One romantic getaway. Two friends. Seven days just pretending…
When Nina Copeland’s mates try to match her with the guy next door, she needs a plan. Because Matthew’s just a friend, and Nina has a secret she doesn’t want him to discover – not until she’s tidied her messy life.
After his divorce, physics teacher Matthew Gilchrist has kept his heart locked safely away. So why do people keep pushing him to date his chirpy neighbour? He and Nina are fine just as friends. Aren’t they?
Nina hatches a solution to get everyone off their backs: fake a relationship at a family reunion, then stage a break-up so life can go back to normal. What could go wrong?
Stuck together at a romantic highland lodge, new feelings lure them out of the friend zone. But if love is to find a way in, Nina must confront her past, and Matthew put his heart on the line.
Can their friendship last the distance? Will splitting up be as easy as falling in love?
My Opinion
This was a lovely book to read with some great chemistry, it was just so easy to read. Nina is hiding the fact that she doesn't have a job from her neighbour Matthew following how he had reacted to his previous girlfriend spending all of her money - will she find the courage to tell him the truth?
Nina and Matthew fake a relationship at a family reunion, even though Nina has a crush on Matthew and her friends have been trying to set them up for a while. Will they still be friends at the end of the week?
This is the second book in the Glenbriar series but it can be read as a standalone.

Take one lavish holiday wedding. Add one evil ex and his bridezilla. And toss in a smoking-hot chef from the past. It’s a recipe for disaster.
Victoria Blackwood has spent years trying to redeem herself after falling victim to a blackmail scheme that cost her father thousands. So, when he insists she coordinate a big Christmas wedding at her family’s winery, she can’t say no. Even if the groom is her ex, and the caterer just quit.
I have read this book as a stand-alone but I was easily able to keep up. I flew through this book and read it in one sitting. This is a typical second chance romance and highly predictable but sometimes that it just what you need. With adorable characters this is an easy and enjoyable read.
One of the things that I really like about this book, is the way that Carla has written the characters - there are some that are written in such a way that there is no way that you can like them.

When materials engineer Zoey Butler lands her dream job at Future State Energy, she believes her research in renewable energy will make headlines. Unfortunately for her, she’s right. Zoey is working on her latest experiment when FBI Special Agent Alexis Thompson and her K-9 partner, Waffle, raid Future State and arrest the head of the development for fraud. Zoey helps the FBI find answers in the aftermath, but she soon finds herself jobless and unemployable. Desperate and out of options, she reaches out to Alexis, the one person who knows Zoey was duped like everyone else.
Liam Graham is an FBI special agent and instructor at Riverbend K-9 Academy. When Alexis brings in a new recruit with an unusual background, Liam pairs her up with Tasha, a dog in need of a handler to stay in their competitive program. Zoey is thrilled to put her past behind her and give the mischievous rescue dog her own second chance. However, shortly after she arrives, the FBI realizes the Future State case is far from closed. And Zoey may be the key to solving it.
I really can't put my finger on what I loved about this book but it really appealed to me. I found myself getting annoyed every time I had to pause my audiobook as I was so invested in the story. This has a little bit of something for everyone - a nice little mystery, a cosy romance and lots of four-legged friends.
A very easy and light-hearted book with an enjoyable, fast-paced plot. It was nice to have a female lead who works in STEM for a change. I would highly recommend this book - especially to those of you that love dogs.

A beautiful vineyard. A new beginning. A summer that will change their lives forever...
Linzi arrived at Green Valley Vineyard nine years ago, in need of a fresh start. In the lush emerald countryside and ripening grapes, she finally has a place to call home.
But Linzi's world is rocked when the owner announces he is retiring, and his grandson is taking over.
When Elliot Montgomery first sets foot at Green Valley, Linzi's worst fears are realised. He's stepped straight out of the boardroom in shiny shoes and a tailored suit. How will a numbers man like him ever understand the magic of what they do here?
Elliot has his own demons, carrying the grief of his father's death. Despite their differences, he has come to the vineyard for a new beginning, much like Linzi once did.
As the summer unfolds, Elliot and Linzi find themselves in an uneasy alliance while old secrets threaten to be revealed.
Could more be about to bloom here among the twisting vines than they ever thought possible?
My Opinion
Lucy Coleman has yet to write a book that disappoints me, so when I saw that her latest book was coming out soon, there was no hesitation for me - I just had to read it. This was a delight to read and it was so nice to be able to dip in and out of it as time allowed. If you have ever read a Coleman book before then you will know that Lucy has a lovely way of describing the setting so the reader can easily picture it.
I found this to be a nice escape as I was whisked away to the Vineyard. This is a great book that I highly recommend, you will not want to put it down!

When Louise surprises her boyfriend by returning early from a work trip, safe to say she wasn’t expecting to see him in flagrante delicto with another woman. Heart-torn and vowing to stay away from men, when Louise’s next project involves restoring an ageing hotel in Italy, she leaps at the chance to get away.
Managed by a crew of sextagenarians, the Grand Hotel del Monferrato needs all the love and care Louise can give it. But it’s hard to stay focused on the job when her thoughts keep straying to Vito, the reclusive and mysterious neighbour.
Williams has written another simple but meaningful book. This is a heart-warming story with lovely characters. A nice quick read that ends just a little bit too fast. An uplifting read, perfect for a quick escape to Italy.
