These four all got together and wrote novelettes, novellas, or whatever you want to call these short stories. I thought, hey let's give this a try and thought...
We'll begin with the first story "Riptide" by Elizabeth SaFleur
She had me on the floor the first chapter...my evil little heart could hardly keep up! I haven't laughed so much since Dr. Horrible graced YouTube.
I mean, a single drunk female bidding on a Caribbean bartender, what could go wrong? Then I got involved with the characters and the chaos that ensued! I was like okay, I'm ready for this, let'er rip...
Suffice it to say it's up to Elizabeth SaFleur excellent standards and we get to see one of her background characters from Elite Doms find his HEA.
Next story is "The Break" by Rachel De Lune This one was bold! Wow! Talk about surf, sand and sex!
Rachel has a unique blend of British verbiage without leaving a yank like me in the dust of hard terms to go look up on the internet. She uses that flavor to melt panties off. A single woman, a voyeur and hot smoking sex.
Then we have "Backwater Blessing" by Kris Michaels I was captured by the first line and had to read more. This story was over too fast! Backwater Blessing gets the sacred Mephito's I love you GIF!
Two detectives have to pretend to like each other for the sake of a huge human trafficking bust and become way more than their cover (talk about undercover lover) Oh yeah, there's this one scene...that I don't want to ruin it for you, but Oh, wow...he's in the hall, she's in the bedroom...bring lube. That's all I have to say.
And last is "Undertow" by Patricia A. Knight I could say the best was saved for last, but all these stories were fantastic! Undertow made me immediately invested in the characters, had me laughing, made my heart lurch, and then made me warm inside. It was sexy, funny, and personable. Very unusual story telling. A veteran Army Ranger and an adorable second generation hippie. They actually get along really well and were made for each other. I'm so glad I took these stories home with me :)
So this compilation gets the Mephisto's standing ovation!

Most definitely worth the while!

Or dead. Really what's the difference. Anyway, onward to the review...
Yes, while there is sex, there is a story! As expected of PAK. And that's what I love about the Verdantia Series. It's sex and aliens that makes sense. You know how people talk about how a place becomes a character or even an item, like the magic staff (pun intended) becomes a character? Well FUCKING is a character all it self in this series. Yes, Fucking is an actual character in the book much like Chicago is a character in the Harry Dresden series. Fuck is also a noun due to Patricia A. Knight. REMEMBER...YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED...
This fifth installment is about Tristan (Sexy as sin) DeHelios, Megellan and PANSY!! I mean Dr. Giverny.
To better your odds at understanding the world if you haven't discovered the Verdantia Series then start with Hers to Command. And just like in the first book we have another triad!! Woot! Yes, there is M/M/F sex and they swing every way.
And they are much more sexy than Alan Cumming. (Sorry Alan baby, you know I love you)
Tristan, the errant brother deemed with the job of guarding Dr. Angelica Giverny (Pansy from Hers to Cherish) she comes to Verdantia to help the women who were freed from the Vyloxian slave trade (who she herself was also a victim of).
Captain Magellan (Mage) is the captain bringing Pansy and the other women to Verdantia for recovery. There's always been an attraction between Tris and Mage but Angelica (Pansy) helps the two unite and from there the plot thickens.
Ramsey and Steffania (Hers to Cherish) are back but briefly. Hell and Adonia (Hers to Claim) also give a little bit more of a cameo and provide much needed closure for Tris from the previous book. And that's all I'm saying because...
Hot. Hooked. Want more. The Kings of Guardian...Love. Each. Brother. Let me tell you the Kings are one big, happy family. Okay, they all have their effeHot. Hooked. Want more. The Kings of Guardian...Love. Each. Brother. Let me tell you the Kings are one big, happy family. Okay, they all have their effed upness."Personal trouble" just doesn't cover their issues, but they deal and they are good people (no matter what those boys try to tell you).
(Hint: Yes, he's saying what you think he's saying)
Take Joseph, for example, a guy I can relate to. He wants to protect his family, but stays the furthest away from them as to not put them in danger. He's an assassin and double backs before he goes home. But he does go home every so often. But even loners get lonely.
When he gets a call for help from his long, lost high school girlfriend, the only person he's every loved outside the King family, he goes running. But Joseph is no lap dog. He's a bad ass mofo assassin going to protect his woman.
Joseph reminds me of something between a black mamba and a German Shepard. What would that look like? Possibly this...
Anyway...I digress. Aside from the hot sex scenes there are assassins of all types trying to kill Joseph's favorite person, Ember Harris. The he hasn't seen his high school sweetheart since they parted ways upon his deployment for badass government fuckery (hench the staying away from the ones he loves part) he runs to her side when she absolutely needs him.
While he's been trained to kill, she's been saving lives as a doctor in the ER. It takes her some time to deal with the fact that he's killing people to save her, but she also loves him and doesn't want to die.
There's a conversation about that dicotomy in the book I thought was really well done.
"Joseph" has a happy ending and leaves an epilog that sets up the next book--enter Docs story. Which will come out in January (if the schedule of books proceeds as it has). I'm really looking forward to his story! I've go a thing for eye patch pirate-like doctors that are hot, handsome and chivalrous.
Until then, I'll just have to fan girl on some of the posters coming out:

She created a timely message wrapped in plain words.

Men who read this would probably either gain insight into the female mind or find themselves a bit overwhelmed. Women who read this - you've felt this way at one point or another - and can identify with Izzy on some level.
In light of Ashley Madison, the Evermore Series is a sexy, timely debut meant for people who want more from their relationship.
Seb rocks. I want Izzy to find her happiness and I'm looking forward to the next installment.
Here is my favorite line:
Confidence = Sebastian York "Oh, I see. Thanks." I absentmindedly rub my thumb across his name on the card, feeling the individual dips and rises of the letters. “I expect you to call me, Izzy.” With that, he turns and walks out of the room.

I underwent a time warp (Rocky-horror style) to the Roman Empire.
Okay, I lied...I do have these favorite lines:
* “You do not impose—you are crucial here.” “I, alone, cannot win your cause, Torr.” Why these people thought him vital to the upcoming battle, he could not reason. “You will aid it.” Kell faced Torr. “If you take me back, I can bring soldiers who are loyal to me and are willing to fight.” “They would be killed.” “I will not?” “No. You have purpose in Strathan.
* Kell had not intended to let his eyes wander to the private interior but when they did, his gaze swept past the sumptuous appointments, the finely carved furniture and the huge, fabric draped bed. Instead, his attention seized onto the provocative centerpiece decorating the space.A woman, suspended by her wrists, hung in quiet tranquility. She was completely nude, her beautiful form, taut and elongated by her position. Her arms were linked together but her ankles shackled apart. Only her toes touched the stone floor.
* Long into the night the woman’s moans and the warrior’s lusty growls, tormented Kell. He listened to Torr’s deep voice, rumbling indistinct commands and encouragement, often answered by the female’s soft mewls of pleasure. A hundred times he thought to go to their room, if only to watch—a wretched fate, if that was all allowed him. His lust became a living thing he battled. He ached with it, a profound, prevailing famine, stirred anew by each mournful cry that Torr wrung from the female.
(Okay, some of you might be out-raged by this, but Leis is not "a pleasure slave". She's not a slave at all. This is just a line to give context as to what the two men are talking about.) * “A pleasure slave?” Likely chained for her master’s pleasure. A common enough thing in his world. Kell’s fingers gripped the doorframe for support—the impact of the woman so strong. “In a fashion,” Torr answered cryptically. He paused, halfway into the chamber. “Do you find your room deficient?” “No.” “Then we will talk in the morning.” Neither man moved. “Your bed awaits next door, Roman.” “I would buy her from you.” The words came before thought, driven by intrinsic need. Torr shook his head. “No amount of coin could equal her value. Tomorrow you will understand more of her worth.” The warrior stepped into the doorway and nodded in dismissal. “Rest well, Roman.” They both knew he would not.
* Her proximity brimmed his senses. His mouth felt arid, nervous like a youth near his first temptation. He was a man of thirty-seven and cursed himself for having to clear his throat before answering. “Yes.”
* I wager Torr was much depleted by our combat.” Kell doubted the warrior had been breathing hard, but Torr’s competitive humor had rubbed off during the time he had lived with the man. Truvius shifted uncomfortably. “Primus, the warrior was little affected.” Kell grinned thinly at his junior officer. “Gratitude, Truvius, my pride is humbled hearing it.”
I will warn you I was a bit squeamish about the dp scenes and yet they were so hot. Leonidas hot.
Speaking of Leonidas...this story was kinna like if women had two Spartan husbands. Ladies, we would never go unsatisfied. Strathan was a world where the scariest men on earth desired their wife's approval. Awesome.
But I can't stress how Ms. Lakewood brought me in and under the spell of Strathan with the language, the tone and the vivid splashes of Roman life.
The women are magic, the men are valiant and the evil badies are those we love to hate.
It captivated me. I'm spell bound by Strathan men and I hope to see a sequel. Immortal women keep their Strathan men strong and near invincible to fight an evil force of reptilian foes named the Hobb.
How do women do that? They have magical snatches. That's right, the mighty beef curtains, juicebox, cock socket, hoo-hee, downstairs girly bits. Power of the pussy rocks.
Everything in Strathan is awesome, except for the Hobb attacking every month. But when a Celt pressed into Roman service is pulled into the magical city he's asked to stay and fight. From there hot sex and battle ensues, but to keep the beautiful Leis, Kell (the Celt) has to share the woman he's chosen. Well, all men in Strathan have to share and while that's okay for them, Kell finds sharing as appealing as ants biting his nuts off. Yet he needs to "come" to terms of the situation or suffer sexual frustration.
The story feeds into one's desires of having more than one lover, the consequences and the benefits all in this fantasy during the Roman era. While the story goes into more, I don't want to spoil it for those yet to read the book. But it has many twists and turns that kept me reading and entertained.

This one had me at... "Curled on the crude bench, Tori blinked and fought to keep her focus. She etched one more line into the soft plaster of her cell wall. The added line brought the total to sixty-seven white marks scratched into the dirty plaster. Her mind twisted, muddled by fragmented thoughts. The words that haunted her formed a familiar cadence. When would they come? When would the pain stop? Is it morning or evening? Will I die today?"
Which, yes is the first paragraph!!
I don't have any favorite lines for this one because I COULDN'T STOP READING!
I was like Mephisto's below screaming "Magnificent":

This debut really, really surprised me. Mrs. Michaels writes like a veteran pro when this is only her first published work. After speaking with her a bit I found out that she's been writing for a while and is very prolific. We'll be seeing more of the "Kings" and I'm so excited because at the very end of this Mrs. Michaels hooks me to the point of salivating for the next one! To which she said:
Oh I don't think so!! You better write more books baby or you're fans will riot!! RIOT!!
I'm going to read this one over for future inspiration (if you know what I mean!)

#1 “I’m not a notch on a belt.” “You could never be a notch, London Chantelle. You’re the whole belt, sugar.”
#2 ShSo I'll start with my Favorite lines:
#1 “I’m not a notch on a belt.” “You could never be a notch, London Chantelle. You’re the whole belt, sugar.”
#2 She worked damned hard to hold her own with Carson Drake. But now? Her good sense silently shouted insults at her feminine weakness, that little part of her that said maybe he would be different.
#3 “Sugar. I’ve always hated that sweet talk.” The old southern endearment reduced her to nothing more than a dessert—unnecessary and an afterthought.
#4 He could tell her ideas of domination filled a pill box. She needed to know what was possible—and what she should never accept, sex or not.
#5 “No more experimental drugs.” Her voice was clear and unwavering. “Miss Chantelle, we don’t experiment—” “You heard me. You weren’t expecting me this weekend. Well, expect me more often. In fact, way more often. Three times a week obviously hasn’t been enough.” Three times a week. Her devotion to her brother woke something in his heart. Yet a fierce desire to tear her away from the room, from the entire building, never to return, consumed him. Dr. Morgan’s face hardened. “Like I was about to say before you interrupted me. We don’t experiment. We are here to help. If you don’t agree, I’m sure I can refer you to another facility.” London crossed her arms. His warrior princess wasn’t about to leave the battlefield. The not-so-good doctor nodded once and turned on his heel. The move might have saved the man’s face as Carson’s sorrow for London took a sharp turn by the man’s denigrating tone. Refer her to a new facility? Carson would have liked to refer Dr. Morgan to his fist.
#6 When Carson pulled through the large iron gates of Club Diabolus, London’s mind finally stopped arguing with Dr. Morgan. In her imagination, she’d screamed at him over and over.
#7 London took in a lungful of air thick with testosterone. Between Alexander, Ryan and Carson, she’d walked into a virtual gladiator ring. She’d never shrink before a Board of Directors table again. Balding CEOs and snippy executive assistants paled in comparison to this hallway encounter.
#8 “Last night you said if you were restrained you’d feel protected. Interesting word choice. Perhaps it means you need an advocate. But you aren’t sure if that makes you weak or worthy of someone’s attention.”
#9 When Michael reached for her arm, Carson had his hands around the man’s neck in seconds. He pushed him into a row of chairs lining the far wall. “How the hell did you get in here?” “Hey, let-let go,” Michael managed to gasp. London’s hands were on his back. “Carson. We were just talking!” A pair of brawny arms wrenched Carson’s neck hold loose from the man. George had pulled Carson backward. Michael sputtered and dropped into the chair under him. “Mr. Drake, sir, calm down,” George said. “Get out of my way, George. Or so help me God—” “Or, what? You gonna defend yourself in criminal court?”
#10 If you ever go to her house again, I’ll kill you. I won’t hurt you. I’ll kill you.” “Threatening me?” “Good. We understand each other.”
#11 “Hey, man, how you doing?” George gave him another of his fist pump hugs. “I’ve had better days.” “You had a fight with Miss Chantelle, didn’t you?” Jesus, did he wear his afternoon on his face? George gestured him over to a small coffee stand in the corner. “Buy you some coffee? It ain’t Starbucks, but it sure beats the stuff upstairs.” After settling onto the lobby’s planter retaining wall, Carson sipped his coffee, avoiding George’s stare boring a trench in the side of his face. “So, what’d you do?” George asked. “Why does everyone ask me that?” “Cuz it’s a woman you involved with not a giraffe.”
So yeah, this love story was an out of the ordinary twist for me. It started out as your regular romance, but as I got reading I realized the depth in which each character played. The hero was one we've seen from "Lovely" (Elizabeth's first novel) and I wanted to know more about Carson after he left the beauty queen in the first book. I had so many questions and though I didn't get all of them answered I got to know Carson a whole lot more.
Of course now I have a new character that I want to know more about (Alexander, the club owner) and have to wait for his story!
The twists and turns make this a steamy romance and will be a great summer read!...more

I'm going to start with some of my favorite lines:
* He filled her so completely she knew she’d feel empty whenever he wasn’t buried inside her.
* Christiana pulled the sheet down his body, inch by inch. She didn’t want him to wake. Her insides still pulsed with his use. She couldn’t afford to start something she’d have to stop. Yet she wouldn’t disregard the opportunity to study the man. Muscled planes and angles landscaped his arms and chest. He had to lift weights all the time, she thought. Blond hairs dusted his pecs and trailed down his torso into a triangle that disappeared under the drape. She wondered how many elections he’d win if he used this shot on his campaign poster.
* Jonathan, sheathed tightly inside her nirvana, nearly let her take control.
* “Tell me you’re mine.” It was too soon for such a declaration, but her pussy muscles clenched around his shaft, unleashed his most base dominance. Each woman felt unique and special. Yet Christiana’s channel presented a valley of lushness that some god had designed for his pleasure. She gloved his thick length so sweetly his mind would never win the battle over sensation. He wanted to own this woman.
* “It feels, oh, I don’t know.” Of course, she didn’t have the words to match, as usual. He pulled back a little. “Deviant?” The corner of his mouth quirked up. She nodded. “Remember what I said. Never be ashamed about how you like to be pleasured,” he said.
This book made me feel, oh, I don't know...a little like:
