the hero) was so considerate and caring in his treatment of Charlotte. He never took undue advantage of her. Both the hero and heroine had issues from the past that still haunt them. There is an HEA for the hero and heroine, but the book still ends on a sort-of cliffhanger.
Overall, a great read if you are into vampire romances....more

This was an OK read for me. Very linear in storyline. Although, I did not guess who was really the villain. I really liked the ending. Supposedly, the heroine has not been around very many men in her life. So, it did not fit that she keeps pressuring the hero. Reminds me of Twilight, many times I wanted to slap Bella and tell her to let Edward be the gentleman he wanted to be. I wish their relationship would have had more build-up to it.
The Story: Sandi(the heroine) has been living in the United States for five years following her escape from her family. She is from India and escaped an arranged marriage among other things. Mitchell Rovich (the hero) sent Ethan (his friend) to India to rescue her five years ago. Sandi has turned into a successful artist and her agent Eve is the only person she has contact with at the agency that represents her.
One day after meeting with Eve, she is just about home and sees her father and her cousin. She panics and walks fifty blocks to Mitchell's place. She knocks on the door and when he opens it she barges in. He does not recognize her and assumes she is a prostitute. He had just got over a relationship and thinks one of his friends sent her. After awhile, his assumption is corrected and he remembers her. He tries to call Ethan, but he is unavailable so he has her stay with him. He now has to protect her from her family. Sandi has always thought about him and eventually their relationship develops.
The rest of the book deals with Sandi and Mitchell's HEA and the eventual confrontation with her family.

I went in with no expectations. I love the author's KGI series, but have not yet taken to her historical romance books. This was the exception. This book actually made me cry. It was so moving and emotional.
The hero is the absolute best. Even when he hears damaging news about the heroine, he does not jump to conclusions until he questions her. He always puts her happiness above his. He is kind, gentle, considerate, and understanding of the heroine's past.
The heroine has been captive for a whole year in which time she has been raped multiple times and treated with no care or respect by the entire clan except one person. She has come to expect the worst from men and when she encounters the hero she is awed that he is so kind to her. She is resigned to her fate in life.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a romance featuring a wounded heroine and a hero to die for....more

I liked this book. It was the first zombie romance I have read and it won't be the last.
I loved the beginning where the author explained how and why Drake was cursed by a voodoo priestess. At the beginning of the book, Drake is a selfish, self-serving, womanizing jerk. He only cares for his own pleasures and does not care who gets hurt in the process. The book starts out with Drake who is a financial analyst having a meeting with some clients. The meeting is interrupted by a woman who throws what appears to be dirt on him. Unbeknownst to him, he had been cursed by a voodoo priestess to randomly turn into a zombie. The reason he is cursed is because he used and abused a relative of the voodoo priestess on a bet.
He eventually notices a skin discoloration on his neck and goes to the hospital, but they are no help. As a last resort, he seeks out a voodoo shop where the owner tells him he is a zombie and the only way to break the curse is to find the one who cursed him and to get her to remove it. He is fired from his job and becomes an lonely recluse in his apartment.
The story jumps forward eight years later and Drake has become a consulting editor for authors. Beck is his only friend and a Private Investigator he hired to find the voodoo priestess who cursed him. Beck knows his secret and saved him from going off the edge. He hates his former self and regrets what he has done.
The heroine Simone is a romance author who has been hit with writers block so her agent suggests she contact Drake for help. She does and they start instant messaging back and forth. Simone then asks him out for coffee and they meet in person and hit it off. They then go out to dinner. On the third date, they have dinner at her place and then jump into bed together. Here is the only part of the book I had a problem with. There did not seem to me to be enough build up in their relationship. I like it when the hero and heroine get to know each other more before jumping into bed.
It is at this time that the voodoo priestess discovers that Drake is happy and sends zombies after him. They hide away in a cabin - it is here that Simone discovers that Drake is a zombie. Her reaction is understandable, but I still wanted to slap her. Drake was so despondent and sad thinking that she would never accept him. Eventually, she comes around and realizes she does not want to throw away a good thing.
The end of the book features a big confrontation in New York where secrets are revealed and the HEA occurs. I will leave it at that. I don't want to spoil the story for future readers.
