My Friend recommended this book for me to read specifically on my birthday. If you know me, I take recommendations very seriously. I followed her advice so quickly. It was the best thing I did for myself.
This graphic novel/children's book tells the story of four unusual friends, a boy, a mole, a fox, and a horse. They share truths about life as the boy searches for a home on his journey through the countryside on a spring day. The story of a boy and accompanied by exquisite artwork, the novel explores some significant such as self-acceptance, courage, friendship, and love. Sooner, not later, the boy learns that home is not always a fixed place.
I found the writing style to be well-written, with clear words. It shows that you do not need convoluted words to have a beautiful story. I loved all the characters: first, we have the boy, who is inquisitive and who feels homesick and a bit lost. The mole is small, enthusiastic, and seems to eat cake to feel better about himself. Also, The fox feels the hardness of life. And finally, the Horse who is gentle, kind, and full of wisdom.
If you are planning to read it, so do not ever hesitate. Pick up either the book or the audiobook. I read it twice and mostly loved the audiobook because the narrator was the author. This book has many lovely reminders. that we may forget with time. It shows that kindness and vulnerability is the best way to bring people closer....more
