Frankly, I really, really liked how the story kicked off; the first part had me totally hooked. But as the book rolled on, things took a bizarre turn. The focus shifted to the wrong guy, making the relationship between the main couple feel a bit off and undercooked. Alas, it had the potential to be something special, but sadly, it just didn't pan out that way. And the big reveal at the end? Totally anticlimactic. It bothered me that after dragging through a bunch of less important stuff, everything wrapped up in a rush, leaving me wanting more closure....more

While some parts are a bit predictable, the overall journey is so enjoyable that it hardly matters. However, the author couldn't maintain that momentum, and the book didn't live up to its full potential. Ultimately, it left me with mixed feelings.
The story of this novel definitely had a unique and refreshing plot. What I enjoyed the most was how the author skillfully blended supernatural elements with a sweet love story. The slightly eerie atmosphere even reminded me of The Addams Family. In that aspect, these elements were the only things that kept me interested and motivated to keep reading.
My main issue with this book is that the author's writing style didn't connect with me. It felt like there were too many unnecessary words for a book of its length. There were lots of extra details that didn't really add to the story. And for the most part, the FMC was talking extensively without actually conveying much substance. Even though the ending was okay, it seemed like the author was trying too hard to make certain parts happen, that made it less enjoyable overall.
ANYWAY, I liked the author's refreshing imaginative thinking. I'll have to see what other books she has written. ...more

While I wouldn't say that "By a Thread" by Lucy Score completely swept me off my feet, I did find it to be a comedic read with a few standout moments.
One of the strongest aspects of the book was the main characters quick-witted humor, which added a fun and lighthearted tone to the story.
Although there were a couple of things that didn't quite click for me, such as the way that the 39-year-old and 44-year-old characters acted somewhat immaturely at times, I don't know—maybe the writer simply made a little mistake with the ages of the characters, but either way, it didn't detract too much from my enjoyment.
Overall, I had a great time reading this funny book....more

Having mixed feelings after finishing it.
The writing style and dialogue were not particularly gripping, so I had to skip from time to time to get to the main point. Because it mostly seemed to have a formulaic plotline that was easy to guess. The only good thing about the book was our MMC, Aaron Blackford, who was such a cutie. That guy totally stole my heart. I kind of wish it was written from his POV instead of that overly dramatic FMC. I found her personality completely exhausting and couldn't connect at all.
Anyway I certainly don't understand all the hype surrounding this book....more

But what impressed me the most was the way the "Thea" character portrayed as a mentally strong/ protective mother. How reality makes people tough was explained in this book in a very good way. And the supporting characters were just brilliant. I really enjoyed the story. Wanted something sweet and light after an intense book.....and I got it!...more
