I just checked, it's my 4th Samantha Irby this year alone (!) (this year is special, I read a bunch of books by the same authors) and I also read her newsletter in the mail, I follow her on instagram, practically this woman is my friend. Dare to say she isn't! I guess if you like one (book by) Samantha Irby, you will like them all. Go 4 it. :)...more

I wasn't as moved by this book of correspondence as I was by the one between PC and Ingeborg Bachmann (a very, very beautiful book), but I knew more about PC's life than before and through the impressive critical apparatus (valid for both books) I was able to find out more details of PC's troubled life.
Lavinia pointed out that later this year it's Paul Celan's 100th birthday (November 23rd)....more

I am still not quite sure what to do with this kind of book. It was ok, I like the prose, I cannot say what doesn't make it more valuable. Also, who am I to judge, right?
Meanwhile, apparently Virgin River season 2 is coming to Netflix this fall (still no release date yet, but...). So I didn't even bother to search for the next book in the series, but again I don't want to say ”never”.
What bothers me most, probably, is the fact that these two American men are the most generous and caring and giving and whatever in the history of love, probably. And I hear there is a third one coming. Sure, you have all kinds of abuse and drama, but how one can manage from being totally insecure in bed to being the super champ of our times, well, I do have my doubts. I hope I am allowed to do this.
Also, there is not so much sex in this one, I would say. Anyways, I kind of knew what to expect and wasn't as ahem shocked as while reading the first volume. :) Don't get me wrong, I am reading Samantha Irby, if she doesn't write about sex, I don't know who does. :))...more

I was happy to stumble upon some known stuff from the kangaroo series, but the book in itself was quite entertaining and I have to say that I enjoyed it. I won't give you any real spoilers, I guess. Suffice to say that my husband tried to convince me these days that the news he sees in google are ”especially” made (found?) for him and the more he spoke, the more I kept asking him: really? and you are not quoting from QualityLand? :) (yes, I knew I was the only one who read the book, but the ressemblance between (this kind of science) fiction and reality really was really spooky at times.)
Great news: I just found out that QualityLand 2.0 is going to hit the stores this October 12th and I already ordered it here in a local bookshop, yay!...more
