Me da un poco de pena que no lo haya podido disfrutar porque veo que tiene buena puntuación y le tenía ganas, pero no creo que el libro fuera para mí.
El libro tiene una trama interesante: una chica se va a Italia a vivir con su padre luego de la muerte de su madre, el problema es que Lina (la protagonista) sabe de la existencia de este hombre meses antes de ir. En este nuevo país conoce a gente muy interesante, y recibe un misterioso diario de su mamá durante su estadía en Italia, y ahí Lina cree encontrar más información sobre su madre, su padre, y sobre este país.
Todo se empieza a caer desde el principio mismo. Creo que la escritura de por sí no me invitaba tanto: siento que las comparaciones eran muy forzadas, como intentando ser muy artísticas pero solo me sacaban de onda. O también intentaba sonar como una joven adolescente, pero los diálogos, los pensamientos y todo daba un poquito de vergüenza. Además de que no tuve la ambientación que esperaba de Italia, solo un par de menciones de algunos lugares.
Los personajes se me hicieron muy insoportables, salvo por Howard y Sonia (esta última quizá porque apareció muy poco). La protagonista se me hizo muy insípida, no sentí que tuviera su propia personalidad. Y entiendo que también estaba pasando por un momento difícil en su vida, pero es que era muy pesada con la gente y me molestaba. Y para más, cuando se pone celosa, se pone a hacer comentarios hirientes y atacar a la otra chica del interés de un tipo. Innecesario. En algún momento un personaje menciona que ella es diferente a las demás chicas, y no entiendo qué fue lo que vio, además de una chica mala onda que toma decisiones malas y apuradas. El resto de los personajes meh, no los alcanzamos a conocer lo suficiente. Si hubiese estado interesante ver con más detalle la vida de la madre de Lina, que la vemos a través del diario que le dejó, y la verdad es que la historia ahí se pone más interesante.

Lina va y se pone a buscar al tipo, que si tan solo hubiese seguido leyendo se habría dado cuenta que el tipo es un imbécil y no debería ir a buscarlo. Los dramas y las peleas en el libro se me hicieron muy x. Además de que casi todas son por falta de comunicación, o de celos innecesarios, o de peleas por celos. Se me hizo super odioso.
Además que no puedo evitar comentar lo insoportable que se me hizo todo eso de "El Vestido". Que tenía que encontrar ese vestido que hiciera que todos los hombres se enamoraran de ella. El Vestido con mayúscula. Me carga que haya sido casi que un personaje más, y que le hayan dado tanta importancia. Es un tema súper personal pero me dio vergüenza.

Luego vi que el libro se vio envuelto en polémica y decidí darle una oportunidad para poder tener mi opinión propia acerca de si el libro es bueno o no.
A mi parecer, no lo es.
Y me da mucha pena porque el libro tenía algo de potencial, tenía muchas ideas y si hubiesen quitado algunas y las hubiesen ordenado podría haber quedado bien. Aquí culpo a las personas encargadas de la edición del libro, porque esto podría haber sido un borrador más que la entrega final, no hicieron la buena labor de ayudar a la autora a seleccionar las cosas que se deberían haber quedado en el libro y pulirlas.
La idea es bastante ambiciosa: un mundo donde existen seis reinos que fueron malditos, cada uno con una maldición específica para los poderes de la gente de su reino, y cada cien años reaparece una isla donde los seis gobernantes deben luchar entre ellos para encontrar la manera de revertir las maldiciones. Isla, la protagonista, tiene sus propios planes para quitar la maldición, pero al mismo tiempo se ve envuelta en esta especie de juego con los demás, y además se aproblema con un triángulo amoroso (que de paso aparece de la nada). El problema? La maldición de su reino es que tiene que matar a la persona de la que se enamora, además de comer corazones.
Así contada suena bien interesante, pero no les puedo comenzar a explicar el DESORDEN que fue leer esto. Se intentan poner demasiadas cosas y no se logra desarrollar bien ninguna. Es como si hubiesen querido poner todas las cosas que a la gente le gusta de la fantasía en Young Adult y ponerla en un solo libro, cuando por algo cada libro tiene su cuota de clichés. Por eso deberían haber dejado un par de ideas y desarrollarlas bien en vez de ponerlas todas. El que mucho abarca poco aprieta. Había mucho desequilibrio en todo sentido: habían partes de la trama y de construcción de mundo que estaban muy explicadas, y otras cosas que simplemente iban apareciendo de la nada. Por ejemplo, desde el comienzo nos muestran cuál es la maldición y los poderes del reino de Wildling, el de la protagonista, y eso quedó super claro. Pero del resto de los reinos hubo algunos que no explicaron bien la maldición, quedó una idea vaga de lo que ocurría, y lo mismo con las habilidades. Con el reino de Nightshade cada ciertos capítulos iban agregando más y más poderes que tenían de la nada: de pronto decían que podían leer los sentimientos de las personas, y luego hacían el chiste de que podían teletransportarse, y luego mencionaban vagamente que podían hacer más. Cuando eso ocurre el mundo se vuelve falso, porque todo podría pasar, nada es emocionante porque si me agregan así de aleatoriamente habilidades pierde la gracia.
En general, la construcción del mundo es terrible, jamás se explica nada, y nada queda del todo claro. Es sumamente confuso. La trama también es muy confusa e inconsistente. Me surgieron tantas preguntas leyendo.
* Cuál era el sentido de Lightlark (la isla que aparece cada cien años)? No afectaba en nada que la isla apareciera o no cada cien años. Habían reinos que vivían en esta isla pero también en las islas de cada reino (esto nunca fue explicado). *Por qué hay un rey que al mismo tiempo es representante? No debería ser un rey Y seis representantes? Me pareció muy extraña esa desigualdad de poder. *De qué servían las pruebas entre los representantes si de todas maneras no eran relevantes para el juego en sí? Es que en verdad el juego del Cenntenial tampoco tenía sentido. *Por qué hubo escenas de baile si es que con suerte se describieron y no pasó nada relevante? Isla salió corriendo de ellas y no afectó en nada a la trama. Siento que estaba ahí solamente para cumplir el checklist de libro de fantasía. *Las escenas de pelea, que fueron dos o tres, fueron poco épicas, hasta fomes. Es mas, como es posible que en 500 años (porque los protagonistas vivían eternamente?) no pudieron resolver algo, que apenas se juntaron a hablarlo Isla y otro representante lograron resolver el enigma de la profecía?
Y aprovechando esa pregunta paso a los personajes. Mencionaban que, en su mayoría, llevaban viviendo desde que comenzó la maldición, hace 500 años. Por qué algunos vivían tanto? Tampoco sé y tampoco explican. Cual es su apariencia? Tampoco lo sabemos. Nunca supimos la edad de la protagonista, solo que tenía que ser entre los 18 a 20 años. Pero sus dos intereses amorosos tienen más de 500 años y no sabemos como se ven. Yo pensaba que uno era un viejo hasta que vi que iba para algo romántico. Los personajes en sí fueron irrelevantes o insoportables, ninguno caía bien porque ninguno se sentía natural. Todos actuaban de cierta manera, pero era más como un personaje que reunía ciertas características típicas, pero no se sentía que fueran realmente parte de su personalidad. Isla era terrible. Te refregaba en la cara que era ruda y atrevida y nadie la pisotea, pero jamás lo vemos a prueba. Pasa diciendo que es una mujer poderosa, y a la página siguiente estaba preocupada de que no tenía poder. Decía que no confiaba en nadie y a los cinco minutos estaba compartiendo con el resto de los representantes como sus amigos. Decía que había sido entrenada para seducir al rey, pero nunca hace un mínimo esfuerzo de seducción, pero si decía así como "me odias porque crees que soy la típica seductora" ??? en qué momento??. (view spoiler)[ Y cuando el rey le hace insinuaciones amorosas (que por cierto vinieron de la nada, porque en ningún momento ella hizo algo por lo que el rey pudiera enamorarse) ella se preguntaba cosas como "Qué acaba de pasar? Me sonrió? Por qué será?" "Qué habrá querido decir? Acaso le gusto?" Amiga, si te han entrenado en el arte de la seducción, MINIMO sabrás ver cuando alguien se te insinúa. (hide spoiler)] Sobre los intereses amorosos no tengo mucho que decir, eran muy fomes. Faltó tensión, algo donde vieramos como se empiezan a gustar de poco, no una súbita obsesión.

Tampoco me gustó la escritura. El vocabulario era un nivel casi middle grade, con palabras que sonaban terrible para la historia. Por ejemplo, Isla tenía una varita que la hacía teletransportarse que se llama Starstick. Starstick. También describía el sol como una yema de huevo. Otra cosa que me molestó fue el nombre de los reinos. Por qué todos terminan en -ling (Moonling, Starling, Sunling, Wildling, Skyling) y luego está Nightshade? Cual era la necesidad?
Hubo un par de cosas que encontré ok, aunque no terminaron de gustarme. Hubo un par de pruenas que me parecieron entretenidas, el personaje del rey tenía potencial para ser interesante, y el plot twist tenía harto drama y me entretuvo, pero todo se sintió muy forzado y que ocurrió a último minuto.
Como digo, si hubiesen quitado cosas y hubiesen pulido los detalles que quedaron, podría haber estado bueno, pero es un libro que se siente muy desordenado, y una como lectora queda perdida y confundida....more

La trama no es nada de otro mundo: una chica humana se ve forzada a casarse con el rey de los Elfos Oscuros, y de a poco su relación va floreciendo al igual que la paz entre ambas especies. Suena como a algo que me podría gustar, y la verdad es que podría haber sido una buena historia, pero todo lo que se podría haber aprovechado salió mal.
Fue un libro que se sintió que iba muy rápido pero que al mismo tiempo nada estaba pasando. La razón por la cual el libro es tan largo es porque todo se repite, tanto porque repiten las escenas de un punto de vista a otro como también porque se reciclan problemáticas una y otra vez dentro de la misma historia.
La escritura no me gustó para nada. Como dije, todo se repite, e incluso encontré la misma frase de comparación para referirse a los besos del elfo REPETIDA TEXTUAL 10 páginas más adelante. Las descripciones se sentían super ficticias, y cómo dije había momentos donde se repetía una escena dos veces por estar contada desde un punto de vista al otro sin hacer un aporte. Una de las razones por las que no pude disfrutar el libro fue por su escritura.
Los personajes son olvidables y no tienen ni personalidad ni algo que los haga interesante, y en parte se vuelven aburridos porque te dicen todo lo que piensan y lo que hacen. El show don't tell no existió en este libro. Y el romance fue lo más aburrido que hay, se sintió muy forzado al principio, casi que se enamoraron de una, pero para que no fuera tan rápido y obvio la autora decidió poner las peleas de pareja por culpa de la falta de comunicación más ridículas que hay. Además, el rey elfo hablaba como si fuese un robot. Su POV era lo más descriptivo que hay, sus pensamientos eran muy explícitos y eran las mismas cinco ideas que se repetían una y otra vez. Era de veras insoportable.

Con este libro me queda clara mi relación con SJM: me encanta leer sus libros aunque no los encuentro realmente buenos, o por lo menos ya no. Lo paso bien leyendo y los seguiré comprando, pero cada vez encuentro más cosas que no me gustan.
En primer lugar con este libro me llama la atención que lo venden como fantasía adulta, pero lo único adulto que pasa en este libro es que hay sexo, drogas, y que los personajes ya son adultos. Pero la trama es similar a sus libros YA y los personajes se portan igual de inmaduros que si fueran adolescentes. Los chistes y comentarios que hacen dan un montón de vergüenza, te intentan vender que Bryce es muy badass y le da lo mismo todo, pero solo da la sensación de que es una adolescente cringy. Todos los personajes están armados como el resto de los personajes de los otros libros de SJM, y si quería subir la madurez de sus libros tendría que también hacer que sus personajes no se comporten como de libros de adolescentes.
Trama: De esto no tengo mucho que comentar. Creo que la trama fue un poco meh, después de la guerra del primer libro ya no quedaba mucho que hacer para superar esa tensión, y toda esa trama de Sophie me pareció poco interesante. Quedé como "ya, y?" cuando me presentaron este problema, y sentí que la pusieron solo por hacer que algo pasara en el libro. Junto con esto, el ritmo del libro estaba muy extraño. Pasaban 400 páginas sin pasar nada importante, y luego las últimas 100 páginas pasaba todo y te metían a presión toda la información que no te contaron en todo el libro y que era imposible de deducir lo que iba a pasar.
Personajes: Siento que esto fue lo que más me molestó, porque teniendo tanto material y oportunidades para desarrollar bien los personajes, la autora se fue por lo fácil y decidió hacer lo mismo que hace con todos sus personajes. Bryce: Yo creo que con ella fue con la que tuve más problemas. Es una Mary Sue con todas sus letras y nadie me puede decir lo contrario. Todos los personajes hombres la aman, la encuentran atractiva, o les gustó en algún momento de esta saga, cuando ella es super insoportable, se las intenta dar de chica dura e indomable pero es solo pesada y muy cargante. Además creo que es super incoherente su personaje; dice ser una mujer independiente y que no necesita a nadie y menos a un hombre, pero dale que anda detrás de Hunt a cada rato e incluso fue como su mamá a ir a buscarlo de un castigo?? uy me dio mucha verguenza eso; o dice que reniega de ser una princesa pero se aprovecha de su cargo para salirse con la suya y se comporta como una niña mimada (y luego culpa a su papá por esos comportamientos??). En fin no me gusta. ** Además me carga que sea Bryce moviéndose solo entre hombres, ella tiene amigas mujeres y HAY más personajes mujeres que son super interesantes, pero prefieren no desarrollarlas más y darles más importancia a sus amiguitos hombres. En verdad esto no es un problema como tal solo algo que a mí de manera personal me molesta. Hunt: Me gustaba muchísimo más en el primer libro que en este ;-;. Me lo quieren vender como que es un tipo super abierto de mente pero en verdad es un machito de igual manera. Que se aprenda a controlar solo, no puede ser que tenga que ir Bryce por detrás a calmarlo o que tengan que tirar para que el tipo se tranquilice. Danika: Qué rabia me da esta y todo lo que la involucra. Mientras más leemos el libro más sabemos que tenía cosas turbias por detrás que no le decía a nadie. Bryce dale con decir "noo ella nunca haría eso, me lo habría dicho" cuando lo único que sé de Danika es que nunca fue honesta. Me da muy malas vibras ya. Además, la obsesión y los celos que siente Bryce por Danika no son normales, no me pueden convencer de que no le gustaba porque no hay explicación para el comportamiento obseso de Bryce (que en todo caso es super raro). Tharion: siento que en el primer libro me caía mucho mejor, aquí nomás lo sentí como un idiota, no me importó mucho su existencia. Ruhn: Creo que este fue el mejor personaje, o por lo menos el que más me interesaba. Me gustó su historia paralela y me habría gustado saber más de él. Cormac: este es un personaje nuevo del libro y la verdad es que me gustó más de lo que pensé, me gustó su rollo y creo que se merecía mucho mejor de lo que le dieron. Juniper y Fury: me dio rabia lo poco que aparecieron y su poca influencia en la historia. Ellas, y los pocos personajes que hay que son de la comunidad LGTB+, son casi que decoración para la historia. Si ellas no hubieran aparecido la historia seguiría igual, salvo por quitar un poco de drama que, otra vez, era innecesario. Me gusta que SJM ponga representación de gente queer pero si van a ser así de poco importantes es casi como no ponerlos. (Posible spoiler menor en esta sección) Química y romance: No sé qué pasó aquí. No sentí para nada natural la relación de Hunt y Bryce, muy contrario al primer libro que me gustó su relación. Hicieron un trato de no tener relaciones por seis meses que ??? por qué hicieron eso?? literal no tenía ningún sentido. Las escenas de sexo fueron muy fomes y poco orgánicas, eran todas iguales y cuando decían que iban a hacer algo distinto no hicieron nada de lo dicho. Uy y las peleas que hubieron en este libro entre ellos fueron ridículas, peleándose por estupideces que no aportaron nada a la trama, creo que pusieron eso para agregar drama pero a las 10 páginas ya no importaba. Si me gustó el romance que se empezó a desarrollar con Ruhn, si quiero ver como eso sigue porque me interesó un montón. La protagonista me dio un poco lo mismo, pero el protagonista... Ay que verguenza que me dio. De partida se hacía llamar Joker, era un claro otaku y gamer, además de que sacaba a colación que había estado con muchas mujeres y que todas lo amaban a pito de nada, y me quieren vender que es un tipo sexy??? Nonono.
También ocurrió algo tirado para el final del libro que me dejó super descolocada. Es verdad que el libro tiene Trigger Warnings y es importante leerlas, a mí se me fue y por eso quedé como shockeada que apareciera eso de la nada. Pero aún así me molestó porque me dio la sensación que pusieron este tema tan importante como herramienta para agregar emoción a la historia y que la niña se viera más vulnerable. Quizá no haya sido así, pero se sintió muy extra y puesto a último minuto, no lo sé.
Y creo que el epílogo también fue muy ??? vino de la nada y muy apurado con todo.
Creo que es un libro entretenido, cumplió su propósito de ser una lectura rápida para poder despejar la mente, y si tuvo sus momentos sexys, pero no creo que haya sido bueno....more

No puedo creer lo horrible que fue leer este libro. Es que no lo puedo creer. Leyendo la sinopsis pensé que iba a ser un libro oscuro de romance de bullys, creí que iba a ser un libro morboso que me iba a hacer dudar de mí y que me iba a gustar culposamente, pero nunca me esperé que este libro iba a ser tan repulsivo.
El libro no contiene advertencias, pero aprovecho de decir que este libro tiene abusos de todo tipo (psicológico, físico, sexual).
Es que ni siquiera sé cómo partir esta reseña.
De partida encontré muy ??? que estuviera esta universidad que entrenara a hijos de criminales para ser mejores criminales. Por qué existiría algo así ? y además ni siquiera ofrecen distintas carreras, ni siquiera es una universidad. Me da la impresión de que las autoras querían que esto fuera un colegio pero por razones obvias decidieron hacerlo universidad para que mínimo los protagonistas sean mayores de edad. Pero si me gustó la idea de la trama: el hijo del criminal supremo, y la hija de un criminal que rateó a todos y por eso toda la universidad la odia. Si hubiese estado bien desarrollado, podría haber sido un romance bully bueno, pero TODO estaba mal. No puedo rescatar absolutamente nada del libro.
Mi mayor problema fue el protagonista hombre: Quinton. Nunca en mi vida había odiado tanto a un personaje ficticio, a nadie en la vida real. Es un tipo abusivo, enfermo, que necesita estar en control de todo y de todos, y controla a la gente sólo por el poder que tiene su papá, porque sin él Quinton no tendría ningún tipo de respeto porque el tipo no tiene más personalidad que ser hijo de un tipo importante y ser un depravado. Es un bully y le encanta hacer sufrir a la gente, y peor aún le excita de manera sexual. El hecho de que imaginar como se aprovecha y abusa de Aspen (la protagonista) le gustara me dio asco, y más aún cuando dice en varias ocasiones que le gustaría que ella estuviera inconsciente para poder ocuparla como quisiera.
EN QUE MUNDO ESTO SERÍA ATRACTIVO??? Es que Quinton no tiene ninguna cualidad que a uno le guste si quiera de una manera culposa este personaje. Es repulsivo, un abusador de todo tipo, agresivo, y además insoportablemente mala onda. Ni siquiera un animal tiene tan poco control sobre sí mismo. Es casi antinatural el odio que me provoca este personaje.
Mi segundo y GRAN problema con este libro son todas las escenas de sexo. NINGUNA es con consentimiento. Me duele y me da rabia hablar de este tema, me revuelve la guata de tener que mencionarlo, pero fue algo que no pude pasar.
Y mi problema con esto no es la temática del libro, ni soy sensible ni nada. Entiendo que este libro sea considerado y etiquetado como "Dark", no esperaba que fuera algo tierno ni nada por el estilo. Y no tengo problema con los libros oscuros, me gusta cuando los libros desarrollan temáticas tabú, pero cuando las desarrollan bien.
Quinton básicamente chantajeaba a Aspen con conseguirle cosas básicas para la vida a cambio de sexo (esto es porque todo el mundo en la universidad la odiaba y no le daban comida, no le arreglaban la cañería del baño, etc.). La chica estaba en la encerrona de que si no aceptaba podría morir de desnutrición (que de hecho esto casi pasa en el libro), así que acepta. Por lo tanto ninguna de estas escenas fue porque ella quisiera realmente. El tipo era super demandante, entraba cuando quería a la pieza de la niña (porque tenía una copia de su llave) exigiendo lo que era "suyo", hacía lo que quería y se iba.
Además me pasa que las escenas de sexo ni siquiera son buenas. Ni siquiera se podría justificar este libro como un libro erótico muy fetichoso, que a una le gusta y que se lee con morbo, porque las escenas no son buenas. No entiendo entonces el punto del libro porque ni siquiera logra eso.
Y lo que fue lo peor para mí es que existe una violación en grupo por parte de Quinton y sus amigos. Esta escena es realmente asquerosa y aquí casi paro de leer. El tipo va con su rollo de maniático del control y solo por eso no deja que sus amigos le hagan algo más, pero aún así abusa de ella con los otros ahí deteniéndola de escapar y además está siendo grabada. En todo momento el tipo dice que no se arrepiente de esto, y es más, que lo volvería hacer. Y cuando uno de sus amigos le dice que se ha pasado y le dice que si se lo hicieran a su hermana estaría mal, Quinton tiene la desfachatez de enojarse con su amigo y decirle que está loco y que no debería comparar una cosa con la otra.
Es que de verdad no entiendo como a alguien le podría gustar este personaje tan asqueroso. Es que ni siquiera tiene algún cambio de personalidad ni nada, sigue siendo igual de animal durante todo el libro, siendo un posesivo, abusivo y violento frente a Aspen.
Aspen me dio muchísima pena. Me daba angustia leer como todos le hacían la vida imposible, y como tenía a este grupo de hombres detrás suyos para hacerle de lo peor. También me da pena que sabía que Quinton era un cerdo, y que se diera cuenta de que el tipo aunque hiciera un mínimo acto de decencia humana seguía siendo una horrible persona, y aún así intentaba razonar con él cuando se volvía más violento de lo normal. Siento que el tipo la tenía tan manipulada y estaba en un ambiente tan nocivo para ella que solo le quedaba confiar en él. Qué rabia. Y sobre el final del libro... No me podría importar menos el cliffhanger que me metieron. En mi mente habrán muerto todos y sufriendo mientras que Aspen logró escapar y vivir en paz y con terapia por todos los horrores que vivió. No acepto otro final y me da lo mismo el libro siguiente.
El problema con este libro es que fue etiquetado como romance pero en realidad es de horror. Esto NO es romántico, la relación que había entre estos dos nunca fue romántica ni hubo cariño, sólo manipulación, violencia y odio. Estoy segura de que deben haber buenos libros de romance con bullying (que es un tema turbio pero se podría trabajar bien supongo), pero este NO es uno de ellos. Voy a partir diciendo que no sabía que me podía esperar de este libro, y habiendo leído el primer libro sabía más o menos lo que podría encontrar, perVoy a partir diciendo que no sabía que me podía esperar de este libro, y habiendo leído el primer libro sabía más o menos lo que podría encontrar, pero fue mucho más caótico y desastroso que el primero, y no se me hizo tan entretenido como el primero para, por último, decir que lo pasé bien leyendo.
No sé ni siquiera por dónde partir. El libro anterior terminó de manera abrupta y sorpresiva con la protagonista teniendo un trastorno de personalidad, y al inicio del libro resuelven algunos puntos, pero de manera confusa. Sí hubo cosas que pasaron: Isa sí se casó de nuevo con Bryant, sí tuvieron una hija, Brooke sí existía y mató a la hija (!!). De aquí en adelante el libro revela información a diestra y siniestra, sin que nosotros como lectores podamos si quiera deducir algo, porque todo parece un bombardeo de secretos y plot twists que, ya en la mitad del libro, ni siquiera sorprenden, porque ya sabía que me podía esperar cualquier cosa. Es que ya era tanto lo que ocurría que ni siquiera era coherente, solo parecía ridículo. Pasaron tantas cosas que no podría nombrarlas todas: divorcios-no-divorcios, revelación de identidades secretas, medios hermanos sorpresa, una gemela malvada, personajes que pensábamos que estaban muertos no lo estaban, enfermedades inducidas, el regreso victorioso de Devon, entre muchas otras. Es que no puedo expresar de manera correcta lo poco efectivas que fueron estas revelaciones, porque era tanto pasando en tan poco tiempo, y revelado de la nada porque era un secreto que le estaban guardando a Isa, que nada se sentía real. No podía sorprenderme si sabía que literalmente cualquier cosa podía pasar. Y lo que más me enoja, hay cosas que no me quedaron del todo claras, como, por ejemplo, por qué Bryant se casó con Isa en un primer lugar. Después de este libro tiene menos sentido aún.
No me da la energía para entrar en detalle de todas las cosas que me enrabiaron de este libro, por mencionar algunas la relación de Bryant con Isa, toda la existencia de Devon, las personas que estaban muertas pero revivieron y todo el último 20% del libro, que se me hizo completamente innecesario. Es que me enoja, porque se sintió que todo fue para nada, porque no hubo realmente consecuencias de nada, todo se resolvía, nada era tan terrible porque en verdad estaba todo calculado.

En primer lugar, creo que la autora debería haber cambiado a su equipo de edición, porque no hicieron en trabajo que tenían que hacer. El libro se sentía como leer mis fanfics de chica, que los escribía en inglés y todo sonaba fuera de lugar (llamar a los cigarros "cancer sticks" se me hace tan ?? no suena tan bien como podría haber sonado en la cabeza de la autora, tener dos párrafos para describir la ropa que se puso la protagonista no era tan necesario, en un momento también dijo "straighten my tits" como para decir que se ajustó la polera ???, también dijo que su talla de sostén era "Double DDs'" cuando es solo DD o double D no era necesario duplicar dos veces). La manera en la que contaban la información era sumamente forzada: en vez de mostrar los problemas de Isa, la protagonista, con su familia y con el alcohol, ella de la nada soltaba todo eso al principio del libro. Hay mucha repetición de información que no era necesario decir dos veces, incluso recuerdo haber pensado en algún momento que se me estaba repitiendo la página. En general, este aspecto fue lo que más me causó problema a la hora de leer.
En segundo lugar, esta la trama. Creo que estaba bastante interesante: Isa en su pasado se vio envuelta en un trágico accidente y, años después, Bryant, uno de los hombres más ricos del mundo al parecer, le dice que se tiene que casar con él, ya que tiene videos que podrían terminar con su vida y la del padre de Isa (el presidente de EEUU). Se casaba con ella con una misión de venganza, pero de a poco empiezan a surgir sentimientos genuinos. Si hubiese estado bien desarrollado, podría haber quedado bien, pero hay muchos cabos sueltos que quedaron sin resolverse por completo al final del libro. Entiendo que tiene una segunda parte, pero hay cosas importantes que no quedan claras con respecto a las intenciones de los protagonistas. En fin no entendí. (hide spoiler)] Sí me parece que estuvo muy interesante la historia dual entre el presente y el pasado de Isa, donde conocemos a su amiga Brooke. Creo que, para que el final hubiese quedado más potente, podríamos haber conocido más a este personaje, porque creo que podría haber sido pulido para que la historia quedara más interesante.
En tercer lugar, quiero hablar brevemente de los personajes. Isa no me cayó bien, y si hubiese estado mejor escrito el libro habría sido muy entretenido leerla y conocerla. Está lejos de ser una protagonista típica e inocente: tiene problemas con sustancias, una insana adicción al sexo y, al parecer, ninguna de las relaciones afectivas que mantiene son saludables o buenas. (hide spoiler)] Pero, tiene esta personalidad que a veces le dan a las protagonistas que no me gusta nada donde se describe muy segura de sí misma y muy chora y atrevida, pero al mismo tiempo insegura de una manera que no es congruente con el personaje. Luego tenemos a Bryant, el interés amoroso que parece ser supermegarico, frío, e inteligente. Me repetían mucho esa información, pero nunca vi realmente que él fuese inteligente. Su venganza no tenía sentido y nunca hizo un plan que tuviera algo de cabeza. Y algo que ocurría muy seguido es que guardaba muchos secretos que se nos revelaban demasiado encima como para ser interesante. Está bien que un par de cosas se nos revelen muy encima porque Bryant guardaba ese secreto, pero que todo fuese así solo hace sentir que las cosas están viniendo de la nada. En fin. Luego está Devon, el extraño amigo de Isa que era su roomie, y al mismo tiempo su amigo con ventaja. Obviamente, porque no podía no ser así, Devon sí estaba enamorado de Isa, aunque habían establecido que no pasaría nada entre ellos. Me cayó mal este personaje, ni siquiera aparece tanto, y siento que toda su presencia fue sumamente forzada. El último personaje que vale la pena describir (porque el resto de la familia de Isa no es tan relevante como para tener una opinión) es Brooke, la amiga de Isa. No sabemos tanto de ella, y todo lo que sabemos es por recuerdos del pasado y por infodump que nos hacen de ella. Fue el personaje que me pareció más interesante, pero, como dije, creo que faltó desarrollarla.
Si es que a este libro le puse tres estrellas es por el final. Me dejó con la boca abierta. No porque fuera bueno, sino que fue tan sacado del aire, tan abrupto, tan caótico, que casi chillo. Fue un plot twist que tuvo presedentes casi nulos, no había manera de verlo venir. Desde que cierto personaje se raptó a Isa, todo fue extremadamente confuso, al punto que no entendía nada de lo que estaba pasando. Y luego, con la revelación final y la semi explicación del personaje de Brooke quedé loca. Nada me hacía sentido, y estaba escrito de una manera tan confusa que era incluso más difícil de entender qué estaba pasando. Ha sido por lejos el peor libro que he leído este año. Es que no sé ni por dónde empezar a comentar este libro porque es todo un gran desastre. Ningún aspecto de este libro tiene algo que rescatar. Muy resumido, el libro trata de este grupo mafioso que se llaman los Vipers, que son una especie de familia encontrada compuesta de cuatro hombres extraños y locos en el mal sentido. Mientras cobraban deudas, un hombre les da a su hija como pago, y esta chica es Roxy (en verdad se llama Roxanne pero nadie le dice así porque es demasiado bacán para eso). Y ella no es la mujer asustada y sumisa que los Vipers pensaban encontrarse, sino que Roxy tiene mucha actitud y una personalidad super fuerte, y pronto pasa de ser una propiedad a ser parte de la familia. Y digo pronto porque pasó con suerte UNA SEMANA y los Vipers estaban a sus pies. Esta familia tan temida de mafiosos dieron toda su información, todas sus propiedades y todo a una mujer que conocieron por menos de una semana.
La verdad es que este libro se sintió como que la autora solo plasmó sus fantasías en este libro; puros hombres guapísimos detrás de esta chica que es demasiado linda para ser verdad, teniendo relaciones sexuales loquísimas, y además todos eran mega millonarios. Mi problema no es con eso sino que es con la manera en la que fue ejecutado. La trama es casi inexistente porque el libro (que por cierto tiene más de 600 páginas) está hecho por fragmentos de escenas de sexo y de momentos """románticos""", y luego lo intentaron unir con una trama que era muy tonta. No hubo momento de tensión ni que estuviera intrigada con lo que iba a pasar, porque nada estaba pasando, sólo me intrigaba si Roxy iba a terminar con alguno de ellos o con todos (que por cierto el final del libro me dejó pero ??). Tampoco hubo desarrollo de personaje, porque todos los problemas se solucionaban por arte de magia, y cuando alguno tenía un problema, desaparecía como si nada y sin ningún tipo de trabajo psicológico o algo. Igual que las relaciones amorosas en este libro, de la nada ya se amaban y estaban obsesionados unos con otros.
Tuve problemas con TODOS los personajes, no hubo ninguno que se salvara. Roxy: uff. Me intentaron vender a esta protagonista fuerte y girlboss, cuando en realidad era una insoportable que se tiraba comentarios fuera de lugar y super cringe. No, no quedaba como la chora y mujer con poder, simplemente daban ganas de que se callara. Y como ocurrió con todos los personajes en este libro, su personaje te lo explicaban, no lo leías. Te decían explícitamente "ella es super ruda, no te metas con ella" junto con ella hacer cosas de ruda, entonces era una reiteración de información que se hacía super agotador. Te lo dejan claro CADA VEZ que el tipo aparece. Cosa que hacía te decían que estaba observando todo porque "no se le escapaba ningún detalle", o daba algún detalle de alguien porque "lo sabía todo". Era un personaje super vacío, era solo un arquetipo que en realidad no tenía una personalidad propia. Era muy aburrido leerlo porque no tenía nada de especial. Kenzo: El único hermano de sangre con Ryder. Era supuestamente el "tierno" de los cuatro, pero aun así fue el primero en lanzarse encima de Roxy y no respetó para nada que ella dijera que no. Me da lo mismo que me lo intentaran vender como que al final a ella igual le gustó, fue asqueroso. Además era el más extra, no tenía nada de interesante. Garrett: Por como te lo describían era literalmente Hulk. Tipo grande y musculoso que tenía neuronas únicamente para pegar y para tener sexo. Odia a las mujeres por un trauma con una ex suya y con eso justifica su manera de comportarse como un animal. Siento que su relación con Roxy es la más asquerosa porque es quien más la cosifica. Diesel: Este podría haber sido el personaje más intersante, pero terminó siendo el más ridículo, más cringe y más asqueroso de todos. Le excita ver sangre y sus gustos eran super violentos, por suerte también eran los de Roxy. Intentaron hacer este tipo de personaje estilo Joker pero aún así más loco, pero todas sus locuras terminaban siendo más vergonzosas que algo interesante. Era insoportable que se comportaba como un niño y era en extremo obsesivo con Roxy, y lo que más rabia me dio es que ella le seguía el juego. No veo como a alguien le podría gustar este tipo que era sucio, infantil, violento y super peligroso. Además me daba asco que le dijera Little Bird a Roxy, como un diminutivo.
Ninguna de las relaciones que tenía Roxy con los Vipers era romántica. Eran posesivos con ella, y en muchas ocasiones eran manipuladores para que ella no los dejara. Eran violentos (y no hablo del sexo) y ella aceptaba esa violencia y decía "no importa que me hagas daño pero háblame, no me dejes sola". Esta y tantas cosas más estaban super mal en su relación, y nada fue para mí cercano a ser romántico.
Y otro aspecto del que quiero hablar es el sexo en el libro, que es lo más importante. En general estuvo bien supongo, habían buenas escenas, otras que fueron demasiado violentas y en casi todas los Viper le repetían a Roxy como ella era básicamente su propiedad. Pero dejando eso de lado, quiero alegar sobre todo de que los Viper eran realmente penosos. Al principio mencionaban que con solo ver la foto de Roxy ya estaban excitados, uno incluso se masturbó 4 veces de solo ver una foto. ??? Y bien que se hacían los choros pero no duraban ni 5 minutos y ya estaban que se venían. Por lo menos se preocupaban de que Roxy también lo pasara bien, que es lo único que le puedo dar el punto bueno a estos tipos.
En fin, creo que es un libro malo, mal escrito y mal desarrollado, y solo lo disfruté porque me encanta leer cringe, y eso fue lo que este libro fue....more

La protagonista no me cayó muy bien, si hay una palabra para describirla sería petty. Si bien me gusta que se hayan arriesgado con una protagonista que no sea convencional, si me daba vergüenza ajena las cosas que hacía. Los personajes secundarios también son muy poco relevantes. Me cayeron bien un par de amigos que tenía, pero siento que no tenían importancia. El único que podría rescatar sería el Rey, pero también era bien pavo. Desconfiaba de todos porque no sabía quién había matado a sus papás pero se acerca a una niña que no conoce de nada y le habla para ser mejores amigos.
El plot twist del final me pareció un poco evidente, aunque hubo un momento donde pensé que la historia se iba a ir por el camino fácil, pero aún así no fue muy sorprendente.
