The story was good. Interesting retelling of Greek mythology. Powerful people taking the title of the Greek Gods. Thirteen people/gods rule them all. One of the thirteen was Hades, and he ruled the lower city which coincided with Hades of the underworld. Zeus gave himself more power to rule the upper city among the rest of the twelve. In this story, Zeus wanted a new wife. Persephone was ambushed into marrying him. She ran and escaped into the lower city. Hades rescued her. They strike a deal, protection in exchange for a weapon. Hades will use Persephone as a weapon to beat back at Zeus. Hades' revenge was hot & spicy. It was open for all to see. Hades is one softie I didn't expect from a bad boy. I like him. I liked the ending. Looking forward to continue the series.
The organization of this book is cool, especially the chapter titles. Definitely makes books about books I love the narrator just like everyone else.
The organization of this book is cool, especially the chapter titles. Definitely makes books about books extra special. The start of the book has some humor about writers which was funny to me.
This story introduced a new main character, Anna. Interesting to know Anna. She's a survivor. Sometimes she was caught in bad situations, but she able to survive it.
It's good to read the previous book to understand the mystery unraveling in this book.
I enjoyed the story within the story. The story of Anna, I enjoyed part 3 more than other parts. Anna has a mystery unraveling of her own and it connects to the previous book. It caught up with her in this book because she became an author. After her book was published, she began traveling to promote her book and some people recognized her.. snippets of her past showed up to catch her attention and she began to investigate. As she investigated, she felt horror and ready to do just about anything to protect herself and her past.
This duology is definitely interesting and the organization of the stories are unique.

Great audiobook! Informative. Good real world examples. Good explanation. Good recommendations for schools, institutions, and home life. A good wakeup call for anyone who use tablets for free babysitting services.
My son's private school brought this book to my attention recently. I'm glad the school is taking active action due to this book. The school's principal and middle school director read it and will be hosting a meeting for parents next week to educate us about how important this book is for us all. I couldn't help myself but listen to an audiobook and I wholeheartedly approve of the school's action to change, keeping a screen-free school to encourage kids' social presence.
This book, informed me that I should keep my children away from smartphones and social media. It's been researched that smartphones kept kids away from real life activities and instead pulled their attention to the activities in the metaverse and in turn causing an increase in mental health illness. Increase in screen time for boys and girls are harmful. Girls not feeling happy with themselves when looking at other girls on social media and starting self harm. Boys having free unlimited access to X rated videos and multiplayer games alone in their room causing violence tendencies externally. Generation Z for anyone born after 1995 grew up with smartphones, social media, instant access to friends and strangers' happenings is keeping kids from living their life in the present. The pressure to keep up, to have what others have, etc. Kids are more miserable and depressed than before, more suicidal than before.
It's a full time job keeping up with social media and the lives of others in the metaverse. Kids are having sleep deprivation and social deprivation. Addiction to smartphones and tablets is keeping them from playing in-person activities and trying new things. Me too as an adult. I spend a lot of time on instagram. Some on Facebook, Tiktok, X, YouTube, and Goodreads. The time spent here are free but cost me money because I could be able to get a second job and earn money with that time. Kids shouldn't juggle screen time with school time giving them no time to play in the playgrounds or running around the blocks....more

The narrator pulled me into the story. The story was good. I enjoyed the letters written to ask for advice including those from Lost Girl, which she made up for the alternating POV. Alex's story was okay, I'm not sure why she play detective in searching for the killer of the unsolved columnist's death. Alex should have more than one suspect to search for clues. Especially when she seems like she had something to hide, she couldn't ignore that someone was out to get her, but instead she focused on finding the dead columnist's killer instead. That gun shot rang out and I don't know what happened to "her". It's up to readers conclusions and I hope for leniency because she was as much a victim of his manipulation.
The story started with an advice columnist. Her sudden death. Still unsolved. Almost a year later, readers met Alex. She's living under the radar. Working from home. Having secrets. Not in contact with anyone who knows her. Then the advice column is in need to hire a new replacement. Alex decided to give a try and got offered the job!
Alex decided to celebrate but a guy at the bar harassed her and readers just found out one of her secrets. Unfortunately, that secret doesn't get revealed until the end of the book.

Add to Tristan being the submissive and take the abuse every time willingly makes me feel sorry for him. I enjoyed the story a bit more when he has some control of himself with Mark's fiancé.
This book followed Tristan. He left the army broken.. he had to kill his best friend from doing something bad.. he didn't know what to do after coming home. He went to an interview for a bodyguard position at a kinky club. A job and a world new to him. He sounded like a lost puppy but he wanted to try it all.. not knowing what he's gotten himself into. He had a small taste for what he wished for and he wanted more.. His boss owned the kinky club where murder and attempted murder happened.

Tensions and seductiThis audiobook has characters with sharp tongues and delicious sexy banters. A bit of forbidden love between witches and vessels. Tensions and seduction. Audiobook was good! I like the magic.
The story has two point of views. Gray/Thorne vs Willow. Gray/Thorne is the headmaster at this special university for witches. Gray/Thorne is a vessel (demon) who lives inside a very handsome body. He has fangs, cold to the touch, and drinks blood so he sounds like a vampire. Willow is the last of her kind of witches and bloodline. The school's Covenant, leader with the same bloodline as Willow lives in the form of bones wanted Willow to wed and bred to continue the bloodline. Her dad wanted her to revenge the school who hurt her aunt which was her dad's sister and to find her aunt's bones. She also doesn't care for the school because it was a place that made her mom miserable to the point that she had to fake her own death to get away. She's now attending the school because they just discovered her existence and left her no choice.
Ivan is a witch who gave up his powers for love mentioned about playing to win but there weren't much actions from him so that was a loss. Willow was given a task she didn't fully understand and gotten with a demon she didn't know kept secrets from her. The outcome was unexpected. The ending left a cliffhanger, to continue book 2 is a must!

The people The foreign language on audiobook was so good especially the French! The travel, wine and dining were nice. Makes me want to go on a tour. The people in this tour also enjoyed the hookups with the locals along the way! The love and life trouble were also a big deal in this story. There were some spicy scenes, mostly with the main characters.
Theo and Kit, best friend, then lover, until Theo was dumped. Theo held a grudge.. even now, 4 years later, where she ran into Kit, and still feeling mad about how she was dumped. They are both on this tour in Paris. Unplanned and unexpectedly, but they learn to cope with each other. They agreed to be friends and put the past aside. Then they entered into a competition for hookups with the locals.
Great that this story has two point of views. What Theo thought was just one side of the story. So glad to hear Kit's side of the story later on. Figuring out love and how to make it work. Theo figure out herself and/or themselves. Kit recognizing the person for him even through tough times. He also figured out that he couldn't just make a plan for someone without asking if they wanted it.

The story was interesting. It's good to see social media presented with both sides because most of the time I'm on one side. The story was told in the present and back to the past through a recollection and then a tell all in the end. There were twists and lots of secrets. I enjoyed each couple's secrets. I'm a bit disappointed that there's no view of the bad guy. This is my first read from the author and it won't be my last.
This story revolved about The Family Experiment, a tv show that is livestream 24/7 with contestants and it's located in the virtual reality. Each contestant has a second chance at parenting to win money to start a real life family. The baby grows up quick in the metaverse. But each couple has a different approach to taking care of their baby. In the real world, each contestant has a secret of their own. Then there's one contestant who tells a story behind the scenes, one he experienced when at first he didn't understand what was happening until a reveal at the end.

Male dominance. He does what he wanted. He wanted a play thing. He said he loved her and care for her. She said no more but he kept going.
She said she hates him but her body can't resist him. She craves for his touch as much as he craves for hers. But she has the right to be mad at him for all the manipulation he did and the betrayal he caused.
I was excited when Ivan showed up in the story and competed to win Willow, a competition he promised to play to win from book 1. But his character changed after the kiss. I was a bit disappointed.
Willow and Lucifer's relationship is toxic. They really don't understand love. But makes sense, since Willow has the mistreatment from her dad and Lucifer's with his dad..
The magic was good.. raising the dead and lots of blood..
It's a new read for me because I haven't read this type of books before. I like the narrator for Lucifer.

18 hours audiobook!! 486 pages! Book 1 ended with a cliffhanger. Book 2, started with an adventure to save Cabell, Tamsin's brother from Lord Death's control.
The beginning of this book has a glossary of different characters and info about them. It helps to remember who's who because there are so many characters.
Book 1 ended with that cliffhanger but book 2 didn't continue. There was a chapter on Emerys first then a chapter on Tamsin and the ladies from Avalon. Somehow they got themselves captured and Emerys came to the rescue. Emerys decided to join their adventures. Their first stop was to find the Bonecutter. I was surprised to meet the Bonecutter. Then they saw Lord Death and his followers did some damage to someone they just met. They saw Cabell and someone else they recognized. They had to stay in hiding to keep safe. Then their journey took them to someone Tamsin knew but disliked. There, they look for the mirror of beasts but found something else instead. Unbeknownst to them, a lot will happen here.
There were a few twists and turns. Tamsin always wondered about herself whether she can do any magic. Cabell questioned his place in life. He made some decisions and it hurt some people.
There are 3 views in this book: Emerys, Tamsin, and Cabell. I enjoyed the 3 views. The majority of the views was Tamsin.
There is an enemies to lovers trope. It starts with hate and insults. I don't know when their feelings changed. Wish there were more of Emerys' views. The romance was very light. Three kisses in two books for two couples.
The audiobook was good with different voices for different characters even the scary characters. The lady in the mirror has some humor. I wonder why she collected eyelashes.
I enjoyed book 1 last year which was called Silver in the Bone. This is my first series read from the author. Will have to check out the others....more

Excellent audiobook. This story is what I have been wanting to read. It makes us think about the choices we make in life and if we are happy with the decisions we made for ourselves. If not happy, would we want to trade our current life with another you in the parallel universe? It might turns out that our current life is better.
This book followed Jason. He's a physicist professor. He's very smart and could do great things but his girlfriend announced that she was pregnant 14 years ago while they were dating and he made a decision to build a family with her. When that decision was made, he had to get a safe job with a steady paycheck. Sometimes he might think that in another life where he chose not to stay with his girlfriend and build a family but instead continue his education and research that his life could be more successful. Well, he got what he wished for even when he didn't consciously asked for it. One night he was kidnapped off the street at gun point and was sent into another world where people recognize him but he recognized no one. Until later they learned that he was not the him they thought he was then his life was in danger. He had to figure out how to work the machine the him from another world built so that he can go back home to his family and save himself from this new world he was forced into.

The main food supply Wren can obtain is to go out hunting with her bow and arrow. The people in this town are not worried from starvation deaths but from being taken by The North Wind King aka The Frost King aka a God. If the people don't obey to the King's request, harm will come to them. Every now and then they'll have to sacrifice one woman to him. This year, Wren's sister is among the women being offered. Wren afraid to lose her sister so she did everything she can to prevent it.

Some good humor. The hot guy was in a band and he wears eyeliner and lip ring. Gothic look because he always wear black. The main character was Marlowe. She has autism and wanting to know a lay out plan before it happened. Even at a kissing scene where she wanted to know how he felt about tongue! The characters in this book love romance books.
A good lesson from this book was the ending. That we don't have to settle for what we had or hold on to it. We should open for new opportunities.
In this story, Marlowe was dumped at the start of the school year. She spent a lot of time figuring out for ways to win him back. She persuaded her classmate Ash to help her, teach her how to be romantic. At first he said no so she turned to romance books for tips. What happened in stories had gone smoother than what happened in real life when Marlowe put the tips to use. Ash came to her rescue and that began their contract of helping each other out. She returned his favor by helping him with his band's social media presence.
Loved the happy endings! Though I would love to have more of their swoon moments than to spend time on Josh. One thing missing from this book was the calculation of you and me. I thought there would be math involved in the calculation of Ash and Marlowe but it was only mentioned that Marlowe loves math. I don't know how to calculate love but the title gave me that impression.

This story followed Weatherly. She can talk to death so that death can leave someone's body and go into hers. But her body doesn't have cancer or any sickness so she vomit death out. She has saved many lives. Some neighbors called her blessed while others don't think kindly of her. She doesn't have a good childhood. Her mom left her to be raised by her grandma and she doesn't know her dad.
Weatherly publicly had a disagreement with this man and then his son ended up dead where she couldn't rescue him then he ended up dead where it seems to point to her as being the killer. Her cousin and best friend was dead at the start that caused her disagreement with that man but being powerful that he was in town the police refused to investigate so she took matters into her own hands. After all, she also needs to prove that she didn't kill that man.
There were good twists with a tragic love story behind it all.

Well this story was so good and suspenseful. Two stories going hand in hand and there's the mini cliffhangers at the end of every chapter. It was a hard wait to finish one chapter in order to continue with the story in the next chapter for each case. Both cases were weaving in and out of each other. When the twist came, it was so good and unexpected. I also loved the twist at the end and definitely didn't see that coming either.
This is my second read from the author and I loved both stories.
In this story, there were two cases.. one is of Ruth. An intruder came to the house and stabbed her but left her alive. There's already an active investigation out for that person because two dead women with the same style of attack. The other case is of Amanda. Her young daughter was kidnapped while out with her dad and killed later. Her husband couldn't deal and left her too. Her grief was beyond anything. The police couldn't catch the bad guy so she took matters into her own hands. But plans and actions don't go accordingly and unexpected twists occurred.

I started reading this book and read up to page 143. I noticed Libro.fm has it on audiobook so I finished the story via audiobook.
I enjoyed reading/listening to this book. This book was organized by year starting in the 90s and ending past year 2000. This story followed Amber throughout her music career, from the uncertainty of the beginning to the unexpected ending. Amber was an insecure person when she was young. Her start to music was due to her love of singing. When she went out to auditions, the competition was fierce because others had more lessons than her and they were well prepared than her. Their moms were more supportive and hands on than hers. Her body developed faster than other girls and she was portrayed a different way. At first I felt annoyed that she relied so much on the motivation from others to operate but now, I understand why she lacked the confidence. I am unsure why she didn't try to make more friends instead of fighting so hard to keep one.
This book touches on some big subjects of some years in history, like Bill Clinton, the worry of the apocalypse, and the Twin Towers. It's good to read this book since I lived through this time. There's that popular song, "Let's Talk About S*x Baby" and I think that song goes well with this book. Amber's love life struggled just like her career and her life.
There are actual song lyrics in this book! The audiobook plays music but the narrator didn't sing it.
It's a good read and audiobook. To see someone struggle through the storm before seeing the light. Excellent writing and debut.
