Fuckkkkkk, this book was annoying. The beginning had such a set up and so much action, so my expectations were so high after the first few chapters only for them to end up in the gutter at the 50% mark. The way the FMC became the most insufferable person on the planet like if I was the Queen I'd say fuck it and ship her ass back to Earth. This woman, whose name I'm not even going to try and remember because she was just that irritating, compared all of her relationships to the one she was having with Luka. And don't get me wrong, some boundaries she was listing were actually understandable but there were others that we SOLEY based off of her negative experiences with past boyfriends.. "Oh I don't want to be a doormat anymore" girl... if you don't stfu I'll turn you into one GAH DAMN. She was so insufferable and Luka deserves better... even if he is a discount version of Theo...
Their relationship seemed pretty nice in the beginning but then honestly felt forced as the FMC began this push and pull type of behavior.. like girl had insecurities she didn't want to work through and then punished Luka for those insecurities. LIKE WOMAN HE LITERALLY SAID IT'S PAINFUL TO BE WITHOUT YOU AND YOU KEEP PUSHING HIM AWAY? HOW ARE YOU ANY DIFFERENT FROM HIS KIDNAPPERS? EXPLAIN?!?!?!?
And despite Luka being a discount version of Theo I actually liked him a lot more than Theo. He was a lot nicer to his fated mate (even those that ugly ahh woman didn't deserve it) and was constantly trying to come to an understanding with her despite not knowing human customs. He was the only saving grace in this book but by the third act... alas he couldn't keep me engaged enough...
By the time they were getting along and the miscommunication was cleared I was already pissed off and bored af so I didn't continue... will I continue the series? Probably.. I heard this was the worst book in the series and I found the first one to be pretty good so I'll continue after getting this.... annoying ahh FMC out of my system....more
Art ok. Idk how accurate this was to the story, but it pretty much followed the TV show pretty well with a few differences. I'll definitely continue tArt ok. As I stated before this is a good sci-fi romance palette cleanser that reminds me of ice planet barbarians but with a little bit more plot. Idk if there was like a plagiarism scandal going on but the two books are very similar when it comes to the major plot points.
1. New planet has too many males, not enough women and are going extinct 2. Both FMCs were kidnapped by "green alien" and sent to the planet 3. There are mates
Everything else is pretty much different but it's a strange thing to read about twice imo.
But moving onto the characters... eh... they were fine. I like how the MMC was a bit different when it came to liking "cute" things but he was a copy and paste version of every "bad boy" with scars and a past so I couldn't care much about his character.
Same with the FMC. She didn't really have any unique traits that stood out to me but she was a very open minded person which was nice to read about. TBH the planet she landed on seems very judgmental but I honestly would be too LMAO. Bad boys are not my thing.
Honestly, the world-building of the alien world was the best part of the book as I loved seeing the human FMC play with her surroundings and discover new things about the environment. Seeing the author describe their society and how woman-led it was, was so refreshing. I need more!
Overall this book is a good break from heavy fantasy or sci fi and I like it enough to continue the series...more
This book was ok... I enjoyed it but not as much as Kira's book. It was nice to see the hybrid baby tho!
I don't have much to say between the couple buThis book was ok... I enjoyed it but not as much as Kira's book. It was nice to see the hybrid baby tho!
I don't have much to say between the couple but I thought their dynamic was uh.... interesting... Harlow was pretty unique being a mechanic but it's sad we didn't get to see her strengths shine... Rukh was probably my favorite thing about this book. Not sure why but seeing how he grows from a immature lonely being to someone who has a family and being more emotionally mature.
Again, I don't have much to say about this book but it was still a fast read!
