Jaci Burton returns to her Boots and Bouquet series with an interesting concept. Honor Bellini is a wedding planner and she attends a convention at in Vegas. There she encounters her sister’s ex-fiancé Owen Stone who is there on business as well. As they have a drink together, they begin to get closer until they find themselves waking up in a hotel room together with no recollection of what happened the night before. The only clue is the wedding certificate that states that they are married.
I think a lot of people will be interested in this kind of concept. However, it did take me a while to enjoy it. I think the problem was in the fact that Honor and Owen really felt like just friends to me in the begging of the book. I didn’t get that romantic vibe from them at all until much later. So I think that played a part in how the romance panned out for me. Nevertheless, I do think that the chemistry started to show itself more when they left Vegas and headed back to Oklahoma. I feel like that’s where the romance really got going.
So while THE ACCIDENTAL NEWLYWED GAME had a slow start for me, I did enjoy it. Burton’s writing flows nicely and is very easy to read, making it a quick read. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoy Harlequin novels or wedding-themed stories....more

Jaci Burton has returned with another book in the Brotherhood by Fire series with ALL CONSUMING. If you have been following this series, this is Kal Donovan’s book.
Kal is one of my favorite heroes in this series so I was excited to finally get his story. His heroine is Hannah and she turned out to be a sweet woman that was perfect for him. I see Kal as “one of the boys” type of hero who is both manly and charming. His level of respect for Hannah was something that I really liked. Even though he was proactive in his pursuit of her, he never pushed her too hard because of busy life. In the end, I found the romance to be sweet and satisfying.
I enjoyed the details that Burton put in about firefighting. It’s mostly in the beginning or extra scenes where they really make an impact, but I think it complements the rest of the story which can be more slow-paced. With the firefighting details interspersed with this sweeter romance, you get something a little more exciting.
If you like a second chance romance, then this might hit the spot for you. Charming with sweet and sexy scenes thrown in, I think Burton did a good job with this one....more

Jaci Burton returns with another sweet installment in the Hope series. I have to say that this is one of my favorite series by this author, mainly because I think it stays consistent throughout the books. If you haven’t read Burton before, she has a sexy side as well as a sweet one and I think this Hope series lands a little bit more on the sweet side.
However, that is not to say that there isn’t any sexiness in this book. Because the hero of this book, Zach, is all kinds of sexiness. He’s a former pro football player with a big heart and I think getting a chance to see more of his character was really nice.
The same goes for Josie who I think fits the typical mold of the perhaps the more quiet heroine who is looking for more in life. So when these two come together, it really becomes an explosive story. There’s some good banter and also some fun moments between secondary characters as well. I read this book pretty quickly and that’s also one of my favorite things about Burton’s books. They are always fun and exciting and also a breeze to read. I always look forward to reading a Jaci Burton book!...more
The Hope series by Jaci Burton is quickly becoming one of my favorite Contemporary Romance series. If you love small-town romances that are sweet and The Hope series by Jaci Burton is quickly becoming one of my favorite Contemporary Romance series. If you love small-town romances that are sweet and are very family oriented, then you’ll absolutely love Hope and all the wonderful characters who live in this quaint, friendly town.
Brady Connors is kind of an outsider. He’s a loner by nature and doesn’t really like to mingle with the others so much ever since his brother died. All he really likes to do is just work on his bike and stay in his apartment above the garage. However, he gets paired up with pastry owner Megan Lee who is chatty, sweet and very considerate. When she notices that Brady has been alone for far too long, she extends her kindness and reaches out to him, inviting him over for some cake and coffee. It’s quite sweet how these two get together because Brady is just so clueless with what to do, but Megan won’t let him retreat so easily.
I wouldn’t say this book is a slow burn because the romance does move at a swift pace, but Burton does take her time in making sure that the romance is believable and true to the characters. I loved both the hero and the heroine in this novel, but if I have to choose one favorite, it would be Brady just because I find being in his head so interesting. Because of his loner status, he has a much greater distance to travel emotionally and I think Megan coaxes him out really well.
There are some amazing sex scenes in this one. They’re blazing hot, yet sweet and sexy at the same time. If you follow this series, you’ll also get updates on a lot of the other characters as well. There are lots and lots of babies so you have that to look forward to.
Fans of Toni Blake’s Destiny series will fall in love with this world that Burton has created. Hope has just the right amount of sweet and sexy to interest any reader looking for an escape! DON’T LET GO is definitely one of my fave books of the year! ...more

As a sports agent, Victoria Baldwin had met plenty of athletes in her career. However, when she goes to Hawaii for Christmas, she meets pro surfer Alex McConnell and the sparks are immediate. The hot ever-present sun is no match for the amount of heat these two throw off.
Since this is a novella in the Play-By-Play series, I do think that Jaci Burton moves at a very fast pace and this is especially true because this story features the first threesome in the series. So as Victoria and Alex get hot and heavy quick, Burton then throws in Ben Reynolds, Alex's manager into the mix. I thought the chemistry between Ben and Victoria seemed a little more organic and authentic since there was some time to build. However, that is not to say that this entire story is brimming with steam! HOT HOLIDAY NIGHTS is the perfect way to heat up your holidays!...more

In HOLIDAY ON ICE, Burton takes hockey player, Patrick “Trick” Niemeyer and dancer Stella Slovinski and gives them a second chance at true love. After a torrid affair that ended only because their work schedules became too much for them, Trick and Stella are now looking to rekindle the flame they lost. However, with Stella’s mind firmly on her career and past experiences with commitment scaring her off, Trick will have to convince Stella that he is in it for the long run.
Expect much of the same hot sex, confident characters and sports emphasis in this book as both characters are athletes in this one. As committed as they are to their careers, I loved seeing how important they saw one another and made time to simply be together. In Contemporary Romances, I think that’s what really makes the story believable.
Jaci Burton is quickly becoming an autobuy author for me. With her flowing writing and willingness to push her characters to face their fears, I’ve learned to love everything that Burton has to offer! ...more

Jaci Burton continues her Play by Play series with book nine, QUARTERBACK DRAW. It’s another football player story, but oh no no Grant Cassidy isn’t just any hot quarterback, he’s also an absolute sweetheart as well. Grant doesn’t realize he is looking for the perfect woman for him until he meets Katrina Koslova. As a supermodel, Kat has the beauty and the brains to catch Grant’s attention, but this story isn’t your average jock meets beauty cliché.
What makes this story work for me is Burton’s style. There’s this realness to the characters that really comes across the pages and even though this is an erotic romance book, Burton doesn’t approach it that way. Yes, there’s a ton of steamy and downright dirty sex, but those scenes are always heavily steeped in emotion. Sometimes I feel that other erotic books start with the sex and build a plot around that. Burton steers clear of that here, making the romance the central part of the book. Grant and Kat’s romance blooms steadily, hitting the highs and lows of any real relationship.
When I think of Burton’s writing style, the word “mature” immediately comes to mind, but after more consideration the word “conscious” is a much better fit. With everything she does, Burton seems to make a conscious decision in her writing that also seems to come off in her characters as well. For example, a touch is not just a touch. A kiss is not just a kiss. There’s meaning behind it which I think in turn adds that depth to the series while creating very relatable personalities. As a result, Burton’s romances feel genuine and are more memorable.
As much as Burton focuses on the romance, she also plays up the concept of family. This book explores both Grant and Kat’s family. Kat is young, but she had raised her teenage brother and sister Leo and Anya alone for years. Burton also introduces Grant’s siblings, the next set of characters to get their stories told. All of them are absolutely amazing, making me excited and eager for their books.
QUARTERBACK DRAW is a touchdown of epic proportions. When it comes to Sports Romances, Jaci Burton is the genre’s Most Valuable Player. ...more
