As usual his work left me creatively inspired, and in awe of the powers & knowledge of the ancients, but this time it left me quite terrified. Missing from the previous work was the "smoking gun," the exact nature of the cataclysm that smashed mankind back down to the stone age at the end of the last Ice Age, wiping out all obvious traces of the source advanced civilization we've inherited our own sciences from. The evidence is back by irrefutable, rock-solid scholarship and is as amazing as it is alarming.

This was the second or third adult book I ever read at the age of 13 or 14. I read it a few times over the years, and it always leaves me with a great deal of sadness. Booker T. was trying to establish for his people a solid economic base based on property ownership, the mastering and passing along of valuable skills that the world would court, an embracing of Sacred Work for your own's sake as a responsible free citizen, and a community synergy with the surrounding ethnic groups. Along with the brutality of jim crow, his efforts were sabotaged by blacks preferring a deceptively easier way to achieve success by avoiding the hard work they associated with the slave era, and of course it ended up backfiring on them. I bemoan how much further ahead we would be right now if we had only embraced Booker T.'s vision, but as long as it remains available to read it will never be too late.
