Unfortunately this was a miss for me. It was a very very slow burn, with so many characters and timelines to keep straight. I felt like I was reading it forever and not really getting very far. I usually like a book with multiple characters and timelines but I feel that we got too many details and every single character’s point of view on everything and it dragged. The book was just too long and not fast paced enough for me.
Can’t love them all, I am disappointed that this wasn’t for me. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read this in exchange for an honest review....more

Easily devoured in a day, it was great to be part of the women’s murder again. These ladies are like family to me after 24 books now and still going strong.
As always, the ladies have their hands full. Yuki finds herself working with a woman with multiple personalities who has been raped, Lindsay is in the hunt for the killer of a celebrity couple, 6 months apart. And Joe is working on a massive cyber hacking case. The drama is everywhere, plenty of twists and turns. Oh, and there is a wedding to plan for.
Short chapters as always make for a super entertaining and fast read. Lovers of this series are going to love it.

I think this may be my favourite of the 3, a page turner from start to finish. Australian crime fiction is on fire right now and I am loving it. Make sure you have plenty of time on your hands as you will not want to put it down.
Kate has certainly got her work cut out for her in Tipping Point. Her brother Like comes back to Esserton for the funeral of his close school friend who has taken his own life. Not long after, another friend is found dead on his property… was it an accident or murder? Luke is the prime suspect and Kate is taken off the case, but can’t help but still investigate.
Another fantastic police procedural. I loved being on this journey with Kate and look forward to what is in store for her next.

This is a book that you want to go into fairly blind. The suspense builds throughout the story of these 2 women, neither If them really who they appear to be. It was fun to see how they saw the same incidents so differently. It is dark and disturbing but a fun and quick read.

Not always easy with some graphic scenes as you would expect, but all in context of the story.
Outback thrillers are some of my favourites, with the setting almost another character. The remoteness, the small community of people, the lack of phone reception and supplies - it all adds to the story and builds the tension.
Gabe was a conflicting character. At times I liked him, at others I wanted to slap him. He is a loner, travelling the WA outback in his job as a trapper. He catches the wild dogs to protect the farms animals and produce. He does some other things on the side as well, that will come back to bite him eventually. One day he stumbles on a Afghan man about to be shot, and decides he needs to intervene. This puts him and Amin on the run from dangerous people, who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets and income stream.

It is a deeply This is a really hard book to review, due to its subject matter and the many many triggers that there will be in this book for people. It is a deeply disturbing and dark read, and I couldn't stop reading. It wasn't a light summer read in any way and will certainly not be for everyone.
I am not going to talk about the plot too much, there is alot going on all the time between the characters. At the centre of it all is Michele Cameron, a black woman who has just been released from prison where she has spent a large part of her life for her part in a child's murder, when she was just a child herself. She is now on the outside and struggling with a new name and life. She has no friends or family and is constantly worried that people will know who she really is. Her main interactions are with a police officer who she learns to trust, and a writer who wants to write a book about her.
I did read this on a rainy day whilst on summer holidays and didn't stop until I finished it. There is a surprising ending and it will give you much to think about.

Once again, I was completely hooked from the start. Full of unlikeable and unreliable characters, this one will keep you reading into the night. Although I picked the ending this time, it did not take away from my enjoyment of this intense murder mystery. It is fast paced and told in the present day and also in diary entries from 15 years earlier. We learn about the town of Lake Moss, and those that live there throughout the story.
Our main character is Margo, who is returning to town to help look after her father who has recently had surgery. She does not have fond memories of the place, it was a living hell for her growing up. Her best friend Jessie Germaine, was the most popular girl at school and she went missing 15 years ago. As she is driving into town, she learns that her body has just been discovered and the case has been re-opened. A true crime documentary team have also arrived in town and Margo finds herself helping out. Who killed Jessie and why? Trust me, there are plenty of answers for both questions.

Everyone knows that in December, 1926, author Agatha Christie went missing for 11 days. But whet happened? Where did she go and why? The Christie Affair tells the story of what happened through the eyes of her husbands mistress, Nan. A fictional telling of a story of love, revenge, hurt and marriage. Nan has her own backstory that was tough and dark. Oh and of course there is a murder to solve.
This was an enjoyable and entertaining read. Released in Australia January 25th....more

That is the hook that sucked me right into this book and did not let go. This is a long book but truthfully it did not feel it and I had finished it just over a day. It is a slow burn of a story, with the past of each wife being revealed through chapters of alternative points of view. But it is so interesting and twisty that you just need to keep reading.
So which wife hated Blake the most? That is pretty much it... one of his 3 wives liked him very much and they don’t like each other either. Tensions certainly ran high in this plural marriage. The women, Rachel, Tina and Emily, don’t trust each other and are quick to point the finger elsewhere. They all had their pasts, with secrets that would rather keep that way. It all comes to a thrilling conclusion and I loved it.

I was instantly pulled into Blaise’s ever changing worldI loved this book ❤️ It was my first book by Alexandra Joel and I could not get enough of it. I was instantly pulled into Blaise’s ever changing world, from Sydney to London I was there for it all. I love an Aussie story, even better when it is set in the swinging sixties and involves the Royal family.
It was clear that this book was incredibly well researched, with the events of the time all playing a part of Blaise’s adventure. I felt that I was in the past, living alongside the characters. I think it wold make a fantastic movie.
Blaise Hill is an ambitious working class girl from the rough streets of Enmore. She is determined to be a reporter, despite the obstacles thrown at her. She wants more for herself and her family. She won’t give up when it gets hard and earns herself an assignment in London to cover the wedding of Princess Margaret. It is an eye opening experience for the young girl, like another world. The circles she starts to move in, the fashions and music, the politics and becoming an independent woman. And of course there are no shortage of men showing her attention. 2 in particular get into her heart, but who can she trust? She has her own secrets that she need to stay secrets.
Blaise is a wonderful character, one that is growing as we read. It was an easy time to be a woman but she isn’t going to let her sex get in her way. I cant wait to read more from this author.

It kept me up until the early hours, each chapters ending demanding that I keep reading. and it was worth the dark circles under my eyes the next day - absolutely brilliant.
Nothing good can ever come of a phone call at 5am, everybody knows this. This call has Sid Allen making his way to the scene of the murder of politician Dan Le Roi in Brighton Le Sands, Sydney. The well known politician has been shot 4 times, and there is another surprise waiting for detectives. This case is going to be big. Journalist Zephyr Wilde is also at the scene and hooks Sid into working with her on this one when she divulges that she was working with Le Roi as well. He was helping her to look into the murder of her mother when she was a child. Lines are crossed and information is shared. When you ask these sorts of questions people notice. This case is dangerous - politics, terrorism, drugs, gangs, corruption, it is all there.
I couldn't get enough of Dead Letters and the Sydney setting made it relatable in terms of location. Michael Brisseden has worked for the ABC for years and it shows in his writing. Lovers of Chris Hammer and Michael Connelly will devour this as I did. All the stars.

I loved Charlotte's Pass and I was so excited to hear that there was another book with these characters. Crackenback had me hooked right from the start and I read it in a day on the beach. Easily read as a stand alone, you need to add Crackenback to your TBR now.
Ava and her 3 year old daughter are preparing the lodge for the tourist season. The snow is coming down thick and fast and they are excited for the coming weeks. That is until Jack Walker, covered in blood, bursts in and starts locking all the doors and cutting off the phones. Who is Jack and what does he want? And why is he covered in blood? At the same time Detective Sergeant Pierce Ryder is on the hunt for a serial killer. Once again it brings him to the Snowy Mountains area. He hopes that the sightings this time will lead to an arrest.
Crackenback is full of drama and secrets. From Parramatta to Thredbo and up to The Entrance (which is where I read this book - freaky!!) the hunt is on to stop a killer and keep Ava and Poppy safe.

Everybody knows Agatha Christie books, but how much do we know about the woman herself? I was surprised to learn that she loved to surf! She was an interesting and strong woman. In December 1926, Agatha Christie went missing for 11 days. Her husband and family had no idea where she was. the police become involved and we learn more about her husband Archie and their relationship. We hear from Agatha's point of view up until she disappears and then from Archie. All was not as it seemed in their marriage and Archie is of course under suspicion - it is always the husband.
