I was absolutely derailed when the FMC used the word “bosom” during zexytime because I thought we stopped using that word in 1986. Safety? Y Triggers- abuse, violence, erotic content Tropes- Abused Heroine, Damsel in Distress, Fanservice Sweatpants, Hesitant Heroine, Instalove (He Falls First), Protective Hero, Purple Prose Mewsings What I liked- of course, the moment when he was wearing the tank top and sweats. I know it’s Fanservice and I don’t care. What I didn’t- the prose got purple and florid during zexytime.

The story starts out very entertaining and the zexytime is hawt, and there are some interesting layers to the hero. But. The “big reveal” that’s supposed to be so shocking was so obvious from the first mention that the hero and heroine had had a forbidden night together. And she really had no valid reason for not telling him. I can see where she might be selfish and unwise as a 20 year-old, but as she gained in maturity and age, she had to know that keeping the information from him was so very wrong. She was supposed to be this wonderful person and great mother, but she continued to lie and essentially steal something very special from him. I just can’t get past that, so that made the last 15% of the book or so pretty ridiculous. ~However ~ The first 85% of the book was very good. The drunk scene was hilarious. And the scene where the hero tells the heroine about his big disagreement with his late wife was heartbreaking. And the zexytime was really top notch. So I’m giving this book 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4. Here’s the breakdown: Cat’s Stats MMC/FMC- Weston and Harlow Genre- Contemporary Romance Length- 311 pages Heat- ...more

Mewsings What I didn’t like could be engraved on the head of a pin and still have room left over for The Lord’s Prayer. This book was awesome! The humor! The humor was everything. Moose, who is one of the best characters ever, is back and he has even more crazy stories and in this book, some of them are supported by subsequent events and with confirmation from other people. Most of them are too spicy to print and I want to continue to be permitted to post on this website, so I’ll refrain. Rook and the boys are also present and accounted for, as Rook continues to wield his weaponized grumpiness and curmudgeonly abilities. Ghost, who has a uniquely twisted frame of mind also is the most concerned about the triumph of True Love, and he is so delightful. There were elements of humor in what was the unique love story, which started when she drugged him, and even elements of humor in the violent scenes, which made them easier to read without cheapening them. There were also serious moments of emotion. Their love lasted past the laughter. And his guilt at killing her brother was as heartbreaking as her feelings of grief. But the humor connects this book.

Loved the hero’s Golden Retriever energy. (You know, I tried dating a guy whom I thought had Golden Retriever energy once, but he turned out to be a total Shih-Tzu. ) I loved that the guy was the sunshine in the G/S equation here. I loved Meredith’s grumpy mien. Loved the plot. REALLY loved the incredibly hot zexytime scenes. Loved everything about this book except the fact that it ended.

Sienna is NeThis book is hands down, one of the best rom com books I’ve ever read. It’s now in my all-time top favorites list of all books I’ve read. Sienna is Nemesis. She would probably call it being a Karmic Warrior or Seeker of Justice. She sees people doing bad things to others and decides to effect retribution in a way that’s commensurate with the crime without being hurtful (or a felony) and without getting caught. She meets Ryker during the course of her day, when he fires his assistant . She has a moment with him that will make you think differently about airport bathrooms, delivers a little karma, and it’s on. This is a slow burn, grumpy-sunshine, enemies to lovers, workplace romance with no cheating and no S.A. It is hysterically funny- I laughed so hard I scared the cat. And it has tender moments, which gave me the feels. The zexytime scenes were measurably hot. This book is the whole package and I highly recommend it.
