Mostly hats off to the author for letting this story unfold. We get to know these characters slowly. It's a longer than average book but definitely not too long or slow. It held my interest throughout.
The first 20% I was wondering where this was going but then I just got this feeling that it was going to become something wonderful and a book I won't soon forget. H club owner Trent and h school teacher Eden. Couldn't be more different, she's lightness he's darkness but they are just meant to be together.
Events unfold, like I said and there are so many heartbreaking emotional moments they have hiccups but can't fight their need for each other.
Regarding the twist, at one point I just had a feeling about something that could be and it turned out I was on the right track and the author revealed it so well.
The love, the words the feelings these characters invoke in me. I almost wish I could wipe it out of my mind and re-read it!
Secondary characters were great too but Eden is an amazing h. I LOVE that she fought for him and how graciously she handled herself.
The H was perfect (much like the h's father in the previous book) patient, loving, loyal. The h was disappointing. She was so immature, inconsistent, The H was perfect (much like the h's father in the previous book) patient, loving, loyal. The h was disappointing. She was so immature, inconsistent, saying one thing and sending mixed messages and just playing games. Finally she settles in and it was great until she does the stupidest thing in the world from overhearing part of a conversation and making assumptions. The drama resulting detracted from my reading enjoyment.
Overall I liked this story the h was not great....more

His reason is he feels "too much" for her even though he just met her. Immediately after this the h is kidnapped by a rival MC and held prisoner for 3 years (the H had no idea). * h is assaulted sexually & physically for 3 years while held hostage (not on-page, it's revealed by the h after she is rescued) she also says they performed abortions on her during her captivity. *The H was with other women (not on page) during the separation but states he never forgot her.
That being said, I really loved this couple. Rider only wants Zara once he discovers and saves her during a raid on the other club. He is gobsmacked when he realizes it's her and he is so sweet and patient while she recovers physically and emotionally. The things he says to her, how much he loves her just slayed me. He never even thinks about another woman, in fact he wants the h to claim him as hers in front of the club.
Told in 3rd person the author lets us into the heads of not just the main characters but others as well. Sometimes there was too much in their heads when some dialogue could have moved the story along and was needed as well.
Truthfully I loved Rider and Zara so much I worry that the future couples in the series will be a let down. Especially Ruby who will be Preacher's love interest, just not too sure about her. But, I really want more of Rider and Zara. Going to read some other books on my TBR pile but I'm pretty sure I'll get back to this series....more

Elijah is a 30 year old successful tattoo artist who owns two shops. He's recently opened his second shop in his hometown to make his mom happy by having him back home. He's grumpy and doesn't like people. Well, he loves his mom and stepdad, and his employees. But he doesn't want family or kids or even a relationship. He's no man-ho but if he has a more steady bed partner he's only active with that person. His most recent tried to make him jealous by flirting with one of his employees and gives him her phone number in front of Elijah. He's cool with it, he's just done with her.
Hadley got pregnant by her one and only after graduation. She has an adorable daughter Lucy who is a great character herself, she's a little sassy but mainly endearing. Lucy's boyfriend Scott cheated on her when she found out she was pregnant with their second. Scott is a complete loser, a spoiled boy who let her support them while he bounces around not deciding on a career or completing his higher education.
Hadley is nearly 9 months pregnant when she and Lucy encounter Elijah at the grocery store, he and Lucy tussle over the last bag of Funions. Later they discover Elijah's house is next door to their apartment. They get off on the wrong foot.
Individually, Hadley and Elijah are wonderful people. They form a friendship and fall in love. I love how Elijah admits out loud that he just likes spending time with them, and he truly falls in love with both Lucy and Hadley. (After Hadley's son is born they really start to get to know each other.) Hadley is very independent but not annoyingly self-rightous. She has loving parents, a sister, her current employer and a good friend. Her ex is a source of unhappiness because he is immature and frequently cancels plans with Lucy or dumps her with his mother.
I loved how Elijah was puzzled by his desire to be with Hadley and her little family but he didn't fight it. Hadley was scared to fall for him. They have things to work through and take their time to do it. Sweet, sexy lovely this book had the "Feels" all over it....more

The h was raised by her professional gambler father who was pretty well known. Now all that’s left is her older brother who has gotten into debt with loan sharks. She herself is a pretty good poker player but preferred to make her living in a traditional manner.
H is the rock star of professional gamblers, hot and sexy. Even though the relationship is quick it felt believable. H was no man-whore though women threw themselves at him but he hadn’t had any serious relationships. He pursues her and pretty quickly knows she’s it. He’s also pretty possessive right off and likes to make it known she’s his. See, practically perfect.
One star off because the h did a few really annoying things. SPOILERS*******************************************
1. She’s putting herself out there and her older brother doesn’t even appreciate it. In fact he expects it. He is presumably contrite and turns his life around by the epilogue but it was the blind love “he’s all I have left” cliche. She was so willing to just run to the bank or do whatever he asked and was so selfish. I don’t even think he thanked her. 2. She kept up with the “this is just a vacation fling” dialogue in her head when he was clearly interested in pursuing a relationship with her. It felt like it was just to create tension and that could have been accomplished in other ways. 3. She doesn’t tell him she’s leaving on an early flight and leaves him with a note after spending the night with him. Sorry, I can’t stand it when the heroine behaves in a way that I would never tolerate in the hero.

It's emotional, I won't rehash because you can get the gist in the synopsis but it's just lovely. She breaks my heart but I loved her. Characters so well drawn. We also get some Tommy and Tia in first person, such a bonus in a series!
Storyline cliffhanger regarding Angel's sister and some threats to other characters.
Not trying to be vague but it's just really well done. Completely different from the first book but still has the same feels....more

Where to start? If you've read the previous 3 in the series you know who Jojo and Christian (roadname Fork) are. She's the Princess of the MC and sister to the Valentine brothers. Chris is Ella's (Book 1 "Detour") cousin and a former member of an evil rival club. He's proven he is a decent man and is accepted by the Dominion Brotherhood. He's definitely the big, broody, silent type and seems to not notice Jojo. This makes Jojo a little crazy because she is convinced he is her "one". Chris is an amazing and worthy hero, no lie.
Full disclosure, there is a scene early on where he gets a BJ (and nothing else) from a club ho. Jojo is in the room next door and hears it. They are absolutely not in any relationship and at this time he pretty much ignores/doesn't acknowledge Jojo. I'm mentioning because that's a big no-no for some people. I didn't love it but there's so much I loved it's just a blip.
The author does such a good job unfolding their story. Jojo is so funny and determined and sweet and strong without an iota of bitchery. Even though it hurt her when he kept her at arms-length she never gave up on him.
Chris is a great H too. He has his reasons for staying away from her but you get to see (later in the story) why. When they get together it's so amazing, funny, sexy, satisfying as a reader. They may be my favorite book couple ever.

Damn Pippa was really pissing me off but ultimately I enrjoyed this a lot. I don't like to get pissy about over someone who was beaten up by her boyfriend, no one deserves that. But the way she handled her relationship with Spencer, girl was playing mind games and playing with his emotions. Later on she got better and I like how she was handling herself, then she has to go and get on her high horse over something she seriously should have been aware of and on top of, after getting to know Spencer, should have realized was nothing to get pissy about.
Ok, that done. Loved the story, lots of feels and tender moments, just a little ripped I had to wade through so TSTL on the part of the h. Love me these Valentine boys though....more

Negs are (again) spelling/grammar, wrong name or word makes you go back and re-read. Also inconsistencies. From the last book it was stated Carlee was 30, she and Sam were the same age so it stands to reason that Zeke is 30 but he says he's 28. Also, once the baby comes into the story she's 3 months but then she's 1 month. It could throw you out of the story. Also need more romantic love scenes. The h's background had so many twists and turns and most of it comes out towards the end of the book. I think it would have felt more smooth if it was revealed in the beginning.
What's not bad is that the couple are so sweet and loving to each other. I just needed more of JUST them....more

This is third in the series (and my favorite by far) the characters from the first 2 books appear (the H's brothers and their women) however you will not feel you are missing anything, there is not unresolved or previous storyline.
There was a lot to like about Tinley the h. Her attacker is in prison and leaves her home to go to school far away. She works 2 jobs, a diner and for a catering company to support herself. She lives in a decent though tine apartment. She has built her walls high and doesn't let any men in. She uses snark and sarcasm and deflection to protect herself.
Knoxville, the H, meets her at his brother's wedding. She really makes him work and he slowly breaks down her defenses.
The biggest neg to me, was Tinley hanging onto her snarky attitude after they had begun to date and he proved big time she could trust him and also her not telling him what happened in her past. This could have been a 5 star if there had been some more conversations between them and let her reveal her past to him. It just needed more (for me anyway). She needed to show some sweet, too much snark is a huge turn-off for me. I give he leeway due to her past.
Pluses are Knox, there is nothing to dislike about him and Lex who is genuinely funny. Also, there was no big drama with the h's attacker returning or kidnapping her or anything like that.

I don't want to give the impression I didn't like the h, she is actually sweet and kind but oh..she is very flawed. She is a complete martyr and it annoyed the hell out of me that she would defend the actions of people that were indefensible. It actually did bring down my rating by a star along with too much drama, not enough romance. She also need to grovel after hurting the H (though he didn't give up on her being the absolutely perfect hero he was). What love scenes were included were hot but lacking compared to the previous two books.
I did enjoy but spent too much time being annoyed during the middle of the story. No cheating or separations....more

Issues. Mainly it needed more particularly since Olive pretty much breaks his heart and devastates him. She really needed to grovel big time and I get that she had her reasons but it actually hurt my heart how devastated he was. That said, I would read Rory over and over again.

It's second chance for childhood friends/first loves Ryker and Piper. She left (for a weak reason in my opinion but she works to get him back) he wouldn't communicate. Now years later she's back to take care of her father who is grieving the loss of her mother.
I liked Piper. It was a bonehead decision to leave and stay gone but she really works to get back to Ryker. She NEVER stopped loving him and she wears her heart on her sleeve. I love how she never tried to hide her love and sorrow over hurting him.
He was not faithful during separation (I'm really unclear on how many years it was) it's never stated if she was. There is a scene with a guy she "casually dated on and off" and a former one-night-stand shows up at his door one night but it's clear neither moved on from the other.

Denver is the most amazing, sexy, loyal, devoted hero. He is perfect. Bre has made choices in her life due to deep hurts caused by her absentee mother (though she has a wonderful father and step-mother). It's made her shy around people and afraid to take risks. She goes for what's "safe".

Lailah has spent her life in and out of the cardiology unit I knew this story was going to break my heart and it did. Don't worry, they get their HEA.
Lailah has spent her life in and out of the cardiology unit due to the heart condition she was born with. Her single-parent mother has protected her and worries constantly about insurance approving a heart transplant. Lailah has lived life in a fish bowl watching the world go on outside in the world but her spirit is strong. She has her "normal" or "someday" list of things she'd like to accoplish.
Jude has spent the last 3 years mourning for his fiance, she died in this hospital and he never left to return to the life his wealthy family had planned for him. He eventually became a CNA and got a job working at the hospital. His life is work and mourning his lost love. Until he is transferred out of the ER and up to Cardiology where he first sees Lailah.
Watching these two fall in love was beautiful and heartbreaking. There are secrets that unfold adding depth to the story. The way Jude is with Lailah will make you swoon.
But you know, you can feel something is coming to tear them apart and I didn't love how it all played out. Without giving anything away, I really wish it had been the people closest to Lailah who would have told her why he did what he did.
That being said I did love these characters and they do make their way back to each other. I would have liked more after they are reunited. There is a sequel but I'm unsure if I want to read it, I don't really want to see them suffer anymore after what they went through in this story and although he's intriguing, I don't think I want to read Roman's book after a review stated the characters have sex with other people after meeting. ...more

First up, Carly is a completely different person than she was in the previous book and it threw me. I wasn't loving her snarky personality. Yes, she had something terrible happen to her, but I don't find her particularly brave not to have gotten help to deal with it and it was used as a plot device to cause conflict between the H & h more than anything. The author has a tendency to skip over time where you feel there should have been some page time devoted to what was happening in the story. For instance, the h states she is super close to her sister and her sister is her best friend, but when her sister distances herself it's three days later and the h is concerned but makes no effort to talk to her sister. This happens multiple times in different situations throughout the story. Also, both books now have had abupt endings and I think they needed a little more, if not epilogue at least a bit more story after the climax. The violence the h and another character endured at the hands of cartoonish villians was too much for me.
The positives, I loved Chance. He is amazing book boyfriend. The author made me cry at certain times in the book which is so not like me and I really do like the storyline of the series. So even though I griped a lot, there was a lot I liked about it tool. Hey, I'm a girl it's how we are....more
