I received this book as being part of the book blog tour, my honest review is given in return. So when you read the words above, you're intrigued but you're still not totally sure what you're getting into! I'm a big lover of theatre and not just musically inclined ones but I live and breathe plays when I get to them, they transport you and just utterly captivate you if they do their job right, so hearing this was a play first really got me to say 'yes please!'
As for what this book is about, it's about whatever you make it to be, it reminds me in its essence of Waiting for Godot where you could spend your time dissecting it or you could simply enjoy it.
Our main character who starts the journey with us is Elizabeth and she's a woman who wants to be on her own, she's realized her unhappiness in life and decides that something has to change. Her solution? Well, you'll have to read and find out but just know it heavily involves numerous seventh trains.
Carreira's writing is fluid and the transition from play to book seems effortless on her part, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone who is intrigued and/or loves the theatre.
Content Warning: Suicide mentioned, discussed, and described. It is not the point of the book but it does play heavy in the journey for some. It is not ideation, however.

That isn't the case with this one. I adored the first book and when I was gifted this ARC for book two, I fangirl squealed. Maggie is one of my favorite female sleuths, ever. She's had so much happen to her between the last book (book one) and this one and it's almost a relief that it was done in a way that didn't dismiss what she'd been through and yet still moved the plot and Maggie herself forward.
The Ripper-esque murderer was a favorite part of mine being a big Ripper fiction fan and the introduction of some new/different characters had me so excited.
Maggie is such a force and yet so real I love all her flaws and strengths and after THAT ending....I NEED book 3!
Thanks so much to the Author for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review! 4.5/5 HUGE cups of coffee from me!
I leave you all with that review, go forth and read.
Half jk.
There's more gore and violence for sure and that might be something to keep in mind if those things aren't your cup of coffee/tea.
We have four teens in present day, four who were once part of a close-knit group of five. But now, they're haunted all on one night and there's a chance to rectify a horrible mistake of their childhood.
They have no choice but to play the game and there are more mysteries to unravel as they play for their lives.
There were some things I wanted to know more about/explained more so this is solely why this wasn't 5/5.
Great pacing, creepy, downright terrifying version of Jumanji with Japanese-inspired elements, mythology, and life-or-death stakes. I would say this is a perfect read for some spooky TBRs.
4/5 Cups of coffee from me, thank you so much to Tore Nightfire for a physical copy in exchange for my honest review!...more
Amazing book! I can't believe how quickly I read this. This book based its horror on reality and it made it that much more terrifying. Because there are people in the world who will try and 'treat the gay' out of you. As if it's a disease.
In this case, the 'cure?' You'll have to read and find out more.
There's horror, found family, finding yourself, and other amazing elements in this book.
Overall this book was such a fantastic read for me and I'm so lucky to have gotten an ARC to review.

This was such an amazing read, I love the other books set in this world but 'Her Radiant Curse' finally tells the story I've been waiting to hear about since 'Six Crimson Cranes.' If you want something to tear your heart out and give you background to one of Lim's best characters, I highly recommend this one! Thanks so much to the publisher and Netgalley for an eARC in exchange for my honest review. 10/5 cups of coffee lolol.
What a fantastic ending to this trilogy from Kagawa. It's so easy to slip back into the world she's created of fae and this time was no exception. I love how she paces her books because it always makes them quick reads for me regardless of page count. This was packed with adventures (or misadventures) just like her previous novels in this trilogy and it was a very satisfying ending. The epilogue was definitely a favorite of mine too.

3.5/5 Cups of coffee. This was super dark and gory so perfect in the horror genre I think I was slightly disappointed in the plot, it felt a little lacking because there was so much movement that somehow felt extra though most of it was also integral, it lent a disjointed feel to the novel. Still it's definitely a solid horror read and worth the read. Thanks so much to the publisher and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for my honest review....more

A book that should undoubtedly be used for education, I enjoyed it overall but found it took time to get through the information. Really more 3/5 on delivery and I would suggest the original versus this YA adaptation but again the information is too important for me to give it a rating down so I've rounded up to 4. I'm not sure what I expected but the emotional punch of this was astounding in the best of ways. Brandon does a great job writing to the target audience and I think most YA readers will love this book and connect with the characters. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a 'finding yourself' story with a brilliant LGBTQ+ lineup of representation and who just likes a book that will tug the heart strings. This was creepier than I expected, like I hoped for this level but I've been burned in the past with this genre for YA so I lowered my expectations...and instead I was blown away. I thought this was such a great and slightly twisted read. I give huge props to Lesperance for not backing down on the scare/creepy factor and for giving us just enough twists and turns to keep me reading from start to finish. I flew through this in about three hours that's how much I loved it and could not put it down. We have a good MC and great side characters but even more so omg the antagonist is just *chef's kiss.* I would highly recommend putting this book on your spooky TBRs/TBRs. This was a super enjoyable read. I will say it wasn't the best written for me as far as the fantasy aspects go and it wasn't exactly the slow-burn I hoped for but to say I didn't have 100% fun reading it would be a lie lol. I'll be writing a longer review on my blog soon! Thanks so much to the publisher and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for my honest opinion. 3.5/5 Cups of coffee from me, rounded up to 4!...more
