There were some parts of the story that I liked such as Bobby the rabbit and the aliens. However, most of this book was just a ridiculous pointless plot that lead nowhere in the end. The characters had no depth and honestly I just kept getting confused between the two girls. There was nothing that really distinguished them from each other. The storyline that I wanted to actually follow just drops off and is supposedly continued in the next book. I don’t see myself going that far to see what happens. I usually like wacky adventures with a random group of bizarre characters but this just didn’t do it for me. There was no substance to it. Oh well. It was worth a try. 1 star. ...more

At least the murder mystery part Margie was looking into was. I also didn’t like the mystery that much. It didn’t really interest me. The other stuff was the usual kind of outrageous. I did like the pig parts. What I don’t get or like is Margie’s insistence that her and her husband can get past his “issues”. I know she’s in denial and doesn’t really believe it but it makes her seem dumb and ignorant. Reading this I realize that I’m just tearing this book up but it’s not to be mean. I do enjoy the characters and the idea behind the series. I think this book may have just hit that second book slump. It’s a wacky cozy mystery series that’s not filled with romance. What’s not to like? 2 stars. Hoping for more in book three. ...more

It was ridiculously over the top and hysterically funny. I don’t know why people are bitching about how crass it is or how they can’t take the raunchy sex jokes. What were they expecting? A well manicured period piece, eloquently told about a queen’s majestic rule over her kingdom? Off with those peoples’ heads! It was meant to be over the top and it was. It was full of cliched jokes, overly used stereotypes and awkward puns. That’s what made it so funny. It was pretty much exactly what I was expecting and it was fabulous! The production itself was really well done too. This full cast production is star studded and dotted with original songs and sound effects. Kate McKinnon outdid herself as the queen. This was one of the most entertaining things I’ve listened to in a long time. 5 stars

The gallows humor is priceless and if you can’t appreciate that then don’t read this but you’re totally missing out. Denton is supposed to die and the whole story takes place on his death date. He is just your average dry witted high school student with a family who loves him, a girlfriend and a best friend waiting to die. Not only is Denton a witty guy but his bestie Paolo is the wackiest sidekick of a friend that a kid could ask for. Loyal, dedicated and funny as hell. I couldn’t stop myself from laughing every time Paolo opened his mouth. I listened to this book but I don’t think it would have been less funny if I would have read it in print. Next stop- the library website to put book two on hold. I’m dying here waiting to read it! Hehehe!...more

The characters had depth to them and their backgrounds were more fleshed out as the story went on which made them relatable. The story was not just a gender bent version of Alice in Wonderland but it also had some new twists and touched on some serious subjects. All put together this made for an entertaining and engaging read. The audiobook itself was well produced. The narrator spoke clearly and was also able to portray the characters emotions easily. I’m a big Alice fan and a fan of retellings in general so I look forward to listening to other books in this series and by this author. ...more

It also introduced us to the world of the Imago and more of Babel’s sinister motives. Hopefully the third book of the series will end it with a bang! 4 stars. ...more

It was not at all what I was expecting (in a good way!) and it totally did not disappoint. I got the audiobook version and it probably made it even better. The start was a bit slow but in no time the narrative was moving at a steady pace. Sarah’s style is dry, witty, sarcastic and funny. She’s judgey, foul-mouthed and full of amazing jabs at everyone and everything. She wears yoga pants like a uniform and drinks wine while watching Netflix alone on her couch. She is a woman after my own heart! She has lots of dating advice that many people wouldn’t even think of but makes sense after she says it! There are stories about her friends and her ex husband that are hilarious too. All in all this was a really great book. It was snarky and comical. There were times I was even laughing out loud. I can’t wait to hear about what Sarah comes up with next. 4 stars. ...more

It was about a federal agent and the missions he went on that included his dog sled team. I would have liked if it wasn’t so vague and more details were given about the missions though those were not the real focal points of the story. It was more about the dogs and the relationship of the people with them and what they could understand of one another. I was not really sure as to what the targeted audience was for this book. Again by the way the stories were told it could have been anything from middle grade to adult. As for the narrator. He spoke very slowly. So slowly that I had to speed the book up to 1.75x in order to really enjoy it and get into it. If I hadn’t I think I would have lost interest. All that being said it was a solid story. I enjoyed it once it really got going. 3.5 stars...more
